Congratulations Thursday!!!!!! He's gorgeous. Hope you're all well.

Hope it all went well feet

Something told me you weren't going to take it easy today MyBlackCat, too much temptation!

Well done Sugar, not far to go to get under thirty, how did it feel today?

Did you get soggy Melanie?

Have all the aches gone FiftyNine?

I had a great time marshalling today. I got the best spot, few hundred yards from the start, see everyone 2k in and right by the funnel. DH survived his timekeeping too.

MelanieCheeks · 19/03/2016 18:04

Awww Thursday he's a cutie, congratulations!

We had a super time - the 100th girl got a badge, sash, flowers, and much respect (she's one of our oldest gals). I ran round with her - we didn't put any pressure on to get a PB or anything, just enjoyed the run. It stayed dry, the sun even tried to burst through!

I found an old running vest in Jog Lisburn colours which Minnie wore - I have ordered letters to put on it to read "Dog Lisburn" cos I've nothing better to do in my spare time

Well done SugarDiabetes!

I tend to volunteer if I have something on the Sunday MyBlackCat but hopefully you're fit enough to not notice what you've done today Wink

I wasn't sure if I was seeing you today FiftyNineOhEight Confused

We had over 100 today, always a bit of come down after a birthday last week but i chatted to some people I don't normally which was nice. Think I may be coming down with the bug my boys have as it was very difficult!

Oh I'm so sorry cinnamon, I thought I was coming to see you for your 100th run, so I didn't realise you were expecting me today Sad. I will have a look at dates in April and May and PM you Flowers.

I almost didn't run at all, my shoulder was getting better and I took it easy at yesterday's yoga class but it was sore again this morning. I ended up starting at the back because I got there a little bit late, and then caught up with the 30 minute pacer and ran with him for a bit. The last k felt really hard, it's not a huge hill, but enough to feel like you need your arms. I came in just under 30 mins, so was happy with that.

congratulations Thursday what a gorgeous baby Flowers

MyBlack kudos to you lady, I thought it was bike/run/bike, not run/bike/run Shock

It has been rather a good sporty weekend in our house - as well as a rare sub-30 for me, both DSs had big matches and played really well in their sports.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/03/2016 21:48

I seem to have missed a page! Congratulations ThursdayLastWeek what a gorgeous squishy you have!! Was he early? It surely can't have been your due date already?

Don't be sorry FiftyNineOhEight!! I thought when i said it was going to be moving you said you'd still come 19th and then I was worried that if somehow missed you or you weren't ok! It's fine honestly. Perhaps when wimpole is back to their proper course we could meet there again? Sorry to hear your shoulder isn't quite right, well done on your sub 30 Smile

Loving Minnie's vest MelanieCheeks!

Went to Gunnersbury parkrun today. Lovely parkrun but still not feeling that well. Was getting better now coughing like a smoker..... Argh.

Lego that sounds like a fun challenge. Am thinking of doing the St Albans Stampede a group lap race over 12 hours. We can sleep in our own beds!!!

SocksRock · 19/03/2016 22:41

Taking my DD1 to the junior parkrun in Cheltenham tomorrow for the first time! She is mega excited, I'm just annoyed as I've had recurrent shin splints for over a year now and am wondering if I will ever run again. Anyway. Hopefully if I can do 2km with her it will be a start!

chutneypig · 20/03/2016 07:16

What a pain about your shoulder FiftyNine. Literally! Hope it doesn't trouble you for too much longer.

These bugs around at the moment are hideous Halle. Lingering for ages and the cough goes on and on. How long are the laps for the stampede?

I hope your DD likes the juniors Socks. Hope your shins are ok.

No juniors for us today, family 10k outing Grin. The children are very excited. We've got a new juniors starting near us soon, so they're also very excited about that. Ours is getting so busy, which is obviously fantastic, but a bit more space would be good.

I've also been 'encouraging' my family to join us at their local parkrun when we're down in the summer. They like a good challenge, so I thought I'd give them plenty of notice.

