Good one boobz.

P90x was about ten or so years ago wasn't it? I agree with boobz and the hair too dark. I did legs and back today. Am I the only one that feels a bit sorry for the trainee dentist in that DVD? It feels like everything she does Tony does it differently (she does her feet a different way in a lunge thing and he compares her to dreya who he seems to adore and looks a bit overexcited when he does the 'hugging and loving' in the cool down and I just get that vibe that his friends in the DVD he rates and has great rapport with and then they've stuck this dentist in with them and they haven't gelled. And then she has the ordasity to say she is stirring a lobster bisque in the pot stirrers). Gah, I clearly think about this too much/have done it too many times.

I prefer Shaun t too, he is such a motivator (although in insanity asylum I find him too mean and it doesn't motivate me as much). I find Tony more motivating than Charlene though even if he is annoying and would drive me crazy in rl.

Trying to workout my workout routine in half term with lots of activities planned with DD is proving tricky, I think I'm going to have to have two rest days rather than one rest and one yoga and fingers crossed I can get everything else worked in. Kenpo tomorrow hopefully.

onlywhenyouleave · 30/05/2016 20:09

Evening all - hope those of you in the UK have had a good bank holiday weekend Smile

Have managed a workout every day which I am pleased about - this morning, me and DH did Speed 2.0 together which was fun - obviously on normal days, I work out alone at 5.15 in the morning Wink

Anyway, update on my weight issues - I seem to have lost weight all of a sudden. Am fitting into skirts I haven't worn in about 2 years (although they are still on the snug side but they zip up!)

Thanks again for all the pep talks a few days ago - I know this ride is going to be bumpy as it is a long one but feeling more positive about it.

11 weeks to go until my holiday and I have a size 14 swimming costume in my drawer which I want to take with me - I am a size 16 now so is that doable?

caitlinohara · 30/05/2016 20:54

That's great news only, and I bet you manage another dress size in 11 weeks if you stick with it. Definitely keep up the water though, I really think it makes a massive difference.

Roastie I really hate legs and back. I can't do that stupid first move with the lunge with your leg on the chair, my leg bends and the knee of the leg on the floor ends up over my toe and I wobble all over the show. Puts me in a bad mood for the whole thing Angry. Did Plyo today for the first time since I was ill and it was ok actually, hard but it felt like I needed to do it. Treated myself to big barbecued steak and salad after Smile. I don't really like any of the people in P90X by the way. I know what you mean about it being a split between his mates and the test group, but I like that he used people who had done the programme rather than just random fit people who didn't get to look like that just from doing that workout (see for example anyone Jillian uses, and the likes of Christina from T25 - no way does she only work out for 25 minutes a day!)

Boobz · 31/05/2016 08:49

Yes only I think that is do-able.

Mmmm, steak.

I know what you mean about P90X's crew - but at least we get to know them a little - his little spiels about where they are from, what they do etc. I know nothing about Ariel or Mandy. Oh Lloyd used to be in the marines. And Jonny's a b-ball player.

Right, Max Interval Sports done. Started Ab ripper x but then thought I really must get on - I have a deadline today!

Jacksterbear · 31/05/2016 09:55

only, well done on the weightloss, and yes I'd say that size 15 goal is achievable.

Boobz, sounds like a good decision, to give up the regime you hated. Amongst the many things I've read recently about exercise was an article saying that exercise is totally counterproductive if you are hating every second and/or doing it with a "punishment" mentality, as it's just going to raise cortisol levels, with no good physical or mental results.

Re exercise wear, I live near a Nike factory outlet store so it's an obvious choice for me - and it always amuses me at the gym, that pretty much everyone there is in head-to-toe Nike!

Purple, hope you feel better soon. We have all had a horrible cough/blocked sinus bug in our house, which has lingered and lingered. Sad

I exercised x6 last week (mixture of stuff), but yet to get going this week... Need to find some motivation!

Waves to everyone else, good work all.

