None if our doorways is suitable for a bar, I mean

Boobz · 04/06/2016 16:59

Worked out Weds but had to take Thurs and Fri off as was travelling.

So did Max Interval Circuits today, to try and gain back some ground. Will do May Plyo and a run tomorrow.

Purpleraindeer · 04/06/2016 20:33

We're work out twins boobz. Did max interval circuit too. Got thru all the floor switch kicks without slowing down or stopping. Yay. Still hate those stupid sideways suicides and am pretty sure I'm not really doing them right

Max plyo tomorrow too.

Katie - there are some pull up bars which push fit in a door rather than hanging off the frame. Could you use one of those?

Boobz · 04/06/2016 22:11

Oh you did better than me - I slowed right down with the floor switch kicks.

I will do Plyo too tomorrow! And a run I reckon, if I can squeeze it in.

Appear to have eaten crisps AND biscuits tonight. Oops.

Boobz · 05/06/2016 10:23

Max Interval Plyo done. No run but hope to do either Ab Rippex X or Goliaz Mab later, post beach.

Are you doing the Cardio Abs work outs too Purple?

caitlinohara · 05/06/2016 11:05

Katie I am halfway through P90X now and it is working for me. I'd do it again after my holiday but the time commitment is huge (3 x 1hr 15 mins, 2 x 1hr and 1 x 1 hr 30 mins a week - not including the hour long stretch workout you are meant to do on your day off!!) and I don't think it would be fair on dh to do it again straightaway! I am still a long way off doing a pull up but I live in hope.

Roastie I think mixing up your cardio is a good idea. You get plenty of strength training in P90X so for the cardio days your only goal is to get your heart rate up and burn calories, so I don't think it really matters how you do it. I seem to remember the T25 cardio/speed workouts are just that - no push ups or resistance type moves, just pure cardio, and you would cut your workout time in half, so you could try one of those? I actually do rate P90X Plyo but not sure my knees do. I used to like JM's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism because it's a good mix of plyometrics, kickboxing and old fashioned callisthenics, but again, it's just shy of an hour and it could certainly be done in less without all the talking!

Chest, Shoulders & Triceps for me later which is my current favourite so am actually actively looking forward to it, especially because I had a rest day yesterday. Need to seriously up my protein intake today to cope though. Last time I checked, croissants do not count towards my 30g protein breakfast target, so I will likely have to eat another half a cow for lunch to catch up Grin

onlywhenyouleave · 05/06/2016 12:27

roastie did you do a combat session yesterday? I found an absolute classic combat workout on the secret site yesterday - it is BC42. Amazing tunes and moves so am definitely doing that next weekend (found it after I had already done a combat workout yesterday!)

Me and 7 year old DS did T25 stretch this morning which I love! Don't think DS was that impressed as he kept complaining his legs were hurting Wink Am going for a walk this afternoon with some friends in the beautiful sunshine. Haven't seen them in ages so I want a proper catch up with them so opting for a social walk instead of running Grin

Just when I was feeling good about my weight loss, bought a couple of pairs of trousers from Matalan yesterday - they were size 16 and I couldn't do them up Sad so frustrating when my m&s size 16 pants are practically falling down. How are you supposed to know what size you are??

Hope you are all having a fab weekend in the sunshine 🌞🌞

Purpleraindeer · 05/06/2016 14:41

dont be too fed up only. I have a 3 size range depending on what shop I go to. It's bloody ridiculous.

Made a yummy lunch from the 800cal per day low blood sugar diet today (was in the paper this week). Am feeling enormously full now so I think I might have made too big a portion size Blush. Finished it off with banana bread that dd and I made. I now really need to do a work out but feel toooo full to do it.... lets hope I can snap out of the food coma later!

KatieKaboom · 05/06/2016 15:43

Caitlin, thanks for the info! A whole hour EVERY day is a lot... hmm (but I'd substitute the yoga and I've heard that Kenpo isn't that good, either). Maybe I'll leave it till winter when jogging/running is impossible.

Btw I still do Jillian's BFBM from time to time, albeit a slightly ramped-up version (and I sub the useless punching moves in circuits 5 and 1 for high intensity Insanity type moves), and still find it fun and effective.

