Hc22 resistance 2 done. Yumy are you finding Tony h saying 'mmmmm' all the time that sounds a bit like a sex noise a bit off putting? He does it all the time in all the workouts! My favourite bit in resistance 2 is when th says to the guy about Michael Jackson and the army man says 'he heeee' a la MJ and other army person Sky looks Shock like that at him! I think I've done this workout too much now to notice such things...

Boobz sorry things weren't quite as enjoyable as you hoped with the marathon. It has always been on my bucket list to do the London marathon (and I've never done running particularly so it's completely unrealistic) but I don't think I'll ever manage it.

Purple you have made me shudder all day with the poo comment.

Eleanor I heart your ensemble. My workout gear is so dull and predominantly black to hide my bulges.

GP has referred me for an MRI but not sure how long I'll have to wait. Physio has said to wait until the results are back before I see her again unless arm issue gets worse. I hope I don't have to wait too long (and I'm also scared of the MRI after feeling completely claustrophobic last time I had one and got in a state and was shaking afterwards).

yumyumpoppycat · 12/04/2016 18:59

I noticed the michael jackson bit too Roastie - I also thought tony had a mini moment of perviness over sky?

yumyumpoppycat · 12/04/2016 19:07

Hopefully the MRI people will help to keep you calm, would it help to imagine you are floating at sea in a beautiful blue ocean or something with a cocktail in your hand, looking awesome wearing a lovely bikini and jackie o sunglasses etc? I think thats what they said in my pregnancy hypno cd may have added bit about bikini Dp has had an MRI he says you have the call button so are in control .

EleanorAbernathy · 12/04/2016 20:18

I've had a few MRIs, and find them more boring than anything - although at the last one they had the radio on in the scanner, and when I was in there the announcer said "Coming up - Coldplay!" and I couldn't go anywhere to escape - nearly pressed the emergency button! Grin

Luckily it was a station with long commercial breaks and the scan was done before I had to suffer.

Purpleraindeer · 12/04/2016 20:58

Grin about Coldplay!
Roastie - the NHS target (if you live in england) is that only 1% of people waiting for diagnostic tests should wait for longer than 6wks. Not all hospitals meet this, but gives you an idea that it shouldn't be long to wait....

Friday fight 2 tonight. My thoughts whilst doing it were 'omg this is hard', 'how long can a minute possibly be?', 'when will this be over, I'm never doing this again'... Followed 5 mins after finishing by 'wow, I feel great now. Must do it again soon'.

I realised this was my exact pattern of thoughts during and after labour! So - Shaun t is like having a baby! Wink

RoastieToastieReastie · 12/04/2016 21:05

Thanks for the MRI reassurances. I think last time I had no idea how close the machine would be to my head. It moved me into the hole and the top of the machine was about five cm from my eyes (or it felt like it) and because I wasn't expecting it it really freaked me out. At least this time I'll be expecting it so hopefully it'll be better. Also last time I was allowed to bring a cd for them to play whilst I was in there via headphones and I chose an audiobook thinking it would keep me distracted but actually I could barely hear it over the machine noise (although just the mention of the number one ladies detective agency still makes me panic a little) so this time I will bring a music cd to calm me down. I also think I will just keep my eyes closed the whole time so I don't realise h ow close I am to the top of the machine and hope I will be in blissful ignorance.

Day off tomorrow but debating doubling up on Thursday so I can get some errands done after work on Friday in place of a workout.

caitlinohara · 12/04/2016 21:19

Hi everyone, I'm back! Firstly, well done to Boobz, awesome job! Sorry you didn't enjoy the actual day so much though.

Sorry to hear you're still having problems Roastie and I hope you don't have to wait too long for your scan.

Eleanor I have just wasted 10 minutes of my life trying to find those leggings the internet and then decided it would be MUCH quicker to just ask you where you got them, so please tell!

