New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

Sorry - I don't know how to do the clever link thing you all do! Blush

yumyumpoppycat · 08/05/2016 08:14

Oh wow that looks fab purple, I found one workout on rutube but they are all listed nicely there.

Katie - lol at wickerman Grin

Roonerspism · 08/05/2016 09:16

Thanks for the welcome Smile

You did manage the link. I'm very impressed as I can't do link. I didn't even know there was another version of YouTube - these look fab if a little nuts!!!

Yes - I'm a kettlebell addict myself. Only because it suits my body IYSWIM? Too much cardio wears me out

caitlinohara · 08/05/2016 14:52

I am here, just ill. Not done anything since Thursday, too poorly. Think I have chest infection or similar, had temp of 40.5 yesterday Sad. Off to docs tomorrow to beg for antibiotics. Haven't taken any for years. Serves me right for being all "ooh I'm so healthy" lately. Angry

Just hearing about Insanity & Max30 makes me feel tired! Keep up the good work everyone Smile

Purpleraindeer · 08/05/2016 18:44

Poor you Caitlin. You sound properly ill. Rest up.

Katie - ha ha re wicker man. And thank you for confirming what I've always thought. Sweat intervals is awful. No matter how fit I am I always find it hard and dread it. You're right - it must be the type of moves.

Did max out power tonight. It has some hands free press ups (the ones boobz was mentioning). I did them properly now I know what I'm supposed to do and they were hard.

And can't remember who's recipe it was, but I made the protein bars and they are yum. I bought the Joe wicks (body coach guy) cookbook. Looks really good but can't get my head round how I work out if I'm eating too much. Eleanor are you still around? How did you do it?

Have a good eve all. Hope you enjoyed the sunshine today

disappointed101 · 08/05/2016 19:00

Caitlin get better soon :( definitely rest up. Purple I love the Joe Wicks book. I bit the bullet and have made loads of the recipes. They are yummy. I wasn't sure if my boys would like them but they have really been enjoying food recently. I think some of the measures of ingredients are wierd....I find some of his measurements good for the four of us rather than the single portion. Autumn Calabrese's fixate book has some cool recipes too..you can get it on the beachbody UK website.
I'm feeling a bit meh about exercise at the moment. I have a lot of work to do over the next couple of weeks and I am feeling the stress. I can't seem to follow any workout for more than a few weeks before switching up. I'm tempted to go back to p90x like a few of you. I will have to get up early though. P90x always seems to give good results.

RoastieToastieReastie · 08/05/2016 19:39

Caitlin hope you feel better soon. You'll be back on it soon just rest up and get better.

Dissapointed I'm thinking of starting p90x on Tuesday week if you want to start then? I'm going to roughly stick to the program but may swap some days around when needed.

Did pump revolution today and worked hard. Haven't done body pump for ages and aching a bit tomorrow so not sure what state I'll be in in the morning! I'm hoping to do a workout in morning, maybe insanity cardio or perhaps a run but if I'm too stiff it may end out being a stretch DVD and a core workout instead.

Still feeling down about my problem tummy and accepting I've put on weight (or lost muscle making it look like I've put on weight) but I'm going to have to step up the effort.

Katie I admit I do really like the ladder on the asylum!

Only let me know how cp was once you're back and any hints/tips to help me when I go next week end.

KatieKaboom · 09/05/2016 11:03

Get well soon, Caitlin.

Did Insanity Max 30 "Sweat Intervals" today (don't do them in order... can't follow programmes as written). Made an absolute hash of it. Took a long (ten minute) break at the 17-minute mark and then paused multiple times in the last ten minutes. Argh! This one is fast becoming my bête noire. Not sure why...

Does Pump Revolution use weights, Roastie? Well done on knackering yourself... it's got to be good for you!

Disappointed... hope you get your exercise mojo back. A complete break where you don't 'let' myself exercise till X date might work? Reverse psychology works wonders.

My darling daughter has just plunked the biscuit tin in my lap whilst I read all your healthy cookbook recommendations. Grin

Bank holiday here... off to watch the tanks roll by.

KatieKaboom · 09/05/2016 11:06

Don't let myself = don't let yourself. Egotistical phone autocorrect!

RoastieToastieReastie · 09/05/2016 11:27

Katie here is pump revolution . I'm surprised they have it on you tube and it hasn't been removed! It's a great workout (as are the other pump ones) and I reckon you could do almost everything just with hand weights.

