That's loveky Joan! Well done you Smile

Sorry you have the same blatherskite. My dh powerlifter in our garage so he says he's always available but in reality he's not. When he trains he gets in from work, changes and goes out. When i run in the evening I get tea mostly ready, make sure the kids are ok and then still do bedtime etc when I get back. If I run early morning when everyone's asleep he moans I disturb him, if I run evenings it pretty stressful. I had thought we'd settled ok for Saturday mornings as he gets to lay around not doing much and the kids are happy. I always make him coffee in bed before I go too and am rarely back after 10 unless we have problems. I feel as ed I should be here more but I'm always on the end of a phone and have stayed if needed. I can't run in the day as I'm working so it's early morning or evening or not at all.

Wow feetheart!!!!

Well done swampytiggaa

Only 105 ThursdayLastWeek, glad to hear you're back out there Smile

Fabulous JoanFerguson!

I had my record for lateness today! I was putting out my signs and about 30s later the lead runner went past! I managed to get 77 out of 98 though and by my watch was 27:58, by parkrun official time was 32:40 Blush

Booooo to unsupportive others!

I revisited the beautiful course at Castlecoole, Enniskillen. There were 3 of us in new 100 shirts, so we had the obligatory photo shoot looking over our shoulders. I was there for a weekend's Scottish dancing, so I was wearing tartan leggings, which earned me the nickname The Flying Scot Grin

Smashed my previous time at this course, managed to be 6th lady and also recorded my fastest non-canine-assisted time, so I'm delighted about that.

Belfast marathon tomorrow, just a relay leg for me.

feetheart · 01/05/2016 19:26

Joan - well done you. You know the bit where we say how addictive parkrun is . . . we're not making it up :o

Thurday - no it's not me, it's one of our regulars who did it for MacMillan as one of our RDs is going through chemo. She's raised nearly £1000 in a couple of weeks :o

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/05/2016 20:31

Wow, what a good sport and friend Smile

HalleLouja · 02/05/2016 06:57

So was quite exciting running wise this weekend. Both Ds and Dd ran at a 2k where Steve Backshall arrived on a helicopter with Thom Evans who is lush.

Then yesterday I ran a half with the 401 man. He is nuts in a fab way. Was tempted to start the second half but decided to be sensible...

Feet apparently you told someone the Stevenage one is going ahead! Is that true?

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/05/2016 08:42

Anyone else entering the ballot?

FiftyNineOhEight · 02/05/2016 10:17

Boo to unsupportive H's/P's. Fortunately our DC are older and not around that much to have an impact on when I run. I haven't run much lately and it definitely makes a difference to how I feel about life, the universe and myself.

We had one of our busiest parkruns on Saturday - one of my friends reckons it's because before people used to go away for the BH weekend, so our numbers would be depleted, but now people go away for the BH weekend and do a tourist parkrun, which boosts the numbers Smile. I ran almost a minute faster than last week, but still several minutes off my PB. Maybe the new tee-shirt will get me there Smile

Spent the rest of the weekend outdoors in rain, hail and sunshine at DC's sporting events.

Well done all parkrunners, and a welcome to new parkrunners Grin

FiftyNineOhEight · 02/05/2016 10:19

Thursday I am tempted, but no, not this year. I am thinking of doing one next year, as I have a birthday with a zero on the end of it, but thinking of doing an autumn one so I can train through the summer.

MyBlackCat · 02/05/2016 10:21

I've entered thursday hoping for 5th time lucky Smile

chutneypig · 02/05/2016 17:57

That's quite a weekend Halle!!

Sorry to hear that cinnamon and Blathers, it's not so much to ask when it does so much good.

Good luck MyBlackCat.

How did today go Melanie?

Fantastic stuff feet

Very well done Joan and welcome Smile

Ours were busy here too FiftyNine, tourism is a very important part of weekend breaks Grin

Sorry if I've missed anyone, DS keeps talking, my brain is dribbling out of my ears.

Marathon went really well, ta. We found a great spot to cheer people on just after the start, and the changeover points all went smoothly. I was doing Leg 2. Leg 1 is about 6 miles, so I wasn't expecting my team mate there much before 50 mins - he arrived in 45! Off I dashed, setting my Garmin as I ran. And of course I was in among lots of the very fast runners. A few I recognized, from my own club and fellow parkrunners, and I did manage to spot my boss and give him a cheery shout and thumbs up. I was running without music, so I enjoyed all the banter from the crowd (Leg 2 goes through the city centre and then up the Falls Road).

