Happy 2016 everyone!

If your new year's resolutions include more exercise, come and join our little band of (almost) daily exercisers. The idea is loosely based on Juneathon, and you do some form of exercise most days each week (we take rest days too). The exercise can be whatever you like, swimming, running, DVD/ gym classes, yoga, stretching, etc, but we post here to keep motivated and encourage each other.

Our previous threads are Octoberathon and Juneathon

I'm planning to get out for a short run later today, fingers crossed it stops raining at some point!

Oubliette, 40 minutes of cardio definitely counts!

As for Yorkshire, we'll be based in Harrogate and plan to venture both east and west from there. DH and I love to walk so are hoping to wander the Dales as much as a 6 year old will tolerate (or let him hang out in Harrogate with my DM, who is coming with us, while we do a walk or two). Would love any recommendations for not-to-be missed spots! (Apologies for the thread hijack to everyone else.)

velmadinkly · 16/02/2016 19:26

Hi all, I did do lots of walking last week and it's half term here this week so I'm walking too and from work because I use a holiday club for DD that is onsite and she likes to use her scooter. So, from this I'll have 4 days of doing 10,000+ steps per day. I need to get myself back into the routine of doing my davina dvd, for some reason I feel guilty for not doing the dvd Confused

KanyesVest · 16/02/2016 19:35

Hi all, unfortunately I'm going to have to duck our for a while. I had an appointment with a specialist physio yesterday to try to sort out my SPD and pelvic problems since I was pregnant with DS (4 years ago). Although things are vastly improved from when I was juggling a newborn and crutches, apparently I need to do a lot of rehab to try to minimise future problems. Hopefully 2-3 months of intensive clam shells and bridges will help, and I'll be back to join you all for proper exercise before the summer.

OublietteBravo · 16/02/2016 19:54

Oh dear Kanyes - that sounds painful. Fingers crossed the rehab works brilliantly and you'll be back with us later in the year.

Serendipity - may I recommend the waterfalls walk www.ingletonwaterfallstrail.co.uk/. I loved it as a child - you can see the Craven Fault in the rock strata (and the waterfalls are cool too).

Ingleton has a heated outdoor swimming pool too and it is fairly close to Stump Cross Caverns if you fancy visiting some caves.

Right, on to exercise - I did 30DS L3D8 & 6W6P L2D14.

P.S. I was very sore this morning - I definitely felt the effects of the cardio circuits!

KanyesVest · 17/02/2016 21:25

Thanks, oubliette, it's a bit crap and I'm really pissed off with my body, but I hope the rehab will work better now that I'm much stronger and fitter than I was four years ago. I will be back!!

This evening I did NMTZ.

I then showered and changed and went out for dinner with DH. He's 1 month in to a new job. Which means he's tired, stressed and not very good company. I might go out on my own tomorrow...

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 17/02/2016 21:54

Hope you get better soon Kanyes.

The flu thing (there's a whole other thread going on about that) is slowing me down. I've had whole days that I can't remember - the house is immaculately clean somehow and I'm so used to sweating / feeling hot that I didn't even notice I was sweating on the treadmill today.
That was followed by body balance. Which should really be renamed body wobble (but I'm getting better and will one day stop wobbling and hold a position perfectly still.

OublietteBravo · 18/02/2016 19:10

I managed a longer session today: 30DS L3D9 & 6W6P L1D15. Only one more session and I've finished Shred for the first time in 2016.

(43/257)

OublietteBravo · 20/02/2016 09:00

Ran out of time to post yesterday. I did NMTZ, the showered and headed out for dinner with friends.

(44/256)

OublietteBravo · 21/02/2016 21:14

Rest day yesterday - back on it today admittedly somewhat reluctantly. Nothing too strenuous: NMTZ.

(45/255)

OublietteBravo · 22/02/2016 20:16

Did everyone survive half term? It went incredibly quickly from my POV.

30DS L3D10 + 6W6P L2D15

I finished Shred, but I've not finished 6W6P yet. So I think I'll do another couple of sessions at each level of 30DS until I'm done with 6W6P, and then consider what to do next.

(46/254)

OublietteBravo · 23/02/2016 20:49

Feeling lazy today, so just a quick NMTZ session.

(47/253)

velmadinkly · 24/02/2016 13:21

I'm still thinking of your all.

I did lots of walking on the course and then last week was half term and I walked too and from work with DD who was in the holiday club on site.

