Gather here parkrunners old and new. Tell us all about your running, volunteering, juniors, tourism, Cake and cows.

Old thread here for anyone interested.

We are probably the best thread on MN. All are welcome here whether you are brand new to parkrun or sporting your 500 shirt.

I'd kill for 26 something Madeline really good and I'm never going to be pregnant again.... You and black cat might try run walk if a straight run is too much. Makes a real difference to my geriatric joints so is likely to help in pregnancy as well.

MyBlackCat · 14/09/2016 21:10

chutney I am biased but melton is my favourite Smile has a bit of everything. Long Eaton flat and on tarmac paths perfect pb potential. I liked rosliston but it was a tough course, rushcliffe is another favourite and I also enjoyed colwick Smile basically I like them all!!

MyBlackCat · 14/09/2016 21:13

I've still got so many more local ones to try Smile I've been running recently with a friend who lives near Derby so we've been running at parkruns between us. I want to get to sherwood pines and also Rutland water at some point, still not done braunestone yet and that's close.

chutneypig · 15/09/2016 06:18

Rushcliffe is great but it's getting so busy now, DS has been knocked over there before. I keep meaning to try Melton but have a mental block about the hill - pushed the buggy up it too many times Grin.

Sherwood Pines is definitely worth a go and the cafe is great for after. Have you tried Gedling at all? Seeing as you don't mind hills!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/09/2016 10:42

I would like to do more near me but with all the tension this week, I'm not sure I will manage to!

karatekimmi · 15/09/2016 21:37

ohh I've done a few of those chutney my sister lives innHucknall so I drag her round!! I haven't done Sherwood pines but can't wait to, still haven't done Mansfield and I think there is a new one (Brierly forest?)

standingonlego · 15/09/2016 21:38

I appear to be shouting "parkrun is the answer" at the TV again 😃Context this time the "give up your drugs" programme on bbc1.

standingonlego · 15/09/2016 21:40

karatekimmi...my parents live in Annesley :) We are going to do Brierley park next time we visit.

chutneypig · 16/09/2016 06:48

I think Brierly Forest started last weekend, I saw a soggy photo of the inaugural on FB. We are spoilt for choice round here. I though I'd seen a meeting about one starting in Bestwood too.

It would be the answer to so many things wouldn't it? There was an induction night at the kids atheistic club last night and I overheard one of the leaders telling a mum about parkrun and her leaving with her daughter saying they ought to go, it'd be something they could do together.

MyBlackCat · 16/09/2016 12:06

When I'm travelling to parkrun on a Saturday and see people out running, I shout at them in my head 'you should do parkrun'

Blatherskite · 16/09/2016 14:32

Right, house move done and I can finally get back to parkrunning! :)

After this weekend. This weekend is Blerch running

needyounow · 16/09/2016 19:42

I am impressed with the times af those of you running whilst pregnant. Well done!
Good luck to everyone for tomorrow. No Parkrun for me this week and I'm actually gutted to be missing it. But on the plus side I am doing a 5k pretty muddy run so still managing to get a run in.

feetheart · 17/09/2016 07:32

It's been a bit of a mad week so I haven't caught up although Flowers for cinnamon. That is a horribly tough decision to make. I hope things calm down and you can reassess in a while.

We found out at 10am on Wednesday that we would have to cancel this week as there is an event in the park that someone forgot to tell us about (and it was pure chance that we did find out Shock)
That would have been hard enough but we had arranged a secret birthday celebration for one of our regulars who is turning 70 though you would NEVER know it Her daughter had contacted us to let us know as she knew her mum won't have said anything and we had all sorts planned. We have spent most of the rest of the week trying to persuade her to tour but she's having none of it so if you are coming to us next week wear green!
DS and I are now off to Rushmere to examine their PB gong :)

If anyone one is local enough Clash of Drums is the event and it looks AMAZING but they are currently laying pyrotechnics on our course Shock

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/09/2016 08:10

Sorry we won't be seeing you feet and minifeet.

It will be a wet one here.

chutneypig · 17/09/2016 08:17

How frustrating for all those plans feet, what a shame. A gong sounds fun though. The event does look fantastic but I can't believe they forgot to tell you given the amount on prep work that'll go into it.

I'm hoping the rain holds off here, no parkrun for us this morning, got a 5k inflatable obstacle run. I'll be bad enough without it being slippery Grin. Enjoy the pretty muddy need, I really enjoyed the one I did.

Bet you need a run Blathers after a move!

I often think the same MyBlackCat!

Hope you don't get too soggy Fifty

PurplePidjin · 17/09/2016 12:33

Ds1 did all 4 laps :o think it's easier for him now it's not as hot. I scanned and ds2 sat in his buggy should have been asleep, little bugger

MyBlackCat · 17/09/2016 13:19

After not feeling too good in the week and not being sure if I would be able to run today - I did Smile and I also got to see those two famous letters PB next to my result Grin it was only my 2nd run in this course, the first being a few weeks ago and I did abandon my friend on the 2nd lap when I felt OK to pick up the pace feeling a bit guilty and it is way off my actual pb but a pb is a pb and I'll take it!

I can barely move now Shock

Hope everyone enjoyed their runs as much as I did today Grin

swampytiggaa · 17/09/2016 13:28

Hello! Did my 16th parkrun today :) got 30.30 which is 33 seconds off my pb ;) ran with my friend who got a pb which was lovely!

Working next Saturday :( so won't be able to run :(

Well done everyone!

AwakeCantSleep · 17/09/2016 13:34

My second parkrun today. Yay Smile Despite persisting back problems I made the decision to run. Beautiful morning, over 340 people turned up. I didn't match my time from my first run but felt really good during the run, and finished with a sprint. I did it in just under 32 minutes.

I never thought I would enjoy a) running and b) on a Saturday morning, but it's fab!

londonmummy1966 · 17/09/2016 13:40

Got there just as they were lining up today - decided to go slow as I have a 10 mile training run scheduled for tomorrow. Somehow or other managed to come in only 13 seconds over last weeks pb (which killed me) but today felt like a slow jog. Starting to think I may actually get under 30 mins before too long.

miked99 · 17/09/2016 13:55

A couple of minutes off my time from last week and smiling faces all round as it was a stunning morning and we managed to persuade my sons friend to come to parkrun by letting him walk and play Pokemon Go! He didn't do much of the course but said he really enjoyed it and I think we'll have a convert soon. On the way round saw a friend who I haven't spoken to in months so we had a good catch up when we got our breath back at the end of the run.

MelanieCheeks · 17/09/2016 16:09

Beautiful sunny morning in Belfast Victoria, in the shadow of the famous shipyard cranes ( and right beside the airport, should you be tempted to visit).

I made the mistake of not checking my previous pb here-I assumed it was much quicker than it actually is, and I came in only 20 seconds away from it.

chutneypig · 17/09/2016 17:18

Looks like those PBs are coming back in view with the cooler weather. Well done everyone today Smile

karatekimmi · 17/09/2016 22:22

I always thought Bestwood was an ideal location for a parkrun!! When I lived in Hucknall we always had a Christmas leftovers picnic their in "twixmas"

I had a lovely slow plod round today, with the pushchair. Just counting up to my 100 - 3 more official ones!!

MelanieCheeks · 17/09/2016 22:39

Official ones?

Today was my 140th. Inspire me for 150, oh lovely dfybers