Blatherskite · 03/05/2016 08:19

I managed a slow parkrun while catching up with a friend on Saturday and did a 5k event on Sunday where I managed to sneak back under 30 minutes without any of my recent injuries giving me pain which is a huge step. Onwards and upwards now I hope and back down to PB territory

MK Marathon for me yesterday but with a different type of 'running' as I was on the volunteer team rather than plodding along.

Got to meet 401 man who gave me a huge hug and called me a legend Shock He'd forgotten to enter - while telling everyone he'd entered and planning it as marathon 245! - and I got a panicked email from his partner while I was working in the office. It was well after the cut off for entering but we managed to sneak him in. He is so lovely. Also got to meet Steve Way. At one point a security guard tried to stop him going through some barriers and he used the excuse of "I'm with her!" which made me smile all day Grin

feetheart · 03/05/2016 09:50

blathers - he is lovely and you are both legends :)
If he is coming anywhere close to anyone else go and run with him, you really, really won't regret it.
Someone may have got their figures wrong when they told me the 'after lunch' run on Saturday was 9 miles - it was 12.5 but my body held up . . . just Shock Good conversation helped a lot - some local running friends, a couple of ladies from Bedford (one who ran on Sunday too Halle) and a couple of guys who had travelled from Dudley and Bromley respectively to run with Ben. It was great to show off the real Luton to a whole range of people :)

Well done Melanie - I meant to say keep an eye out for a couple of our parkrunners who were running with you yesterday.

Off to enter the ballot today although we were beguiled by stories of the Barcelona marathon on Saturday and may be suggesting it as a club trip :)

HalleLouja · 03/05/2016 13:43

Feet I met the Bedford lady I think she did two back to back marathons!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/05/2016 17:13

I don't know if this is the same guy one of my club mates ran with a while ago.

And NO I am never entering the ballot, you crazy lot who are!

HalleLouja · 04/05/2016 19:36

Oi blathers I think my club mates are hassling you for tshirts. Good luck sorting them out. Grin

HalleLouja · 04/05/2016 19:36

Ps they are from the Arrows.

MelanieCheeks · 05/05/2016 07:28

They weren't the Oompa-loompas, were they Feet? That was my most abiding memory of this year - a group of 20 or more fully dressed up Oompas, orange face paint and everything, doing their warm up stretches in front of City Hall (led by my old trainer Ricky Long). And they were running the whole marathon!

swampytiggaa · 05/05/2016 07:40

I have ouchy knees :( am going to avoid running for a couple of days and see if that helps. Feels bruised to the side of my knee.

Thinking I am going to have to bite the bullet and get a gait analysis and proper trainers rather than relying on my karimors. I sound quite flat footed on the treadmill.

Hoping to feel OK for parkrun on Saturday. Did some time on the cross trainer this morning to try to build some strength up. Planning a long walk today in the sunshine - just going to avoid running!

Duckdeamon · 05/05/2016 07:50

Hello everyone!

Hoping for some tips.

I'm wondering whether park run might be a nice thing for me to do with DD1.DH is a good runner: I'm really not a runner at all, can do a v slow 5k on the treadmill but prefer tondo fitness classes, walking and slow swimming, and have never even tried running outside! DD1 (8) takes after her dad, enjoys running and cycling and is apparently quite good at cross country (had a go at school).

Is Dd big enough for it do you think? Do the adults and juniors all run together? I have quite bad anxiety (one of the reasons I try hard to exercise) so wouldn't want to not be able to see her!

HalleLouja · 05/05/2016 09:10

Duck you would need to run with her at a Saturday parkrun as she is under 11. But it is totally a thing you could do together. I have done it with my 8 year old DS and he needed coaxing round but enjoyed it when it was over. Grin

feetheart · 05/05/2016 09:29

Duck - you could also look at Junior parkruns which are on Sundays at 9am, are 2k and the children can run on their own, or with an adult if they want to.
I started running with my DS when he was 8 and he LOVED it (as a few on here can confirm :o) He is now 10, close to his 50 t-shirt and qualified for his 25 volunteer t-shirt a few weeks ago. It is a huge part of our Saturday mornings and a lovely thing to share.

feetheart · 05/05/2016 09:54

Melanie - def not Oompa-loompas. Fair play to them for that though :)

Duckdeamon · 05/05/2016 10:07

Thanks v much, will look into it!