Oops, size 14

Purpleraindeer · 31/05/2016 21:15

That's great about the weight only. I remember roastie had some good advice re 'the long haul'. She said she just committed for a month and allowed herself to feel like she could stop at the end of the month (but then carried on going). I did something similar actually. Made it feel more manageable.

In p90x3 Tony refers to 'test group guy'. The poor man doesn't get a name! Most of the insanity cast seem anonymous too. And yes - totally agree re Christina in t25. She's so perfect she gets on my nerves. She needs to sweat and look knackered like the rest of us!

I splashed out on some workout stuff from sweaty Betty. Smile I need your Nike outlet jackster.

Max cardio conditioning tonight. Felt much more tiring than when I last did it so think I'm still a bit under the weather. Felt great when it was over Grin

Boobz · 01/06/2016 08:33

Can I see a #SS (sweaty selfie) of you in your new work out gear Purple?

So I have just done Max Cardio Conditioning (45 mins) and Goliaz MAB (which took about 22 mins)...

...and now I challenge YOU all, to be MABed:

onlywhenyouleave · 01/06/2016 09:32

Boobz I think I will pass on being MABed thank you Wink Far too hardcore for me!

I don't mind Christina in T25 but it does annoy me when Shaun insists on calling her form 'perfection' constantly - seriously, how many times can he say that?? I do prefer Jen though - I have serious figure envy of Jen!!

I am so going to treat myself to some cool workout gear when I am a size 12 (so in about 12 months Grin) - definitely going to get some Tikiboo leggings and vests. At the moment, all my workout gear is black or dark grey although since I only actually venture out in public to a gym in it once a week, I could work out naked the rest of the time and it wouldn't matter!

Have drawn up a workout schedule for myself from this week up to the week we go on holiday so I have a plan for each day. As I am trying to rotate between T25 workouts and 21-day fix workouts, I keep forgetting what I did the week before so thought I would set it all out and tick them off as I do them - bit sad I know Blush

Hope you are all good and enjoy your workouts today Smile

caitlinohara · 01/06/2016 16:50

only I don't think that's sad at all - I love having lists and ticking things off!

I have to do bloody Yoga X again today. Seems to come round more often than once a week! I really should devise an alternative but I haven't got round to it. It just does not suit my personality, especially the 'relaxing' bits at the end. I can feel myself getting wound up and thinking "come on, come on! Get on with it! Stuff to do! Places to go! People to see!" which is obviously the opposite to what is intended. Blush I am envious of yoga types though, people who are really into it always seem to have great physiques.

Boobz meant to say before, well done for stopping with the Goliaz thing. If it's not working for you AND you hate it, it's a no brainer. I remember the year I stuck at Body Revolution for the full 90 days even though I KNEW it wasn't working for me. I kept telling myself that it would all come together at the end and of course, it didn't, and then it was too late and I only had a fortnight before I went on holiday Angry.

RoastieToastieReastie · 01/06/2016 19:13

Hello,

Kenpo X yesterday but my body felt tired and lacking energy so didn't do it very well. Rest day today then I'm hoping to do chest and back tomorrow but have a very busy day with DD so may have to have second rest day (in place of doing yoga X such a shame ). Been feeling a bit low and under the weather and generally exhausted.

Caitlin, I agree, I like there are 'normal' test group people on p90x it's just for some reason I find the dentist lady doesn't gel with Tony at all. I was wondering about swapping yoga X for piyo maybe, but I haven't got any further than that yet. I've booked a local yoga class again next Wednesday for my weekly yoga to avoid yoga X.

