The night run was great, I ran in a team of 6 (all of us parkrunners). We ran near the back so we had a great view of all the headlamps bobbing along in the pitch black. For anyone who knows Wimpole Hall, it was the Wimpole parkrun, including the hill plus a couple of km loop the hill didn't feel too bad, I think because you couldn't see quite how big it is Grin. It stayed dry and wasn't too cold (and there was a coffee van at the end for hot drinks). Unfortunately I took a tumble in some mud, and have managed to hurt my shoulder. I was caked in mud from ankle to waist - and hadn't taken a change of clothes with me so the car is a bit of a mess - fortunately there was a plastic bag to sit on Grin.

We enjoyed it so much that we're thinking of signing up for a pretty muddy 5K in the summer Smile

FiftyNineOhEight · 13/03/2016 22:25

Oh and gruber I have been to Blickling a couple of tines, it's lovely.

standingonlego · 14/03/2016 17:58

Catching up, missed parkrun for 2 weeks now due to illness and then skiing. Delighted to see everyone had good runs, I am doing a rare spot of tourism this Saturday somewhere near Derby...

gruber · 14/03/2016 22:33

Ah, now I really have found my home - love Wimpole! (We're life members so do a fair bit of NTrust touring...)
I'm signed up for pretty muddy in the summer, naively thought that there wouldn't be much mud in July until I was informed they create it!

FiftyNineOhEight · 15/03/2016 07:06

I didn't know that gruber! But it makes sense, my local one is in a country park, but it's not muddy at that time of year.

Blatherskite · 15/03/2016 09:31

Oh yes, at last years ROCKSOLID we had a digger dump big piles of mud from the bottom of the lake into the warm up areas especially Grin

Runninggirl63 · 15/03/2016 22:20

I did a Pretty Muddy in Coventry last year - there were only about 6 obstacles and the really muddy bit wasn't until near the end. There was one pool of fresh liquid mud ( that was being pumped in) and then a big slide at the end that was muddy. I tried it to see if I'd like doing any of the bigger Wolf Run type events but decided I wouldn't! That said I did it on my own and no doubt would be better as a group.

I did do cross country for my running club for the first time ever this winter however and enjoyed that.

Glad to hear the night run was a success.

chutneypig · 16/03/2016 07:11

OCR is not for me Grin. I briefly considered a trail race last weekend but DH pointed out the site mentioned getting over stiles and I'm a bit challenged at that at the best of times never mind under pressure. I went for a run on muddy very flat canal side grass instead and found that hard enough so think he was probably right Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 16/03/2016 21:11

Me neither chutneypig! Running in a straight line, mud free is perfect for me Wink

A few of us from this thread did WOLF run a (couple of!?!) year(s) ago and had loads of fun. I did Pretty Tough for my birthday last year. Funnily enough, I've never done ROCKSOLID as I marshalled the first year then they gave me a job before I managed to use up my free run. I was supposed to be having a go this weekend but went over on my ankle today and landed on my opposite knee so now I'm limping and don't think I'll be running.

feetheart · 17/03/2016 10:06

We (various club/parkrunners) are looking at doing a Pretty Muddy this year 59 I'm not sure if I can do our local one so might be tempted to come up your way :)
First outing on our altered course this Saturday - so far we have 12 marshals (and I'm sure more will come forward). On our 3.5 lap course they are going to be every 75m so hopefully we won't lose any runners :o

HalleLouja · 17/03/2016 11:34

Feet why the change of route? Am still meaning to come and will do soon.

feetheart · 17/03/2016 11:48

Halle - the museum has closed for 6 months to be refurbished so part of our route will be surrounded by hoardings Shock Don't worry, the 'slope' is still there and you still have to run up it 4 times :o

standingonlego · 17/03/2016 16:10

Thanks to a friends amazing fundraising drive and inspirational battle against cancer we are doing the race for life triple here in Northampton.

Pretty muddy on Saturday, then the 10k AND the 5k on the Sunday Shock

It seemed like a good idea when it was proposed, getting a bit scary now!

standingonlego · 17/03/2016 16:11

How are you feeling blathers?

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/03/2016 19:22

Good grief lego that is hardcore.

feet come up to ours and bring your team and we can be one big one Smile

Blathers you poor thing ((()))

chutneypig · 18/03/2016 07:04

How's your knee doing Blathers?

I hope you don't lose anyone feet, sounds like you've got it covered!

That is a great challenge standing. So many things seem like a good idea when they're first mentioned Grin but that's a very good reason to push yourselves.

Just read the newlestter, I love the idea of the walking platform, especially thinking back to that thread a couple of months back when people were concerned about trying parkrun if they were going to walk sections.

feetheart · 19/03/2016 07:08

Happy parkrunday everyone :)
Up early fretting about how the new course will work. However the whole core team is turning up at 8am to set-up, we have 20 marshals (more than double the usual number as they kept offering :o :o) and flapjacks for the post-run post-mortem. It will all be fine . . .

MelanieCheeks · 19/03/2016 07:37

Hope all goes well, Feetheart!

One of my friends is doing her 100th today, so that'll be fun. Weather a bit damp, but as long as it doesn't pour we'll be grand.

MyBlackCat · 19/03/2016 08:07

Good luck feet

I'm on parkrun number 40 today, can't decide whether to run easy or whether to go for it as I've got my first ever duathlon tomorrow Shock

FiftyNineOhEight · 19/03/2016 08:35

Happy parkrun day.

feet you'll be great Smile.

Enjoy melanie

MyBlackCat I'd be inclined to take it easy, but I've no idea really. Hope it goes well tomorrow.

Is a bit cold and drizzly here as well.

SugarDiabetes · 19/03/2016 11:50

2nd parkrun under my belt. Got a new PB (so faster than last week!) at 30.10.

Am aiming for under 30 next week Confused

MyBlackCat · 19/03/2016 13:54

Oops I didn't go easy, started feeling nice and relaxed, felt good so just kept going, last km was tough but got rewarded with a good time. Smile No doubt I will regret it on the 2nd run leg tomorrow Shock

Hope everyone had good runs today x

MyBlackCat · 19/03/2016 13:55

Well done sugar I'm sure you will get sub 30 next week Smile

ThursdayLastWeek · 19/03/2016 16:15
