New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

I didn't feel like I had enough energy for tony so I did kettlebell abs which is shorter and not much cardio, mainly sit ups holding a bell, some fly type things and some planks....I found it a lot harder than usual so think when the 8 weeks are up I am going to try a 5:2 800 cal thing.

Purple I don't think I could ever do a whole schedule of max 30 so kudos to you it is so intense but fitting in the occasional weekly workout is defo something I plan to do.

lavenderhoney · 12/03/2016 18:14

Hello everyone:) I'm glad I found you all!

I used to be a keen runner but due to time constraints and no one to watch the dc, I was told about t25 and insanity. I have them both ( thank you eBay) and I've done t25 beta and a bit of alpha before personal life taking over.

But this week I plan to start again and do insanity when I get up before the DC and t25 in the afternoon before pick up. I really struggle to do anything except Pilates at night.

Will not running just doing the DVDs get the same fast results? I used to rely heavily on running to keep slim and fit.

RoastieToastieReastie · 12/03/2016 19:26

I've never done a lot of running lavender but I've found I'm fitter using the DVDs than when I went to gym classes the same number of times a week. I find the workouts so well planned and arranged and really work you hard if you put your effort into it.

EleanorAbernathy · 12/03/2016 22:31

Lavender do you mean T25 AND Insanity both in the same day? That's hardcore!

Although speaking as someone who's done (and still does as much as possible!) both running and these DVDs, both are equally as good at keeping weight in check, but the DVDs (especially Insanity from the ones I've done!) are slightly better for all over toning - running never gave me nice firm triceps like Insanity did Grin

As an added bonus, I did the whole Insanity program then went for my first run in 2 months and it had somehow made me faster!

EleanorAbernathy · 12/03/2016 23:03

As there have been no objections to seeing me in my bra and pants, here's what the Body Coach did for me - they're slightly different angles as I got DP to take the before pics, and he was at work when I did the after ones so I had to balance the phone and run and pose!

EleanorAbernathy · 12/03/2016 23:06

And I had my arms too high up to see them so here's one from the end of the second month with them in!

lavenderhoney · 13/03/2016 07:13

Eleanor, yes I do!:)

and your pics are awesome - really inspiring.

caitlinohara · 13/03/2016 07:26

Well done Eleanor, amazing results! Your thighs look so strong!! I really need to do some 'before' photos before it's too late.

Did Upper Focus yesterday, next door neighbours were out so was able to do Hulk style roars when lifting Grin

onlywhenyouleave · 13/03/2016 10:37

Morning Smile

eleanor wow, you can really see the difference it has made in those photos. I really want to do it but all the food prep and £££ puts me off Confused

Caitlin I have sent you a PM about the BB videos, have you received it?

lavender can't help about the running. I am an occasional jogger so not for weight loss Grin

I was planning on doing Lower Focus today but think I might be going for a jog with friends instead...

RoastieToastieReastie · 13/03/2016 16:07

Eleanor wow the before and after are amazing, well done you. I have a before and relatively recent on mfp if anyone else is on there?

RoastieToastieReastie · 13/03/2016 16:08

No workout today for me again as I'm feeling rubbish with a cold. Crossing fingers for a gentle workout or some description tomorrow though. Maybe combat or piyo.

Purpleraindeer · 13/03/2016 18:07

Eleanor those before and afters are amazing! You should be an ad for body coach. It shows what a massive impact diet makes. You look so buff! I am very envious. Mind you you worked bloody hard for it. How long did it take?

Welcome lavender. I definitely got fitter and a better body (leaner and more muscle in a good way) from DVDs. It did great things for my running pace too.

Did tbc today. Feeling very happy as I got through all the press ups without my shoulder hurting. Hope it's ok tomorrow too then I'll know it's better. Am going to start my p90x3/max30 hybrid again next week. I will do p90x3 lean and max30 mth 2 and alternate days. Eek!

