Juneathon 2016 - anyone want to join us?

OublietteBravo · 22/05/2016 13:41

Basic premis: try to do 30 min exercise every day in June.

Any kind of exercise: walking, running, swimming, climbing, dancing, circuits - the choice is yours!

From experience, every day can be a bit much. So feel free to join in even if you don't think you can manage this. Last year I aimed for 5 days per week, which worked well for me.

If you want to start before June, there is a thread here

Rest day today...I've spent the afternoon chasing 27 five and six year olds around dd's soft play party. I need alcohol.

ARichVernacular · 11/06/2016 18:06

I had a bit of a funny turn yesterday when I got home and still feel wobbly and knackered. Also DH had some dental work done yesterday and isn't feeling great, so I skipped my usual zumba class this morning to let him have a nap.

Not sure I'm cut out for Juneathon Blush It's good to keep trying though! Just so hard to fit everything in Confused

KittyandTeal · 11/06/2016 18:09

Arich I hope you're feeling better soon.

Are you possibly over doing it? I've deliberately decided not to do every day as it will knacker me out too much.

Maybe build in every other day and build up a bit.

ARichVernacular · 11/06/2016 18:19

That's a good idea Kitty. It's frustrating because I'm limited in what I can do: can't run or do anything high impact because of my back - even that 10mins of HIIT the other day gave me backache - and I still haven't learnt to ride a bike, so although I'm very strong and flexible thanks to yoga, my cardio fitness is crap.

DH doesn't get home till 7.30 on a good day so it's hard to get to classes at the gym - hence the Saturday zumba!

ARichVernacular · 11/06/2016 18:20

I have managed to walk more this week though, so it's not all bad :)

ElephantMug · 11/06/2016 19:39

Good work everyone. Zame, I love Spinning, I used to be scared of the idea of it but if you tell the instructor you're new they should have no problem with you going easy on sprints or hills or whatever if you need to. It's a great workout. I love it and go twice a week. feels like torture when I'm in there but great afterwards
I did badminton and a 45 minute fast walk yesterday, and a 45 minute bike ride today (with a 15 kilo toddler on the back of my bike. And LOTS of hills)

OublietteBravo · 11/06/2016 21:27

I'm a bit late to the party today. In fact I very nearly cracked and had a rest day. But in the end I managed to put my kit on and do NMTZ. So I'm on 11/11 so far.

I've not updated for a few days but been plodding on with yoga and dog walks every day and C25K on some days too.

Zame · 11/06/2016 22:50

Thanks elephant, I think I might sign up to a gym next week and have a crack at it.
I think I'll be having a rest day tomorrow, my left calf is aching and my right knee is a bit sore so I'll do the minimum tomorrow

Tsotofamily · 12/06/2016 08:24

No walk yesterday and possibly not today. Think this little lady is on the move down as been having a really bad pain on and off in my left groin

Zame · 12/06/2016 08:57

Ouch I don't blame you! I wish I'd been like you during my pregnancies and tried to keep active,
I just sat on my arse eating multipacks of chocolate bars .
How many weeks are you now?

Tsotofamily · 12/06/2016 09:42

Lol I was like that when I had my 3rd but I got the fitness bug just before I fell pregnant with this one. I'm 34 weeks now so not to much longer to go. I'm going to wait for my 6 week check then I have a whole exercise regime sorted out well that's the plan. Will carry on with the walking tho once she's here as I need to get the dogs out and for my own sanity too

KittyandTeal · 12/06/2016 13:47

Did my quick 5k today after a rest and lots of treats yesterday. I definitely benefitted from the rest.

Long run tmrw.

OublietteBravo · 12/06/2016 20:37

Really muggy again here, plus I'm generally feeling tired. So just a 30 min circuit for me today (a low-impact version of 6W6P L1) for day 12.

Wow, Tsotofamily, that's great going for somebody very pregnant!
Zame, let us know how you get on if you try a Spinning class, good luck.

I did 30 minutes swimming with my DD and went to Pump today.

KanyesVest · 12/06/2016 23:42

Very humid and heavy here today too, Oubliette, but I dragged myself around a 30min plod this evening. Don't think I'll get to do anything tomorrow, as I've a big work event.

Day 9

AnnPerkins · 13/06/2016 09:46

Well done Oubiette for your 100% record to date. I honestly didn't have time on Friday (protesting too much?! Grin) so I did a 30 minute run followed by core stretch workout on Saturday.

And I missed yesterday too Sad so will do double again tonight. The humidity did make it hard on Saturday, though, I'm hoping it will be a bit cooler tonight.

Zame · 13/06/2016 11:36

I've had a 40 minute swim today and will probably go for a walk later. I would've liked to have swim for longer but the pool was really busy. My legs, from the knees down are sill twingy and sore it's so frustrating!

KittyandTeal · 13/06/2016 12:00

Done my 10k but it was a real struggle. Still not feeling 100% with a stomach thing. So frustrating as I have my race in under a month and I wanted to be under 1:05 but at the moment under 1:10 will make me happy!

ElephantMug · 13/06/2016 16:34

Ok, I went a bit mad today. DH had the car, and I really wanted to go to Yoga. So I put that toddler on my bike, cycled to the gym (1/2 hr), amazingly got there in time for Spin, went to Spin, went to Yoga and cycled home. I'm knackered now.

Zame · 13/06/2016 17:16

I might risk a 10k tomorrow, Im thinking my leg pains are from doing the shred as Jillian doesn't do a very long cool down and stretch afterwards and I've done a few stretches today so maybe I'll manage a slow one

Tsotofamily · 13/06/2016 17:29

Managed a 20 min slow pace walk today, but got a parents evening up at school tonight so that will be another 10-15 min's.

Well done all on all the exercise makes me very envious that I can't do much else at the moment but I'm hoping this thread will carry on Grin

OublietteBravo · 13/06/2016 20:19

Day 13: I did the cardio circuit from One Week Shred - mostly because I felt like a bit of variety. I'm off to jump in the shower, as I'm now very sweaty.

Bit of a catch up as I've been away and didn't post

Friday: 9k run round Hyde Park
Saturday : 9k run round Hyde Park
Sunday: too hungover
Monday: 8k run back in HK- so humid and hot.
Today: Personal training

  • 4 x (5 behind neck strict press, 5 behind neck push press) @25-30kg
  • 4x (3+3 supinated pull ups)
  • 3 x 15 second ring brace, alternated with 3 x 12 cross body scapula pulls
  • 4 rounds of (20 cals assault bike, 10 press ups, 15 ring rows)

So I've burned both my 2 wild cards (I initially committed to 28 days out of 30) but at the same time I'm pretty pleased I only missed one day when I had 2 long haul flights and a 40th bday party over 4 days.

KBFF today and yesterday.
