Gather here parkrunners old and new. Tell us all about your running, volunteering, juniors, tourism, Cake and cows.

Old thread here for anyone interested.

We are probably the best thread on MN. All are welcome here whether you are brand new to parkrun or sporting your 500 shirt.

My friend was RD at Poole today - 696 runners Shock

Meanwhile I got my fastest time since April (still an extremely long way from my PB) so maybe there is hope after all. The osteopath visit yesterday definately helped Smile

Well done to you PB folk, and for the rest of us too just for being on this thread and supporting each other

chutneypig · 25/09/2016 07:13

Ooh I love Poole standing, planning on a return visit later this year. I couldn't believe how slick the organisation is there with so many runners. Hope is good, are you seeing the osteopath regularly?

A good course can't be bad cinnamon, hope you can get out to parkrun soon.

standingonlego · 25/09/2016 08:04

Me too chutney My one and only visit to Poole resulted in my fastest ever parkrun time thanks to the flat course and friend dragging me round at insane pace Smile. I see the osteo ocassionally due to dodgy back - I am usually fine then every couple of years I need a couple of session to reset me! He is fab, it really helps.

cinners looking forward to visiting your lovely course soon. Those people running yesterday, YOU helped make that happen. Ypu might be taking a break at the moment but do not forget or dismiss what you have already achieved. Star

MyBlackCat · 25/09/2016 08:31

I got round yesterday - just Shock I've been suffering with leg cramps this week and wasn't sure I'd be able to run. I was at my home course, numbers were good despite local half and marathon today. I've got 10 more parkruns until due date Shock Don't think I'll be running them all!

swampytiggaa · 25/09/2016 12:22

Just been to junior parkrun. Me and DC 4 were Marshalls DC 3 was barcode scanner DC 2 was photographer and DC 5 ran with the tail runner and wore the tail :)

Getting close to my volunteer tee-shirt :D

cinnamongreyhound · 26/09/2016 20:54

Wow that's come round quick myblackcat!

Well done swampytiggaa I'd like just one of mine to be interested! We are going to try our new local junior event on 23rd October and see if that helps them get interested!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/09/2016 20:57

Ah thanks standingonlego, I didn't read back far enoughBlush that's so kind of you. I'm tail running this week, said to dh that I would do those I'd already committed to! I'm still officially ed as the couple taking over are on holiday so they asked not to do anything until they got back, my name is still above the door so to speak!

swampytiggaa · 27/09/2016 08:11

Am impressed that my boychild goes - he is 14.5 and prefers his bed! He is photographer at juniors now - he is doing GCSE photography so I told him the practice would be good :)

Only the smallest runs - she is 8. The others are just after their volunteer tee-shirt!

Next Sunday is my 25th volunteer :) not bad as I didn't get involved until April this year :)

chutneypig · 28/09/2016 05:13

I'm sure a new juniors will get at least one DC interested cinnamon, I've seen the impact in a few children I know and it really fired their enthusiasm.

How wonderful the older ones are interested in volunteering swampy and that is a very impressive volunteering run from you, well done.

I didn't realise you were that close to your due date MyBlackCat. That course will give your calves a work out!

That must be reassuring having found one you know can help when your back is playing up standing

cinnamongreyhound · 30/09/2016 11:46

Let's hope so Chutneypig!

I'm tail running this weekend, happy birthday parkrun!

Blatherskite · 30/09/2016 19:41

I think I'll be missing it again this week :( We've been at the new house for three weeks now but I'm still so busy that I'm just totally knackered. Running on Sunday so I'm going to sleep tomorrow.

I have at least managed to do something every other day this week. Running on Monday, Yoga on Wednesday and today and then running again on Sunday. Finally feel like my mojo might be making a tentative return.

feetheart · 30/09/2016 22:44

Think I'm Funnel Managing although I was planning on being Gazebo monitor and MP babysitter :)
No cafe this week as it is being used for a funeral (it's a cricket club and one of their longest serving members died suddenly) so our Pop-up cafe is making a reappearance - gazebo, a few tables and everyone brings stuff :)
The RD will have to look after the MP.

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/10/2016 07:38

Morning all Smile
Non-sleeping DS2 derailed my running a bit over the summer but I've been steadily getting post-baby PBs the last few times I've been so I feel like I'm back on track.
Today is my 80th parkrun!

