Happy 2016 everyone!

If your new year's resolutions include more exercise, come and join our little band of (almost) daily exercisers. The idea is loosely based on Juneathon, and you do some form of exercise most days each week (we take rest days too). The exercise can be whatever you like, swimming, running, DVD/ gym classes, yoga, stretching, etc, but we post here to keep motivated and encourage each other.

Our previous threads are Octoberathon and Juneathon

I'm planning to get out for a short run later today, fingers crossed it stops raining at some point!

It is quieter than usual here this evening. DS has gone to a sleepover at the Science Museum with school. Which means he isn't bickering with DD.

I didn't get out much as the weather was so shit. So I did another Saturday workout: NMTZ.

Hopefully back to 30DS & 6W6P tomorrow if my motivation holds up

The 10 burpees were all in a row, but in small chunks with rest in between. Not sure I could have coped with doing squats or lunges or anything else in between! But I think I found the buzzfeed HIIT workout you did, kanye, and it does look like a good one to time and use for a benchmark monthly or so.

Was stuck indoors due to torrential rain and wind yesterday so did strength training. There is glorious sunshine today, so I went for a surprisingly nice run. Amazing the difference a blue sky makes.

Happy Sunday, all.

SerendipityDooDah · 07/02/2016 20:08

Oops ... The 100 not the 10 burpees. Promise it didn't take me 20 some odd minutes to do 10 of them!

velmadinkly · 07/02/2016 20:09

I've been missing for the past week and sadly I have failed at doing any real exercise. I'm hoping to do another of this week because I'm away from home on a course for 3 days and I'm hoping to walk from the hotel to the training centre there and bacK. I can't wait to get back to normality.

OublietteBravo · 07/02/2016 20:19

My exercise was interspersed with baking this evening:
Make cake mix, put cake in oven - change into kit - 30DS L3D3 - take cake out of oven - 6W6P L1D12 - ice cake. Grin

I'm looking forward to trying some cake later...

OublietteBravo · 07/02/2016 20:26

Belated birthday cake for DS.

KanyesVest · 07/02/2016 22:04

Welcome back, Velma! Hope the course is interesting.

Serendipity, I think the one I did was called buck furpees.

Oubliette that cake looks lovely, enjoy it. I had a hankering for a chocolate cake today so made one this morning. It was lush. Thankfully we were at my mum's for the afternoon so I didn't couldn't eat all if it myself Grin

DD was a post-party pukefest yesterday evening so with dh away I had to abandon any exercise plans. I was really looking forward to a run when he got home, but the weather is so awful, I dug out the treadmill. I've never run on one before. I didn't particularly like it (even with the iPad for company) but its handy in a night like this. I did a fast 20mins, only about 3.5km but I'm wrecked after it!

Any of you have braved the elements over the past couple of days have my respect. It's bloody awful out there!

I stayed safely indoors for my workouts: 30DS L3D4 & 6W6P L2D12.

(34/264)

P.S. The cake is very nice - although I'm not sure it counts as a healthy post-workout snack especially when served with a large dollop of extra-thick double cream Grin

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 09/02/2016 13:07

Dsis watched my two DC in the theatre this morning whilst I nipped to the gym. Managed to tag an extra 400 metres each run onto my run/walk/run/walk cycle which meant I was only speed walking 400metres instead of 800metres. I'm improving. I am doing 30 minutes of yoga & Pilates mix concentrating on core work at home each day.

SerendipityDooDah · 09/02/2016 18:33

Mmmmm ... caaaaake. Looks fabulous, Oubliette.

Kanye, it was the buck furpees HIIT that I found. Love the name! I did it yesterday but with what they describe as "intermediate" burpees instead of the "advanced" ones that I did for my 100 burpee torture session. That was a good call, as I would surely have expired if I'd tried to do the advanced ones plus all the in between bits. As it was, I took 13:46 to get through it. I figure I'll try it once a week or so and move up to full burpees when I've gotten my time comfortably lower on the intermediate version.

No exercise today as I have a business dinner tonight. I am planning to be sensible with food and drink, but experience tells me that my intention tends to turn to "oh f*ck it, pour me a large glass and pass the bread basket" after about 15 minutes with (1) a lovely wine list and (2) a table full of clients. We shall see. I do want to get in a run tomorrow, though, so I really can't go overboard on the booze in particular.

OublietteBravo · 09/02/2016 21:15

I've been doing the cooking interspersed with exercise thing again tonight:

30DS L3D5
(make pancakes for DC)
6W6P L1D13

Fortunately that means DH is on washing up duty.

