I had a very un-Parkrun like tussle over the token today. Lady who came on behind me tried to jump the queue for the token. I told her we should stay in order so as not to mess up the results but she tried to take it anyway. Fortunately the lady giving out the tokens had clocked it so switched them Around. I felt a bit daft tbh, it's not like it really matters!

chutneypig · 16/07/2016 18:58

Poor you cinnamon, hope you're picking up now. Look after yourself.

Muggy here too swampy and I'm with you Melanie on the so so run but good to get out. Something to look forward to for the week swampy - always good!

That's not what you expect Freshprincess, glad it got sorted. I had the reverse, the runner behind me insisted I sprint finish as she'd been following me and DD the whole way and thought we should go in ahead of her but another runner was about to overtake and her sense of justice was strong. I said thank you once I'd recovered my breath.

No run for ds today, I've diagnosed him with endoftermitis so kept him home!

Dh ran but didn't impress himself, roll on the end of term and work for me so he can train with the club

Blatherskite · 16/07/2016 21:09

I marshalled the inaugural Linford Wood parkrun this morning then had time to nip home for a toasted teacake before I went out to run Race HQ for a local relay event. Finally got home at 5pm!

I'm knackered and I haven't run anywhere!!

standingonlego · 16/07/2016 23:27

Posting from my bunk in the youth hostel...had a lovely run at forest of dean parkrun this morning. Gorgeous course, friendly locals (despite them winding me up about there being wild boars in the woods). An inspiring lady running her 50th....her first time was 1.08 on crutches at 25 stone...now power waking 45 mins !!!!

standingonlego · 16/07/2016 23:29

Fabulous news about both DH and linford blathers hope to visit soonSmile

My 5th parkrun today. Shaved over a minute off my time for a new pb of 31:45. Dead chuffed although I felt like I was going to be sick I was so exhausted!

The park had quite a few people Pokemon hunting as well as the usual dog walkers. A group of 5 ladies actually walked into the finishing funnel and had to be asked to move quickly by the run organiser, they were so busy looking through their phones that they failed to see 275 runners milling around!

Volunteering for the first time next week with DD: marshalling, as I hope it's not too stressful. DD quite keen to be a barcode scanner.

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/07/2016 17:11

Hello parkrunners

hope you are feeling better cinners.

I overslept yesterday and for the first time in living memory missed parkrun Shock. I'm off out to run a few laps of my parkrun park in penance Halo

GeoffreysGoat · 18/07/2016 10:39

Shock fifty

£35 on asics, but he was definitely faster running home across the park, and still cheaper than Clark's on their own let alone adding on cheap trainers!

feetheart · 18/07/2016 13:24

You must have needed that lie-in 59 :)

Fingers-crossed that DH gets the parkrun bug Blathers, or just 'gets' it.

DS and I ran along the Prom at Worthing parkrun's 6th event. It was a hot, sticky run and I struggled at times but we got close to 29mins (DS just under, me just over). We were adopted by a group touring from Havant parkrun who cheered us on, fed us cake, took photos, lazed around in the sunshine afterwards and were generally lovely.

Back home this week for my club's Beginners Group Graduation parkrun and a friend's pink birthday parkrun - I will be a very proud first-time coach reluctantly dressed in pink Hmm

cinnamongreyhound · 18/07/2016 22:03

Well done on the pb's and I love to hear of volunteering Smile
We had 100 dead on Saturday and all was incident free I believe so yay!!!

has anyone done Tooting?

cinnamongreyhound · 21/07/2016 12:45

No sorry, I've only run at 8 parkruns total Sad

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 21/07/2016 13:47

I've done 47 events but Tooting isn't one of them I'm afraid.

lastqueenofscotland · 21/07/2016 18:15

I swear someone on the old parkrun thread mentioned it! Thinking of braving it this weekend

chutneypig · 21/07/2016 18:27

I'm sure I've heard it mentiond on here. Is it supposed to be tough?

Blatherskite · 21/07/2016 18:36

I can ask on the tourist facebook group if you like?

lastqueenofscotland · 21/07/2016 21:04

Thank you that's really kind - I've just realised i recognise a name on the volunteer roster so I'm going to bother them Grin

chutneypig · 23/07/2016 06:50

Everyone enjoy their runs today! I'm jealous!! But there's always next week.

standingonlego · 23/07/2016 10:16

Oh my word...it was hard work today, so hot out there!

Sirzy · 23/07/2016 10:57

Just jumping in today coz I need to shout - I did under 30 mins 5k at last!!

Freshprincess · 23/07/2016 11:17

Well done Sirzy! Envy. I can't quite crack sub 30. My best is 30.21.
I need it to be a bit colder than this, I'm too slow in this weather

swampytiggaa · 23/07/2016 11:25

Morning! Just done parkrun number 10 :) really pleased with that! Was a really slow one - 38.43 - because I ran with my friend who is struggling a bit. She said she would have given up if she wasn't with me so I am actually really happy with my time.

At work next Saturday so can't run :( and volunteering the week after - timer I think! Volunteering at juniors tomorrow which will be fun :)

Hope everyone had a good run today!

GeoffreysGoat · 23/07/2016 11:26

Well done Sirzy

Ds1 managed 2 of the 4 laps so dh carried on around, leaving him with a willing mum watching. Except apparently his behaviour wasn't great (according to dh who can be a harsh critic) next week I shall get off my arse and walk with the buggy so if ds1 does mess about only I have to handle him. Urgh, I was hoping we could move towards dh taking both of them so I could swim!

Blatherskite · 23/07/2016 12:37

Rd-ing for me this morning. Shadowed by a lady who may be eventually setting up the first German parkrun. If she does, I need to go :D
