Happy 2016 everyone!

If your new year's resolutions include more exercise, come and join our little band of (almost) daily exercisers. The idea is loosely based on Juneathon, and you do some form of exercise most days each week (we take rest days too). The exercise can be whatever you like, swimming, running, DVD/ gym classes, yoga, stretching, etc, but we post here to keep motivated and encourage each other.

Our previous threads are Octoberathon and Juneathon

I'm planning to get out for a short run later today, fingers crossed it stops raining at some point!

Hope everyone is feeling better today.

Short but painful HIIT yesterday. Thank God those workouts don't last long. Today is probably a rest day due to travel, though I might fit in a walk.

KanyesVest · 28/01/2016 17:58

Thanks for all the well wishes. I was feeling much better this morning so I did a fast walk to the post office, 20mins each way. Hoping it was just the change in air pressure which can really screw with my sinuses.

My plans for the evening were disrupted by a road closure - I had to pick DD up on foot. So not enough time to exercise/shower before choir. I did manage a brisk 10 min walk to her school (and a slightly slower 15 min walk home). I'll see if I feel up to Jillian after choir...

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 28/01/2016 20:27

If I don't make it on tomorrow...I'm doing the sweaty gym thing followed by body balance.

I personally like the running machine third from the end near the punch bag and weights Grin.

OublietteBravo · 29/01/2016 19:29

Yesterday ended up being a rest day. I was just too tired to exercise when I got home.

I'm back on track this evening: 30DS L2D6 & 6W6P L1D10

(25/275 - so on target at the moment, as I need to average 25 days per month to get to 300 days for the year)

SerendipityDooDah · 29/01/2016 21:45

Glad you're on the mend, kanye.

Full body strength routine today. Amused the cat no end trying to do press-ups with my feet on the exercise ball.

22/278

OublietteBravo · 30/01/2016 19:07

I did an extra catch up session today because (a) I had a rest day on Thursday; and (b) I've eaten a load of Scottish tablet, so I need to burn some extra calories!

Just done NMTZ - which I think is my favourite Jillian workout at the moment.

Well done everybody. I'm glad you are feeling better kanye.

I didn't do any davina this week. It was only Thursday afternoon where I thought to myself that I felt much better. I have been achieving my step target though, which I'm pleases about. When I got the garmin at Christmas my target was around the 5000 step mark, it's now at tye 8500 mark. Saying that though, I need a good walk today, because at present I've only done 778 steps.

DH has a new job as an internal transfer which means he won't be working shifts anymore, so once we are settled int8 the new routine I might look for some classes, or at least I have the option of being able to go out on an evening once DD is in bed. We won't know when he will move, but it's something to look forward to.

SerendipityDooDah · 31/01/2016 16:28

Happy end of Jan, everyone! Well done to all for being so consistent this month.

I finished off the month with a playground cardio circuit yesterday. Not the greatest workout as there was only one of those clunky outdoor elliptical machines and some sort of contraption I couldn't even identify but that my son calls the horse. Managed to get the heart rate up for 20 minutes or so, which was all I was after. Today was a fast, hilly walk with DH.

Just looked back and saw that I have 2 days marked as 17/281 Blush. Correcting that and counting yesterday and today puts me at 25/275.

OublietteBravo · 31/01/2016 19:43

Wow - January went quickly! I finished off the month with NMTZ. I couldn't face my planned 30DS/6W6P combo after 5 hours wandering around MK.

(27/373)

OublietteBravo · 01/02/2016 19:57

I really had to make myself exercise today: 30DS L2D10 & 6W6P L2D10.

I finally finished off level 2 of 30DS - on to level 3 next. Not quite sure how the next few days will work - it is DS's birthday tomorrow.

(28/272)

SerendipityDooDah · 01/02/2016 20:04

So impressed with your Jillian Michaels perseverance, Oubliette! Happy birthday to your DS tomorrow. Hope you have good cake!

Stuck late at work tonight so did HIIT in the office. Mercifully I'm tucked away down a corridor so there's not really passing traffic. Used a couple of packs of copier paper as weights, with moderate success. Better than nothing, anyway.

26/274.

KanyesVest · 01/02/2016 20:13

Happy February everyone, great work done in January!

I had a mixed weekend...I did a very fast for me 5km on friday and ended up in bed with a horrible sore throat for two days. I'm pretty sure the two are actually unconnected, but my body didn't believe me! Anyway, today was another walk day.

Oubliette, happy birthday to your DS. Hope you all have a lovely day.

Serendipity, I can just imagine you in the office! I hope your webcam wasn't on Grin Your noticing your double day made me check my log and I missed out a day too...woo hoo!

