Yes, go for it Custard. You'll find a 10k easy after a HM and you might do a PB there too
6.5 miles with the dog from yesterday. 25km fairly hilly trail race next Saturday so probably shouldn't really do too much this week.

Suzanne I add all the miles covered, many of my steeper hills are done at fast ish walking pace rather than running.

Custard welcome back, would def go for the 10k, as Anglaise said it often feels easier after doing a longer distance.

4 miles yesterday and 9 today, not the most inspiring of weather.

Have hill race on Saturday, one of the Scottish Championship ones which should be interesting. Means you have to accept you'll be much further down the field than normal Sad, but main goal is to beat my time from last year so the faster runners should help spur me on Grin

4 lovely sunrise miles alone with my dogs this morning 1021.9

Will read back later!

Loueytb3 · 22/09/2015 14:30

Adding in 30.62 miles from the last 5 days. Still full of snot but it's manageable. Mind you, the 15 miles I did last Friday were significantly harder than the 20 I did the week before. Horrible wet and cold run into work this morning, trying to dodge not only people but their lethal umbrellas. And now my lovely new trainers are soaked Hmm

Suzanne must be something in the air about intervals – I did some on Sunday and nearly died

anglaise 1st in category! Brilliant Smile Love the freebies you get. Much nicer than a banana…

emummy very well done on your pb Smile

Lastqueen I would not be running 20 milers now for a marathon in April. I think you will burn out. I would keep up with a long run a week – up to 15 miles but some weeks a bit less to give yourself a break. I am doing Brighton next year and after my October marathon I'm planning on dropping back to 3x runs a week to include a long run of 10-14 miles until after Christmas. Marathon training is a really long haul.

Halle - are you planning any more races?

custard Welcome back! I would do the 10k as well. It'll feel like a breeze in comparison to the half.

I agree with the racing = rush. I wish I could do more races. I'm going to miss a race this weekend which I almost always do because we are going to PILs. (To be fair, its FIL's birthday so I can't really complain). I'm trying to work out how I can negotiate with DH to do a half marathon in early November but it is difficult when they are always on Sunday mornings and clash with swimming lessons. Means he has to deal with three kids whilst I "swan off" to do a race (his words).

ah, ok so I've got

10.19-todays run
3.95-yesterdays intervals
14.14

tell hims that's totally irrational Louey he'll be in the water therefore he is the swan

(you are a gazelle of course:) )

HalleLouja · 22/09/2015 15:41

Louey I am supposed to be doing St Neots half the day after DHs 40th, Hatfield 5 miler end of November and will do a 10k either Hatfield House or Herts 10k.... Herts 10k is the day after my cousin's hen party.

custardcreamdreams · 22/09/2015 17:08

Thanks and I have taken your advice and signed up. Need something to look forward to as I've a bit of the blues today. Being an idiot - thought I'd be ecstatic to stop training for it but instead I feel like meh, that's it done, I'll never do my first one again.

Grin my mileage will be a big disappointment this week suzanne as I plan to do sod all and let my poor black, sore toe recover.

MyBlackCat · 22/09/2015 17:23

Just over 3 miles of treadmill intervals from yesterday, I am doing 2 min intervals covering around 450m with a 1 min walk recovery x 8 - it felt fairly comfortable yesterday

Anglaise1 · 22/09/2015 19:35

louey I take it your OH isn't a runner! Don't feel guilty, it is important for your health (physical and mental) and it isn't as if you are doing a race every weekend. I hope you can negotiate for your HM in November! I've just started seeing someone fortunately he runs a little himself and understands the addiction of running, unlike my previous ex BF.
12 miles from today including intervals. Have decided to do just the 11km trail race on Saturday instead of the 25km one because I have a 13km trail race the 3rd Oct and another HM the 12th October. Then probably a few weeks off racing for a while.