Yay to sudden loss only, that's fab.bif it helps I like ticking lists of workouts when I do them too. I also log it on my calendar alongside calories burnt and average heart rate so I can compare how hard i work. I'm also logging reps and weights in p90x which u never bothered with last time but I really like looking at progression and I'm glad I've done it now. It makes me work harder to beat how I did last time.

caitlinohara · 01/06/2016 19:45

Sorry you're not feeling great Roastie. I wonder if your theory is true then?? I was 3 weeks into P90X when I got ill. It's weird because whilst you're doing it it doesn't seem as intense as Shaun T's workouts for example, but it catches up with you later. On the plus side, I've never slept so well in my life! I don't rate Kenpo X much to be honest, it feels too easy, and if it's too easy for me it must be a doddle for everyone else on here! It never gets going imo, and if I HAVE to do cardio, I want that proper buzz you get afterwards. Hope you feel better soon anyway. Maybe a couple of rest days is just what you need Smile

Jacksterbear · 01/06/2016 20:37

Roastie may I join you on the feeling tired and run down bench? Struggling this week, although managed a Hip Hop Abs yesterday (which is my go-to when feeling off form as it's very gentle compared to other ST stuff!). DH out tonight so gave kissed my gym session, but will try to do something shortly, as DC have settled.

DS has started karate classes and I am quite jealous - it looks awesome!

caitlin I know what you mean about the relaxation sections at the end of DVDs. I am getting better at seeing them as not a waste of time though. And am less cynical now than I used to be about all that slightly hippyish stuff.

Boobz I am scared but will take a look at your link...

OP posts:
Jacksterbear · 01/06/2016 20:38

Doh! Have missed not kissed!

OP posts:
RoastieToastieReastie · 01/06/2016 20:59

Caitlin I'm with you on the p90x cardio front. I'm wondering about doing combat in place of kenpo and potentially insanity (or possibly turbo fire) in place of plyo. I also agree it doesn't feel hardcore at the time but I'm hoping for some results. My weights I'm using are definitely higher than last time I tried it a couple of years ago which is a good start. It could just be me on the getting ill with a new programme thing but every. Single. Time. It happens to me.

You see I really like the relaxation part of the DVD. I used not to but now I wish it were longer (although I don't think it's Tony's forte so maybe it might work better for you with someone else). Really helps with my stress and anxiety (and I need all the help I can get!).

Jackster sorry you're sharing the feeling exhausted feeling of the day. Hopefully a good nights sleep and we'll be back on form (and Grin to kissing the gym session). DD does taekwondo and I got to see a session to see what they've been learning and it's great! She's only five but does all these blocks and kicks and things.

Purpleraindeer · 02/06/2016 08:42

Agree with everyone who can't be faffed with the relaxation bit of DVDs. I can barely resist fast forwarding the stretches! I'd never done one of the stretch workouts until I did max recovery (insanity) and it was bloody difficult to motivate myself to do that one tbh. Caitlin - I'd take your own advice and substitute yoga x if I was you!

Jackster - sorry you're feeling under the weather. It's annoying isn't it - not absolutely at deaths door, but not well either. I'm finally over my DOMS. It has taken a week for me to be able to properly move my forearms/use my hands again. I don't know what caused it but it was horrible.

Max plyo last night. Was so sweaty after the 1st circuit I had to dash to get some kitchen roll! Forgot to take a photo of me in my new top, but it would have been pretty horrible given the sweat situation so you didn't miss out Smile. Was going to be a rest day today, but might try to squeeze something in later. To be clear - it won't be boobz's MAB workout - that is firmly in the 'unenjoyable' category as far as I'm concerned! Have a good day all

Jacksterbear · 02/06/2016 14:16

Roastie, me too re stress and anxiety - it's my main reason for exercising. Smile

Purple - I always think I am going to fast fwd the stretch sections in Insanity (original not max 30) but when it comes to it am just too glad to have the break! Grin I do think that must be why he made T25 though - people "complaining" that there are only about 25 mins of actual cardio exercise in a 40-45 min Insanity workout.

Did manage another hip hop abs last night (legs one), and have made it to gym this morning for a circuits class - quite fun.

RoastieToastieReastie · 02/06/2016 19:00

Well, no workout today, super shattered again but now I'm feeling itchy for a workout and desperate to do one. I've booked DD and I to go to the cinema tomorrow morning and I'm wondering if I can get a workout in before I go as I know otherwise sitting for a couple of hours is going to drive me crazy, I'm feeling unfit and sluggish and that my muscles and body is desperate for some exercise.

