New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

Eleanor forgive me if I am wrong but was it you who signed up for the Body Coach programme? If so, how was it? Did it work and was it worth the money?

caitlinohara · 10/03/2016 11:21

Hello onlywhenyouleave and welcome back! I started T25 again recently after a long break and it was torture at first but I'm a few weeks in now and starting to feel stronger. Very impressed with your early starts! I used to do that as well but found that I was shattered by lunchtime and it just affected the rest of my day too much. I work from home though so I can squeeze it in at lunchtime or thereabouts. TBC NEVER gets any easier in my opinion. I did it solidly for 10 days once and I swear by the end of it it got no better! I really must do it today though, I meant to do it yesterday but I bottled it and did Upper Focus with heavy weights instead and now my arms are killing me!

I quite like the sound of Tony Horton's new 22 Min Hard Corps but it's not out yet. Trailer looks really cheesy though...

Boobz · 10/03/2016 12:41

Hi Only! I remember you, pre name change too. Welcome back. 5:15am is hardcore, but like you, I have to exercise in the mornings to get it done - am rubbish in the evenings.

Having said that I did a 9 mile run yesterday, followed by a Month 1 insanity in the evening, AND ab ripper X. I was inspired by DH who had done Fartleks (sp?) in the AM and then his Freelitics in the PM so didn't want to be outdone. TBH Purple I don't really know what it is - it's an online workout schedule which gets harder month by month - I think he filled in some qs and then it spat out a schedule for him - don't think it was that personalised, but then having said that, today I saw him chatting to someone online about last night's work out, but not sure if that was a forum or a specific online coach - I just found it open on his FB messenger... will ask him tonight what he's up to! I know it is getting hard now for him - this morning's work out took him 69 mins and he was DRENCHED in sweat. He has lost loads of weight - am so jealous, I seem to be putting ON weight, despite all my running . I even did a pregnancy test this morning to rule out baby weight!!! (NOT pregnant, thank the lord).

Ran 6 miles and did Ab ripper X this morning... and Insanity 2 tomorrow, rest on Sat as it is DS's birthday party, and then 20 mile run on Sunday (the longest I will do in run up to marathon).

onlywhenyouleave · 10/03/2016 13:30

Thanks for the welcome back messages Smile

Caitlin - no, I don't think TBC ever does get easier. I remember from last time round that I used to dread doing it - particularly on the weeks where you had to do it 3 times. I am thinking of substituting some of those with Rip'T Circuit or the Pyramid workout from Gamma as I love those and actually enjoy working out with weights. Why would you do it 10 days in a row?? A bit masochistic Wink

Boobz how is your recovery going? Clearly from the amount of exercise you are doing, it is going really well Smile I think you had just had surgery last time I posted.

Boobz · 10/03/2016 15:09

It went well - I have a bit more at the end of April just to even out some lumps and bumps from the mastectomy, but the healing process was very straight forward. I started training again about 6 weeks post op at the end of December, and have been mixing up marathon training with Insanity. My fitness is great - I can do all of a Month 2 Insanity without it feeling impossible (but I still get very out of breath!) and am improving my pace for the marathon... had originally hoped to completed it in 4 hours, but now have upped my ambition to 3:45. Only 4 weeks to go on Sunday - eek!

Have eggs for breakfast and sushi for lunch but am still so hungry. What is wrong with me??

Purpleraindeer · 10/03/2016 20:46

Only - welcome back! I was wondering where you were. Good work on the 5am starts. Yes, I've just been randomly posting the same old nonsense about Shaun t/Tony Horton for the whole time you've been away....am doing t25 this week too. Am enjoying it again too. Did dynamic core tonight which I didn't enjoy as much. But my core is definitely more 'dynamic' than it was as it wasn't as bad as before. Except for the horrible bicycle legs/v sit which is still actually impossible! I nailed the tuck jumps tho - that's the max30 paying off. Day off tomorrow. Yay

Caitlin - whoever does tbc every day for 10 days??? That's lunacy! Shock.

Boobz - I'm sure I've read that big mileage makes you hungry as you're doing lots at low heart rate. Might explain it? 3.45 would be an awesome time. Would get you an automatic entry to London if you wanted to do it all over again next year.

Am looking for new work outs so do let me know what this freeletics thing is and Caitlin I've not heard of the new Tony Horton one so let me know when it comes out.

Fullsteamahead · 10/03/2016 21:43

Hi guys, sorry for long absence. Have been crazy busy. Haven't even had a chance to read over last 4 or 5 pages I've missed! I'm still here, have finished alpha. Haven't done anything last week as have been very busy but will be moving onto beta on Monday. Might not be able to do it every day but determined to do at least some. Having had no excersise in the last 7 days I'm already noticing how much worse my leg muscles are getting, doesn't feel good.

Will try my best to read over your chat at the wend.

