Good lord Boobz I would be weeping into my sweat bands with that schedule. Hope your recovery goes well. And your arms do look amazing in that photo. Mine are 'toned' (hate that word) but not strong and it's maddening.

Roastie I think that's amazing about your weight loss. You must have an amazing amount of willpower. Sorry that HC22 hasn't been a success. Maybe it's one of those that is good to have if you're maintaining over winter rather than to improve fitness. Glad you are planning on doing P90X again if only so that I have someone to compare notes with!

Re diet and stuff, wanted to share a link to these amazing home made protein bars here - I use pure whey protein off of Amazon and have started adding it to pancakes etc as well, can't believe it didn't occur to me to use it in recipes other than smoothies before! The coconut ones are awesome, bit like dark chocolate Bounties. Really filling and a darn sight cheaper than buying them.

I feel crap today, knew I was coming down with something yesterday (dcs and dh have been coughing and carrying on all weekend) but I am basically not permitted to be ill until everyone else is better so I have been trying to stave it off with NutriBullet and green tea. LUCKILY (if that's the right word) it is Yoga X today which I can probably just about cope with, if I can stay awake. Still on schedule (midway through week 3 now) and v curious to see what 'recovery week' next week will be like - looking at it I think it's just no weights but loads of core work and yoga, so I am a bit Hmm.

lavenderhoney · 04/05/2016 19:00

Boobz , I hope your recovery is going well:)

And am impressed with all the exercise and a marathon entry! I would like to but I remember running ten k once and thinking almost from the off ' what are you DOING??!"

I haven't been able to do anything as dd has been poorly, but back to insanity last night after a few days and again hopefully tonight, although dd looks ill again sadly. The nice weather has given me a push, I need to get my summer dresses out. And my legs (!)

RoastieToastieReastie · 04/05/2016 20:50

Lavender hope DD gets better soon and you don't succumb. I think all this change in weather is breeding ground for bugs, for some reason whenever it gets cold or warm there seem to be an influx of lurgies.

Caitlin I'll be glad to have a fellow p90x-er. I've decided to stop hc 22 a week early. I think for a 22 minute workout it's fab and I've loved the break from longer workouts but I think the results are limiting because of the time (especially as I didn't follow their diet plan). I think I'm going off piste for a week and then starting p90x once I'm back from our week end away, so I'll pick and choose some old favourite workouts I haven't done in ages. I miss the variety a bit. I'm wondering whether to try insanity max sweat tomorrow to celebrate (from the secret site) as I've never done it before. Is this is good one to test it out with or would anyone recommend another one?

Caitlin those bars look nice but alas I'm off the chocolate completely. I make my own snack balls using dried apricots and almonds. Sometimes I vary it by adding lemon or orange or spices but I try to keep it basic. I really like them and I know apricots are super sweet and sugary but I have had problems in the past with iron so tell myself they are helping that and don't have much a day (and given I don't eat any sugar in anything other than a little dried and fresh fruit I figure it's ok).

Purpleraindeer · 05/05/2016 09:22

Roastie - max out sweat is great. I think it's a pretty tough work out but fun. This is when you do it and breeze thru it no problem.... Grin

I just bought the ingredients for the protein bars as I'm easily led! Yum.

Boobz - there are hands off press ups in max30. I will do them properly next time and undoubtedly find them harder!

No work out for me last night. Blush felt really under the weather and couldn't face it. That's unlike me so I listened to my instincts and sat on the sofa. Back on it tonight hopefully

RoastieToastieReastie · 05/05/2016 09:49

Purple sometimes you need a rest when you're under the weather, hope you feel better soon.

just finished insanity max sweat. Purple, you were right mthat was tough! I didn't realise I was going straight into a month two workout out! I would've gone for an easier one if I had known! I modified in places and had to have a few breaks too. Annoyingly my internet connection went down at 28 minutes (we are having ongoing issues) so I had to stop a little early and do my own stretches I may have been thankful at the time . It felt good to do insanity though, and I missed Shaun t. I was funny how he was using the same expressions as the other insanity cardio workout like bananas, I'm nervous, and I don't even remember the names of my moves. You're all right though, the people in that video are complete machines!

RoastieToastieReastie · 05/05/2016 09:51

Think I might try the free bonus o90x 3 workout that's in with hc22 on Saturday.

I just did my before and after for hc22 thinking there would be no difference at all and actually buy waist is a little smaller and more toned only if you really look closely. I usually shy away from core and abs work as in so rubbish at it so the three ten minute core videos a week must have made a difference.