Jackster well done for getting a workout in.

Purpleraindeer · 02/06/2016 20:56

Maybe this is the time for a sneaky 22min hardcore roastie? Will be easy to fit in at least.

Max cardio conditioning again for me. Did a bikram style workout tonight as hadn't realised heating was set to max so it was roasting in the house. sweat-tastic. I'm starting to hate the insanity warm up. Why couldn't he have had a different one for each work out? I have 'Hit the floor' one too many times I think.....

RoastieToastieReastie · 02/06/2016 21:08

I think I may purple, but I'm also thinking I may do my p90x chest and back DVD I'm due but I know the names of the moves now so if I copy them for the warm up and cool down and get straight to business with the reps in each mice with no Tony chatting and taking his time I can cut the length of the workout and possibly squeeze that in. At least you know where you are with the same warm up, but I know what you mean, it does get so tedious.

caitlinohara · 03/06/2016 13:25

Roastie Sorry you're still not feeling so good. My legs are aching like mad from Legs & Back last night but I am playing tennis with ds1 in a minute and then taking the others swimming after that so I share your exhaustion. At least it's only Kenpo for me this evening (and I have just eaten another steak to keep me going Smile)

Purple You are the cardio queen! Every time I look at the workouts you do I inwardly shudder Grin.

Jackster I totally agree that the stretch etc is important. I just can't see the point of lying still in corpse pose for an entire minute! Ironically, I am probably the kind of stressy person who would benefit most from yoga, if I could be bothered Grin.

RoastieToastieReastie · 04/06/2016 07:57

Caitlin hope y enjoyed kenpo and you're not too exhausted.

I managed chest and back at 7:45 yesterday and shaved ten minutes off the workout by dashing from one exercise to the next rather than listening to Tony chatting. I also did fewer reps than they do on a lot of moves. Tbh I'm getting fed up that I don't feel I can push myself on it at all because my injury flairs up every time I do it. On the plus side I finally have my scan through and it's in a couple of weeks.

Today is plyo X but I think I'll do a generic cardio workout instead. Once I feel stronger it'll be insanity but for today I think turbo fire. Has anyone got any cardio DVD recommendations? I really get annoyed by those women in turbo fire but there are times I just want to do cardio without push-ups etc which insanity does. I tried rockin body once but found it too easy but I do like routines but never get to do them anymore.

onlywhenyouleave · 04/06/2016 09:30

roastie what about a combat workout? It is choreographed with fab music (well I think so too) - there is a really good one on the secret site.

On Les Mills on demand, they have bodyjam and Sh'bam workouts which are very dance-based - not my cup of tea as I am not at all dancy but if you are, you would enjoy it.

RoastieToastieReastie · 04/06/2016 10:45

Funnily enough I'm going to do combat in place of kenpo but I thought it would be more challenging to have two totally different cardio workouts a week rather than two combat. I just did turbo fire 45 ez and felt so unfit! But I think that's as o haven't done it for ages and whenever I go back to something I haven't done it's more challenging, which makes me think that doing different cardio workouts rather than the same plyo X and kenpo X would be better. Average heart rate is higher by a whisker in turbo fire this morning than on plyo and definitely felt like I worked harder over longer time (Tony's cardio feels a bit start stop start stop with the moves rather than continual). Maybe I'll try the free trial of Les mills on demand...only issue is my internet connection is rubbish since we've moved providers.

On another note, those using heart rate monitors, what sort of reading do you work to be in/stay in as a good workout? My one has an automated 'zone' for me between about 125 and 155 and I wondered if this is what most people achieve. I know for hiit I think it's suppose to be higher than the max though. This morning my average was 147.

KatieKaboom · 04/06/2016 11:10

Y'ALL ARE INSPIRING. I think I am going to buy some bands for pullups (none of our doorways would support it) and order p90x for my birthday- starting it in autumn. It sounds great...

I was thinking of the Asylum because the ladder looks so nifty but I can't really see myself being THAT fit. Insanity Max 30 Month 1 has been challenging for me.
