Juneathon 2016 - anyone want to join us?

Basic premis: try to do 30 min exercise every day in June.

Any kind of exercise: walking, running, swimming, climbing, dancing, circuits - the choice is yours!

From experience, every day can be a bit much. So feel free to join in even if you don't think you can manage this. Last year I aimed for 5 days per week, which worked well for me.

If you want to start before June, there is a thread here

Oh no Kanye- sorry about your dad and well done on getting back on the horse.

Terrible weekend with no excuses other than hangovers. Did take the DC to the trampoline park this morning so I'll bank that - my pelvic floor is not a fan of the old trampolining though, that's for sure. Yesterday was a write off unless you count 90 mins of floating in the sea with a pool noodle and a Seabreeze- I'm thinking that's stretching it.

Zame · 19/06/2016 16:11

Did nothing yesterday except for achieve my target number of Fitbit steps. Went out last night and then ran to once up my car this morning which was just over 4 miles. Not sure what the plan is for tomorrow just yet, maybe gym,try and spend longer on the rowing machine

OublietteBravo · 19/06/2016 18:31

Day 19: NMTZ. Pretty pleased with that, as my motivation to exercise was very low today. Possibly because I've exercised every day for the past 3 weeks.

I'm determined to actually manage 30 days in Juneathon 2016, so I have to keep going...

You're doing brilliantly! I think ive missed 2 days so far which I'm really pleased with. I hope I can keep this up, I'm enjoying it so it shouldn't be too difficult

blodynmawr · 20/06/2016 08:18

KBFF done.
Well done Oubliette for managing a workout every day in June. I can just about manage Mondays to Fridays!
Agree Wilderness - if I fall off the routine I too find it hard to start again!
11 / 20.

Tsotofamily · 20/06/2016 09:12

Oubliette well done on doing everyday
Well done to everyone else as well

Saturday - I managed a 40 min walk or so, my son had a football tournament and it was school fete as well so by time I walked up and around trying to keep track of the kids and back again I might have even been over 40 min
Yesterday was another manic day with football presentation and my daughters dance show and didn't really keep track of my walking
Not sure I'll get out today it's peeing with rain and my youngest is poorly so might just be a couch potato day

Hope u all have a good day Grin

AnnPerkins · 20/06/2016 10:19

Oh dear, apart from doing double on Saturday (was especially proud of a 3.7 mile run - the furthest I've run in weeks) I am now three days behind.

I have to run tonight, regardless of the weather, although I do prefer running in the rain to hot sunshine. I will follow it up with a core workout at home.

Well done to Oubliette for managing every day. And to everyone else for sterling efforts.

ElephantMug · 20/06/2016 14:22

Yay! Not too much of June left now. Did Pump yesterday and Yoga today. Think I might need a rest day soon (felt a bit weak at Pump) but I'm 20/20 now so quite motivated to keep going...

Zame · 20/06/2016 16:25

I went to the gym again today, had a better go at the rowing machine, bike and a little walk on the treadmill but I think I put in a lot more effort walking outdoors so I'll save my walking for other times. Worked up a proper sweat so I must've done some good

Wildernesstips · 20/06/2016 19:35

Just over 30 minutes walk this evening. The best thing about making a stroppy teenager come with me was that I was constantly having to try and keep up with his pace!!

OublietteBravo · 20/06/2016 20:05

Day 20 (or 2/3 of the way through Juneathon): 6W6P L2D5.

Atoned for my weekend with a double yesterday- personal training (upper body plus conditioning piece ) for 1 hr plus 5k run over the HK hills in 35 degrees.

Zame · 21/06/2016 12:03

Wow keyser that would be far too hot for me, I struggled this morning and I think it was ony about 15. I managed a 10k but it was hard going , I guess some runs are just harder than others for no obvious reason. Gym tomorrow

Zame · 21/06/2016 12:07

Actually, I ate an enormous amount of crap yesterday and very very little proper food. That's probably why it was so hard today

KeyserSophie · 21/06/2016 13:18

Skived track as too hot but did stagger round my 7.5k circuit. Definitely no Strava cups tonight but happy I did it.

ElizaBB · 21/06/2016 19:20

Have missed a few days due to ill kids and building work , I know, excuses etc ! but still hanging on in there. Going to try the zen labs 10k app

Wildernesstips · 21/06/2016 19:54

Another 30 min walk for me. The local footpath I used was so overgrown that the weeds were up to my boobs and I got stung on my hands and arms.

OublietteBravo · 21/06/2016 21:34

Day 21: Ri30 L3D1 & 6W6P L1D4. Going up a level in Ri30 was tough, but I survived!

5 rounds of:

25 cal row
20 x box jumps
15 x 24kg full KB swings
10 x burpees
5 x pull ups

Going to yoga tonight too

AnnPerkins · 22/06/2016 10:02

Tuesday I did another 3.7 mile run. It was almost enjoyable, I took the route which is uphill at the start and the finish, for extra challenge.

Last night I did a cardio flow workout followed by core flex workout. So now I'm only two sessions behind.

ElephantMug · 22/06/2016 16:41

Keyser, I think your workout would make me throw up. Burpees, shudder.
Anyway I went to Step and Pump yesterday and did an hour long bike ride (plus three year old on the bike) today. Also planning some yoga later.

Zame · 22/06/2016 17:38

I've been to the gym, ran on the treadmill for a bit, did some rowing, attempted some arm exercises :) ate back any calories burnt straight after by hitting the biscuits but I'll be fit under my fat

OublietteBravo · 22/06/2016 20:56

Day 22: back to NMTZ (I think this is my favourite circuit right now).

Elephant I dont mind burpees too much but the kettlebells are the bit I dread. Just having to get your weight forward at exactly the right moment so the KB doesnt pull you over backwards.

Session with PT this morning. I cant squat below parallel atm as trying to rehab my hip, so we had to improvise

  • single leg reverse stepped lunges 4 sets at 16kg (mobility drill)
  • back squat to bench 4 sets of 10 @40-50kg
  • single leg Romanian deadlifts 4x10@25kg
  • overhead wall ball throw downs (max power) 4x 10 @8kg
  • ergo sprints (max power) 4x 20 secs
ElephantMug · 23/06/2016 12:06

Keyser, I'm not surprised that the KB swings are tough at 24kg!
I couldn't make it to the gym today but this thread inspired me to an hour long sort of circuit workout at home. KB swings (12kg only!) 20kg squats, lunges, dips, press ups, TRX rows and the dreaded burpees. I kind of made it up as I went but got v. sweaty so must have been doing something right.