Roonerspism · 05/05/2016 10:25

Is insanity stuff on YouTube??

Purpleraindeer · 05/05/2016 21:34

Rooner - I found all of the workouts on a website called rutube. But yes just google it and you'll find a lot of them online.

Well done roastie! Am glad hc 22 delivered something even if it wasn't quite as hardcore as you were hoping. Could you do it as doubles - eg 44mins each day do you think? Am wondering what to do next.

Mmx for me tonight. During the workout I was thinking it wasn't stretching me anymore but once I stopped my legs suddenly felt massively tired and achy. It must have done something?!

caitlinohara · 05/05/2016 22:03

Ugh, totally wussed out on Yoga X last night as felt too grim. Seem to have mostly shaken it off now so did it this evening but it's not getting any easier OR less boring! Boobz if you are there, did you do a Bikram yoga class or did you have a DVD? Any recommendations welcome, preferably less than 90 mins!!

Purple I hope you are achy from exercise and aren't coming down with something!

RoastieToastieReastie · 06/05/2016 06:19

Caitlin I was wondering about doing a piyo workout in place of yoga X when I get there to save my sanity with it. Glad you're feeling a bit better.

Purple hopefully it's doing something, tired and achy sounds like it's definitely doing something.

Rest day for me today.

Boobz · 06/05/2016 09:40

It was a class - I have never done yoga from a DVD, only ante-natal yoga, or Bikram yoga, both outside classes.

KatieKaboom · 06/05/2016 10:05

Caitlin, you did the right thing having a rest! I just took two days off thanks to a hayfever attack out of the blue- the pollen in this country seems to be stronger than in my own. Probably shouldn't have gone trespassing running in an orchard at the weekend. Blush Going to jump back into it today- not up to Insanity Max30, so will go back to t25, Speed 2.0 or similar, and expect to get my bottom kicked!

I'm following the yoga chat with interest. Could anyone recommend the best yoga DVD? I've outgrown Jillian's Yoga Meltdown and would like something not too challenging but also not at all woo-woo. And not ninety minutes. I tried Shiva Rea and she's wonderful but also very heavy on the find your centre, rest your palm on your third eye, etc. and it gives me the creeps, tbh!

Boobz · 06/05/2016 14:25

Oh I'd like to know a good yoga DVD as well... will follow with interest.

My boobs look like the comedy ones Lord Melchett wears in Blackadder at the moment... I really do want this all to be done and dusted so I can just get on with Goliaz and get fit! DH is working out like a loon and I have severe FOMO.

Roonerspism · 06/05/2016 14:48

Katie - check out Yoga with Adrien on YouTube. She is fab. Fab!

KatieKaboom · 06/05/2016 19:18

Thanks, Rooners! Had a quick look and she has LOADS of short practices- will give her a go tonight if my munchkin deigns to fall asleep before I do! Will try "Yoga for Weight Loss, " as presumably that'll be a bit up-tempo.

Boobz- tried those hand release press-ups and ohhhh, you weren't kidding when you said they were hard. Going to chuck in a few of those on chest days, thanks! I hope you recover quickly and you can throw yourself into working out again and outdo your DH. x

KatieKaboom · 07/05/2016 11:53

Just popping in to say I really like that Adriene routine. Thanks again!

About to do Friday Fight Round 1, having skipped the Sweat one. Can't be bothered challenging myself today. Winning attitude!

Has anyone done the Asylum? Is it beyond hard?

Purpleraindeer · 07/05/2016 14:37

Err Katie - I'd say Friday fight is more challenging than sweat intervals...

Woke up all post work out achy and tired this am. Did max out sweat last night. Well 'did' is a bit strong. Limped through it would be a better description. Never mind. Hopefully total synergistics later.

lavenderhoney · 07/05/2016 18:22

Couldn't run today as ds spent the night being ill, and normally i run whilst he is in a Saturday class. Did insanity and the cardio abs instead but i really miss a good run. Dd is better but not great.

I have got my Pilates good to go on the app, but dithering if I should do that or cardio abs every morning. And really, I know I should do insanity in the morning as I am so busy in the evenings with the DC I don't start til after 9.30pm.

RoastieToastieReastie · 07/05/2016 19:41

Katie I've got asylum. I won't lie it isn't easy! It's a bit of my nemesis. I've never done the proper programme but have occasionally done one of the workouts. I really like the the speed and agility one, it's fab. It's very good but hard. I did it most after I finished insanity when my cardio fitness was at its strongest.

Lavender hope you get some sleep tonight after last night.

Purple insanity sweat is a killer, I limped through it when I attempted it last week.

