Oh. That's quite depressing then!!!!!

cheapandcheerful · 08/02/2016 08:03

Are you kidding???

MelanieCheeks · 08/02/2016 08:27

Wait till you're in the V group!

cinnamongreyhound · 08/02/2016 09:16

Senior just adult. J is junior, s is senior and v is veteran (which I think is over 40?)

HalleLouja · 08/02/2016 09:49

I haven't been to parkrun for a few weeks. Will be back on it.

HalleLouja · 08/02/2016 09:53

You only have to be 35 to be in the V group. 40 for men. Blatant sexism. I bliming started running when I was 35.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/02/2016 10:38

I just check HalleLouja I'm now crying I'm a veteran Sad we did have a male this week who was VM35-39 so in parkrun it's the same Smile

I am a verteran, started running aged 48!

very pleased today, I ran 5km, in the pouring rain, and it was faster than I have done for ages.
I have unintentionally had a week off, and my knee is much better for it. I suddenly realised on sat that it hadn't woken me up aching for the first time.
It let me run faster and it is only a bit achy now.

HalleLouja · 08/02/2016 11:54

I thought it was different but they are the same on parkrun. Other running races they do start men later as V's.

feetheart · 08/02/2016 15:04

Bit late but we ran at Sherwood Pines parkrun on Saturday - a beautiful 1-lap course in pine forest which smelled wonderful. DS said he would like to have that smell in his room so would I :)

Melanie - your blog made it onto the ED Facebook page :)

Well done to everyone who ran in the rain - it actually stopped as our run started.
Back home with DS and his mate as RDs this week.

MelanieCheeks · 08/02/2016 19:19

Ooooh, thanks Feet! Glad it amused so many.

Blatherskite · 08/02/2016 21:02

I missed both parkruns last weekend! It was wet and I'm trying desperately to fend off the tonsillitis that's threatening.

Will make up for it this weekend

MelanieCheeks · 10/02/2016 08:13

Hmmm, where to this Saturday? I'll be with the parents on Friday in Portstewart (raiding my mum's photo box for a montage for her upcoming significant birthday)

So Portrush is the obvious choice, where I've still to sub-30. BUT it looks like high tide this weekend. Could do Limavady, but they only had 28 runners last week, just about all of them faster than me. Or Derry, though I promised them I'd be back to show off my 100 shirt, which I haven't got yet. Or else rush back to Belfast to join parkrun Jim, who'll be the first man in Ireland to get his 250.

FiftyNineOhEight · 10/02/2016 21:42

Choices, choices Melanie

I have traded ironing DH's shirts (he usually does them himself) for parkrun on Saturday (one of us had to be somewhere with DS2 between 9 and 10:30) Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 11/02/2016 10:11

Hope you're feeling better now blatherskite, I'm feeling nervous about my tourism now after your experience! Hopefully you'll get to some kind of parkrun this weekend.

Hmm ironing istead of parkrun, are you mad?!?

I love your dilemmas each week melaniecheeks!!!

Sherwood sounds lovely feetheart!

I think Portrush will have it. There's a Run Mummy Run event happening, so there's bound to be good buns, given that TraybakesTheSizeOfYourHead are the local speciality.

FiftyNineOhEight · 11/02/2016 17:05

No cinners I ironed the shirts today in return for parkrun this Saturday - DH is on DS duty. I never iron anything, I gave up wearing suits and shirts for work years ago Grin We were away at the weekend, so last week's shirts got washed but didn't get ironed. Actually DH was very sweet, parkrun is totally not his thing - he injured himself badly a few years ago, which led to some big surgery and he is only able to run once a week, so prefers to do along and steady 8 miles or so, not a short and fast 5K. But he got up last Saturday with me, drove me to parkrun and cheered me (and all the other runners) in Smile

As long as you give yourself plenty of time you should be all right with your tourism Smile

TrayBakesTheSizeOfYourHead you say Melanie? I am booking my flight right now Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 11/02/2016 18:05

Ah that makes much more sense!!!!

OP posts:
FiftyNineOhEight · 11/02/2016 22:55

I can't believe you'd think I'd iron instead of run given the choice Grin, even though I realised this evening that I think you have only ever seen me in lycra Grin

chutneypig · 12/02/2016 07:10

It did seem an odd choice fifty. I'm with you on the ironing. I'm not allowed near the iron Grin.

We're thinking of some tourism at the weekend but nothing so exotic as Portrush, just one of the local ones. Quite fancy trying one with fewer people as a change.

I have traybake envy too!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/02/2016 07:31

I don't really know what a traybake is!

OP posts:
MelanieCheeks · 12/02/2016 07:36

I will post you photos!

Fifteens are bound to be there - crushed digestive biscuits, mixed with chopped cherries and marshmallows, condensed milk, roll into a sausage, chill, and cut into rounds.

Am also envious of the pine-scented Sherwood run - that's going on my list of future tourism spots!

feetheart · 12/02/2016 14:27

They didn't have TraybakesTheSizeOfYourHead when we were at Portrush in the summer :( I feel very deprived, especially about the 15s which NO-ONE here has ever heard of.
Def put Sherwood Pines on the list, I've added Crosby to mine - more beach and Antony Gormley statues :)

We are having a Cake parkrun tomorrow (59, Halle) as I won a Contribution to Sport award at the Luton Sports Network Annual Awards last week :o
Sadly I wasn't there to collect it as we were in Nottingham but they used the photo of me as RD on Boxing Day in my elf onsie as the backdrop!

feetheart · 12/02/2016 14:28

59 - no idea why that didn't work #Cakeparkrun
