Gather here parkrunners old and new. Tell us all about your running, volunteering, juniors, tourism, Cake and cows.

Old thread here for anyone interested.

We are probably the best thread on MN. All are welcome here whether you are brand new to parkrun or sporting your 500 shirt.

Sounds perfect feetheart! I don't know if I've mentioned my troublesome rd before but he told me he'll be glad when I'm not ed yesterday Sad

Well done ThursdayLast!

It depends on you MyBlackCat, I didn't run at all with my first two but I was back st work (childminder) 3 weeks after having ds2. With ds3 I run until the day before my due date and had my first tentative mile 4 weeks after he was born. Was back at parkrun the following week. I had heard the same about 6 months for running buggies but dh was home and has no interest in parkrun so left him with daddy.

We had a glorious day and two tourists in 250 t-shirts who'd don't over 150 courses! I tail ran and did run a reasonable amount finished in 41:33. The lady in front of me had a heart attack in March and this was her first time running all the way (she was a regular before).

feetheart · 02/10/2016 08:15

london - they should have recorded it manually if you had it and it didn't scan. Also contact ERS (who provide the barcodes) they will replace stuff happily.

See some of you later :o

cinnamongreyhound · 02/10/2016 08:18

Missed your post londonmummy1966, agree with feetheart they should have added you in and ers should replace it for you. I'd be tempted to email them and explain politely and see what happens, may have been an inexperienced scanner.

Mine is on my laces purplepidjin I don't take it off at home but we do have a bench to put your foot on but I do take it off and hand it to the scanner if I'm visiting Grin

londonmummy1966 · 02/10/2016 12:20

Thanks everyone = turns out that they hadn't realised they had 4 people barcode scanning and not 3. They had rather a lot of queries even for a field of 400 runners...Mine is now on the list - 29.09 which is almost 1.5mins less than my PB for my usual course - shows just how much that big hill slows me down. Very happy as I haven't run under 30 mins in a long time - not since I increased my races over 10K.

PurplePidjin · 02/10/2016 13:36

Cinnamon that's absolutely outrageous, what a horrible rude person Angry

Blatherskite · 02/10/2016 16:54

ERS will replace non working barcodes if you contact them. We've had 4 lots in this house and not had a problem with any of them so it definitely not normal.

swampytiggaa · 02/10/2016 20:42

Ran with my friend yesterday - plan was to take it steady and just get round as she is having calf issues. In the end she was only 20 seconds off her pb and managed a sprint finish! Think we are going to be able to do the local 10 miler in November now :)

Junior parkrun today - smallest has taken to keeping the tail runner company (and wearing her tail) I was timer two of my girls were marshalls and the boychild was photographer :) had some nice comments about his pictures :)

All in all a lovely parkrun weekend :)

PurplePidjin · 02/10/2016 21:02

I did the naughty thing Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 03/10/2016 13:01

Forgot your barcode?

PurplePidjin · 03/10/2016 17:27

Fudged ds's dob so I could order his wristband as a birthday present. He won't be running on it until after he's 4 I promise!

feetheart · 04/10/2016 06:56

That's rubbish about the RD cinnamon. I don't usually wish people ill but I hope parkrun karma bites him on the bum Angry

Lovely parkrunday followed by a lovely, chatty 10k with 59, blathers and our Purple parkrun team on Sunday. Great to see one of our RDs back running 10k after serious illness and the team have raised £1500 so far for The Willow Foundation who enabled her and her family to have a Special Day out when things were tough.

karatekimmi · 04/10/2016 20:45

runninh PST baby - I ran after my 6 week check up with both of mine, but didn't run with my baby until he was over 6 'months (I know a lot of people at parkrun so I just turned up and ask someone to have him while I run (normally my DH's running partners wife!!))

I did my 100th parkrun on Saturday (99th officially) at Hanley, lovely park, a bit hilly!!

MelanieCheeks · 06/10/2016 07:06

Glad that got sorted, London!

Omagh's inaugural for me this week.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/10/2016 13:59

My neighbour wants me to keep her company at her first canicross club run Sunday so not sure I'll be parkrunning Saturday in compensation Sad

swampytiggaa · 07/10/2016 07:52

I'm volunteering on Saturday. Didn't really want to but they were short of marshalls so me and my two friends are marshalling then going for a run afterwards. Marshalling Sunday at junior parkrun for my 25th :)

Also marshalling next Saturday before we do our 10k commando run :)

Good luck everyone who is running tomorrow!

chutneypig · 08/10/2016 06:24

That's a lot of clapping swampy! Dare I ask what the commando run is? I have two different ideas in my head on that?

Sunday sounds very special feet and a great cause.

How many NI runs will that make Melanie?

Not sure which parkrun today for us, but definitely one. I need a good stretch, I loved the junior OCR we did last week but there wasn't much running involved!

cinnamongreyhound · 08/10/2016 11:21

No parkrun for me today, nice morning at home and now the sun is shining for a lovely dog walk. Hope everyone had a good one Smile

swampytiggaa · 08/10/2016 11:25

The commando run is like a tough mudder. It's 10k with 30+ obstacles run in fields and woods and rivers in north Devon. If you listen very closely you will hear me crying from wherever you are in the country Grin I bloody hate getting dirty!

Five of us are doing it as a team. It's not a race and the obstacles aren't compulsory although we are planning to attempt most.

I was timekeeper today which was fun. Back up timekeeper was new but she enjoyed it too.

Did a run afterwards tho to compensate for not doing parkrun.

Was talking to a couple who normally run at Harrogate - they liked our teeny tiny parkrun :) we had 71 finishers today :)

londonmummy1966 · 08/10/2016 12:00

No run for me today as I have the RPHM tomorrow. Decided to have a lie in instead!

Hope all of you running had a great morning.

FiftyNineOhEight · 08/10/2016 12:12

Morning parkrunners Smile

I volunteered today because like londonmummy I am doing the RPHM tomorrow. I tail ran with a new parkrunner who had an inspiring story about coming back from serious illness. Funnily enough he said he had been inspired by his sister who was a regular at Harrogate - clearly the place to be with two mentions on the thread this week Grin It was my 25th volunteering stint today Smile

swampy that Commando run sounds fun. A bunch of MNers including me, feet, Blathers and lego did a WOLF run a couple of years ago as a team and it was great.

Enjoy your cantors tomorrow cinners

FiftyNineOhEight · 08/10/2016 12:13

Erm, canicross. Not sure where cantors came from!

OP posts:
PurplePidjin · 08/10/2016 13:05

I did 50:59!!!!! 17 minute miles walking and pushing a buggy, I'll take that

Ds1 did 48 so we treated ourselves to a fry up at the garden centre on the way home I have vouchers

AwakeCantSleep · 08/10/2016 15:03

Parkrun number 5 for me today. I finished in 31:46. Great running conditions today, we had 310 finishers. My very fit neighbour did it in 23:11. Another neighbour finished in 29:20 or so. (Both are women). Which makes me the slowest parkrunner in the cul-de-sac, but never mind Smile

HuckfromScandal · 08/10/2016 15:11

Hey all,
Thought I would join you.
I'm a parkrun plodder. Happily trundling along at the back 😊😊.
Today was my 24th parkrun.
But my big news is that tomorrow is my first stint as RD at JPR. Feeling a tad nervous, but I shall feel the fear and do it anyway!

Nice to "meet" you all!

MelanieCheeks · 08/10/2016 18:08

Hiya Huck, welcome aboard!

I had a luverlyey run at Omagh's inaugural - 17th lady, 1st in my age category in the last week that I'm IN that category! Blog to follow...
