oh! :o
maybe do a list of the pro's and cons, weigh them up and decide?

stilllearnin · 24/09/2015 10:23

Hmm if your feet are very sore is it possible that you will do more harm than good. Could you pull out and enter something similar in a few months. Take it as a lesson that it's tempting to over stretch yourself but results cannot be guaranteed?! Smile

A slowish 2.5 from me this morning. Getting back in the habit. Be back to total up as cannot go back on this phone!

stilllearnin · 24/09/2015 10:28

1110.5

Loueytb3 · 24/09/2015 11:09

11.5 miles from me yesterday. Today is a rest day before tomorrow's epic long run. Still can't shift the phlegm (any tips??!)

Anglaise No, DH is not a runner. To be fair to him, he had a injury to a tendon in his foot which has meant two operations in the last three years and eventually the tendon was removed. This means there are quite a number of sports he is not allowed to do, and lots of running is one of them.

cinnamon in relation to the swimming, its not just that, but also that DS1 goes to a SN youth club on sunday morning so usually one of us takes him swimming and then to the youth club and the other one takes the other two swimming. So if I'm doing a race, then DH has to do the lot and it would mean DS1 missing part of the youth club as he wouldn't get there in time. Also, this comes on top of him already dealing with the weekend I'm doing Abingdon and the weekend before I'm in Rome for work so he has to do that as well.

The only possible angle I can think of to get him to agree is that I will do the lot one week so that he gets a lie-in.

Halle are you on a mission to do races with a hangover Grin

Dingle how far is the shine walk? Walking on a treadmill is a lot different to walking on a road. A change in terrain may make the difference? Any chance you can do a bit of walking outside before Saturday to see how you feel?

susanne ouch. Hope the PITA goes soon. I'm pretty sure that hill intervals would do that to anyone though...

a nice round 1122

custardcreamdreams · 24/09/2015 12:23

Sounds like a good idea Louey, bit of bartering.

Dingle what's the terrain for the walk going to be like? Up hills or pretty level streets? I wear cushioned 'softsole' insoles in my walking trainers and it makes them so comfortable. Are your feet still sore or was it just immediately after? Do you do a lot of walking shorter distances normally?

KeyserSophie · 24/09/2015 14:19

Hi all. Just a quick 7 miler from me to make 1129. Bit of a crap week so far (this is my first run). Done some cross training and strength work but somehow the running hasn't happened. Aiming to get out tomorrow morning so will have more to add then.

HalleLouja · 24/09/2015 14:49

Louey that would be a no. My cousin's wedding has been organised last minute. Am hoping to get a place in Standalone 10k as someone might be happy to transfer. That would be a less hungover run. Plus when I booked St N's I was like oh its November that is miles away I won't have anything on.... Whoops....

8.8 miles makes 1137.8. That was a club interval session plus a much easier session today.

suzannecaravan · 24/09/2015 15:16

10.4 from me

= 1148.2

I ran at a steady comfortable pace and enjoyed the sunshine and the breeze, pita wasnt too much of a pita

I may have been over enthusiastic with the intervals:o

I couldn't run with a hangover!

HalleLouja · 24/09/2015 15:29

Suzanne apparently I run better hungover. Don't ask. Intervals have made my quads sore. They do work though here's hoping.

Anglaise1 · 24/09/2015 17:10

apparently I run better hungover
Wow Halle, I wish I did! But dehydration doesn't work for me.
Dingle what shoes are you wearing for the walk? Good luck, I'm sure you will finish even if it is at a slower rate than your treadmill rate.
Suzanne glad your long slow run was less of a PITA.
10 miles from me, 2 with the dog, 8 with my club friend who can run a HM in 1H20M. We did the first 50 mins together at 10km/h then she had to do her last 20mins at 17km/h Shock whilst I trailed behind at 13.5km/h so she had to come back and get me once she'd finished. It is quite motivating running with people who are faster even if you have no chance of ever catching them!

The only time I've ever vommed running what hang over related.