This morning my triceps ached, my shoulders ached, and my chest ached. But regardless I did insanity pure cardio and boy did I work hard! Sweat was dripping off me by the end and I felt amazing once I had finished. Glad I pressed play even if I couldn't do proper jumping jacks as it hurt my chest too much. I'm loving my little sneaky free choice week and wondering what excitement I might do tomorrow. I think I might try the p90x3 warrior DVD that came as a bonus in hc22. Has anyone done this?

KatieKaboom · 09/05/2016 15:57

Thank you! I'll download that and have a go this week.

Love freestyle working out. :)

RoastieToastieReastie · 09/05/2016 16:14

If you're going to do the pump workout Katie, this is my favourite of the pump workouts

Purpleraindeer · 09/05/2016 16:51

Disappointed - i def feel like that sometimes. When my exercise which is supposed to be stress relief becomes something which is stressful then I know something needs to change. Why don't you just have a random week like roastie is doing and just do your fave work outs? Or see if someone on here will do a challenge week with you? If you've got max30 and p90x3 you could join in with me on my hybrid for a week to mix it up a bit?

Roastie - sorry you're feeling fed up re your tummy. I don't have much to suggest really except I'm very sympathetic - our negative voices in our heads always seem to drive out the positive ones if we're not careful. I had a video conference today and all I could see was my arm and it looked fat. I knew I was being irrational as my arms are not fat, but it got me down, so much so that I thought I'd cancel my rest day and do a work out tonight. Luckily I've seen sense now Smile

And I put the 2 nice sounding lean in 15 breakfasts into mfp. They were 800cals if you had the portion he suggested Shock. I halved it in the end.

RoastieToastieReastie · 09/05/2016 18:13

Dissapointed can definitely recommend going off piste it's free choice workout week, I'm loving it. It might just give some motivation back to you.

Purple :( about your arm comment, but I suppose in a way it makes me feel better than I'm not alone with these thoughts.

disappointed101 · 09/05/2016 20:58

Thank you Roastie and purple, think I am definitely going to choose my favourite workouts :)
Roastie I might do a pump tomorrow...I really enjoy those :)

RoastieToastieReastie · 09/05/2016 21:08

I felt great afte pump yesterday and I love that you can actually sing along to the music and it's not the usual bb wordless beats. Enjoy!

KatieKaboom · 09/05/2016 21:15

Someone posted a link to Lyle McDonald talking about fat loss for women on the myfitnesspal forums today, and I hope I'm not breaking any fitness fred rules by reposting it here.

I found it really eye-opening- about the effect of leptin, the way women will respond to harder exercise by reducing their energy expenditure in normal activities (therefore overall not increasing calorie needs), the way women's bodies fight to stay in homeostasis much harder than men's do.... anyway, it's not patronising at all.

Posting in the hopes that it helps anyone feel better about carrying any extra fat that they are unhappy with. It's just biology.

It's truly amazing we're not all 30 stone!

KatieKaboom · 09/05/2016 21:18

Roastie, the songs and accents and everything about the pump routines looks great! I only have dumbbells up to 10kg and no barbell, unfortunately, but I look forward to trying it.

RoastieToastieReastie · 10/05/2016 06:56

Katie that link sounds really in testing, I'm going to look in a sec. Re body pump when you do the legs tracks I'd hold the weights with your hands down to your legs iykwim rather than pretending you have a barbell but all the other moves I think you can just pretend you have a barbell and some of the tracks use weights not the barbell anyway.

KatieKaboom · 10/05/2016 12:11

Thanks, Roastie! My child should be back in school tomorrow so I am looking forward to trying it (can't pick up the heavy dumbbells when she is about because she always tries to get herself donged in the head... had a near miss when she did a proper chaaaaaaaaaarge while I was doing tricep kickbacks and now I'm too nervous). They seem very friendly workouts!

This morning, did Tabata Power (Max 30, Month 1) 30 mins - definitely the easiest Shaun T Max 30 workout, but aaaaargh, felt it, especially in the triceps! Despite having been doing French presses and kickbacks and one-legged dips for a while, I can really feel the triceps start to ache during the speed dips. Didn't max out.