RoastieToastieReastie · 13/03/2016 19:03

Ohh purple, how do you find p90x3? I've done one and two but not three. Towo I thought was a really well put together workout and felt really good for me with all the core and dynamic stuff, but I found it quite tough as my core is rubbish and had to modify ball stuff and use a chair with the pull ups. How does p99x3 differ? Is there still lots of equipment to go with it? I like tony (not as much as Shaun though) but I find him too chatty, especially in p90x, I just want him to get on with the next move!

yumyumpoppycat · 13/03/2016 22:04

Eleanor you are thin in the first pictures but defo 'lean' in the second ones, a really noticeable difference - wow!

Roastie p90x3 has an option to turn tony off! I like x3, I have p90x but haven't done it so far, I also have insanity asylum but again haven't done it Blush I have a habit of buying these things when they are cheap, clearly this is a strategy that is paying off for me!

My exercise yest seemed to result in weight gain this am so haven't done any today, Eleanor's pics are making me rethink this strategy.

Only how was your run with friends?

Fantastic news about your shoulder purple, looking forward to hearing about your hybrid!

lol @ hulk roars C!

onlywhenyouleave · 14/03/2016 07:19

Morning Beachbodyers Smile

Did go for a run yesterday - only 3.5k as we haven't run for months and we are not great runners anyway Grin then I did T25 Stretch when I got home. I love that DVD! Still need to do Lower Focus to complete week 1 but it is going to have to wait till tomorrow morning.

Mondays are my only opportunity for a gym visit (I don't work on Mondays) so am doing Metafit followed by Pump this morning.

What's everyone else's plans today?

Boobz · 14/03/2016 08:42

Gosh it's got busy in here!

Eleanor those before and after photos are hugely inspiring! I seem to remember you saying that your weight didn't really change but your shape did - how on earth is your weight the same in both pictures - you look much leaner in the second one!

Lavender - I am a runner (intermittently - I have breaks from running) but have been doing Insanity or P90X pretty much solidly since end of 2012 (apart from a week break last for medical reasons but still tried to fit some insanities in around treatment) and tbh I have found that the best combo to get the best physical (aesthetic) results was P90X with about 30km a week running and low-carb diet (and some Bikram Yoga thrown in for good measure) - see before/after photo on my profile. However I am having a bit of a 'mare at the moment - I am training for my first ever marathon and am doing loooooads of km at the moment - last week I ran 65km (34 of those on Saturday for my long run) and I am putting ON weight at the moment which is really pissing me off, despite doing a couple of Insanities a week as well.

Any ideas why Purple? I have googled - it all seems to say because I am compensating burning all these calories by over-eating - and I do feel hungrier but it's not like I am stuffing my face with crisps all day, and I have pretty much stopped drinking alcohol since Jan. I just don't understand how I can run for pretty much 3 hours on Saturday and today I am a bloody kg heavier than Friday! Grrr.

Sorry - mini rant there. So in answer to your question Lavender - I think you will be absolutely fine looking slim and toned doing Insanity only - I did that for nearly 8 months and got down to 50kg and amazing abs/arms, but you do have to put the effort in and watch the diet too. I would kill to be 50kg again - have been trying since August last year but surgery and Christmas and now marathon training are getting in the way - ga! Was 56kg this morning - not happy.

Moan over.

Boobz · 14/03/2016 08:44

But I AM fit. I ran the 20 (actually 21 in the end) miles on Saturday and then went straight into my son's 4th birthday party and was fine - and just ran 6 miles today and did a PB. So I know I am getting fitter, if fatter at the same time!

Boobz · 14/03/2016 08:45

That should have said WEE (small) break, not WEEK break last year...

RoastieToastieReastie · 14/03/2016 14:39

Try weighing yourself in a couple of days time boobz and see if it's evened out, sometimes my weight fluctuates day by day and sometimes when I step up the exercise I can go up as my body seems to keep hold of everything almost as if it's adjusting to the increase in energy expenditure and is worried I'll overdo it. That's very unscientifical but I'm going with it!

Just a super quick cheeky tf 25 minute hiit this morning as DD is home ill and in still miserable with cold.