All a bit rubbish on the workout front here. Got Thinner Leaner Stronger book on purple's recommendation and it is really good - but so complicated! And one of those where the author keeps insisting that it's all so 'simple' so that you're left wondering if it's just you. It's mostly free weights with a barbell or heavy dumbbells and I just can't get my form right, especially for things like a barbell squat or deadlift, and I'm worried about injuring myself all the time, so feeling a bit disheartened. I am going to go back to my original plan of P90X3 Mass rotation in the mornings and then persevere with the weightlifting in the evenings when hopefully dh can watch me and make sure I'm not doing anything too dangerous!

caitlinohara · 12/04/2016 21:42

Actually, forget that, I'm returning my copy of P90X3 and going with Boobz's original suggestion of P90X. Having just seen Boobz's picture, I'm not going to argue with those abs. Envy

EleanorAbernathy · 13/04/2016 06:12

Caitlin - they're from Tikiboo ( can't link as on phone) they come in capris like mine or full length, lots of other colours and prints too! Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 13/04/2016 07:34

wow there are loads of designs on there - would raise your spirits just putting the leggings on never mind exercising!

onlywhenyouleave · 13/04/2016 09:23

Love all those leggings but can't justify the cost for working out at home Sad

yumyumpoppycat · 13/04/2016 09:52

I wonder if ebay do knockoff versions, prob wouldnt have all the tech but might be ok for home use? There are some on amazon but one size fits all Hmm leggings

caitlinohara · 13/04/2016 10:18

Omg. That's just the motivation I need. Thanks Eleanor

onlywhenyouleave · 13/04/2016 12:50

Ooh spooky coincidence - just reading Glamour and in the ads the back, there is an advert for Tikiboo with 15% off. If anyone wants it, let me know Smile

caitlinohara · 13/04/2016 13:24

Dammit. Already ordered. That'll teach me to impulse buy. Angry

lavenderhoney · 13/04/2016 20:13

Well done on the marathon boobz:) I've been off for a bit as I have some suspicious red blotches on my shin and ankle. I'm due a blood test.

I have done quite a bit of walking and hopefully start again end of this week.

RoastieToastieReastie · 13/04/2016 20:46

I've got some workout gear from tkmaxx and they can have some jazzy bits if you keep an eye out and quite cheap.

Lavender oh dear, I hope you get it all sorted quickly.

Well, I was going to have a day off today in exchange for a double uo workout tomorrow but ended out forcing myself to workout today (after work on my first week back after holiday so I'm a bit tired ) so resistance 1 done and all set for doing cardio 3 for th first time tomorrow.

Purpleraindeer · 13/04/2016 21:04

Good to see you lavender. Hope the blotches are ok.

Caitlin - I don't blame you for being a bit nervous re the weights. As I read it I think they're supposed to be so heavy you can only do 4-6 reps so definitely enough to do damage if your form is wrong. I hope you can stick with it and it gets easier as the book really made sense and I'd like to see (through you!) whether it works.

Total synergistics tonight for me. I've noticed in the last 3 weeks I'm getting really breathless when I shouldn't be so am finding workouts knackering. DH thinks it's maybe a mild chest infection but I don't feel ill? Anyway - will try to see doc. Obv it will take weeks to get an appt and by that time it will get better on its own....

caitlinohara · 13/04/2016 21:50

Oh dear, seems like we all have ailments at the moment. I have done something weird to the back of my neck on one side - is it your traps?? Dunno, but it hurts. Purple I am totally convinced by the thinking behind Thinner Leaner Stronger and apart from the irritating attempts to get you to buy his supplements I like what he says, but for a beginner I'm finding the learning curve too steep, especially because like you say there is the very real possibility of serious injury! I think if I had someone to teach me the form and watch me a few times I would be fine, but I don't know anyone experienced enough. Might have to park it for now, at least as a regular routine. P90X arrives tomorrow and the 90 day thing means I have just enough time to complete it in full before my holiday, so I think I will actually try to stick to the calendar for this one!

