Well done Sirzy - that's a proper milestone :)

I ran with with my Beginner's Group today as it was their graduation - very proud first-time coach as 12 weeks ago most of them struggled to run for 1 minute at a time :)

lastqueenofscotland · 23/07/2016 13:01

Sirzy that's brilliant well done!!

londonmummy1966 · 23/07/2016 18:08

Did my first today - Brockwell Park - really friendly people wish I'd started sooner. Really hot so I just jogged round (2 hills per lap so not one to whizz around anyway).

Scotland I have friends who do Tooting and like it - it is flat - but it is a triple loop.

0ellenbrody0 · 23/07/2016 18:13

Volunteered today, as a Marshall. I thought I'd try and get into a pattern of 5 runs, 1 volunteer.
I really enjoyed it, DD (12) helped and we clapped and 'well donned' everyone, it was fun. It was very very hot and I must admit I was quite greatful to be standing under a big tree in the shade!

swampytiggaa · 24/07/2016 17:40

Marshalled again at juniors today with my 10 year old. My 12 year old came down to hunt Pokemon and asked me to register her to volunteer in future :) my 7 year old ran well x very proud of all of them. Just need my boychild to come too and we could fill a chunk of the rota each Sunday!

cinnamongreyhound · 25/07/2016 08:56

Long time no see Sirzy, well done!!!!

Sorry to hear about ds GeoffreysGoat, it was hot and we all have off days.

Well done londonmummy1966! Welcome to the parkrun family!

Lovely to hear people enjoying volunteering, it really is fun!

I ran at home with my neighbour but we left the dogs home. She struggled with the heat but did 2mins faster than last week Smile

Good to see you londonmummy and glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Congratulations Sirzy, great stuff.

It's great to see lots of volunteering going on. Exciting if parkrun hits Germnay Blathers, fingers crossed.

That's wonderful to think of feet, you must be so proud.

Hopefully DS will be in good form next week Geoffrey, it was so hot I think lots of us weren't feeling top notch.

pinocchiosnose · 28/07/2016 22:33

I have just registered for parkrun so I am completely unsure how it works. Will it be obvious where people are starting? I have inflammatory arthritis and have been doing limited exercise for years but thanks to new drugs I have my life back and I want to start running , or run/walking which it will definitely be.

Freshprincess · 28/07/2016 23:02

At ours we all gather around a central point in the park. The course is marked out with marshals all the way round. Everyone starts at the same time, so it will be pretty hard to miss it.

Don't forget your barcode and Good luck!

GeoffreysGoat · 29/07/2016 08:36

Pinocchio congratulations :o ours is a big mass of people and lots of Marshalls around the course and very very friendly if you need to ask anything!

Ds bloody well better run this week, baby and I will be tail running! I was going to just walk it then the email went out. As I'll probably be slowest on the field anyway it makes sense!

GeoffreysGoat · 29/07/2016 08:36

Now, sling or buggy...

londonmummy1966 · 29/07/2016 10:54

Pinnochio I did my first last week. The course details page on the website had a very clear marker to show where the run started in the park and when I got there (about 10 mins early) there were lots of runners gathered there plus a gaggle of volunteers in their yellow jackets. SO I don't think you'll have any problems finding your run.....

Good luck - I found everyone very friendly - as I'm quite slow I started out with the "reverse competitive" group with the tail runner - all arguing over who would be the slowest....

FiftyNineOhEight · 29/07/2016 19:48

Hello parkrunners. I am very excited to be on my holidays and will be on tour somewhere in north Norfolk tomorrow (exact location will depend how early we are up Smile)

GeoffreysGoat · 29/07/2016 21:57

Sounds fab fifty

I've convinced my friend to come with me. Well, whole family really - she's going to walk with me and her dh (who doesn't get to run much due to having a young family) is going to do like my dh and take their older one :o parkrun is amazing!

swampytiggaa · 29/07/2016 21:59

No parkrun for me tomorrow :( I have to work :(

However I met some friends this evening and we ran the course (they are volunteering tomorrow) which was lovely! I did 32.55 which I am pleased with - I walked quite a bit because I don't think I like evening running ;) plus my headphones wouldn't work and I don't like running in silence.