Love to all. 😘😘

onlywhenyouleave · 10/03/2016 22:06

purple hi Smile I think I have blanked a lot of T25 out of my mind - just remembered the bicycle/v sit ups 😱

DH is also doing T25 but just picked random workouts (mainly Beta and Gamma ones). Anyway, as the TBC DVD was already in, I told him to do that tonight - when I got home his comment was 'are you trying to kill me??' Grin

Bedtime now - got a hot date with Shaun T tomorrow morning Wink

Boobz · 11/03/2016 08:58

Yeah maybe it's all the running which makes me hungry, but there is no point doing all this exercise to counteract with over-eating, so I am going to have to channel my inner-German-fasting techniques I did at the beginning of the year to make sure I can slim down a bit. I only posted a few weeks ago on my fasting thread that I had kept the weight off, but skiing really does seem to have scuppered me, despite that 18 mile run in the mountains!

I did a short 3 mile run as per the schedule today, and am now going to do nothing until the 20 mile run on Sunday. My legs felt a bit heavy, even only doing 3 miles, so am thinking I should totally rest - a mini taper if you like - for the longest run I will do during training.

I didn't know they did automatic entry to London mara because of a time - I thought it was mega competitive and you had to get sponsored a minimum amount?

Hello FullSteam - I keep thinking maybe we will do P90X from start to finish together at some point - I am tempted to do that once the marathon and Toughest is over, so starting on 1st May? That would mean I had done all 90 days before I go back to the UK which I quite like the sound of... have done Insanity about 8 times over now, so really should mix it up.

EleanorAbernathy · 11/03/2016 09:49

My good start to the week was scuppered - woke up on Wednesday feeling awful, and my first thought was "I've got a few hours to make myself feel better so I can do a workout!" Didn't happen - somehow dragged myself to work, then was sick and came back home again. Since then I've not been able to keep any food down - really not how I wanted to lose the extra couple of pounds I put on!
I feel a bit better today, I've managed a coffee and some granola with yoghurt - just have a banging headache now that needs to get lost! Then I'm definitely back on it. It does explain why I was feeling so unfit on Tuesday though if I was coming down with this bug.

Hi only welcome back - yes it was me who did the Body Coach - and it did work! I didn't lose any weight but lost inches and generally toned up all over. I still make the recipes and follow the general principles but have let things slide the last few weeks and had a few takeaways and not exercised. That is about to change.
I'll post my before and after pics if no one minds seeing me in my bra and pants!

Boobz · 11/03/2016 09:53

Oh I love a good before and after photo!

caitlinohara · 11/03/2016 14:14

purple I know, I know, it was when I first started doing T25 and I was so cross that I couldn't do TBC that I thought if I JUST did that for 10 days straight I HAD to nail it... sadly, didn't work. To be fair, they all seem to be struggling. Derek sounds like he is actually dying at one point.

Sorry you're poorly Eleanor and get well soon!

Boobz I have a scary amount of food today, all of it good, but still hungry. In fairness I have done a double today - Lower Focus followed by Ab Intervals Confused Moving house next week so bound to have a few rest days so trying to get ahead while I can!

yumyumpoppycat · 11/03/2016 16:04

Only hooray I was wondering about you but didnt want to be a stalker and PM you we just need sarah and a few others to come back now. Think its really lovely that we can dip in and out of thread and come back when we are back in the zone Grin

Sorry I also have been awol but at least I have been loosing weight I am now 30lb lighter than I was the summer before joining this thread. Thing is the diet of the moment is low in calories time has been short as been busy with work and kids and helping out a friend so no energy to exercise. Actually Only's 5am start and Purples evening exercise are a kick up the backside as it means I know I could find time if I really wanted to so its all excuses really. At the minimum I should fit in some reps of pushups and squats and an occasional HIIT I think?

Fab work on double Caitlin {hifives}

hope you feel better Eleanor Flowers

RoastieToastieReastie · 11/03/2016 17:57

Hello all, I think I have found my spiritual home, I'm a big Bb fan but most people in rl have no idea what I'm on about.

In the past four to five years I've lost over 7 stone and kept it off (so far) and couldn't have done it without my trusty workouts. I've done insanity, t25, p90x, p90x2, insanity asylum (although this one is my nemesis and I've never quite been fit enough to do it fully), turbo fire, piyo, pump, and combat. I tend to mix and match rather than follow the programs and mix it up with going to the gym and runs.

I'm currently recovering from a neck/arm nerve issue which limits what I can do so I'm trying to do a combat, turbo fire, hiit, pump, and piyo workout each week. I don't consider myself particularly fit, I was but I feel much less strong and fit since my injury. Sometimes I really don't want to press play but I always feel better when I do. You guys seem super fit though, but I may need that to motivate me.