Hello everyone. Haven't posted for almost a week but am keeping up with the 2 x 20 min KBFF 4-5 days a week. Will tackle NMTZ once I've done a few more of the abs sections of KBFF (workout 3). Thanks for reminding me re NMTZ Oubliette.
Glad everyone on the mend. My overall mood is generally better once January is over as the evenings are getting lighter etc, and another bonus of Feb is that payday comes around quickly!

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 02/02/2016 14:14

Good afternoon and well done everyone.
DH (gym addict & ex MMA fighter) mixed up my workouts on Sunday to help with an old shoulder injury. It left me a little stiff and achy so missed Monday. Went to the gym today and ran A LOT interspaced with some fast walking.

OublietteBravo · 02/02/2016 20:45

DS had football this evening, so we just did cake and presents (apparently big boxes of Lego Technic make 10 year olds quite happy). We'll take him out for tea tomorrow.

All of which meant I actually had time to exercise: 30DS L3D1 & 6W6P L1D11. I'd forgotten about the jump squat/rockstar jump cardio circuit in level 3 of Shred (or possibly just blocked out the painful memories). Ouch!

(29/271)

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 03/02/2016 13:12

Popping back to say I've achieved 40 mins on the treadmill and a yoga class today. Rest day tomorrow (spa day) then the last gym& yoga session in Friday before half term. No childcare so no classes/gym plans.

KanyesVest · 03/02/2016 13:51

Your dh sounds like a useful sort, purple Smile. Enjoy your spa day.

blodynmawr I know what you mean about the brighter days, it's amazing the difference in just the few weeks since Christmas.

Hope you have a nice family dinner, oubliette, dh would be jealous of your ds's Lego kits.

I'm feeling quite proud of myself. Boot camp was cancelled this morning so I went for a run instead. It was a 5k route I haven't done in a while, nearly 1k of it is a pretty steep hill that I've been avoiding, and I managed it in a PB! I took almost 4mins off my usual time!

OP posts:
OublietteBravo · 04/02/2016 19:44

I'm quite jealous of DS's Lego Kanyes - maybe he'll let me have a go!

I tried to fit in exercising between picking DD up from hockey and going to choir. Despite doing a short workout (NMTZ), I still didn't have time to make it to choir (well, I could've made it if I hadn't bothered having a shower). I need to find an extra 10 minutes from somewhere...

(30/270 - 10% of the way to 300 Grin)

KanyesVest · 04/02/2016 21:26

10% is great, oubliette! I love milestones! Pity you had to miss choir though -- there are many times in the day I'd love 10 more minutes...

I did a new hiit circuit I found on buzzfeed, which included 100 burpees. It wasn't much fun. [sore legs]

SerendipityDooDah · 05/02/2016 14:39

Well, I was already feeling guilty this morning that I hadn't exercised Wednesday or yesterday and only managed to walk Tuesday and this morning. Then I logged on here and read of everyone's fabulous work, with 5k PBs and 10% milestones and crazy HIIT routines and thought, right, time to step it up a bit. So I figured I'd try 100 burpees like kanye. Sweet mother of Abraham Lincoln, woman! Childbirth was only marginally more unpleasant than that! I was agonizingly slow -- up to 70 I managed sets of 10 with long rests in between, then I had to drop down to sets of 5. I think it took me 20+ minutes altogether Blush.

Anyway, well done to all you fit and committed people! If anyone needs me I will be stiffly perched at my computer, groaning softly, until the work day ends.

28/272 (counting Tuesday's walk and today's walk + torture session)

OublietteBravo · 05/02/2016 19:41

Happy Friday everyone - it's finally the weekend (it's been a really long week for me).

I seem to have rediscovered my motivation Smile - I've just done 30DS L3D2 & 6W6P L2D11.

(31/269)

KanyesVest · 05/02/2016 19:50

Well done oubliette. Boot camp was cancelled again this morning (the peril of the coach being a one man band) so I did a lot of fast walking and some core/abs/pelvic floor stuff.

Serendipity, did you do the 100 burpees in a row?!? That's savage! I did them in blocks of 10 with squats, lunges, etc to break them up. Did you time yourself? I did, hoping to do it at least monthly to see if I improve.

Dh is home tonight for a brief interlude, after being away most of the week, and before he heads off again in the morning, so I'm looking forward to a very nice glass of wine in front of the fire. Happy weekend, everyone.

OublietteBravo · 05/02/2016 20:14

100 burpees sounds like torture. I'm not convinced I could manage that.

I'm looking forward to Wine this evening - or maybe gin. Cheers!

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 06/02/2016 09:23

Well done everyone.
Missed thurs & fri so made myself get up in the dark, leave a nice warm house & bed and go to the gym in the rain before 7am. Not a big workout as DH had somewhere to be at 8:30am and Ds had athletics at 8:45am but a little is better than nothing. Trying to teach 4yr old dd yoga positions in the changing rooms at the club. We were having a giggle until she decided she would rather dance.