Lavender hope you are ok, no idea what that could be so hope it is something straightforward and easily fixed!

yumyumpoppycat · 13/04/2016 23:08

Oh hope your ok purple, yes do get to doc soon.

Lavendar hope your ok too, what dothey suspect it is? I had red splotches on my lower legs one year recently and looked fungal but antibiotic creams didn't work, but cleared up with eczema steroid cream - actually prob a coincidence but I got mine when properly low carbing, ketosis can cause a rash but usually on chest.

Hope you like p90x caitlin.

I didn't workout today as feeling slightly poorly so feel REALLY pathetic now. Lol @ roasties tiny violin, well done on getting that workout in.

{Scurries off thread in shame}

RoastieToastieReastie · 14/04/2016 09:30

I'm interested in this thinner leaner stronger, sounds interesting (although also sounds confusing).

Well, just done cardio 3 and yumy I have to say I think I enjoyed it far more than resistance 3.

Also, I finally got a new battery for my polar heart rate monitor. For months I've just been using a Fitbit to record calories and heart rate but convinced the heart rate bit was inaccurate. Today I did the workout using my chest strap hr monitor thingy abdfitbit at the same time. Interesting results.

In 22 hc cardio 3 my fit bit recorded: Average hr 106 calories burnt 139
With my polar hr monitor (more accurate): average hr 146 calories 204

That's quite a difference! Think I might give up on my Fitbit Confused . It's only a few months old so I may be able to sell it I guess. It's good for steps....

Sorry if that stat post is really dull to everyone. I find this intensely interesting Blush .

caitlinohara · 14/04/2016 11:38

Roastie i got it off Amazon for about a tenner on Purple's advice and honestly it does make a lot of sense, and as a cardio-hater it was music to my ears to have someone say actually, you really don't need to do that much cardio! The only thing is that it does assume that you are a gym-goer and although it is possible to do it from home, you would need somewhere to have a weights bench, squat rack, dumbbells AND barbell and a pull up bar at the very least (and potentially lots of other bits and pieces like dip bars, ab roller etc). I got the feeling it was aimed at people who have been going to the gym but don't know what to do when they get there.

I think Body Beast is the probably the closest Beachbody workout to the Thinner Leaner Stronger approach and I will probably work towards that.

Eleanor my Tikiboo leggings arrived! The look of horror on dh's face was something to behold. Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 14/04/2016 12:19

Caitlin I d got body beast on price alert on Amazon, I'm waiting for it to dip in price and then get it :) I've got Dumbbells, a barbell, and chin up bar at home already (no idea what a squat rack is and definitely no space for a bench)

caitlinohara · 14/04/2016 13:45

I didn't know you could do that Roastie ! Squat rack is basically 2 upright stands for barbell to sit in so that you can lift it off on to your shoulders to do squats rather than trying to hoist it on there from the ground or lower from above your head (dangerous). Bench is pretty essential for presses and flies. I've a feeling you might need one for Body Beast as well (god that name is ridiculous) but you could maybe use a swiss ball instead (cheaper but would probably actually take up more space than a bench!!) I really like the look of it, even though it is absurdly sexist and cheesy! I'm tempted to order it just to compare it with P90X.

RoastieToastieReastie · 14/04/2016 14:13

I've got a Swiss ball! On the pump DVDs they use a step (like step aerobics) to do some of the moves, so maybe that could work instead of a bench). For amazon price alerts go to camelcamelcamel (google it) and search what you'd like to buy and it will show you how the price has changed over the previous months and tell you the lowest and highest selling price so you can see if you're getting a good deal or not. You can then put in a price you'd like to buy an item for once the price dips and it will email you as soon as said item reaches your set price or lower. It's fab for things that you aren't desperate for urgently. I did it for my Fitbit to get it when the price suddenly dipped.
