Lovely morning here.
DS (10) and his mate (9) are RD today (on the back of a late night due to our bi-monthly parkrun curry night!) They are introducing our new PB bell.
What they don't know is that I have got them matching RD vests in a much smaller size :o

Happy parkrunday everyone :)

chutneypig · 13/08/2016 07:51

What a lovely surprise feet and hope that bell gets rung a lot.

Have a great run everyone, on tour or at home.

First family run in over a month, between being away and a few niggles. Bright. It hopefully not too warm here.

FiftyNineOhEight · 13/08/2016 08:25

Looking forward to seeing the photos feet!

Have good runs everyone. I am running at home before taking DS1 back to his University town where he has a job for the summer. That means that DH gets to take both DSs clothes shopping while I am at parkrun SmileGrin

standingonlego · 13/08/2016 08:29

It looks like a lovely morning for a run folks - enjoy!

Good luck to minifeet, tell me how the PB bell works?

PurplePidjin · 13/08/2016 09:13

feet 😂😂😂 bet they love it

Ds was getting stroppy yesterday because he wants to run on his own like the big boys. He currently holds daddy's hand. We've said he doesn't have to hold hands but daddy must stay with him. We shall see Hmm

feetheart · 13/08/2016 12:55

Not actually that small in the end :)

It was a very soggy parkrun this morning! Got round in 35.22 which knocked a minute off my friends pb so both really pleased with that. I really enjoyed it as well.

If anyone is in north Devon ours is Bideford parkrun - don't appear to be on the tourist map linked to earlier although our junior run is.

We are very friendly :)

0ellenbrody0 · 13/08/2016 17:02

Went off a bit too fast today, ours is a 2 lap course and I really struggled on the second. I even had to gave 3 little walk breaks (about 10 steps each time). Managed a pb, but I did NOT enjoy myself. Must learn to pace myself better.

MyBlackCat · 13/08/2016 17:29

Got out sprinted by a ten year old today Shock I was a pretty competitive sprinter in my youth Sad

MelanieCheeks · 13/08/2016 19:04

Really lovely run this morning at Colin Glen

If you're ever over here with children, its Gruffalo trail is one to try.

FiftyNineOhEight · 13/08/2016 19:16

Too cute feet Grin I hear you had some Bedford visitors last week when we were cancelled for the Proms in the Park Wink

Pidj did Daddy manage to keep up with DS1?

BlackCat same here. I was outdone at the finish by a small boy and his Dad.

Waves to lego, tiggaa and Melanie

Well done 0ellen on your PB Star

Blathers thank you for the tourist tool - I had it saved a while ago but it was down for a bit so I had stopped looking at it.

I was talking to one of our ladies today who is on course for her 250 by the end of the year Grin Shock. I am hoping for my 25 volunteer shirt this year.

MelanieCheeks · 13/08/2016 19:50

I had several targets this year-150 runs in total, 100 at wallace, and the 25 volunteer shirt. Not sure I can do them all, but I'll achieve at least one.

PurplePidjin · 13/08/2016 19:58

Fifty daddy runs a 23 on a good day alone today they managed 46. If ds1 would bloody concentrate we reckon he'd be sub35 but he wanders off asking questions and wanting to join the football 😂 going to try a different one next week, only 2 laps and hopefully no distracting balls Wink as he runs better on the winter course despite the massive hill at the end. MV would be a good one but it's a bit too far away i don't get going very fast in the morning after my 2 hours sleep

PurplePidjin · 13/08/2016 19:59

Dh's pre-stroke 5k was 19 minutes, I just made him sad asking Sad

swampytiggaa · 13/08/2016 20:13

I am hoping to get my 25 volunteer tee shirt this year - think I am on 17. I do juniors each week so it is clocking up nicely!

Having the chat tomorrow about run director :) will let you know what i decide!

MelanieCheeks · 14/08/2016 07:23

I've managed to join the parkrun tourists Facebook group - more terms (cow cowl, anyone?) and targets (Lon-done) to understand!

londonmummy1966 · 14/08/2016 09:11

Had a rather funny time as tail runner yesterday. Started out well with a rather large lady wanting to walk run - DD wanted to stick to me so we jogged along happily to the bottom of the first hill - she then struggled to walk up it. Took one look at the next hill (about 500m of ascent) and decided to call it a day - had never run in her life and didn't realise it was hard. Anyway gave some advice - C25k and a nearby parkrun which is flat. By then we were miles behind the rest of the tail and being lapped. SO DD decides the 16 minuters whizzing past were the ideal pacemakers for us to catch the rest of the tail. Took 2km to catch them by which time I was only too happy to slow down. DD whizzed on ahead for the final KM clocking 36 minutes which I though was pretty good given we had walked most of the first KM. She also managed to come in 3 minutes ahead of the tail so it must have been a very fast final KM for her. One of the girls in the tail group was doing her first run after a lengthy break and was desperate to come in at under 40 minutes so she will have been delighted with the 39.30 or so that the end group managed with a bit of a sprint to the funnel.

So a rather faster paced run than I had expected as tail runner....

cinnamongreyhound · 14/08/2016 09:42

Haven't read through yesterday's but will be back! Ran with doggy and no neighbour, really disappointed with my time by hey ho!

FiftyNineOhEight we need a new thread ShockShockShock

FiftyNineOhEight · 14/08/2016 10:42

Oh my goodness cinners yes we do. I will start one and link here if nobody else has yet.

pidj 19 minutes is super-human. To be running a parkrun in 23 minutes is still up there. And to think that DH is only running about a minute and a bit a mile slower after all he has been through is still pretty special.

Melanie I think I am on 18 different runs. We have some new ones within striking distance, but next on my list is a visit to cinners

london that has happened to me too more than once, must have been something I said We are two and a half laps so it is quite easy for people to drop out. DD did really well!

FiftyNineOhEight · 14/08/2016 10:55

new thread

FiftyNineOhEight · 14/08/2016 10:55

FiftyNineOhEight · 14/08/2016 10:56
