It was maki rolls. Yum. But not a delicious low cal treat which is Sad.

Mmx tonight. I can see myself in the living room mirror when I work out. I could see some actual abs when I was doing it. Sadly the second I stopped they disappeared. Boo.

Really busy few days coming up so not sure quite when I can squeeze in work outs. I'll come on here for motivation so post your workouts to make me feel bad Smile

Purpleraindeer · 08/04/2016 06:16

I managed to squeeze in max out power last night. I was feeling the effects of 3 hard work outs in a row I can tell you. This morning my arms and back are really sore. Boobz- hope the carb loading goes ok today

onlywhenyouleave · 08/04/2016 11:30

Ooh it is quiet round here!

Boobz hope you are carb-loading to your hearts content Wink

Purple yay for managing to work out this morning.

I am still progressing with my 5.15am workouts - it feels like me and Shaun T are in our own little world at that time Grin I did Abs Intervals this morning and think I have worked my hip flexors too much as they are both really sore already (and DOMS don't normally hit until later in the day/the next day).

I thought I was doing well and I am trying to watch my eating but put on a dress for work today that I have worn several times and am sure it was ok - was wandering round Sainsburys this morning before work, looked down and realised the dress was clinging in a really unflattering way that makes me look 6 months pregnant Shock Couldn't go home and get changed so am sitting down a lot and breathing in a lot...I am due my period any day now so I am going to assume it is just pre-menstrual bloating but not good for my confidence Sad

Purpleraindeer · 08/04/2016 17:41

Oh that's disheartening only - it's horrible feeling uncomfortable all day. I have a pair of trousers like that. I've put them to the back of the cupboard! I wonder if your shape has changed with the exercise which has made the dress fit differently?

5.15 work outs are bloody impressive though. I'm so impressed you're doing it. And it's been longer than 3 weeks so it's now a habit. Smile well done!

A weekend of overeating and cake beckons for me. We have visitors and a bday.

RoastieToastieReastie · 08/04/2016 19:04

Only sometimes when I look down at my clothes it looks worse than how it does in a mirror iykwim, so it may not have been nearly as bad as you think.

Boobz hope the carb loading is starting well. Shall be thinking of you tomorrow, let us know your time and how it goes. Good luck.

Purple I am most impressed by the visible abs whilst working out.

Hc22 resistance 2 today and cardio 2 and abs 2 yesterday so all on track to finishing week 3. Onwards to week 4 start.

In bad news, I went to the physio again about my arm/neck issue and she says I need an MRI, which will take ages on NHS but I can't afford private (which is £750 Shock ) as apparently the treatment she's been doing isn't having enough effect so she wants to see what's going on.

yumyumpoppycat · 09/04/2016 15:52

Good luck with marathon Boobz, v exciting Star

Only - total respect that your 5.15 starts are becoming a habit. Don't let your dress get you down - I defo have things in my wardrobe that I can only wear for one or two weeks of the month, period bloating sucks big time.

Roastie, hope you can get the scan soon Flowers

Purple hope you are enjoying your weekend, sounds fun.

We have been away this week, were fairly active so bit of damage limitation but still gained over 2lbs and today I have been really awful snacking and lounging around reading, hope i can get back on it tomorrow. More positively we went bowling and I had a couple of strikes so think lifting weights has helped my technique Grin I also didn't feel too self conscious in my swimming cossie so hard work is paying off. .. so long as I can get back into the routine.

Boobz · 09/04/2016 17:23

Thanks all. Pizza and pasta tonight (home made by DH - yum). Think I am ready! Need to do final bit of prep including mapping out where my nanny and the kids will stand to cheer us on in the crowds.

Might try this too:

RoastieToastieReastie · 09/04/2016 17:37

Do it boobz, lead the marathon!!

onlywhenyouleave · 09/04/2016 18:08

Thanks for the support everyone - the 5.15 starts have become a habit but kids are off school for the next fortnight and I am not at work next week so I won't be doing any 5.15 starts this week Wink will still exercise, just at a more reasonable time Grin

boobz good luck tomorrow, am sure you will smash it! Can't wait to hear all about it Smile

roastie hope your shoulder heals soon and the physio works.

