452.5 still not found any flat miles in Sheffield, 4 more hilly ones from this morning - there is a canal by hotel where I'm staying so may try and follow that tomorrow.

MyBlackCat · 23/03/2016 15:53

Sorry lost 200 miles there

thewavesofthesea · 23/03/2016 16:51

still Thanks for your reply. I've been offered a phased return already when I go back, thank goodness. Sorry to hear things have been hard for you too. I'm seeing the GP again tomorrow, I suspect another 2 week sick note Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 24/03/2016 09:46

4 miles from me and the dogs this morning, felt hard no idea why now it's light and much milder but there're you go! 656.5

emummy · 24/03/2016 12:24

Short easy run in woods for me, testing out my sore foot, all wrapped up in rok tape! Went ok, bit achy now but not too bad so fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about your sore foot emummy - I have one too, to go with my sore shoulder.

I managed a short 3 miles yesterday in between lots of boring chores. Resting today, and will try a longer run tomorrow.

MyBlack you are making me want to weep Grin. There are no hills of any note where I live. The Sheffield half is going to kill me isn't it Grin

10.2 to add.
Then I foam rolled. Which was much worse than the run

MyBlackCat · 25/03/2016 08:08

Good news fifty I've found some flat in Sheffield Smile bad news is that I don't think the half marathon route will take in the canal towpath Shock

3.6 early morning miles in the sunshine.

There's a strange glowing orb in the sky!! Made my run quite warm! Big dog was panting like mad by the time we got home. Went on my own with dogs as felt rough first thing so didn't get up in time for canicross club run 680.8

KeyserSophie · 25/03/2016 13:56

Adding 5 from gym commute. Also did vomit-making metcon thing.

Rest of the day went downhill with a trip to Zootopia and a lunch out with my mum at which both DC were utterly feral- does anyone else have this? - when your parents are around, your children are basically an utter disgrace??

Too much wine tonight to try to block it out.

5 mile run, thought could run while kids cycled and dog trotted obediently along. So, DS keeps veering to the left, ended up in a hedge and a ditch, dd1 got grit in her eye, dog had to be dragged out of stinking muddy ditch where she was eating discarded pasta. So I finished covered in mud, with 2 new scrapes from bike pedals and no sense of humour. Tomorrow I'm going alone!

Will join you in that wine keyser!

KeyserSophie · 26/03/2016 09:59

Cheers emummy Your story makes me feel slightly better. When I see endless FB posts about fun and smiley family runs/ hikes I think I must be the only one for whom it would end in a shouty whingefest.

Gorgeous day in HK today- 14 degrees and clear skies. Got out for 17k of hills and chills, which is approx 10.5 miles so

3.1 parkrun. No pb but was 4th lady usual time would have seen me second. only had four hours sleep and a stomach upset so not too annoyed!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/03/2016 12:48

parkrun plus travel there and back from me and a pbpb of 27mins 708.4

MyBlackCat · 26/03/2016 16:45

Parkrun plus the run too and from. It was the hardest parkrun I have done - very undulating and not helped with the two mile uphill run there.

Hope you feel better soon LastQ and congrats on your pbpb Cinners
No racing for me this weekend, 41 miles to add since Tuesday (weather has been too nice not to run!)

familygermsareok · 26/03/2016 18:05

Hi everyone, have enjoyed reading thread and catching up, congrats to all the racers, some brilliant results Smile . I'm not going to name check as will take too much space, but lovely to read about you all.
I have been laid low with really horrible virus for a couple of weeks at beginning of month, have been back running a bit again now and Achilles seems to have benefited from extra rest so hopefully can start building up distances again now. Have had to pull out of my regular local HM in 3 weeks though, no chance I'll be fit for that Sad

thewave I originally started running mostly for mental health reasons and it helped me immensely. It still does!

emummy that sounds like my attempts at family outings. Running with DC1 (13) was great but when I needed to take DC2 (10) along he doesn't like running so he and I cycled. I still don't know how he managed it but he somehow came right off his bike on a straight road twice ( he is used to cycling, we do it loads!) . He then refused to get back on and sat miserably on side while DC1 refused to run on or back himself (he knows the route, had done it with me several times before). Both DCs were shouting at each other, a car stopped and kind couple offered help but I didn't want to abandon 2 bikes and nobody was injured ( except pride!) . I have never attempted it again since Grin

29 miles to add over last 2 weeks

Such a relief to read that mine are not the only children in MNland who ever bring shame upon their parents. There are 4 years between my two, the younger one is uber competitive and wants to beat his brother at everything despite not having the height/weight /strength yet - now I think about it this seems to have been going for all of his 14 years on earth Grin. I have been known to abandon them and DH on family walks and leave them to it because I can't be done with the constant "play" fighting/shoving/rugby tackling Grin Whoever said boys are like dogs wasn't wrong.

I ran 9.2 miles today, but in 2.3/1.1.5 mile bursts - one of my friends was doing her last long training run for the London marathon by adding another 18 laps on to our 2.5 lap parkrun. So another friend and I volunteered at parkrun and then tag teamed running with her so she had company all the way.

Congratulations Cinners on your pbpb Star

Anglaise you are a MACHINE Grin

Well done lastqueen and BlackCat on your tourism Smile

BlackCat after your Sheffield posts this week I have gathered up the courage to look at the HM course profile. Only the first 5.25 miles are uphill Grin

thewavesofthesea · 26/03/2016 21:59

Park run this morning, 3.1 miles. Was a tourist this morning! Time wasn't great, but course much hillier then the one I normally do. Enjoyed it too!! I am now getting to a point where I look forward to running. I think I have officially caught The Running Bug.

Felt like I could have continued for another km or two after the 5 this morning, so I might try that soon.

795.8

MyBlackCat · 26/03/2016 22:33

fifty that looks a tough first 5 miles, the hill to parkrun today had 550ft elevation over 2 miles, it looks like you'll have nearly double that over 5 miles - rather you than me Shock at least the second half is all downhill Grin good luck.

FiftyNineOhEight · 27/03/2016 11:15

I know BlackCat. What on earth was I thinking? It seemed like a good idea at the time especially as it is flat as a pancake where I live Grin

I have had a sore foot for the last week so am busy RICE-ing.

emummy · 27/03/2016 11:40

Lovely sunny morning here, got nice easy run done, good elevation and sore foot feels ok ish. Only problem was dog getting attacked, same dog as last time, very cross. Will investigate things with dog warden tomorrow.
FiftyNine hope your foot recovers soon.
