Today I did wk3 r1 couch to 5k and I need to complete it this time !

For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

No numpties at parkrun, we have people who walk the whole way :) Mile for mile I find walking harder than running!

Thank you , I will try and brave it sooner rather than later .
I went to the gym today and used the zombie run ap and just tried running as much as I could . I did a lot of walking but did manage 9 mins in one go . And covered 5k in 40 mins 49 secs which I know isn't brilliant but I now have something to aim for .
Am hoping to get back on Friday and then again Sunday .

5k in 40 minutes is brilliant! I've been running for two years now, and although I got my time down to late 20s, I ran 5k tonight in 33 minutes, so not far off!

Sounds great to me too! I went out and managed 12 minutes and 12 minutes of walking for warm up/cool down. Was blowing a gale and drizzling so feeling quite pleased sitting on the sofa with chocolate

Well i went to the gym today as planned which is a minor miracle in itself . And only I have carried on taking a lead out of your book and just doing what I can rather than the plan .
My idea is to just cover the 5k in whatever run/walk/sweat and tumble way I can manage .

39.37 today Grin
I did feel very sweaty and a wee bit sick but I did it !

How are you getting on ?

That's great! I went out tonight and did 6 mins warm up, 12 mins jogging and 8 mins walk again.

I started week 4 and I was shagged. Sadly I did work up to 5 K pre kids but I'm not a natural runner. Motivation please

I am def not a natural runner either , my dh is and ran a half marathon last weekend while I am struggling with 5k .

I am determined to be able to run the whole thing and once I can do 20 mins I am going to do a parkrun .

lush did you start at wk4 or build up ?

It wasn't too bad. Won't have time to go tomorrow so hopefully I will get out on Monday. For now I'm just going to try and get to running a whole (massive) block - got about 3 quarters round in 12 minutes. From there I guess I need to find a bigger/longer loop.

I did ParkRun yesterday, and another similar style one this morning, both 5k. Both just over the 30, and I've been running two years, so you guys are going great. When you go outside, best bit of advice is what someone told me - relax on the downhills, reel it in from a sprint, so you've recovered enough for the uphills.

I am very impressed bubble I did make the gym today but it was tough and a struggle (may have had a bit of hangover) I did what I could ,got sweaty and came home and had a long hot soak in the bath .

It's hard! I walked for about 2hrs today and will hopefully do similar tomorrow and hoping for a jog on Thursday, it is very hard to fit in. Thankfully I can go for work during my working day and go for a jog in the evenings now once youngest in bed and eldest is left reading.

You have managed more than me . I have had a grim week at work and loads of stress so a run would have done me the world of good but I couldn't find the motivation sadly.

Well done for keeping it up . I must buck up this week . I am signing up to do a 5k in May and really don't want to look a complete arse .

Haven't been out again - still feeling sorry for myself. Maybe Tuesday. Hope this week is calmer at work and yes, push yourself as I feel so pleased with myself when I get back and like I deserve chocolate

Looking through week 5 and on the 3rd run, it's 20 Min run with no walking?!Shock why such a big jump? Week 6 goes back to walk breaks again...

Hi, not my tread, but I'm sure the more the merrier...

I have no clue how they have determined the timings, but as you'll see I've gone off the grid now and just trying to do as much as I can. Also, I did repeat runs along the way until I felt comfortable to move to the next one, so you could do week 5 run 1 a few times and then go to run 2

TheOnly, there's been a few times when I've felt the run was going to be too hard but I've always given it a go and always managed to do it so far so. I'm going to be doing w5r2 once I dropped the kids at school and just give it a ago. My legs are still aching from the HIIT class I did Wednesday.

How was your run last night?

Oh no poor lamb! I went out this morning after the school run too. Did it and because I didn't know the route, once I finished, I had to turn and walk back for another 32 minutes! Legs like jelly here too!