Anyway. I just wanted to say a big thank you to Roastie for recommending the Les Mills Pump workouts. I finally did the one called Pump Extreme today and it was hugely fun. I was surprised how tiring the "singles" get, esp. the weighted squats and lunges. Hugely fun and I feel like a goddess now. Grin I did love seeing the Kiwi-style koru designs on the set and hearing "kia kaha" slightly mispronounced by the Australian bloke at the end. Awww. So pasifika.

Purple, the recipe sounds great. Can anyone seriously be advocating 800 calories a day though? Sounds like a one-way ticket to an eating disorder. Shock Thanks for the info re: pullup bars; I'll have a look into it.

Only, the sizing discrepancies between shops are too hideously demoralising for words. I feel your pain! But those trousers will fit you in no time, I'm sure. :)

waves to everyone else

caitlinohara · 05/06/2016 15:52

Katie It's when you've done a whole hour's workout and then Ab Ripper X pops up on the DVD and you realise you have to do that as well (it's only 15 mins but hard) that it becomes soul destroying! I need something shorter to do in the autumn and then something REALLY short to do in the winter when it's dark in the mornings and I can't face getting up. I think 22HC in the winter, but still dithering over Hammer & Chisel for the autumn. I know you said you really liked it. I've a while to go yet anyway, I just like to have something to look forward to!

yumyumpoppycat · 05/06/2016 18:04

Hi everyone sorry I have been awol, have to admit I havent been working out lately. Have been doing a lot around the house (painting, decluttering, new bits of furniture, going to dump etc) but also working more than usual too. Just excuses though but quite nice to have a break and keen to get back to it now.

So Gamma T25 is £29 on amazon, but before buying I checked and it is on the site purple linked to so have just done burpeetastic speed 3.0! Not as bad as I expected on the burpee front actually but maybe because I didnt get all the reps in as first attempt so might get harder, also some of 22 hc was pretty burpee heavy.

I actually did the 800 cal thing, this is partly why my exercise has dwindled, but was closer to 1000 cals pretty often, it really seems to have worked for me in terms of breaking some habits and losing weight, I have gained only a couple of lbs after a relaxed week or two for dps birthday and family visiting etc yummy wine, sangria, pizza etc. Ideally you would want to be spot on with nutrition to get maximum nutrients on low cals, veggies, pulses, lean meat, nuts and seeds, natural yog etc I was NOT spot on at all but still worked The main thing I have learned is that I do best when I have the majority of cals earlier in the day, so not skipping breakfast which is what I took up on my failed attempt at 5:2.

Well done to everyone who has been exercising with injuries, illness, lots going on at work or home etc Star

RoastieToastieReastie · 05/06/2016 19:02

Only that combat workout sounds great. I remembered why I don't like using the secret site and why les mills online might not work though, alas my iPad is so titchy I struggle to see properly what I need to do :( I wonder if there's a cable that I can connect the iPad into the to to stream the screen onto the tv Hmm . I feel your pain with the clothes trying on, but if it helps I'm a size 12 but find even within the same shop different clothes can be too tight. Plus, I think m and s sizes come up quite big (I hope that doesn't sound a bit soul destroying for you, I don't mean it to). I once bought an m and s dress just because it was size 10 and it actually fit me as I was so excited. I think it's actually just vanity sized.

Purple hope you are out of the food coma. Banana bread. Mmmmmmmmmm. I keep meaning to try a chocolate brownie recipe for DD that uses sweet potatoes in it in the hope of getting her to eat something vaguely nutritious (she is terrible).

Katie glad you liked pump extreme, that's my favourite pump workout. I find it impossible to do as a one off workout as its so hard when my body isn't used to the reps but when I did it three times a week I was progressing to lift 1/3 of my body weight (50lbs) in squats and felt so strong until the blasted injury .

Caitlin the workouts are so long aren't they! I did shoulders and arms this morning and rocked it but then I hate the abs afterwards (probably because my core is non existent) and always have to force myself to do it. I'm wondering about maybe body beast once my injury is better and mix it with some cardio.

Hey yumy. I'm so tempted to get t25 gamma as I've never done that before, I just did alpha and beta, but it was t25 that did my knee in with all the twisty jumps on the knees, can anyone tell me if gamma is like this too?

yumyumpoppycat · 05/06/2016 20:24

Speed 3.0 was a bit twisty tbh, if you are ok with burpees though you could modify the twisty bits? I am with you on preferring the dvds, the sound on my laptop was rubbish and the picture much smaller, also I like getting the box of dvds, feels more exciting (am a saddo!)