(35/265)

OublietteBravo · 10/02/2016 19:52

I've just done 30DS L3D6 & 6W6P L2D13. I'm very sweaty, so I'm off to jump in the shower.

(36/264)

KanyesVest · 10/02/2016 20:32

You're really powering through, oubliette, well done.

Serendipity, how was your dinner? Hope you got for your run today Wink

Another sick child put paid to proper exercise and pancakes yesterday, but I managed to get in a lot of walking during the day, about 8km. This evening was the first Bootcamp in coach's "new" gym, and it was kettle bells, abs and press ups. My arms are sore.

Dinner was fine, thanks. Had a thumping headache this morning even though I only had a pre-dinner cocktail and one glass of wine (I have an embarrassingly low tolerance for alcohol) but survived the day and even managed a pretty good run after work. Am exhausted now so soon to bed ...

Sorry to hear you had an unwell mini kanye. Hope he or she is on the mend now. Well done on the arm-y boot camp (see what I did there?)!

Oubliette, I continue to be awed by your Jillian dedication! And purple, your gym dedication is mighty impressive too.

'Night all.

KanyesVest · 11/02/2016 17:25

Ds was home from preschool faking sick today, so I did 25 mins on the treadmill while he was asleep. I'm going to a friend's for dinner, so I'll walk there later (45mins) and enjoy a well earned glass of wine.

30/270 (I forgot how numbers work yesterday Hmm )

OublietteBravo · 11/02/2016 18:22

DD had a hospital appointment this afternoon, so I took half a day as holiday. Traffic was crazy, so we walked to and from her appointment. Then I walked to and from DS's school. By the time I've walked to and from choir later this evening I reckon I'll have spent 90 mins walking.

I've also done NMTZ.

(37/263)

KanyesVest · 12/02/2016 13:49

Hope your DD is ok Oubliette and you had a nice walk to choir.

Bootcamp this morning, despite far too little sleep last night - DS was really unsettled all night and kept coming in to tell me he had snots in his nose.

Hope everyone has nice weekend plans Smile

OublietteBravo · 12/02/2016 19:29

DD is fine Kanyes - it was just a routine appointment with the orthodontist.

Today I've done 30DS L3D7 & 6W6P L1D14.

Tomorrow I'll be having a rest day. I'm not sure about Sunday yet. We're travelling north to visit family this weekend, I'm not sure what time we'll get back.

blodynmawr · 13/02/2016 10:06

Still KBFFing but haven't posted for a while due to hectic work schedule.
Have half term week off but we are away for a few days from tomorrow so will have to catch up later in the week. Will hopefully be getting some walks in whilst away though....
Fab cake Oubliette Smile.

OublietteBravo · 14/02/2016 18:55

Hello everyone - hope you've had a good weekend. I've been to Yorkshire and back (a round trip of about 360 miles). DD and DS are spending half term with grandma and grandad (so same trip next weekend).

I wasn't feeling especially motivated this evening. I managed to persuade myself to do NMTZ on the end.

(39/261)

KanyesVest · 14/02/2016 21:52

I'm with you on the lack of motivation, oubliette, but I managed to drag myself out for 5km this evening. The sleet started about 500m from home. I'm glad I'm home to wine, the fire and some lovely truffles Dh got me.

Good morning everyone.
Half term is over so back to Zumba & yoga today. I have the bug so dancing around cheered me up even if I did have to push myself to finish the class. Yoga was harder than ever today but that could be the bug. Still, I did it, Monday morning and I'm back on it. I have approximately 6 weeks before the next holiday when it all stops again. I'd like to loose a few more pounds before then.

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 15/02/2016 14:07

The bug = illness not as in 'I've got the gym bug'.

SerendipityDooDah · 15/02/2016 16:23

Checking in after a lazy end of last week. I did a short and sharp upper body strength workout Thursday night, nothing on Friday, a painful HIIT workout on Saturday and nothing on Sunday. My guilt plus the bright blue sunshine combined to get me out the door for a lovely lunchtime run today. 35/265

Purple, hope the bug leaves you soon.

Oubliette, we are off to Yorkshire for a week this summer -- can't wait! Though I am not looking forward to the drive, I must admit.

OublietteBravo · 15/02/2016 18:10

Serendipity - whereabouts in Yorkshire are you headed? (I'm from Skipton - so the edge of the Yorkshire Dales).

I decided to give Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism a go this evening. Lots of cardio, but hardly any strength moves (so the opposite of NMTZ). I kind of feel like I've cheated a bit - but I reckon I can legitimately count 40 mins of cardio circuits as 'exercise', so I'll be counting today anyway.