Have many of you done insanity max? I'd like to try it but t25 gave me a knee injury two years ago that I still struggle with and I think the speed of the workout was so quick that I need a longer warm up/cool down so the shorter insanity worries me so I'd be interested to have feedback on it.

yumyumpoppycat · 11/03/2016 18:21

Roastie welcome wow that is pretty impressive workout schedule when you have an injury! I would stay away from insanity max 30 tbh if you have knee problems as T25 was fine for me but not insanity max 30, or introduce it very slowly rather than a full week of it. Pos normal insanity would work?

RoastieToastieReastie · 11/03/2016 18:39

Well, it's a very minor injury now (I hope) and more recovering. It's more a case of modifying during workouts rather than not working out now. I did pump and shred this morning :)

Thanks for the insanity feedback yumy, I haven't had any big issues with insanity and my knee and did insanity cardio this week (first insanity workout I've done in months). I have a love hate relationship with insanity. I hate it when I'm doing it but I love how amazing I feel afterwards.

Purpleraindeer · 11/03/2016 20:26

Hi roastie! 7 stone is amazing! You must be so chuffed with yourself. And I bet you are super fit too, but just don't realise. I don't think I'm super fit really but then every so often do a move in a workout that I used to find impossible (oblique knee push ups anyone?) and realise I can do it and am amazed at myself Smile.

I've done max30 as has Eleanor. I love it. It's shorter and more intense than insanity (def fewer breaks) but if you're ok with insanity you'll be ok with max30 too. Am just nerving up to do mth 2 max 30 next week. It is ridiculously knackering but in a good way Grin.

Hope your 20miler goes well on sun boobz. Start slow if you can and speed up at 10miles to do the negative split.

Hi to everyone else.

yumyumpoppycat · 11/03/2016 20:34

Wow i missed the 7 stone part that is fantastic Star actually given you are doing things like turbofire and insanity it prob should be fine, maybe it was a coincidence with T25? I would say T25 is easier on the knees than insanity max 30 though, but maybe that was a coincidence for me too!

Good luck with month 2 Purple.

Right dp and I have agreed no shilly shallying in bed while the kids watch sat am tv we are getting up for breakfast at 7 and I am cvx ing at 8.30!

yumyumpoppycat · 11/03/2016 20:45

Sorry for all the posts, I was googling pump and combat Blush and found a new tony H is coming out!!! www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/22-minute-hard-corps-workout.do

yumyumpoppycat · 11/03/2016 20:47

And he has grown a beard!!

RoastieToastieReastie · 11/03/2016 21:03

I've been looking forward to the new tony Horton workout (I think I initially heard about it late last year via his Fb page) but again the short time is stressing me with potential injuries. I think my issue with t25 is there was a lot of twisting stuff which may have put pressure on my knee, I'm not sure. I saw a physio at the time who said it was a knee issue but it's never resolved and the physio I see now says it's a glute based issue.

I really like the bb les mills pump DVD, and the combat one has grown on me alot, but I think it's now been discontinued by bb, which is a shame. I spent a fortune on buying the barbell though, a bit like when I bought p90x 2 and then realised I needed the pull up bar/medicine ball/Pilates ball.

Does everyone here buy the DVD kits or do on demand?

Purple hope month two goes well.

Yumy make sure you set that alarm for the morning!

onlywhenyouleave · 11/03/2016 22:33

roastie I love Les Mills workouts, I used to do them at the gym but I can't get to the gym now more than once a week. I have signed up to Les Mills on demand (it is £10 a month) - they have pump, combat, balance, jam and grit workouts available plus a couple of exclusive HIIT style. If you enjoy them, might be worth the money?

There is also a way of accessing all the BB workouts for free which I think most of the original people on this thread know about. Can PM you the info if you want Smile

caitlinohara · 12/03/2016 07:25

Yep, that's the one I meant poppycat, it does look a bit naff though... I am torn. Hope you are up and at 'em... I am just waiting for my coffee to kick in and my legs to start working!

What is this about accessing BB workouts? Have I been had??

Purpleraindeer · 12/03/2016 13:00

Hello. Hope you all got your am work outs in. Managed to squeeze in t25 cardio. I though it was the beta one but turned out to be alpha and was relieved it was as I wasn't really feeling it this am.

I think new Tony Horton thing looks great! He is cheesy and I'm now used to it.

I just thought of one disadvantage to max30. All the work outs are really tough which is good, but it means there are no easy days. Mentally this makes it hard to press play each time when you're squeezing it in around other things. I had no problem doing it when was on Mat leave but now I have to do a full day's work before my work out its definitely harder. I find now i need to do it as a hybrid.

RoastieToastieReastie · 12/03/2016 13:16

Only yes please do pm me the details, that would be fab.

Purple that's interesting about max30. I tend to do my own hybrids depending on what I fancy doing or feel like I need to work on so hopefully that wouldn't be an issue for me.