AliceScarlett · 21/03/2016 17:52

Just found out that park runs exist :) there is one just down the road from me. Looking forward to be able to run 5k so I can join. Currently 2.5k is making me feel sick and dizzy, because I'm V unfit.

FiftyNineOhEight · 21/03/2016 20:54

Alice if it is anything like my parkrun there will be a friendly tail runner to run/walk round with you at your own speed Smile

thewavesofthesea · 22/03/2016 08:36

Is the parkrun that I go to quite fast? Seems only one or two that do it over 40 mins, I am one of the last at 35 mins. It's not an issue, it spurs me on, I was just curious to know!!

feetheart · 22/03/2016 11:16

Thursday - CONGRATULATIONS :o Hope you are enjoying lots of newborn snuggles

That does sound quite quick thewavesofthesea, on Saturday we had over 15% of our runners come in over 35mins and usually the Tail Runner comes in at about 55mins.

AliceScarlett - see above :) We have a posse of people who walk every week and a lot more who walk/run. The motivation provided by other people will inspire you and the addictive nature of parkrun will have you coming back for more and more!

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/03/2016 11:49

Thanks all Smile. No Cinnamon, he arrived via elcs so was a little early.

That does sound super quick waves! Is it a particularly flat course? My local is v hilly.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/03/2016 13:30

Go along AliceScarlett you will be welcomed doing it run/ walk or walking.

Ours is similar thewavesofthesea, most finishers are less than 40mins, not particularly flat. We had walkers this week who finished in 1:01 but that's rare. We always have a tail runner and last people are always cheered home 😊

OP posts:
chutneypig · 22/03/2016 18:36

Of the two we do, one is fairly flat and has a lot of runners and there's usually a large number over 40 minutes, anything up to an hour. The other one is very hilly and there's usually none over 40 minutes but I am sure anyone taking longer would be cheered home.

MelanieCheeks · 22/03/2016 22:51

Mmmmm touristy planning stuff....

My dancer daughter is on tour. Venues that she is performing at on dates that suit me to travel include Derby, Bournemouth, and Salford. Anyone run any of the parkruns near these?

thewavesofthesea · 23/03/2016 05:17

There are a couple of hills; it starts and ends on a hill (it starts with a loop that goes back down past the start). Never done any other though so not sure how it compares!

Another tourist question; visiting family over the weekend and planning on doing either Wakefield Thornes or Nostell Priory one. Anyone ever done either - I know both areas are pretty hilly; are the runs hilly?

chutneypig · 23/03/2016 07:04

We went to Poole - very flat course and lots of water around. I like water. It's busy but plenty of space, I was pleasantly surprised. The actual Bournemouth course looked a bit dull. Moor Valley is outside Bournemouth and I think it on forest paths, that's on my to do list this year.

For where you'll be near Derby are any of the Notingham ones in striking distance?

FlightlessBird · 24/03/2016 08:54

Thursday congratulations! He's gorgeous! It seems like only a month or two ago you were parkrunning....

I'm running my first tourist parkrun this weekend. Is it a sign of my addiction that I am choosing holiday destinations based on the ease of access to parkruns?

I have it narrowed down to either Huddersfield or Glossop - has anyone run either course?

cinnamongreyhound · 24/03/2016 10:21

I'm so lazy, my parkrun is a 3 min run from my house and I love it but I so want to try others. Just comes to a saturday morning and I stay in bed until 8.30!

OP posts:
FiftyNineOhEight · 24/03/2016 14:18

Flightless Grin - not an addiction, just a key criterion for a holiday destination. We have to be somewhere several hours away for a Saturday night "do" soon, so I am weighing up whether to travel up on Friday night and do a new parkrun, or do parkrun at home and travel up afterwards Grin

I have done most of my local (within under an hour) parkruns, except for a newish one, and cinners' (which is probably just over an hour if the traffic is OK). My home one is 10 mins by bike, so I get a bit of a warm up first.

Sorry, I haven't done any of the ones people are asking about upthread. so many parkruns, so little time...

cinners you are so not lazy!

Runninggirl63 · 24/03/2016 19:55