RoastieToastieReastie · 05/06/2016 20:54

I'm ok with burpees but I hate them .

onlywhenyouleave · 05/06/2016 21:03

roastie you can usually use a HDMI cable to attach laptops to your TV. I used to do that but we now have a smart TV so it has the internet on it so the secret site works perfectly.

Speed 3.0 is burpee-heavy - only did it once so can't comment on how twisty it is. The other gamma workouts are fab and more strength-based rather than cardio so you should be OK with those. Pyramid is the best T25 workout IMO!!

I agree with you all on the longer workouts - I just cannot fit them in during the week so it does limit what i can do!

Hi yum funny how we all differ as I am managing reasonably comfortably with not eating breakfast but the thought of not eating tea fills me with horror Grin

Was due to do a pump class tomorrow after a metafit class but I have cancelled it. The gym has an entire wall made of windows and the sun shines directly in all morning - it is hot enough on winter mornings so I have no desire to find out how hot it gets when the outside temperature is 20° plus Grin that is a really pathetic excuse for cancelling a class isn't it?

RoastieToastieReastie · 05/06/2016 21:07

Only do they have air con?

Alas hdmi won't work as I have an iPad not a laptop and doesn't have an hdmi port thingymajigy.

Boobz · 05/06/2016 21:33

Anyone done the Mosely 8 week blood sugar diet?

Purpleraindeer · 05/06/2016 21:46

Boobz - yummy did the 800cal diet. There's a whole thread on it in the diet section. it seems to be very effective from what I've read (and def sounds like it was for you yummy)

Managed max plyo. Am not going to lie - I wasn't at my most dynamic, but I did it and that's what counts. I am supposed to be doing the cardio abs workouts. I forgot earlier in the week so will do it tomorrow.

I have the same problem as you with the hour long workouts Caitlin - it takes a big chunk out of my day/evening. Will do a weigh in/measure at the end but I think the insanities have been pretty effective so maybe it's worth it?

Have a good eve all

onlywhenyouleave · 05/06/2016 21:53

HDMI is the extent of my technical knowledge I'm afraid Grin

They do have air-conditioning but it is quite ineffective and absolutely no use when you are stood in what feels like a greenhouse in direct sunshine Confused

yumyumpoppycat · 05/06/2016 21:55

the MM bsd is the 800 cal one I did Boobz, it is aimed at people who suspect they are type 2 or pre diabetic, there is a questionairre thing and at the time I had a strong chance of developing type 2 as was borderline obesse and carb sugar cravings etc. This is the website thebloodsugardiet.com/ an alternative is lowish carbs but with beans, veg yog etc 5 days a week and 2 days at 800 cals.

Roastie I will feedback on the other workouts - extra motivtion for me to do them then which is good - the current amazon price is half what it has been for ages, but still v steep for 4 25 min workouts.

Only if you do metafit then surely its ok to skip pump class - health and safety is never a poor excuse ;) I thought skipping tea would be awful but honestly its not and there are some sciency reasons why its better than skipping breakfast,

yumyumpoppycat · 05/06/2016 21:56

thats weird missed those last posts, Purple how is the higher protein working out?

Boobz · 06/06/2016 06:52

How much weight did you lose Yum?

Purpleraindeer · 06/06/2016 07:53

Higher protein working well thanks poppy. I now eat 100g + per day. I feel leaner (waiting another week to do measurements to see if this isn't just wishful thinking!) and have lost some weight despite a week of being on hols and treats over the weekends. I've really noticed I want sugary food a lot less too. After a few days of eating ice cream on hols I was craving yoghurt and berries. Shock

Boobz · 06/06/2016 09:26

Max Cardio Conditioning done.

KatieKaboom · 06/06/2016 09:36

Shock 800 cals sounds scarily low to me. Surely your body would be cannibalising your muscle? It is much less than what the Nazis were feeding the Jews at Auschwitz. That said, I'm a podgy BMI23 who has been losing and gaining the same half-stone for five years, so I'm probably not the best person to consult for diet advice. Grin

I am posting from the middle of the INsanity Max 30 Friday Night Fight Level 1. Apparently Shaun T and hayfever are a bad mix. Lungs about to explode.

Happy exercising all!
