I forgot to tell you all that my MW who was with me when DS2 was born is a parkrunner too! She regularly runs Lanhydrock, I recognised her as soon as I walked into the hospital and she recognised me too!

In the excitement we forgot to get a picture of us together which is a shame, I think I could have got away with sending that to the newsletter folk!

chutneypig · 26/03/2016 07:04

Now that's definitely something Thursday! Definitely would have been newsletter fodder.

But we've got our famous Melanie Grin

Hills are a warm up I could do without MyBlackCat, but tourism is always worth it.

Just me and DD out today, DS is still poorly with some nasty virus thing going round. Hoping we dodge the weather.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/03/2016 07:19

Staying with dps friends and their nearest is Boston so I'm heading there. I hardly slept (never sleep well if at all first time in a strange bed) so won't be going for a time just go and have a nice time

ThursdayLastWeek · 26/03/2016 07:24

Enjoy your running today everyone Smile gale force winds here, so maybe I can live with waiting another week or two Grin

FizzyPinkWine · 26/03/2016 07:28

Doing my first parkrun ever today!
Only my second run since DD was born 10 weeks ago.
It'll be a slow run/walk I think!

chutneypig · 26/03/2016 07:54

Enjoy Boston lastqueen

I can't imagine gale force winds add to the experience Thursday, specially not with those hills.

Enjoy your first parkrun FizzyPinkWine, I think getting out at all is a great achievement in ten weeks.

ThursdayLastWeek · 26/03/2016 08:59

Congrats to you Fizzy I hope you enjoy getting out Smile

chutneypig · 26/03/2016 11:22

Well that was windy. DD went off for a lovely sprint finish and got her PB. I was very touch and go and then did an unseemly dance of excitement in the kitchen when I found that I got one by a second Grin.

GeoffreysGoat · 26/03/2016 11:27

Hi, may I join on behalf of dh and ds1?

Dh has been park running since last summer as proper club running was eating too much of our weekend. He started taking ds1 a few weeks ago when he ran 47 minutes. He reckons he got under 40 minutes this morning!

Ds1 is 3

GeoffreysGoat · 26/03/2016 11:29

Chutney our nearest is Brockenhurst, which this time of year is round Wilverley Enclosure

lastqueenofscotland · 26/03/2016 11:57

Not a pb as the four hours sleep definitely told but I was 4th lady out of 50 odd! My normal time would have seen me nearer 2nd lady. Happy with that and lovely fudge too

chutneypig · 26/03/2016 12:17

Thats impressive GeoffreysGoat. Are you within striking distance of Poole? Bet he'd like the juniors there when he's four. We're planning on trying it out in he summer when we're down. I didn't realise they shifted the Brockenhurst route round, I know Wilverley well. Do you know why they move it?

Liking the sound of the fudge lastqueen, well done on that sort of performance on that little sleep!

Runninggirl63 · 26/03/2016 12:17

Well done Chutney on the pb and well done Fizzy - it took me 12 years after having my second son before I started running! Hope everyone had a good run.

What a difference a day makes - ran 10km yesterday, lovely sunny weather in tshirt and capri tights . Today wet and windy and back to a number of layers! Not a fast parkrun for me.

Tomorrow our club hosts as 5 mile race and I'm marshalling . Looks like the temperature's dropping but should be dry - so need to find even more layers to wear.

Anyone watching the World Half Marathon from Cardiff this afternoon?

cinnamongreyhound · 26/03/2016 12:46

Enjoy FizzyPinkWine! Congrats on your dd!

Wow GeoffreysGoat, are you planning to join them sometime?

How many at Boston lastqueenofscotland? Well done on 4th lady Smile

I decided to use my stresses, put in my headphones and go for it. Just managed 27m so still 51s off my pb but fastest since ds3. We had some serious wind today too!

lastqueenofscotland · 26/03/2016 12:59

140 odd at Boston I think cinnamon. Well done everyone who got out there today!

standingonlego · 26/03/2016 13:20

Super windy here in Northampton too.

Who was asking about Derby up thread? I ran as tourist last weekend at marketon park. Lovely park, friendly & organised volunteer team and a fab cafe (I can recommend the rocky road Blush)

Huge congrats thursday gorgeous photo Smile

Looking forward to run reports from first timers like fizzy

melaniecheeks you are now officially a celebrity Grin

GeoffreysGoat · 26/03/2016 13:20

Yes chutney this side of brock. Poole is a bit far for a club for him but he'll join New Forest once he's old enough. I think it's so they don't churn up the college fields? I'm a swimmer, will get back to that once 6mo ds2 is a bit older and can go in the buggy with them

39 minutes this morning!

standingonlego · 26/03/2016 13:21

Big waves to everyone else...this is still the nicest thread on mumsnet Easter Smile

MyBlackCat · 26/03/2016 16:49

Well done to all runners. Sheffield castle parkrun was HARD very undulating and long inclines that go on and on and on. That along with the 4 mile round trip run has resulted in my legs screaming at me Shock

MelanieCheeks · 26/03/2016 18:16

Had to do a blog

Welcome lovely new parkrunners, it's great to get out there and do it, well done!

Watched a bit of the Cardiff half - wow Mo, you are amazing!

There's a local 5 miler on Monday that I'm hoping to do - I've been assured there are lots of great buns afterwards.

gruber · 26/03/2016 19:19

My first run as a tourist! On holiday in Norfolk so did Blickling. Very friendly there. Not a pb as had hills (vaguely upwards parts) and I fell back to chat to my mum who I'd cajoled into running with me. Maybe another convert as she was pleased to run it in 38 mins despite not running recently!

SugarDiabetes · 26/03/2016 19:24

Parkrun #3 under my belt - 30:46. Desperately want to get under 30, but struggling with a clicky knee. Any tips?

MelanieCheeks · 26/03/2016 19:26

Are you taking any supplements, SugarDiabetes? I find any oils (cod liver, omega, krill etc) are great for improving joint issues.

FiftyNineOhEight · 26/03/2016 19:45

Well done parkrunners Grin loving hearing all about the tourism.

Sugar what do you mean by clicky? Does it hurt?

gruber I really liked Blickling the couple of times I have done it on hols

Bows before melanie, a famous parkrunner on our thread! melanie I was quite taken by you saying that you were a bit of an introvert, as that isn't how you come across with all your fancy dress, special buns and your funky nails Smile

Waves back to lego Smile

Welcome Fizzy and GeoffreysGoat, DH and DS. How wonderful that such a teeny weeny one is doing parkrun Star

Well done Cinners, glad you had a blast and super-speedy time.

High fives chutney well done matey, a PB is a PB is a PB Star

Runninggirl there is always next week Smile.

Hope you catch up on your sleep soon lastqueen

I volunteered today, then kept a friend company on some of her extra laps of the park - she was doing her last long training run for the London marathon and did another 17 miles after parkrun (disclaimer, I didn't run all of them with her!).

We had a food bank collection and had lots of donations - made me feel very proud to be part of our little parkrun community.

SugarDiabetes · 26/03/2016 21:29

MelanieCheeks no, I don't take supplements but probably I ought to. I'll look into that.

FiftyNineOhEight yes it hurts. Going upstairs is fine, coming downstairs is fine! It did the same last week but wore off after a day and a few ibruprofen.

I'm completely new to running this year and run a few times a week, following a 5K programme. Have done parkrun 3 times and can manage it without stopping never thought I'd be able to say that! But my left knee is feeling it Sad