I hope the weather is ok wherever you are - it sounded pretty horrific in the night here, but looks like a lovely morning now.

PurplePidjin · 01/10/2016 09:00

Skiving today :'( but it's absolutely hammering it down and we've not long had hail, thunder and lightning. Us adults would dry out fine afterwards, but don't think the 3yo and 1yo would cope so well unless togged up in waterproofs and wellies - and therefore unable to run properly! So cbeebies and hot chocolate on the sofa for us.

Happy international parkrun day!

AwakeCantSleep · 01/10/2016 11:37

Hello all! Today I went much a bit slower. 31:32, and felt much better for it. Was able to speed up on the last km and finish with a sprint Smile

We were very lucky with the weather, the sun came out just before 9 whereas it's raining again now.

I hope all runners had an enjoyable run today Smile

feetheart · 01/10/2016 11:55

Lovely weather here this morning, just started to rain as we packed up the gazebo.
226 happy parkrunners with 7 x 50th runs (6 people, 1 dog :))
Our MP turned up, had a lovely time and may come back as a runner.
I managed the funnel, the results went like a dream - no incidents, no kids on bikes and no unaccompanied under-11s. Perfect parkrunday!

MyBlackCat · 01/10/2016 12:26

Sun was out at my parkrun Smile I managed to get round another one with only walking breaks on the hills, felt better than last week.

I've set myself the goal of running my 100th parkrun on my next but one birthday which falls on NYD. I've just ran my 62nd so have 38 to run between now and Jan 1st 2018. I also have to pop out a baby in that time. I wanted to make 60 pre birth so I'm in credit Smile am I being widely optimistic in thinking this is achievable? First child and clueless Shock

Happy international parkrun day - hope you all enjoyed your runs Grin

feetheart · 01/10/2016 12:29

We had a runner back today with her 10 week old baby in a running buggy so totally doable :)

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/10/2016 12:40

Easier with one than two IMO Black, especially if you have a willing minder for your baby!

Glad you're feeling well, you'll be fit as a fiddle for labour!

Aspeedy friend fancied an easy day today...so she ran with me Grin I got a post birth PB, another 16 seconds off huzzah!

MyBlackCat · 01/10/2016 13:18

Well done on your PB PB thursday Smile

DH is planning on going on his school ski trip in Feb when his son will be about 8 weeks old, I'm saying nothing and thinking of all the credit I'll have in the bank for Saturday morning parkruns Smile

10 weeks old in a running buggy feet?? Much of what I've read says not until they are 6 months. I think that depends on the terrain though, I hope to be out on the flat pavements earlier than that.

PurplePidjin · 01/10/2016 14:05

Afaik under 6 months you shouldn't run, both for your own healing and for the baby's neck and spine

londonmummy1966 · 01/10/2016 14:51

Visited a local parkrun today as my usual one was cancelled. This one was very flat and I would have had a PB of PBs for it (and under 30 minutes..). So I was GUTTED to discover that my brand new all singing all dancing barcode tag ordered though the website doesn't work. All I can say is don't waste your money - I'm going back to the paper version next week.....

0ellenbrody0 · 01/10/2016 20:14

Oh gutting london!!

No pb, but a steady run for me. Was v foggy for the first lap and quite difficult to see the lake we run alongside (no fence, steepish slope) but no-one fell in, surprisingly, as it's quite a scrum at the start.

We had an epic Marshall on the final stretch (not normally manned) who was screaming, whooping and hollering at everyone, I doubt she has any voice left!

PurplePidjin · 01/10/2016 22:02

Last time I scanned I had a couple of people with tags on their shoelaces. FYI, I do not want to be bending down to touch your mucky shoes, with my head in your sweaty crotch. Ta.

Wristbands are much more civilised Wink

chutneypig · 02/10/2016 06:40

Well done Thursday!

How disappointing london. I'd have thought they'd have taken your code down as it wasn't like you didn't bring it. DDs scanned oddly last week and I'm sure the nippy 18 year old who got her time was very surprised he'd been running 100 miles away and we were tail running too with Nordic walkers so it wasn't his usual time. It all got sorted in the end but was a puzzle.

I'd not thought about the shoelace ones Purple, yuck.
