Great interview with parkrunJim on today's talkback show. Starts at about 1 hr 06.

MelanieCheeks · 12/02/2016 19:31

Changing my plans- the high tide in portrush is going to be a problem, so I will do ecos Ballymena, on my way home.

chutneypig · 12/02/2016 19:32

I expect Moors Valley will also be good on the pine scented front. Aiming for there in the summer, it hopefully I'll get to Sherwood Pines before then.

Are fifteens the name of a cake I clearly need to acquaint myself with?

MyBlackCat · 12/02/2016 19:58

My plan tomorrow is to get dropped off at parkrun and then run home xc, think it will be around 11/12 miles in total unless I get lost which is very likely Shock

FiftyNineOhEight · 12/02/2016 20:45

congratulations feet I did vote for you several times and am glad you won the award Smile

I hope you don't get lost BlackCat

standingonlego · 12/02/2016 20:51

I am busy plotting my Sherwood Pines visit....might have to wait until after hockey season though :)

feetheart · 13/02/2016 00:19

Thank you 59 :)
I didn't actually win the award that was voted for, I won a different one entirely Confused

BlackCat - do you want us to send a search party if you haven't posted by lunchtime?

chutney - yes! A Norn Irn speciality that ruined the teeth of many a small child growing up :o

15 marshmallows (halved)
15 digestive biscuits (crushed)
15 glace cherries (halved)
approx 160 ml condensed milk
desiccated coconut

Mix first 4 ingredients together to make soft dough and roll into a sausage.
Roll sausage in coconut, wrap in cling film and refrigerate.
Cut into 15
Eat 15 :o

Ha! Yes pleas feet if I don't post by 1pm please come look for me Grin

I should be ok, I just don't trust public footpath signs, they have a habit of hiding or disappearing all together Shock or I don't see them

standingonlego · 13/02/2016 08:00

Fingers crossed for my colleague & son who are first timers at Bedford today. Really hope they enjoy it!!!!! Cardio intervention and health kick, they have just started c25k together :)

standingonlego · 13/02/2016 08:02

Hope everyone has a lovely run this morning, well done on your award feet and a big wave to the rest of you awesome people Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 13/02/2016 08:22

Good morning parkrunners. I am miserable - set off at a really good pace then pulled a muscle almost exactly half way round and had to walk back. Doh!

cheapandcheerful · 13/02/2016 11:36

Oh no really! How frustrating! Hope your leg isn't too sore.

This morning's run has confirmed that I DEFINITELY need to invest in some trail shoes! It was like running through a bog at times Confused

I'm amazed I didn't slip over, although I did have some close calls!

MyBlackCat · 13/02/2016 12:29

I survived a very leisurely parkrun and then another 9 miles home Grin did make a few wrong turns and got told off for being in a field I shouldn't have I blames the signs or lack of them

cinnamongreyhound · 13/02/2016 12:39

Well that was nearly as disastrous as blatherskite's visit!!! Followed directions to get to the park, and the bridge was closed so we could see but were wrong side of the river! We got back to the car with 4 mins to spare, dh drove me and I jumped out and ran through the park to start. Made briefing and then saw dh parked as I walked to start so ran to the car and grabbed little dog and just made it as the tail runner set off. She hated it because it was so wet and muddy but we managed 10th female in 27:27, definitely would have been quicker on my own!

Hope everyone enjoyed their runs, fifteens and tray bakes! We had McDonald's brekkie to try and cheer children up but dss is not happy even now Sad

Morning all!

Well done BlackCat for not getting lost! I know that feeling well.

Loving the traybake chat. My plan tomorrow is to make whoopie pies.

Today I was timekeeping, and frozen with it. At 36 weeks knocked up now I had to to three wees while I was there Blush. Can't wait to get back to it.

MelanieCheeks · 13/02/2016 16:43

Hi gang! Had a bit of a dash this morning too, as my Mum didn't want to wake me and let me sleep on till quarter to 9!!!! Even with the civilized 9.30 starts we have on this side of the water, I still wasn't going to make Ballymena, so I opted for Portrush, and waved goodbye to any PB hopes.

It's definitely the course to do barefoot, as more than a few runners splashed through the surf with naked tootsies.

And yes there WERE fifteens at the end, I managed to hold back the hungry hordes and take a picture before they were all scoffed!

parkrunners old and new come and chat all things parkrun.
chutneypig · 13/02/2016 17:51

Thanks for the recipe feet and congratulations on the award. Forgot to say with all the talk of cake Smile

Oh no really how are you feeling now?

Sounds like you absolutely need those trail shoes cheap. I keep toying with the idea but don't absolutely need them and I can't get a clear idea on support. My normal trainers have some support as one foot slightly over pronation. At least you didn't slip, it's a horrible sensation thinking you might.

You're very dedicated Thursday. I think toilet trips were the only exercise I got by that point!

Well done MyBlackCat!

How did your friends get on standing?

Today reminded me just how great parkrun is. We went to another local course and it was so friendly, as always, lots of support especially for the kids. It was very hilly aka undulating according to the course description but a wonderful course. Will definitely go back. It was a lot smaller than our home run, so made a lovely change, it's been a bit of a crush recently.

MelanieCheeks · 14/02/2016 08:12

There were some great actions shots taken at Portrush, and I even mentioned you lot!

chutneypig · 14/02/2016 08:28

What fantastic photos, I especially liked the last one, very atmospheric. Does look a bit nippy though!

No juniors for us today. The kids are very keen to do a charity 10k so we thought it might be a good idea just to see how they got on on a practice run. DD is quite taken with the jelly baby concept fiftynine!

ThomasRichard · 14/02/2016 10:14

Hello! I saw this pop up in active convos and thought I'd join you. Well done feetheart; Wardown Park is my local parkrun so I joined in the clapping yesterday :) I'm still working on getting to the 30-minute mark so not like the gazelles out there but I'm doing OCR events inbetween parkruns, which is helping to get my fitness up.

feetheart · 14/02/2016 12:53

Hello Thomas - parkrun, MN and real life coincides again! There are a few local parkrunners here who come and see us every so often and it was actually this thread over two years ago that fired up my initial interest in parkrun :)

I'm making 15s for our next parkrun cake event.

Melanie - that takes me back to the summer. Did the bridge fit over the stream yesterday?

really - how are you feeling today?

Well done BlackCat - we have a few people doing parkrun as part of their long runs at the moment though they don't usually have a cross country route home.

Oh dear cinnamon, hope DSs are happier now? Sounds a bit like DS's first cross country this year - I got hopelessly lost and we turned up just as his race was finishing. I had a tearful boy and was guilted into buying him a full price league sweatshirt and some magnet running number things. I think he has forgiven me.

Right, need to sort out yesterday's photos and get DS to do the run report - if you are going to be the RD you have to all the jobs and his partner in crime yesterday is on his way to Disneyland Paris.

steppemum · 14/02/2016 15:08

melanie - amazing photos.

I love the idea of doing parkrun barefoot along a beach. I am very jealous.

chutneypig · 14/02/2016 18:23

Hello Thomas. I'm at a similar time to you - hats off at the OCR, I wouldn't have the nerve. I'd fail at the first thing that involved any coordination at all.

Resolution run 10k is now all booked, a family outing. DD managed 70 minutes very comfortably today on our test run and DS did it in 55. My genes have clearly completely bypassed him Grin.

Has DS done the run report yet feet?
