Sounds like a great weekend AuntieStella, hope it goes well and you get good weather.
Wee hilly forest run for me, felt good

Gym commute to add. I also seem to have attracted even more random Russians and Colorado vegans (sorry, "plant powered athletes") on Strava. Odd.

I didn't think I would get out today but I forced myself. I have put on lots of weight (not sure if it is a hormonal thing) and I feel like I am dragging myself round!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/11/2016 21:45

Extra weight doesn't help stilllearnin, I feel like that too at times. You still got out there though!

Normal Thursday morning run and kept my neighbour company this evening.

Sophie, we were discussing the amount of weirdos on strava tonight!

6.2 miles from club run tonight. Hilly and muddy tonight - think it's time to get some trail shoes!

Beautiful morning here in the 852. Oxfam Trailwalker today so lots of my friends are sweating over the hills as I type this from the comfort of my office.

13k run with my friend with the dodgy ankle. We tested her on technical trail this morning (only been doing tarmac to date) and took it very easy but her stability was pretty good.

emummy · 18/11/2016 10:23

Short recovery run today, managed to avoid all the ice, it was -4!
Glad your friend's ankle is improving Keyser

Rather ploddy 10 miles this morning. Just felt like a lot of effort, especially the stepped climbs, but possibly due to not sleeping that well and a bit dehydrated as side effect of kick ass Chinese cough medicine (stops you coughing but makes you rather awake and seems to suck the moisture from your body!!). Anyway, it's done.

400

stilllearnin · 19/11/2016 09:55

keyser are you sure that is medicine? Wink

I did 5.33 miles this morning. I dread the slippy paths - my shoes are wannabe ice skates. Is there anything I can do except run later in the day?

A hell of a week all round for me...but I stuck to every session.

So 405.33

emummy · 19/11/2016 11:22

Well done still, it's so easy to just give in sometimes, takes strong willpower to keep going out.
No good solution for slippy paths. When it's very icy I wear yaktrax but mostly I prefer to go off-road and avoid paths. Or take the chance to practice your ice dance skills?!

emummy · 20/11/2016 13:07

Beautiful day here, though very cold. Sympathies to all those battling through storms. Didn't run first thing as I needed more sleep and it was -6! So went later, much warmer at -1, gorgeous in the sunshine and frost.

Aargh!

I had a lovely weekend walking - tiring on Sat but within capability.

Went for a run this morning and had to stop after a couple of miles because of awful pain in calf. No obvious slips, trips or stumbles. But that calf had been a little tender late last week.

What now? I've been rolling a rounders ball into it, and it's fractionally less sore, but I need to favour that side when walking and stairs are awkward.

Anyone else ever crocked themselves like this? How long should I rest it for? I was thinking of going for a walk at the times I'd run (so I stay in the habit iofgoing out), but is there anything else I should be doing? Or avoiding?

444.34

KeyserSophie · 22/11/2016 06:11

Hmm, kind of depends what you've done. If it's very painful it could be a calf tear, but you normally realise those have happened at the time. I'd do the walks instead of the runs if it doesnt hurt, but otherwise I'd just rest it.

Just adding a gym commute. I'm going to the UK tomorrow for a few days. The thing I'm looking forward to most is Parkrun. I. am. sad.

Early morning 3hr round trip to deliver dog to vets, really needed a run! Nice brisk tempo run in the rain, all better now

stilllearnin · 22/11/2016 13:21

Mr first ever proper rainy run! 4 miles to add - so pleased I got out.
How's it going stella

cinnamongreyhound · 22/11/2016 21:47

No help AuntieStella, hope it improves soon!

Me too stilllearnin, was sooooooo tired today but felt much better after a run!

just passing by with 3.4 miles to add - speedier than recently (but that would not be hard, believe me!)

Usual Thursday morning run in the dark with the dogs 467.4

Speedy 10k, club session and post run plod to add 18.6

lastqueenofscotland · 24/11/2016 21:42

Keyser there is nothing sad about looking forward to parkrun! Which one are you going to?

emummy · 25/11/2016 10:53

Hilly forest run today, still very cold. Have now learned that it is harder to breathe when it's -6, something that makes running up steep rocky hills quite tricky! And that low winter sun doesn't help - how many roots did I trip over today?! Nice scenery though..

stilllearnin · 25/11/2016 15:23

Blimey emummy I'm envious of your fitness and a bit in awe!

Realised I hadn't taken a lunch break today and so stepped out for a quick 2.6 miles round the park at the back of my house. Beautiful and sunny! Now back to the grindstone!