I'm going to look into this adriene yoga thing.

Well, I'm on a free choice week after hc22 before starting p90x, today I did combat live and loved it. Worked really hard and enjoyed it so much more as a one off than when I do things regularly as part of a programme. Burned nearly 500 calls in 51 mins, which is heals more than hc22 where I do 200-275 (but obviously hc22 is a lot quicker). Tomorrow I think I'll do body pump.

Having a really down day with my weight though. Looked in the mirror a lot today (it was unavoidable as took DD to a gymnastics party) and i've noticeably put weight on in the last year after losing my 100lbs. I need to work harder so will now have to rethink what I eat and be strict again and hungry a lot . I was wearing a nice dress this morning but it clung to my tummy and made it look all wobbly (the excess skin effect) and like I was pregnant so in embaresement in my appearance I changed before the party so no one would see me in said dress. It's a new dress too Sad . I think I may end out selling it as I feel so un confident in it. I'll give myself some time before I do though to tone up more.

yumyumpoppycat · 07/05/2016 19:56

Roastie what about some tight vest tops from primark to go under the dress, I find them quite good at sucking things in. Tbh I used to wear spanx or tights pulled up over my tummy to my bra even when I was a slim 20 year old, n ow I just let it all hang out Blush What is live combat?

Lavendar what about just one workout a day, or switching and doing pilates in the eve? Hope your ds is better Flowers
Hope you are feeling better too Purple Flowers caitlin and anyone else who is poorly, also Boobz hope you are back on top for with goliaz and recovered soon.

I have been decorating this week (and working) and have basically abandoned exercise and diets, kinda nice to give it a miss for a bit but fingers crossed I will better next week Grin

Hi to Katie, Only, Rooners, disappointed and everyone else {fist bumps}

RoastieToastieReastie · 07/05/2016 20:47

Thank for the top idea yumy. I think the dress will have to be worn for now with a cardi firmly over the tummy. Thing with Spanx is I get ibs alot which includes a bloated tummy and if my tummy is constricted I find it can really set off the bloating and ibs issues so I have to stay away from that type of thing as much as possible.

Combat live is a DVD as part of the Bb les mills combat programme. They seem to have discontinued it now though. It's not one of their best programmes but I come back to them and I like punching workouts. They also have some songs you can actually sing along a bit to (today included tubthumping and can't touch this (as in mc hammer) even if they are redone versions of the originals. They also seem to have discontinued the bb pump DVDs, which is a real shame as they are great workouts. I wonder if it's because now les mills are doing an on demand option like bb do their online on demand stuff they want people to use their own online content and not buy the DVD.

Roonerspism · 07/05/2016 22:14

I feel a bit thick - I can only find Insanity adverts on YouTube

If anyone is into kettlebells then Ryan Raw's stuff on YouTube is worth a look!

lavenderhoney · 08/05/2016 06:26

Yum yum, hope your decorating is going well. I use Friday as my rest day because it's easier for me to excercise at weekends.

Roastie, I know what you mean about a wobbly tummy under a dress- and right now I'm wearing a few dresses which are quite old fashioned in style - fitted at the top but with a loose skirt, skater style ish but longer, not 50's Rock and roll though. Slim fitting.

Yes, I need to have a think about my timing with the DVDs because doing it at night is affecting any free time I have at all, even just to tidy up or keep in touch with friends.

KatieKaboom · 08/05/2016 06:44

Lavender, I hope your children feel better today!

Rooners, will have a look at that kettlebells channel! One of my friends is a now kettlebells fanatic and I'm going to visit her in Belfast this year. Should try to learn some of the moves so we could attend a class together.

Thanks for the Asylum rundown, Roastie! It sounds hard. I think I'd better leave it for a while, since Insanity Max 30 is kicking my bum. The ladder thing just looks so nifty, though! But I have enough nemesis workouts already, like Tonique (1-2 hrs of lunge variations?!).

Big sympathies on the dress. Clothes shopping is a total nightmare and unexpected reflective surfaces in public places are the enemy! I bet you look lovely and are just being hard on yourself, though.

Purple, I've only done each two or three times, but I definitely find Sweat Intervals a bit worse than Friday Fight. This probably means that there is something in the latter that I haven't realised I'm not doing properly yet. Grin But Sweat has particular moves I hate, like the tuck jump /squat thing where your legs hold shape while you go forward onto your hands and do a pressup- it makes me feel so awkward and ungainly, and I don't know if my form is correct. And the bit where they are all in a circle and punching and yelling MAX OUT gives me the willies. It's a bit like the end of the Wicker Man!
