12 to add (with 1100m climbing) after work yesterday. Seemed like a good idea at the time and didn't feel too bad- I did the worst 5k with a couple of friends. Got home. Felt really vomitous and spent the next 2 hrs trying to drink without puking and calamitising about having to get put on a drip (didn't happen). I had that really achy leg feeling you normally only get after long races. Guess I'm not quite as "back on it" as I thought Grin

Cant believe the temps in Europe. The "shorter" UTMB races have been going on and people have been dropping like flies.

Warm and sunny fartlek session in the forest, fell but no damage done!

Looks like we have got mixed up with the mileage, have recalculated and I make it 666.37, hope that's right!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/08/2016 21:38

Depends on the club 0ellenbrody0, mine does very little training at the track for seniors. Worth an ask!

We've had 31C this week keysersophie and 27-28C most days, love it. Although it's not great for running!! Morning runs are ok but evenings have been a struggle.

If you did 6.63 I make it the same emummy.

Lovely relaxed 8am Shock very late morning for me run! Little dog managed to collide with a squirrel but then it escaped up a tree, phew!!! 670.37

ouch ouch pirifomis!!!

KeyserSophie · 27/08/2016 09:51

16k this morning, which is 10 miles, but I'll only book 50% as there was a LOT of hiking going on as it was just so damn hot.

stilllearnin I think Anglaise had that, so maybe she can advise on what to ice.

675.37

stilllearnin · 27/08/2016 19:57

And yet 8.25 this morning and I felt ok!

5k yesterday morning to add. Did some good hill sets so not the fastest time but I'm getting better at hills which is good as I want to do a 10k with a renowned hill next March!

686.72

emummy · 28/08/2016 10:58

Well done sirzy, hills are great but not always fun! Struggled a bit with mine this morning, was feeling a bit down about slowness of my long run, but looked at stats afterwards and realised I'd done over 2000ft of ascent and felt a bit better! Won't be doing a lot this afternoon though, sofa time I think!

Where I live is pretty hilly but until now I have always planned routes so run down the worst of them not up!

emummy · 28/08/2016 14:23

Down is definitely better! It's your reward for all the up

Sirzy · 28/08/2016 16:31

Really had to drag myself out today, but knew I couldn't run tomorrow so needed to get out. So pleased I did as I managed 29.01 for a 5k which is a PB! When I checked At 4 k I knew I was on track and could either head uphill to home or downhill away from home - to keep my chances alive I went for downhill, meant I had a 1.5km walk as there was no way my legs would have carried on running!

karatekimmi · 28/08/2016 21:32

I managed a 10 miler today - I got talked into a 14 mile but we passed by her house at 10 miles and it was hot and the last 4 were uphill so her DH dropped us back at the cars!! Very happy with 10miles though

Surprisingly nice 17 miles this morning, maybe because I essentially had a week off running last week. Getting very close to longest run of my life, exciting! Annoyingly my Garmin appears to be dead, feel like I haven't had it long (maybe 3 years?) so am lucky I had company the whole way. Otherwise no stats. Then what would I do?!

730.12

Anglaise1 · 29/08/2016 18:45

Devil well done your 17 miles, regarding your Garmin is it dead because the screen is blank? Mine does that sometimes, if I press all 4 buttons at once it comes back to life.
Still I have permanent tendonitis in my buttocks so it is agony sitting down but generally OK running. I don't think its the same as piriformis so I can't offer any advice, but I'm sure there are some stretching exercises which would help I never bother stretching after runs which is really bad.
18.5 miles to add since Friday, feel broken all over with bad knee, bum and arthritis in foot so not expecting to do at all well in the HM next Sunday. But it is a pretty race to do along the coastal road from Cancale to St Malo.

lastqueenofscotland · 30/08/2016 00:08

24 to add! I'll catch up with everything tomorrow
772.62

stilllearnin · 30/08/2016 06:35

Anglaise - that all sounds bloody painful. I am bad at stretching too - although I do a fair bit of yoga and so I get a good stretch out most days. I think my pain is triggered by trying to do intervals uphill when I am not quite fit enough!

4.1 miles yesterday.

devilinmyshoes · 30/08/2016 07:29

Ouch anglaise :( I don't really believe in stretching or foam rollering, i do organise routes so there is scope for a sort of stretching out and cooling down walk at the end. If I'm with other runners who stretch I join in but when left to own devices I just eat drink have a bath.

devilinmyshoes · 30/08/2016 07:54

Garmin is dead because its battery life has dwindled from 10 training hours to just under 2 - no human in the world can run a marathon in that time (yet!). They could probably sort it out for me but I'm using it as an excuse for a new one, anyone recommend theirs? This is a 220, I wouldn't mind something a bit more multisport.

emummy · 30/08/2016 11:49

Interval session in the woods, rather hot, so walked the rest sections. Today's learning point: when you program your watch to do intervals, pay attention to it! I did an extra hard run when I should have been on my cool down mile! Numpty.

KeyserSophie · 30/08/2016 13:45

7 to add here. I ran to track tonight to see if a longer warm up would benefit me and it did, massively so. Actually the run there was longer than the session, which was quite short- 5 x 800m (there was also a warm up bit but i underestimated my run there so missed that).

790.42

0ellenbrody0 · 30/08/2016 21:05

2 runs to add. I managed my first 10k! (Not a race, just myself) I never imagined I'd be able to do that. I started running at Easter (c25k) so I'm super chuffed. Did 6.1k tonight, was quite hot (27c), I was literally POURING with sweat. 10 to add.

Sirzy · 30/08/2016 21:13

5k done this morning. Ds is back at school on Friday so planning a long run for Friday morning, off to buy some gels tomorrow as my last "long" run I think I literally ran out of fuel!

LaughingM · 30/08/2016 21:32

Hi everyone! Was on this thread ages ago but then dropped off somewhere - although have been running in the meantime! Did c25k about two years ago and ran my first half in May (which was v hot and v hard but so glad I did it!). I've been feeling a bit aimless since then but have signed up to do a 10k at the end of september and I'm considering the great south run in October...

Well done everyone running through the heat! Some amazing distances going on here.

I'll start adding runs from when I got back from holiday... so that's a 4km, 10km and 8km but we're counting in miles right? I think that's 13.6 miles so 814.02
