Juneathon 2016 - anyone want to join us?

OublietteBravo · 22/05/2016 13:41

Basic premis: try to do 30 min exercise every day in June.

Any kind of exercise: walking, running, swimming, climbing, dancing, circuits - the choice is yours!

From experience, every day can be a bit much. So feel free to join in even if you don't think you can manage this. Last year I aimed for 5 days per week, which worked well for me.

If you want to start before June, there is a thread here

No 10k as I didn't feel quite right but I had a 45 minute walk and tentatively did level 1 shred, I 'phoned it in' for most of it but it still counts!

KanyesVest · 14/06/2016 15:34

Yesterday ended up being a wash, I got loads of walking at my event, but my dad was taken to a&e last night (thankfully just kidney stones in the end) so I couldn't manage or force myself to do anything in the evening. I got to the.gym for circuit training this morning though.

Keyser that's impressive for an otherwise busy few days!

Day 10

Tsotofamily · 14/06/2016 15:44

1 hour slow paced dog walk, met up with a friend and her puppy Grin who is soooo cute

KittyandTeal · 14/06/2016 19:32

A 30 min Pilates session. Almost killed me and I got cramp in my abs Shock

Zumba tmrw

OublietteBravo · 14/06/2016 20:33

Hope your dad feels better soon Kanyes - I've heard kidney stones are painful.

Day 14: a longer session this evening. Doubling up on the Jillian DVDs: Ri30 L2D5 & 6W6P L1D3. I expect to feel a bit stiff tomorrow.

Finally went for my run woo hoo! Still slightly achey so I was slower than I have been but it's done so I'm pleased. Still stewing over joining the gym, trying to weigh up if it's worth the money.
Does anyone else go regularly? How does it compare to working out at home? I've been pretty good with running swimming and DVDs so far

Tsotofamily · 15/06/2016 11:06

Well done Zame

45 min slow pace dog walk done

KeyserSophie · 15/06/2016 12:05

Thanks kanye. I am quite committed when I'm at home and in my routine, but it generally does tits up as soon as I involve travel, be it leisure or for work.... especially work actually as then I always try to jam too much into a few days to avoid spending too much time away from the kids and have no time to fart never mind run.

Did PT again today

8 min EMOM: Power clean 50kg
4 x (3+3) front squat 55kg
4 x 12 x reverse back rack lunge 50kg
4x banded hamstring raises (basically you trap your feet in the rollers and lower yourself from kneeling to horizontal and then raise yourself up again without using your hands))

Managed to get out of the conditioning bit as we ran out of time :-)

AnnPerkins · 15/06/2016 12:21

Hi all. I hope your dad's on the mend Kanye.

I haven't updated since Monday. I managed a 2.5 mile run on Monday evening, made easier by the cooling rain Smile. I followed it with a core stretch workout to make up for missing Sunday.

Did cardio flow workout last night. Having a very rough week sleepwise. I just need one good night's sleep to feel human again. Hoping tonight's the night.

Well done on reaching the halfway point everyone.

ElephantMug · 15/06/2016 14:26

Good going everyone!
Zame, I find my gym membership great. I go to lots of classes and it works out really well for me as there is a crèche (or I wouldn't do anything). Also means I can take the kids swimming for free.

I did Pump today and yesterday so I'm 15/15!

OublietteBravo · 15/06/2016 20:07

Today marks the halfway point of Juneathon. Well done for sticking with it everyone!

Day 15: NMTZ. I think this is my favourite workout - a bit of everything.

Ergo intervals:

5x 500m @80% (effort)
5 x 500m @ 83%
5 x 500m @ 85%

Zame · 16/06/2016 06:55

I did sign up to the gym yesterday and really enjoyed myself! I used the bikes and stepping machine, the rowing machine and some kind of skiing thing to work out arms. When I build up some confidence I'll try and get an induction into using the weights. I'll probably go back today, it's either that or a walk

blodynmawr · 16/06/2016 07:13

KBFF today and yesterday.
Well done everyone for getting half way!
Finding it a bit less sweaty this week with the cooler weather, which helps Smile.
KeyserSophie Agree re pesky work travel affecting workout routines. That is why I was non existent on these threads in April and May! Things are calmer now though and hope I will get to the end of June OK.
14 / 20.

blodynmawr · 16/06/2016 07:15

Durr. That should've been 9 / 20.

OublietteBravo · 16/06/2016 21:51

Ergo intervals sound tough Keyser I used to row, and I still remember the pain

Day 16: Ri30 L2D6 and Killer Abs L1D3. I think I'll sleep well tonight!

oubliette Yeah, I also rowed in college. I did a really unsociable course so it was the only way to meet men. My consolation on an ergo is that at least you can stop without getting someone else's blade in the back. It really is the most torturous sport, yet always looks so serene when you see the boats glide past on the tideway.

My PT bailed on me this morning due to hangover flu , so did a few sets on my own but it was a bit half hearted.

  • 4 x (5 behind neck strict press, 5 behind neck push press) @25-30kg
  • 4x (3+3 supinated pull ups)
  • 3 x 25 second ring brace, alternated with 3 x 12 cross body scapula pulls

Also saw the physio. Seems the issue is just poor hip mobility, so he's given me some exercises.

Zame · 17/06/2016 12:11

I went to the gym yesterday, 36 minutes on the cycling machine, 6 minutes on the skiing machine and a tragic 5 minutes on the rowing machine. My god it was hard! So I think I'll try and spend some more time on the rowing machine next time.
I did a 10k this morning, not as slowly as if planned but it went well

ElephantMug · 17/06/2016 13:42

Good work everyone.
Yesterday I went to Spin, and did a half hour jog with my 8 year old. Today I played badminton for an hour.

Tsotofamily · 17/06/2016 16:14

40 min dog walk

Don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to waddle around for, it's starting to get really uncomfortable

OublietteBravo · 17/06/2016 19:45

Day 17: back to NMTZ. Time for a shower and to stick my horrible smelly kit in the washing machine

Day 18, 1km swim. Super hungry now so distracting myself at the park with the littlies.

OublietteBravo · 18/06/2016 21:20

Day 18: 6W6P L2 (I've lost track of how many times I've done this circuit - maybe day 4?).

Well, I was right, this week was hideous with work, dh away and dad in hospital but I was checking in on all the great exercise being done and keeping me inspired! I tried to walk as much as possible, but not as much as I wanted and nothing more strenuous. So this evening I am hoping to get started again and just did a 45 min walk. Onward I go...

Wildernesstips · 19/06/2016 11:51

Sorry to hear about your dad Kanye.

I fell off the exercise wagon but am back on it again today with a strenuous hill climb/walk for 40 minutes. My biggest downfall is that if I miss a day I lose momentum/motivation. I think I am an all or nothing girl!