Afterwards, did Jillian Michaels BodyShred Workout 5 Conquer (month 2) 30mins. Not as challenging as I'd hoped. It was enjoyable and some of the balance moves were great, but there was no great step up in difficulty from the first month's workouts- slightly disappointing.

Just noticed that the BodyShred workouts are mostly on YouTube at the moment, if you search by workout name (Apex, Conquer, Zenith, etc. ), should anyone be interested!

Jacksterbear · 10/05/2016 17:26

Hello lovelies. It's been aaaaages! Sorry I abandoned you all for so long. I am still exercising away. I see there are lots of new posters on here which is great. Also pleased to see poppy, Purple and Boobz from the original gang still here. Have skim-read the last 3 pages in an attempt to catch up with what you're all doing. Loving the variety of stuff - lots of inspiration for new stuff to try!

I have done an Insanity (month 1, cardio power and resistance) and a T25 (alpha, lower focus) so far this week. Gym tmrw for Body Combat, then will see how the mood takes me for the rest of the week's workouts!

Hello Jackster - long time no seeeee!

I still have 3 days no more exercise - grrr. Am trying to eat Goliaz nutrition but the lite version as am obviously not burning anything off. Am back on it on Saturday - am going to do a 10km run and a Goliaz work out, and then Sunday another longer run if my legs are ok and maybe an Insanity for old time's sake, before getting back into Goliaz properly - will have 3 months left to go of the Super You transformation!

EleanorAbernathy · 10/05/2016 23:39

Just checking in - not done any T25 the last few days because I went and caught a cold man flu, I HAVE however been making sure I get my step goal and being really good with eating and have managed to lose the 3lbs I put on in my last few weeks of not doing much and eating everything in sight! Grin

Also had a hospital appointment today and I'm starting on new drugs for the MS soon so I'll have no excuse then! The deadly man-flu is nearly gone so back on the T25 tomorrow if all goes to plan.

Just scrolling up - Purple Joe Wicks' book is different to the SSS plan that I did, on the plan they work out all the amounts for you so you don't have to worry about eating too much! I suppose with the book you'd need to put the recipes into MyFitnessPal and do it that way, I do have the book but haven't cooked anything from it yet, I really should - plus Jamie's Superfoods and the Hairy Bikers one!

I have entered the ballot for next year's London Marathon. I don't want to do it - I just want to be able to say that I have! So I suppose I'd better start running again just in case!

Purpleraindeer · 11/05/2016 07:31

Hi jackster! Somehow I knew even tho you weren't posting that you were exercising away. Hope you're well.

Thanks Eleanor for the Joe wicks advice. The recipes are ok but the portion sizes are really massive - 300g mince for 1 person! Also mine are never all beautifully set out on the plate like his. Hope the new drugs agree with you.

Boobz - not long now before you're back exercising again. Hope the boobs look good. You've inspired everyone to sign up to do marathons.

Katie - big respect for doing tabata power without maxing. I've done that work out on and off for a year and still can't get through all of the plyo press ups. You're right tho - the rest is actually pretty manageable.
This is my last week of my hybrid. Did p90x3 warrior last night (love that one!). 2 more p90x and 1 max30 to go. Has taken exactly 2 mths. Am thinking about doing some insanity next. Maybe month 2, but not sure if the work outs are a bit long to be practical for me. Might do a week and re-assess then.

Have a good day! Smile

onlywhenyouleave · 11/05/2016 10:06

Morning all Smile

Jackster welcome back, glad the exercising is still ongoing!

Well, I had a fab weekend away but the diet really did go out the window despite my good intentions Blush but, strangely, my clothes feel a bit loser now than they did before I went Confused

Anyway, back on the wagon again. Am doing a hybrid of T25 and 21-day fix and aiming for 1 cardio (probably Speed of some variety or Plyo fix), 1 total body (Dirty 30, Rip't Circuit, Pyramid etc), 1 abs, 1 upper workout and 1 lower workout each week then either Stretch or yoga fix at the weekend. How does that sound? I figure I will get a good overall workout by the end of each week plus the mixing of all the workouts will mean my body doesn't get complacent. Or, should I be doing more cardio??

Am checking out the yoga recommendations but I do find yoga really dull but some of those workouts on YouTube are only short aren't they?

Love hearing about the marathon aspirations - fingers crossed for you all. That is way above my running abilities so I am very impressed by any one that can complete one!
