Ha! needastrongone I will let you know! Grin

KeyserSophie · 27/10/2016 10:25

Despite good intentions re. track, I have done no running this week- work has been such a 'mare. I'm meant to be part time and think I've been in all day every day for the last 3 weeks.

Ah well, at least I'll be fresh for my race on Saturday. Forecast is 30 degrees Shock

emummy · 27/10/2016 11:04

Good luck keyser, hope the heat doesn't cause you any problems.
Hilly short run this morning in woods, beautiful Autumn colours everywhere.

I probably won't be able to fit in another run until we're back home.

So went out to see if I could run for a bit longer this morning. Beautiful morning, running on dunes, then beach, then round a park, then back along the beach.

I am amazed with myself. Remember I started running only in August. Just over 10k in 1hr 5. This is the furthest I have ever run. Barely a pause and I could still talk even in the last km. Legs feeling pleasantly zingy now.

Well done Stella!

5 miles for me this evening so 778.36

emummy · 28/10/2016 12:55

Sound like a lovely run AuntieStella.
after helping with school running club went for a wee run through different woods as practice for cross country today, great fun, lovely sunny morning.

Did a 23k stage of a 70k relay today with 3 guys I work with (the stages are different lengths). Very hot (hit 30 around midday)and very tough (+1000m, ridiculously technical- scrambled over boulders for about 3k at one point), but I got through it. My glutes have never been so sore - I can't bear to touch my own butt Grin

Well done Sophie, sounds like a challenging route indeed.

Lovely sounding run Stella

9.5 miles today, including the Parkrun, which I ran 2 minutes faster than last week, so the fitness is slowly returning. I did just under 28 minutes. Sadly, this used to be my easy run pace, but hey ho, it's now my 5k pace Grin

Wow Sophie! Makes my 4 mile treadmill run see like nothing

Fantastic running Keyser, well done!

Easy run along the old railway line for me this morning, couple of rain showers but otherwise fine

5 mile group run this morning. Struggled but so did a few other which was reassuring!

A flying visit. Sneaking in with just 2.5 miles to finish the month..

Quick 4.5 miler with my friend. She broke her foot 2 mths ago and is just getting back into it so we took it easy. My butt still hurts so not sure I was in such better shape than she was.

Now resisting the temptation to scoff a load of the kids' halloween candy.

3.1 from Saturday and 6.7 tempo from tonight.

I have a bit of a dilemma... I recently took a colleague to parkrun and jogged round with her sort of thinking it would be a one off, but she is now asking for a lift there virtually every week, and I get the feeling expects me to run with her. Which I don't mind once in a while, and I do try and tail run every now and then etc, but I am really not enjoying plodding round at 12 minute miles every week. He slowest I'll ever go by myself is about 10 min miles, and while I'm no Kipligat I can get a good time and top 5/10 finishes etc, I'm also training for quite a decent half marathon time in Feb and could do with cutting the junk mileage. Would you be offended if a faster running friend didn't want to go round th course with you? I'm more than happy to take her there/get a coffee with her etc but I also want to actually enjoy the run which i don't at that pace.

Well done AuntieStella!!

2 mins is great Needsastrongone!!

Amazing as always KeyserSophie!

I think that's perfectly reasonable lastqueenofscotland, I run with a friend during the week and at parkrun I usually what are you doing today. If she wants to go for it then we don't chat and she usually leaves me behind, sometimes we run and chat and sometimes she runs with another friends day and don't want to go that slow so leave her. That's what parkrun is all about, I would expect the slower person to say don't worry about staying with me.

Cinnamon in my logical head that's what j think would happen, I go to one with SIL sometimes and she is rapid (sub 20!) and we don't run together, she speeds off, I limp in a few mins after then we go for coffee...

Maybe when she asks for a lift I'll just say "oh was going to try another gear if you don't mind me going ahead"

Just don't want her to think I'm "above" it or anything!

KeyserSophie · 01/11/2016 04:46

LastQueen It's a tricky one, but if she is grumpy about it then it's her, not you, so unless she decides your bonus I'd bite the bullet and just say that you need to start using Parkrun as your speedwork , so you'll need to go flat out and you'll see her after.

Adding a leisurely 7ish km (4.5 miles) from my two way gym commute- was on the phone most of the way there and hit every light on the way back. Still, a run's a run.

Sirzy · 01/11/2016 05:09

I sometimes go to parkrun with a faster friend and would never expect him to wait back for me. He stands at the finish cheering me on instead!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/11/2016 08:16

You perhaps say it's park of your training plan that parkrun has to be at a certain speed so for now you're going to need to aim for that speed but you don't mind doing the odd one at a more leisurely pace. Some Saturday I just can't be bothered to run at 5k pace!

Ooh yes, good idea Cinnamon. Blame it on a "coach". Then you can act all "oh this is so annoying" and she cant hate on you.

Lovely trail run this morning- a balmy 23 and the humidity has dropped right off. Reclaimed my Strava CR on this massive steep hill ( running down it I may add- involves zero running skill but it's quite scary)

Also, just a question on Strava or running social media platforms generally. So, I get the concept of "click bait" and strategies designed to generate massive "like and share" stats, but what is the point of people giving you kudos and asking to follow you on Strava when they dont know you? Is there a commercial point or are they just weirdo stalkers? I dont lock down my profile but I'm just interested in why Yugo from Moscow is liking all my stuff. Pretty sure my profile picture is not luring him into wanting to marry me.

I thought that on garmin KeyserSophie, I have requests all the time and I don't even do impressive distances/inclines/pace like you so I have no idea. Still a bit baffled by strava but now parkrun have joined all events to strava I feel I should know a little more!