Not running today or tomorrow as racing Saturday and my knee needs a break!

suzannecaravan · 24/09/2015 21:12

has anyone seen this

(105 year old man runs 100m)

wonder how long we'll keep on tottering for!

cinnamongreyhound · 24/09/2015 21:56

There were supposed to be 4 of us running tomorrow morning, 2 already pulled out, chances of me going on my own?

cinnamongreyhound · 25/09/2015 07:12

Yay, I had company. 4 miles from me today, gorgeous watching the sun come up 1162.2

KeyserSophie · 25/09/2015 07:41

9.3 from me to make 1171.5. Nice run but I wish summer would just do one now. It's nearly October and it's still 30 degrees. I'm so over being sweaty and squelching in my shoes after 10k. I long long long for the day I come out and think "it's a bit parky today". I dream of wearing long tights or even compression socks.

I'm trying to decide whether to do Race to the Stones (100k) next July. I'll be in the UK at the right time and lots of people rave about it as an experience but the logistics look like a PITA of the non-running related kind.

Couple of friends doing UT Mout Fuji today. Looks like it's raining from the photos which is a bit of a bugger.

emummy · 25/09/2015 10:32

Lovely relaxing run through the woods in the sunshine. Dog was v happy, I think she thinks I am too slow when we walk that route, she seemed to enjoy me running and almost keeping up with her! keyser just pop over here, a beautiful sunny 12 degrees in Aberdeenshire this morning - am still in shorts & t shirt though!
Have been reading up on trail running ahead of next race, and am liking all the advice to forget about times and just enjoy the run. Tried it this morning and it was much more relaxing.
1173.4

Anglaise1 · 25/09/2015 18:01

8°C here this morning, still shorts and T shirt too emummy. When is your trail race? I agree, don't worry about times, enjoy it and chatting to other runners.
I've got a very short trail race tomorrow, 11km, was going to do the 25km one but I've got another 13km trail race next weekend then the Rennes HM the weekend after so 25km would probably be pushing it.
6.1 sunny but chilly miles with the dog this morning.

No running for me as racing tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a pb. Been throwing the kitchen sink at it lately

Dingle · 25/09/2015 20:27

Thank you all for your help. x

Anglaise and Custardcreams* The walk is all around central London so it will be nearly all road walking and I'd say, not too hilly. (I hope!)

For my treadmill I usually wear a pair of Reebok trainers, very lightweight and comfy. I've never had problems with them before but I've never spent 90 minutes on the treadmill before and I don't think the sole is as padded as it could be. I know I will not be walking at that pace so the impact won't be as concentrated but the distance I need to cover will be the killer.

I have since got myself a few pairs of 1000 mile socks which will hopefully provide me with a bit more padding! LOL

The pain was fairly short lived, I took my trainers off and walked around with bare feet initially but my soles felt so bruised I put my Crocs on for the rest of the evening. Next morning my ankles and calves were a bit tender but nothing much.

I do have a pair of walking boots which are heavier. I tend to use those mainly on holiday walks and although I probably cover further distances in them, I haven't considered them or trained in them for the Shine Walk.

I have a Fitbit and on a day with no training I cover between 6-12K. My issue has been not being able to train for distances, especially over the school holidays as I had no respite for my daughter.

What are the numbers for on the posts please?

Neeko · 25/09/2015 20:43

Hi. Not managed a run for a couple of weeks but hoping to get back out this weekend. Hope everyone else is doing well. Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 26/09/2015 06:27

Oh no Neeko, what has stopped you?

cinnamongreyhound · 26/09/2015 06:28

Whoops pressed to soon! Was 7C here yesterday morning when I went for my run but got up to 17C during the day. I don't wear shorts as my legs are hideous but 3/4 leggings until it's below zero definitely!

Neeko · 26/09/2015 06:42

Just life Cinnamon. Decided to give myself a couple of days off after the race and then work got really busy, we had a long weekend away, it's one of my DCs birthday and I've been preparing for the weekend long celebration Hmm. You know what it's like. I've just gotten out of the habit and I'm quite annoyed with myself about it.
Impossible to get out until at least tomorrow night but I will definitely have my trainers on soon.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/09/2015 11:48

6.2 and a pb. I felt I was going pretty slow then I looked round and realised I was racing with all men (usually a good sign IMO!) not sure of chip time but gun time alone was a pb :) happy as can be!

MyBlackCat · 26/09/2015 13:53

well done lastqueen Smile
