Gather here parkrunners old and new. Tell us all about your running, volunteering, juniors, tourism, Cake and cows.

Old thread here for anyone interested.

We are probably the best thread on MN. All are welcome here whether you are brand new to parkrun or sporting your 500 shirt.

Brilliant karatekimmi!

Well done everyone else, I love hearing everyone's parkrun stories.

I ran at home today, was slow! Ran first lap with a guy who hasn't been to our parkrun since march but was bought along for his first by his work colleague who is a running buddy of mine and second lap with my longest running buddy who has been poorly since her hm last week so it was good to catch up.

Lifeisabeach · 15/10/2016 21:36

Well done everyone, sounds like some great runs today. I did parkrun with my DD(6), who managed her second fastest time, so she was happy. Our course record was smashed today, we were only halfway round when he finished!!

Have just completed a charity wineathon this evening - a 5km run with a glass of wine every km - was brilliant fun - hic! Wine

swampytiggaa · 15/10/2016 22:32

Timekeeping was fun today :) love parkrun :)

Blatherskite · 16/10/2016 17:36

No parkrun again this week - it's been over a month now! - but I did run Friday and today. Trying very, very hard to reclaim my mojo.

MelanieCheeks · 16/10/2016 18:27

managed to get to a new parkrun this weekend - Southwark

londonmummy1966 · 16/10/2016 20:03

Melanie what was it like as it is not that far from me

MelanieCheeks · 16/10/2016 21:34

Really pretty, dead flat, a good one for beginners. Nice cheery run brief, and a friendly crowd.

chutneypig · 17/10/2016 06:24

Lifeisabeach · 17/10/2016 13:26

Chutney - yes it's a 4 lap course

CartwheelGirl · 17/10/2016 13:28

I love parkruns. I run on Saturdays, and volunteer on Sundays for junior parkruns. I have a purple 25 volunteer t-shirt Smile

HuckfromScandal · 17/10/2016 17:18

My purple t is one of my most prized possessions!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/10/2016 23:08

Already looking forward to this weeks parkrun with my special visitor Grin plus my neighbour who I have converted to parkrunning is bringing her niece along

MelanieCheeks · 18/10/2016 07:16

Ooooh, I'm now in a new age category, and there's one of my favourite local ones where I think I might be able to nab an age-cat record (for a few weeks anyway Grin)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/10/2016 07:57

Happy birthday MelanieCheeks!!!!!

FiftyNineOhEight · 18/10/2016 08:06

Happy birthday Melanie Cake

I am looking forward to it too cinners Smile

The first timer I plodded with two weeks ago when I was tail running came back on Saturday with his wife and took a few minutes off his time. He was very pleased. A really good example of the parkrun spirit.

We're having a bring your bling this week if you have a favourite medal you want to bring fiftynineoheight Grin

Lifeisabeach · 18/10/2016 10:09

Has anyone done Tamar Lakes near Bude? We're going to be on holiday in the area so hoping to try it this weekend. It's a one lap course so will have quite a different feel to our home one, which is 4 laps.

PurplePidjin · 18/10/2016 12:27

Happy birthday Melanie

Race pack and tee shirt came today, I'm looking forward to seeing londonmummy on Sunday Grin does anyone know if ds2 will be OK in the buggy, or will it be too busy? I'd rather not sling him for the entire time if I can help it

swampytiggaa · 18/10/2016 12:53

Tamar lakes is near me :) well nearish ;)

It's supposed to be lovely - it's pretty much all trail tho as it goes around the lake. Might be muddy.

I am at Bideford if you fancy a less muddy option :)

FiftyNineOhEight · 18/10/2016 17:55

Oh goodness cinners so many to choose from!

Wow! Amazing!!!!!

fluffiphlox · 21/10/2016 18:20

I've been reading a number of Parkrun stories about 'how I struggled round in 65 mins' or 'my husband and I walked around in an hour and a half'. Why don't these buggers turn up at my Parkrun - I'm sick of being last or thereabouts on about 40 mins Grin