I ended up with severe pain in my right hip over the weekend, so no exercise for me. I'm still doing a gentle cycle to and from work and a little stroll, but I daren't do anything else until I see the physio on Friday. I was nearly in tears with the pain on Sunday, but through talking diclofenac and ibuprofen and doing the gentle movement the pain is now nearly gone.

I nearly attempted Davina this morning, but I know I should see the physio first because walking should not cause my hip to be in so much pain. I do have issues with my right hip from my pregnancy and birth of DD and I did see the physio straight after her birth, but she is now 7!

I'll up date you all on Friday with the physio's diagnosis (if there is any). He might just say, "Velma you're knackered and just get used to it!" Grin

OublietteBravo · 24/02/2016 20:18

Hope the physio can help you velma - that sounds painful Sad. Definitely best to leave Davina until afterwards I would think!

My motivation seems to be MIA this week. I managed to force myself to exercise again (but only with some prompting from DH).

I did 30DS L1D11 + 6W6P L1D16.

(48/252)

OublietteBravo · 25/02/2016 22:37

I did a quick NMTZ between the school run and choir.

(49/251)

velmadinkly · 26/02/2016 14:37

I've seen the physio and he has diagnosed me with a hip joint injury, which is putting pressure on my sacral illiat (sp?)and causing my glutes and muscles around the hip to over compensate. He has advised no weight bearing exercise, so no walking, but I can cycle and swim. I have to see him another 4 or 5 times, with the next appointment being on Monday for some acupuncture to relieve the muscles.

After my hip is fixed he will then give me exercises to do to maintain the condition

I did nearly laugh though because while he was manipulating my hip he asked me how old I was and I told him and he said, "well there will be recognisable wear and tear after 40" meaning, get used to it love, your slowly getting knackeredGrin

Oh well, hopefully the non weight bearing exercise will only be for a few weeks and if not I'll just have to focus on my swimming and cycling.

OublietteBravo · 26/02/2016 19:37

Glad the physio thinks you are fairly readily fixable velma - I quite like swimming. Maybe I should try and go (the swimming pool is quite literally at the end of my road).

Today I did 30DS L1D12 & 6W6P L2D16. More importantly I reached a milestone in my 300 days of exercise target. Today is day 50 - so I'm 1/6th of the way there! Smile

(50/250)

OublietteBravo · 28/02/2016 20:00

I had a rest day yesterday - I spent the afternoon on a very cold towpath watching rowing.

Managed to persuade myself to do 30DS L1D13 & 6W6P L1D17 this evening - but it was a struggle. I certainly didn't want to exercise.

(51/349)

OublietteBravo · 29/02/2016 20:42

I'm struggling motivation-wise, although I did manage to make myself do NMTZ.

(52/248)

OublietteBravo · 01/03/2016 20:48

NMTZ again today.

(53/247)

OublietteBravo · 02/03/2016 20:05

I seem to be the lone person posting on this thread. Blush Where did everyone go?

30DS L1D14 (back to L2 next time) & 6W6P L2D17.

(54/246)

velmadinkly · 03/03/2016 19:06

Oubliette, I'm hoping ill be back next week. I went back to the physio on Monday and he has changed his diagnosis ever so slightly. It is now shown to be more muscle related rather than bone related. My periformus muscles (from the sacral illiat across the buttock to the hip) had got far too tight due to instability in my joint, therefore pulling my leg into the hip joint.

Anyway, I had some acupuncture on Monday and it has performed a miracle. I am now pain free, so fingers crossed, when I go back next Monday he will be able to tell me I can start exercising again

OublietteBravo · 03/03/2016 21:23

Hooray! I haven't scared everyone off.

I didn't have much time this evening - I managed NMTZ in between work and choir.

(55/245)

blodynmawr · 04/03/2016 14:48

Still here too Oubliette - thanks for keeping the thread going Flowers. I have been rubbish at posting over the past few weeks due to early starts at work and DH being ill with shingles. He is much better now though Smile.
Still KBFFing 3-4 times a week but now using 3kg weights throughout.
Hope Velma and Kanyes get better soon.

OublietteBravo · 04/03/2016 18:30

I'm having my rest day a day earlier than usual. I'm just not in the mood for exercise - I want to sit by the fire and eat cheese and drink wine Grin.

It has been a very busy week in the Bravo household...