Hi long time no run! I have just 2.5 to add (i know but I am going for little and often to get the habit back)

1084.5

lastqueenofscotland · 23/09/2015 10:14

I think you guys are right about distance. I have a lovely 16 mile route so i will stick to that.

5 mile from yesterday to add.

1089.5

cinnamongreyhound · 23/09/2015 16:06

Yes definitely custardcreamdream, you will be recovered and probably your fittest too.

I would say your efforts need to be longer MyBlackCat. Your 15-18sec ones that is.

Well done as always Angalise1 on your 5k!

Loueytb3 that's really sad your dh won't do swimming lessons for a one off so you can do something you enjoy. Perhaps remind him they're his 3 kids too and that you (presimably) deal with all three of them on your own regularly? My dh is pretty supportive most of the time and always brings the kids to races to see me finish but I don't do them all the time!

I was going to run tonight as ds3 has decided 5.45-6,15 is a good time to wake so unless I get him back down I don't have time in the morning but I'm tired and I'm going out at 8 for a meal with the parkrun rd's.

suzannecaravan · 23/09/2015 16:07

4 miles hill/intervals
1093.5

I wore a a pair of brooks that I bought pre max cushioning/zero drop conversion, thought they'd be fine for a short run.
I was wrong, pita started up straight away, I ought to have just turned round and changed them but like an idiot I thought 'oh it'll be ok' carried on.

Wont be wearing them again!

Anglaise1 · 23/09/2015 19:15

Sorry about your PITA coming back Suzanne - mine is always a little worse after intervals (well done on doing them again btw!)
Little dog run this morning, 6.2 miles, nothing too much or fast as it is always more difficult the morning after intervals with the club.

5.23 run home from work. Haven't had a rest day since Saturday and did a 16 miler on Sunday so just trying to push myself through for one more tomorrow then Friday off as racing sunday.

1104.93

suzannecaravan · 23/09/2015 20:37

mine is always a little worse after intervals
Anglaise I know that faster running = greater impact forces but I thought that only running in short bursts would be ok...obviously thought wrongBlush

I'll have to go back and tweak my schedule of physical jerks!

custardcreamdreams · 23/09/2015 20:52

Hope the pain goes away quick suzanne I find my hip flexor starts to hurt every time I try to speed up by either doing sprints or intervals. Should really do the exercises the physio gave me but instead I look at it as a perfect excuse to stick to my usual pace Grin.

Dying to get out for a run now. Might see if I can swing a babysitter for Saturday morn and do parkrun for the first time in ages.

suzannecaravan · 23/09/2015 21:31

sounds like running faster comes at the cost of more pain and injury!

MyBlackCat · 24/09/2015 08:22

A bit over 3 miles doing tempo intervals on treadmill yesterday

Dingle · 24/09/2015 09:03

I haven't been on here for some time, I am an ex C25Ker!

I KNOW I am mad and that I shouldn't do it but I signed up to do the Shine Night Walk a while back. I have a few health issues, a disabled daughter and a puppy (who is now 8 months old).....loads of excuses to have not trained.

My heart still wants to go ahead, although my body says "don't be ridiculous!"

Last night I made the decision to go for it, although I am telling myself that I will only do as much as I feel is right for me...what that will be who knows as I haven't really trained for any distance simply because I haven't dedicated the time to do so.

Last weekend I did manage to dedicate 90 minutes on the treadmill in which I covered just over 6 miles, keeping the pace of about 4-4.2 m/per hour. I felt good afterwards but the soles of my feet felt really hot and tender. If I am like that after 6 miles, how on earth do I cope with 26.2??

Any advice would be MUCH appreciated. x

suzannecaravan · 24/09/2015 09:19

hi Dingle :) I guess its mostly a matter of training and building up the distance gradually, how long have you got?

Dingle · 24/09/2015 09:31

LOL, it's Saturday!

It's do what I can on the night or back out completely.

Dingle · 24/09/2015 09:38

Can anyone tell me about Compeed? What's best to buy please? xx
