Halle - me too :)
We are going to be a bit busy on Saturday because as well as Ben and his 401 Challenge one of our runners is having her head shaved and we are having a 'Bring and Buy' cake sale! That's all for MacMillan as another of our runners is going through chemo. Bit of a shame it clashes but it might mean more cake :o

swampytiggaa · 25/04/2016 14:35

Well I went to the freedom run. Our parkrun is 3.5 laps of the park. I managed 2.5 then had shocking stitch. So I stopped Blush although someone did offer to run the last lap with me.

But I enjoyed it which is the most important thing!

So's mine! What shall I do with my 50 shirt now?

cinnamongreyhound · 26/04/2016 21:30

I don't wear mine often because the adidas ones came up quite small and I have my vollie 25 too Smile

MelanieCheeks · 27/04/2016 23:34

Yay, got mine too! Can't wait to wear it this weekend. I'll be in enniskillen for a Scottish dancing weekend, so I'm thinking of wearing it with tartan leggings Smile

Hello all!

Looking very swish in black there cinnamon v jealous! What number are you actually on?

I'm taking DS1 to volunteer tomorrow, half way up the hill, keeping the cows away from the runners, I'm really looking forward to it.

Thursdog and I ran nearly 5k this morning, in an interval style. It took us 40 mins so I'm going to try and get back to parkrun next week yay!

chutneypig · 29/04/2016 11:30

Loving the T shirts - well done all.

Enjoy the volunteering Thursday and good to hear you'll be back next week. How's it underfoot your way at the moment?

No parkrun for me - I'll be on an overnight flight. Just have to wait for the texts to see how the family got on.

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/04/2016 11:38

Going somewhere exciting chutney?

I've no idea about conditions, I've only been on roads recently. I would predict slippy though if I had to guess

chutneypig · 29/04/2016 13:28

Coming back from the US. Been on a work trip. I've managed to get to the gym or out for a run pretty much every day (not much compensation for the food I've eaten) so hopefully not too much damage done. I've got a 10k in a couple of weeks and I'd really like a go at sub-60 .

Still the DC have been flying the parkrun flag while I've been away, did very well in the juniors last Sunday. DS is usually up there but DD was in the first ten so she was very pleased.

LisaMumsnet · 29/04/2016 13:43

I sadly don't often have time to get to parkrun as I enter a lot of longer events but know many people who do, and it's changed their lives. Thrilled to see that Parkrun: Much More Than Just a Run in the Park won the Best Book award at the recent Running Awards. www.amazon.co.uk/parkrun-much-more-than-just/dp/0956946070 In my opionion parkrun should get a knighthood! I have told soooo many people about parkrun as the fact that it's free removes all barriers to entry. When I told some Americans about it they were amazed - and wished it was happening in their town. We are so lucky to have it - and the incentive to have fun while exercising. I know an 81 year old man who is sooo proud of getting his 100th T-shirt. Just amazing.

swampytiggaa · 29/04/2016 18:23

Well I'm looking forward to parkrun tomorrow :) looking sunny I think! Fingers crossed anyway.

Hoping to knock a little time off but if I don't it doesn't matter :)

Good luck everyone!

feetheart · 30/04/2016 01:02

I need to go to bed as tomorrow is going to be a busy parkrunday - between 401 marathon man Ben, head-shaving and a cake sale!
I am hoping to run the last 9 miles with Ben after lunch, the longest distance I've run since late October but I'm rather excited :o

cinnamongreyhound · 30/04/2016 06:27

Have great fun feetheart!

I got hassle from dh last night about parkrun Sad. I only stay for tea and cake if I'm RD which is usually every 5-6weeks and am usually home by 10 each week. None of them are ever dressed by this point which is fine but I really don't so a lot for myself so it upsets me when 1.25 hrs a week becomes a problem. It comes up occasionally but it came up this week because we have other things to do today and he says we can't start until I get back. Ds3 has a high temp so I'm up alone with him now, perhaps I should wake them all to get on Shock

Sympathies Cinnamon, that's rotten, 75mins to yourself in a whole week is nothing :(
Lovely and sunny here this morning, hope it is for everyone else.
Happy parkrunday :-)

backinschool · 30/04/2016 10:51

Oh dear cinnamon, could he maybe just be having a grumpy evening. DP does a voluntary motorbike thing. I know he loves it and I mostly support it but after a long week sometimes I get fed up and grumpy when he's on call meaning I have to do all the kids clubs, shopping etc by myself. I moan at him but he knows I don't really mean it.

Did park run this morning and I think I might have just made it under 35 minutes which would be a pb for me. Really went for it at the end (felt sick at the finish) so fingers crossed. I know it's still slow but i'll be so chuffed if I've done it

swampytiggaa · 30/04/2016 11:20

Oh cinnamon that's such a shame :( it's no time at all in the greater scheme of things is it?

Well I did my 4th parkrun this morning. Finished in 31.23 which is 52 seconds faster than last week. Really pleased with that. Have knocked over 4 minutes off since my first one :)

Am running the next two weeks then tail running the week after.

Have to say my parkrun text/email is the best one of my week now :)

feetheart · 30/04/2016 12:08

I need a lie-down!
273 runners (smashing our birthday record of 239 from 2 weeks ago!), MASSES of cake plus the hairdresser didn't turn up so Ben Smith got to do the honours :o

MyBlackCat · 30/04/2016 12:21

First parkrun in four weeks and I tail runned today, was great chatting to different people, I ran most of the way with a lady doing her 160+ run, she ran the London marathon a few years ago two weeks after breaking her hip, still runs now even though she is told she shouldn't. We both finished in just under 38 mins, also pushed a buggy up the hill for a lady too Smile really enjoyed it.

ThursdayLastWeek · 30/04/2016 12:53

feet is that you?! Amazing!

ThursdayLastWeek · 30/04/2016 12:59

Well don't blackcat, I really like tail running but don't get to do it much as we have a regular tail runner here.

DS1 was an excellent marshal today, he really enjoyed cheering people on and holding his 'point' (an arrow sign). I'm really looking forward to trying to get up those hills next week.

Sorry DH was being a wally cinnamon - I hope he's over himself now. My DH very wisely recognises that I'm a better mother and wife if I get a little alone time, and running is how I get that.

lastqueenofscotland · 30/04/2016 13:41

6 mins off a pb - 30 mins! but i ran the London marathon 6 days ago!

Peter Pan in two weeks time, anyone been there?

Blatherskite · 30/04/2016 14:40

I actually went to parkrun this morning! First time in weeks!

I totally under stand where you're coming from with the grumpy DH though cinnamon, mine totally resents any time I spend running. It's so hard because the running really helps with my depression but then when I come home to an atmosphere because I've been out then it ruins the high somewhat. I guess I could not go but I like it and it's only a couple of hours on a Saturday morning so why should I miss it? It seems that he thinks that I should do all of my running week days during the day while the kids are at school but then I'd miss running with my friends which would take some of the enjoyment away. He runs on the nights where he works away and sometimes weekends too and I never say a word. Feeling a bit tearful about it this morning tbh

GeoffreysGoat · 30/04/2016 15:26

cinnamon Angry

41:20 for ds1 and dh today. Would've been quicker but apparently I desperately needed the present of two stones Hmm
