Waiting very impatiently for my 25 shirt
DS should qualify for his tomorrow and bet he gets it before me :o

MelanieCheeks · 23/04/2016 07:43

Ordered my 100 last night too, after a tip off from the parkrun Tribe group on Facebook. I've only had to wait since October last year. Shame the message about fresh stock hasn't been formally communicated by an email or something from Wiggle or parkrun.

FiftyNineOhEight · 23/04/2016 08:03

Happy parkrunday. It's nice and sunny here Smile

FiftyNineOhEight · 23/04/2016 08:22

But, having poked my head out of the front door, it is also very cold. Wrap up warm folks!

swampytiggaa · 23/04/2016 11:40

Am back. Not as muddy as I feared. It felt hard this week but just got my time - another minute and a bit off! 32.15 today from 33.30 last week :) feeling very pleased with myself and think my aim of under 30 is possible!

Was sunny but cold here in north Devon :)

MelanieCheeks · 23/04/2016 11:42

Phew, that was a bit of an adventure this morning! I'd arranged to meet some running friends at Citypark, Craigavon. I've been there before, and thought my sat nav would assist me. Sadly, my sat nav was useless, and I was driving round and round in circles as the time ticked by. At 9.29, in tears and having decided to go home, I spotted the start, with a load of runners still milling about! I skidded into the packed car park, practically handbrake turning into a double parked spot, hoping that the car I was blocking was another runner, and made the start with seconds to spare.

Great conditions, sunshine and no wind, and I had an enjoyable run scoring a PB for this course. And when I dashed back to my car before even scanning, to move it, there were no angry notes or upset drivers waiting for me.

feetheart · 23/04/2016 12:28

Melanie - I think they are trying to keep it quiet until they have everything sorted so it all runs smoothy when they do announce it - t-shirts only landed 3 days or so ago!

Over 230 runners again today in MUCH better weather Shock. DS was timekeeping and did a great job. My volunteer-attracting pitch is that If a 10 year old can do it so can you Grin

GeoffreysGoat · 23/04/2016 12:33

44:44 for 3yo ds1, no piggy back!

MelanieCheeks · 23/04/2016 13:08

I get that, Feetheart, but with social media these days, once the word is out, its a bit of a Panodra's box.

Oh, Paul S-H just liked one of my tweets! Blush

cheapandcheerful · 23/04/2016 13:35

Hi everyone!
I've been absent for a while (thanks chickenpox!) but back park running again thank goodness.
Last week was my first for a few weeks and I got my worst ever time of 39.58. And then today I managed 35.39.
I have no idea why my times fluctuate so much! There's no predicting what I'm going to get. Or maybe there is a pattern and I just haven't figured it out yet Confused

chutneypig · 23/04/2016 17:22

Sometimes I don't think there's rhyme or reason to my times cheap. I've had similar fluctuations then suddenly went on to knock minutes off my PB the weeks after.

Excellent times swampy and Geoffreys DS.

We went to the flatter of our nearby parkruns today. Knocked over a minute off, 28 and a half. Very pleased. DD even beat her PB set with her father, so I was thrilled. I did get a bit over excitable near the funnel as she was close but made it with a bit to spare.

Exciting the hear about all the T shirts!

HalleLouja · 23/04/2016 19:04

Feet are you coming to run with the 401 marathon guy in Harpo next Sunday? I am going to be there just saying. I might even come your way the week after on 7th May. Am doing Ellenbrook inaugural 21st May.

Today I did Grovelands parkrun. Super friendly but the toilets didn't open whilst we were there and the cafe doesn't open to 10 am ish. Anyway it was my old hood and much more fun than the XC. I helped my friend who had run lots of miles yesterday and needed some encouragement.

swampytiggaa · 23/04/2016 21:09

I am doing a 5k freedom run tomorrow - ie parkrun without the official trappings. It's on after junior parkrun. Might regret agreeing to it half way round...

backinschool · 23/04/2016 21:46

I've stayed off my knee for a week and managed a slow park run with a friend today. No pain or throbbing at all. Its really frustrating! It's only when I run 3 or more times a week that my knee hurts - no matter how slowly I build up or how easy I take it. I'm really hoping the physio has some answers on Tuesday.

On the bright side it was a lovely morning for a run and, since my knee has survived, DD1 and I are off to junior park run again tomorrow Smile.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/04/2016 22:01

They had officially said you could order from 27th in the latest update MelanieCheeks, maybe they're hoping before that people slowly get the message from each other to stop it being a massive influx!

Well done Swampytiggaa!

Wow GeoffreysGoat!

I ended up running at home, not a bad time. We had someone run their 100 so biscuits and rice crispy thingies at the finish, nice Smile

swampytiggaa - have fun tomorrow
chutneypig - congrats to you and DD.
MelanieCheeks - that sounds stressful but great that it all worked out.

Do you have to time it just right to get your hands on one of the t-shirts? Not that I need to worry about it for a while, I've only done 2 so far. Hope you all get the shirts you've been waiting for.

MelanieCheeks · 23/04/2016 23:03

Where was the official update? I can't see anything on Facebook page or the weekly newsletter, but it's perfectly possible I'm not looking in the right places!

Backinschool, there was a hiccup in production of the tshirts, so some people have been waiting a looooong time to be able to order theirs. In a fair world, those waiting longest would get theirs first, but I know there are limitations to what a computerised ordering system can do.

GeoffreysGoat · 23/04/2016 23:04

Thank you chutney and cinnamon any tips for gently encouraging a runner so young much appreciated - after posting on fb it seems most of the 3yo we know need a scooter or balance bike to get them to walk more than about 60 yards! They run at his pace (dh's pb is 23:40) and walk if he needs to slow a bit, are there physical implications for distance too young or is it a case of if he can, let him? He'd happily run that far just bouncing around the park with a ball if we let him...

cinnamongreyhound · 24/04/2016 20:37

It was 7th April MelanieCheeks www.parkrun.com/news/2016/04/07/milestone-t-shirts-the-home-straight/

I've gone for the be guided by them approach Geoffrey. I know they cant compete in a UK athletics approved race (might have got the name a bit wrong) 5k until they're 11 or 10k until 15. I wondered whether it wasn't so much the distance as whether the were trying to discourage intense training below those ages.

As long as he's enjoying it and calling the shots as to walk breaks sounds sensible to me. That's pretty much what we've done. Although I have told DS 10k is the most he can do for a while. He was demanding to know how old he had to be for a half marathon recently!

GeoffreysGoat · 25/04/2016 08:23

Thanks chutney he won't be competing! He can join the club in 3.5 years so until then we'll keep messing about. Once ds2 hits 1 we'll get a proper buggy for his m and dh can alternate, but it's far too bumpy for an 8mo iirc

feetheart · 25/04/2016 10:13

Halle - he's running with us the day before, starting at parkrun. I should be on cheering duty at parkrun then will doing some running with him later in the day.
Amazing coverage this weekend for an amazing man (and a mind-blowing challenge Shock)

HalleLouja · 25/04/2016 10:21

Feet I am ever so slightly excited about Sunday.