Hi to everyone else, hope you are all having a good weekend Smile

Purpleraindeer · 09/04/2016 18:34

Just a quick check in to say best of luck boobz!! DIG DEEPER!!!

Woo hoo!

And post tomorrow with a full account of how it went! Smile

Boobz · 10/04/2016 22:57

Long day - just got in from celebratory dinner - will update more tomorrow... but...

3:50:36.

Which is fine by me as wanted below 4 hours but would have REALLY liked 3:45 so a bit off that... not helped by my Garmin battery packing up at 40km!!

Knackered now - off to bed!

EleanorAbernathy · 11/04/2016 00:33

Boobz - that is an amazing time! (Both my halves were over 2 hours and no WAY could I have even remotely thought about doing the same thing all over again after I'd finished either!)

Seriously impressed here! Star

onlywhenyouleave · 11/04/2016 06:54

boobzmassive congrats Grin that is an amazing time!

Purpleraindeer · 11/04/2016 07:33

Congratulations boobz! Bloody good time. Star I hope you feel ok (ish) today.

I can report absolutely no exercise since Thursday. Blush. But in fairness I have had a very social weekend. Need to work out tonight, not least because my hair needs a wash!

Sorry to hear about your shoulder roastie. Did the physio give you some advice about what you can/can't do until the MRI?

RoastieToastieReastie · 11/04/2016 08:00

Boobz you are a machine!!! Well done.

Did resistance 3 hc22 yesterday for first time and that was tough (I feel very unfit now). Yumy you're in for hard work a treat!

Purple she's given me various stretches over previous months which I diligently do but alas they make no difference to the injury so she's told me not to bother! I've got a stretch to do in workouts if it gets too much though and I have to modify alot :(

yumyumpoppycat · 11/04/2016 15:09

Amazing Boobz!!!!

Purple Grin my hair washing schedule is an important aspect of exercise planning!

Looking forward to catching up Roastie not today though

Purpleraindeer · 11/04/2016 20:43

Got a hair wash in. And a work out Grin
Now I realised I did the wrong one and did max out power again rather than Friday fight 2. Oops. Now I'll have to do Friday fight 2 with the extra handicap of knackered shoulders from push ups.
Am feeling pleased though as I can finally do push ups Shaun t style with my elbows tucked into my ribs. Yay!
Roastie does your physio say rest could help? There are lots of work outs where you don't do much shoulders - I rested my shoulder for 2 weeks but still worked out and it made a big difference.

RoastieToastieReastie · 11/04/2016 20:48

See I wash my hair every day so workouts for hair washing aren't really a consideration maybe I should plan it that way though

Purple I was on workout rest (well, rest from anything shoulder related so I did some jogging and cardio work not involving shoulders) which physio ok'ed as giving my shoulders a rest but it didn't hugely help anything so I'm back on it now allbeit modifying. It's so frustrating, nothing is ever simple with me! They think it could be due to the fact I have serve bruxism and the nerve issue stems from the neck and it may all be related. It's a potential working hypothesis anyway.

Boobz · 11/04/2016 21:24

Hello all - thank you for all the congrats.

So a mixed bag for me. I found the organisation left a lot to be desired, but then I have a bit of a downer on Italian organisation so maybe I am prejudiced (loos, blocked exits at the end of the race, running out of water for the later finishers... my friend who came in at 5:30 crossed the line to be told they had run out of water - sorry - in 30 degree heat!)

And then my garmin ran out of battery at 40km despite being fully charged over night... I think it's just so old now that the battery life has depleted, but as I have never run for longer than 3 hours before, it had always lasted... so that is a lesson learnt! New garmin for my birthday...

And then finally, I have to say I just didn't really like running in the actual marathon! Not only did my arse cheeks really hurt from about 15m (which they have never done before) but I also just wasn't able to zone out because of all the runners, hubbub and general marathony-ness. Usually I stick on my music and go into a bit of a meditative state, thinking about work, people, life, ambition etc., - anything but actually running! But all I could think about yesterday was running - too fast/too slow/clipping people's heels, too hot/too cold etc etc. Just didn't get into a rhythm at all, and around the 21m mark, I was not having a good time - I was wishing it was over.