My 10 year old is volunteering on Sunday at juniors under someone else's supervision as I have to drop my 7 year old at a party. I'll back in time to sort the finish tokens tho!

Good luck everyone running and marshalling :) especially those going for the first time :)

chutneypig · 29/07/2016 22:06

On tour here too and at least one of our family will be joining us - have great runs/ volunteering everyone.

feetheart · 30/07/2016 08:23

GeoffreysGoat - buggy. As Tail Runner you are there in a safety role as well as being the last person. If you have to deal with an emergency you are probably better off without a baby attached :o

feetheart · 30/07/2016 08:27

No parkrun for us today either as we are all off to RideLondon Freecycle - when they close off 10 miles of streets in Central London and just let bikes on.
Did it last year and everyone loved it, just going to Trafalgar Square earlier this time as it was as crowded and slow with just bikes as it is with normal traffic when we got there in the afternoon last time Shock

Happy parkrunday, especially to the new ones :)

FiftyNineOhEight · 30/07/2016 10:37

Morning allSmile

Unlike last year there were no mishaps, cancellations or marooning. I had a very nice run at Holkham Hall. Slower than my previous time there, but hotter and busier today.

Enjoy your cycling feet I would love the chance to rise in central London.

Waves to all Grin and hope you had good runs

0ellenbrody0 · 30/07/2016 12:08

I've lost my running mojo a little. Struggle on my 5k runs during the week and any attempts to increase my distance sees me bailing out at 5k absolutely knackered.
I went this morning in an attempt to just enjoy the atmosphere (which is always fab) and do a gentle jog, soaking up the positive running vibes.
I did, I enjoyed it, I loved the atmosphere and I left my tech at home, so I had NO idea of times etc...but didn't feel like I pushed until finishing line was in sight.

Just got my email........30 seconds shaved off for new pb! Shock How on earth does that work????
Maybe I'm more of a sociable runner than I thought! Grin

FishTailPlait · 30/07/2016 12:18

Did my first Parkrun today. I've not long finished couch to 5K so was pleased with myself that I managed to finish! A really lovely lady kept me going on the last km where I was really struggling but I knew I could run 5km but definitely cracked off at too fast a pace.
Despite struggling I managed to finish in 33.47 which is my best 5km ever! Thank you lovely lady for being a great support!

chutneypig · 30/07/2016 12:22

That ride sounds great feet, I'm a nervous rider so closed roads are ideal!

Sounds lovely Fifty

Fantastic stuff Oellen. I always think I need my Garmin as I feel I'm going slower than I am but maybe I should give it a go.

Not as fast as I hoped for us today, DD was feeling the heat but came in under thirty so always happy with that. Really enjoyed it and loved the RD comment on under 11s: please stay with them even if you don't like them!

GeoffreysGoat · 30/07/2016 12:53

Oops feet I went for sling as he settles better! Although he needed a nappyabout halfway round so I finished my 3rd and handed him off to dh. I actually ran the last hundredyards or so!!!

QuestaVecchiaCasa · 30/07/2016 12:59

I cycled to my old parkrun today. I hadn't been for ages because a new one opened about a year ago which was closer. It was fun because without making any great effort I shaved about 2 minutes off my old course pb. Its nice to see how much fitter and faster I have got over the last year. As an extra bonus I was first in the 50-54 age category!

londonmummy1966 · 30/07/2016 13:24

Felt like really hard work this morning as everyone raced off at the start but managed to cut nearly 3 minutes off last weeks time as it wasn't so hot. Annoyingly that was 30.29 (perhaps I should have run all the way up the last hill....) but makes me think I could now do a sub 30 on the flat.