EleanorAbernathy · 14/03/2016 19:58

I've just checked my measurements from the Body Coach - I was actually half a kilo HEAVIER at the end! I lost a bit of weight in the first month, but the weight training didn't start until the 2nd month and that's when I started gaining weight, so must have all been muscle! I was also eating between 1700 - 2000 calories a day (I put a few days into MFP to check cos it felt like loads) so I think it has actually sorted my crap metabolism out. It's just about eating the right stuff at the right time.
Purple it's meant to take 90 days but it took me 4 months, as Christmas was in the middle and I'm addicted to Baileys, so I did Month 3 twice!

I don't think I'll be able to fit in Max:30 every day this week, but will try and do some sort of workout - I've just done Sweat Intervals and the 10 minute ab workout (first time I've tried that one - I felt really daft doint that "ab attack" move where you're sort of in the C sit position having what feels like a half-arsed cat fight!). I didn't feel completely unfit! Grin

Boobz · 15/03/2016 08:50

Totally amazed you weighed more Eleanor! Madness.

Still heavier Roastie. Maybe like Eleanor I am weighing the same/more but my shape is changing? Doesn't feel like it tbh - can't fit into my skinny skinny jeans, and def have a bit of a muffin top over my work out shorts.

And already my promise to myself to be super strict this week has fallen off the wagon - had 2 digestive biscuits yesterday, as well as some marmite on toast (on top of my normal meals). Gah - my mum would "you must have worms!" cos I am hungry all the time. This never happened when I was just doing Insanity on its own - it was dead easy to stick to the diet when I wasn't running. I think it really kicked in when I started to get to the training runs which were 14 miles plus... so the last 4 weeks or so... I was ok before that.

So am going to try not to beat myself up about not being perfect yesterday (I did run 6 miles very fast, for me at least!) and did Ab ripper X and then another (short) freelitics work out with DH in the evening, and had no booze with supper, so am going to let the digestives go! Today is a new day! Have just done Month 2 Insanity workout, and had healthy breakfast so, so far so good. Was supposed to do a 10 mile run but DH nabbed my garmin for fartleks.

Yum - I see you said your exercise is also increasing your weight gain and you are going to rethink you strategy - can you let me know what that strat is?

Purple is your hybrid only a week or a month? Am really looking forward to finishing this bloody marathon so I can start P90X again properly and supplement with some light running, like I did before, as I know I can get good results with that!

Boobz · 15/03/2016 08:54

Jackster - how is the home schooling going? And the exercise?!

yumyumpoppycat · 15/03/2016 19:06

Boobz I am really hoping to get to 149 lbs on Thu so embarrassingly my strategy is not to exercise until then! I haven't been in the 140s since 2010 at my heaviest I. Then I am eating healthily (low carb med) and exercising for 5 days and will see where I am.

There was some study showing some women gain weight exercising, well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/11/12/exercising-but-gaining-weight/?_r=0 but that the benefits of exercise outweight this. A more likely reason for you given you have previously lost weight exercising is water retention to give you glycogen when running exercise.about.com/od/weightloss/f/gainingweight.htm.

yumyumpoppycat · 15/03/2016 19:09

Actually I seem to be losing weight from my boobs and legs rather than waist so I am abit worried I am losing muscle not fat so not sure if its even worth concentrating on scales ... but I just really want that target finally reached on MFP Blush

Purpleraindeer · 15/03/2016 21:49

Woohoo poppy! That's awesome. How much weight have you lost? Star

I was going to say the same thing re glycogen/weight gain. I also read an article in the paper a few weeks ago which referred to a study where they said that hiit was an appetite suppressant but slower running was the opposite. Boobz your running is going so well you don't want to risk changing your diet too much then it impacting the last few weeks of training. There's plenty of time to go hardcore zone/p90x when you've got your Mara pb!

Did my first mth 2 max30 tonight - max out cardio. Wasn't as bad as I had thought. Last circuit was a struggle tho and I couldn't keep pace with them. Ah well. Onwards and upwards. I think I will do p90x3 mass so I don't do too much cardio. Means it's total synergistics tomorrow. I love that one. My plan is just to alternate the p90x3 and max30 schedule until I either finish mth 2 or get bored and do something else - whichever comes sooner!