Which really has surprised me as I have loved all my long training runs. Maybe I am just not made for racing?

Having said all of that, I am happy with my time, didn't walk, and don't feel too sore today (and I was only 9 mins behind DH)! I'm glad I did it, but am not gagging to do another one, as it really wasn't the pinnacle I was expecting...

My friend who did it with me has done 2 others: London and Brighton, and she said they were MUCH more fun - better atmosphere, support, organisation etc., so maybe I should give another one a shot... Berlin perhaps? I think I would like the German efficiency...

I did the first 13.1m in 1:43 so was flying at the beginning but just couldn't keep that pace up... need to learn how to not get so slow from 20m onwards.

Which has been your favourite mara Purple?

EleanorAbernathy · 12/04/2016 00:41

I wonder if I could do a marathon? I don't think I actually WANT to but I'd love to be able to say that I have - a bit of a bucket list type thing I suppose! I'm honestly not sure if my legs would keep going that far though, furthest I've ever ran is 14 miles which I enjoyed but it hurt!

I had planned to do an Insanity today, but am in the injury corner with Roastie. Think I must have slept funny on my neck and shoulder, it's something that happens more often than I'd like so have been frantically stretching, massaging and taking anti-inflammatories all day in the hope it will be less hurty tomorrow! I have new workout gear I need to break in - RAINBOW LEOPARD PRINT LEGGINGS!!

Beachbody Thread 3 (Insanity, T25 etc)
Purpleraindeer · 12/04/2016 06:33

I love your leggings Eleanor! I need to get radical with my kit but end up just buying sensible colours. Also my house in the summer is far too hot for leggings. I'm more shorts/crop top/pray no-one comes to the door whilst I'm working out!!

Boobz that's sad you didn't enjoy the experience. I really enjoyed running with others but you're right it stops your rhythm. A slightly smaller mara is better for that as you have more space, but also less support which for me is a big loss. My fave was London as it is super well organised and the crowds just make you feel great even when you feel shit. My DH did Berlin and he didn't like it - he found it too hot, and also ran 2miles behind someone who had done a poo down their leg and not stopped running! Urgh.

Sounds like you just need to do more long runs to stop the negative split and slow down at 20miles. You must have set a half mara pb though? 1.43 is awesome!!

Hope the legs are ok today. Isn't it normally day 2 that's the problem? Was for me anyway.

yumyumpoppycat · 12/04/2016 10:28

Great leggings eleanor!!

Resistance 2 done today Roastie - I didn't love it but only because I found burpees holding onto weights too tricky! I have some decent hexagon weights but they are 6kg (dps really) each so too heavy and the roundy ones and kettlebells feel unstable - I ended up doing burpees with a squaty weight lift inbetween instead - not v elegant!!

Boobz how are you adjusting - I was wondering if you would have to take time off work to recover?

Purple you have done the london marathon - marathon is defo bucket list actually 5k is more likely to be on on my bucket list!, I have done a sky dive in new zealand but was strapped onto someone so not really too hard Grin

EleanorAbernathy · 12/04/2016 13:16

My shoulder isn't too bad today so think I'll do an Insanity - was thinking one of the first two from Month 2 :)

onlywhenyouleave · 12/04/2016 13:42

Love the leggings - would love to wear something like that but fear it would look hideous on my size 16 arse Blush although if I am working out at home, not sure why it matters Grin

Managed t25 pyramid today - had to really force myself to do it but glad I did Smile

My workout mat has now been taken over by a wrestling tournament (although it looks more like an action figure orgy Grin) which I have been told by the tournament organiser DS2 is going on until tomorrow night... Kind of limits what I can do tomorrow. Speed 2.0 it is then!

boobz I am with you with running - I have felt disappointed that I never really enjoyed running/races etc. I did them but never looked forward to them, hated most of it whilst doing it - I did like the feeling of achievement afterwards but it never outweighed the lack of enjoyment iyswim. Running is definitely down the list of 'exercise that I enjoy' Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 12/04/2016 13:58

Go for it only Grin I think we should only imagine each other working out at home in glamorous gear pos!
