Panic moment, we were running out of room on old thread so started a new one for today's run reports Smile

@Norbert you don't get fitter if you don't run the hills. Run up and walk down if you need to.

@lifeisabeach congratulations on your 100. I'm aiming to get mine this year, only 40 runs to go! How old was your DD when she did her first proper parkrun?

Lifeisabeach · 13/01/2018 13:22

Bobbie she was 5 when she did her first parkrun and has now done 78!

Captainladder · 13/01/2018 14:09

Wow that’s impressive 78 at age 7!!!

I almost didn’t go but having posted I would on here gave me the extra boost I needed! I managed to run the whole course ... even if I was running at a snails pace (came in after a lady who was mostly walking but doing a bit of running!!) loved it. Well done all those who ran or volunteered! There was a lovely girl who was cheering us all on today - she just happened to be in the park it seemed, and it was very motivational!

NorbertTheDragon · 13/01/2018 14:33

I can only just walk up the hills! There's one quite steep one. I'll work my way up to it eventually I'm sure!

48:18, so already improved on last week. Grin

TriJo · 13/01/2018 16:20

Marshaling at Finsbury Park - enjoyed it :)

Biggest workout of the day was bending over my ginormous bump to pick up the football cones I'd put down to guide people through an S bend...

Bobbiepin · 13/01/2018 17:34

@lifeisabeach That's amazing, good on her! I hope DD is up for it when She's old enough. I might have a 250 shirt by then!

Kdidi · 13/01/2018 21:26

Did my first ever Parkrun today! Have done a bit of running before but v bad at running with others. I'd really like to hook into a group in Hertford/Ware to run with, whether at Parkrun, to start at Ware Joggers with, or just on an ad hoc basis if anyone interested?!

Iwantacampervan · 14/01/2018 13:39

I took part yesterday - it seemed longer and tougher than usual! I'm marshalling next week so I hope it's not raining.

Bobbiepin · 20/01/2018 05:26

I'm not gonna make it out today, DD hasn't been herself after her vaccinations and has refused a bottle all week. Not really fair to leave her with DH if she might need a feed and he has no way to feed her. I could really use the time to myself as well Sad

runningpink · 20/01/2018 06:31

No parkrun for me today, we have had to cancel ours due to black Ice.
All the others in the area are also cancelled apart from one who are inspecting the course this morning.

Hope your DD feels better soon

Lifeisabeach · 20/01/2018 15:43

Got soaking wet and cold doing pre-event set up, then ran with DD. It was very slippery and muddy, and pretty miserable in the rain, but we got round.

Bobbiepin · 20/01/2018 19:11

Thanks @runningpink We're starting to think its teething. Had a pretty shitty day, but some Calpol seems to have helped.

@lifeisabeach those runs are the best. No better reward than a hot shower and a cuppa after. There's something very affirming about running in the rain, it makes me feel like a proper runner if you know what I mean.

HarimadSol · 20/01/2018 19:26

I did my first parkrun after having kids (only second one ever) today! In the rain and mud, too. I did C25K over the last few months and finally finished. Feeling quite proud of myself! I'm enjoying running for the first time since being in primary school.

givemushypeasachance · 22/01/2018 11:44

I did my first volunteering - bloody cold and drizzly standing around marshalling for over an hour (it's a three lap course and had some walkers), but it was nice to wave/clap people on and I got a surprising number of "thanks marshal!" shouted at me from people going past - I'll have to adopt that myself for the next time running. Smile

HalleLouja · 01/02/2018 15:10

I did my first parkrun in ages this week at Feet's home course and got a parkrun pb. Still some work to get to my overall 5k pb. Most importantly there was lots of cake and runners from my club.

Lifeisabeach · 01/02/2018 18:59

Well done Halle

My home run was cancelled last week so we went to a nearby one. It was SO busy! My home run averages about 60 runners a week and this one had over 400. It took ages to get going as it’s a bit of a bottleneck at the start. So nowhere near a PB but nice negative splits instead.

Home run is back on this week and I’m setting up again. It’s looking wet and cold at the moment!

MelanieCheeks · 03/02/2018 08:08

Hi everyone!

I managed to bag elusive letter Y last week at York, but I'm now on the countdown to my 200th parkrun, which will co-incide with my 100th at my home event.

megletthesecond · 03/02/2018 14:09

If there was an award for starting at the front but not paying attention and being overtaken by half the field then I'd win it. Must pay attention next week.

Horrible, damp cold morning too. Could have done with some winter sunshine.

Lifeisabeach · 03/02/2018 14:24

Did my home run with DD this morning. The course was flooded last week and it was still very wet and muddy. There’s a short, steep hill at the end of each lap and it was so slippery, but we somehow managed to stay on our feet. Could have done with trail shoes or spikes today.

NorbertTheDragon · 03/02/2018 20:16

It was the 300th parkrun at our park today, so lots of superhero dressing up, and cakes at the end which made my kids happy. The rain started as soon as we started running, but thankfully only drizzle. Feel good doing it this week, I'm really enjoying it. The only downside is the loss of my Saturday lie in. Grin

Iwantacampervan · 10/02/2018 18:02

Very icy this morning - had to take care but still managed to get my usual time even with the dog stopping every so often! It's our 300th next weekend and a Valentine theme - I've volunteered to hand out the finish tokens so it should be fun.

RainbowCookie · 10/02/2018 19:03

I got on the park run wagon today, i last ran a very hilly course, fell and shredded my hands about 2 years ago. Changed to a flatter course today, it’s summer here and with the new year resolution runners there was a massive turn out nearly 1500. It was too busy TBH spent lots of time trying to get past early walkers. It was also really hot, we start at 8am but that’s actually too late to run in summer.
I had my car keys in my capris in a zip pocket at the back and the weight kept pulling them down - had to keep hoisting them up!!
I also sweated all over my bar code and the scanner wouldn’t scan it - must get it laminated

MelanieCheeks · 11/02/2018 21:35

Oh, rainbow, hope you were feeling good after all that!

I had an uneventful i.e. Thankfully non icy cancelled run, #198, and 99th at home event. Working on my t shirt and cake plans!

givemushypeasachance · 12/02/2018 12:30

I did my 13th at the weekend, thankfully not beset by any bad luck (though there was drizzle). Someone was doing their 100th and a whole gang of their friends were running in orange wigs, along with the cake it was a fun one!

MelanieCheeks · 17/02/2018 07:32

Happy parkrun day everyone!

Number 199 for me.....
