This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

Thanks all. And yes feet it was very special, thanks for the support.

What a mess Melanie. Glad to say the London Winter Run went smoothly!

fiftynine, the route was from Trafalgar Square up to Holborn Station, down to Aldwych, across to St.Paul's and back. I used to run a lot in the area too but am now out at Canary Wharf.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/01/2016 20:57

Glad you had a lovely day FiftyNineOhEight! And well done on some awesome tail running Smile

Ahem! No one has recommended my parkrun SadWink I second (or third maybe) wimpole, love a single lap! My parkrun is almost entirely forest trails and is a lovely two lap course that passes by a pond and ends in front of an old stately home (now a nursing home). Was very confused to have loads of Cambridge runner this week when it was their birthday Confused and they loved our run, think they may have been escaping the mud!

My boys school were also at the O2 feetheart, only upper key stage 2 are invited so mine aren't big enough yet. May see you there next year!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/01/2016 20:58

And sorry to hear about your 10k MelanieCheeks and lovely parkrun cheered you up!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/01/2016 21:12

My 100 will be 19th March FiftyNineOhEight I'm rd 27th Feb and will miss 12th March and I'm on 95 now.

FiftyNineOhEight · 31/01/2016 21:32

It's a date cinners Grin

Blatherskite · 31/01/2016 22:37

Nobody said MK either Sad

March 19th is ROCKSOLID weekend in Exeter so I won't be able to come I'm afraid.

chutneypig · 01/02/2016 06:59

That really is lovely fiftynine about the new parkrunner. We've had so many first timers this month, more every week but it looks like lots are coming back. Thirty minute has been like a wall never mind a barrier - DS now has grand plans to pace me more, it might finish me off!

That sounds like a mess Melanie, what a shame when the course sounds fabulous. I'm jealous of the London Winter run. I didn't make the most of running there when I lived there - one slow jog in Hyde Park. That's an impressive bunch of age records too.

Exciting to see the route to 100 cinnamon

feetheart · 01/02/2016 11:56

59 - that it EXACTLY what parkrun is all about and why I love it :o

Sorry Blathers - haven't actually run your parkrun yet though have stood in the freezing cold shouting at people/giving out tokens. Not sure if that was what lastqueen wanted.
Apologies too cinnamon, haven't run yours yet either (though have noted 19th March :))

Melanie - many a childhood memory of Cultra but what a shambles! Who was running the event? Many lessons to take onboard for next year methinks!

steppemum · 04/02/2016 10:05

having a Dutch moment.

went o buy flowers for my friend's birthday, and got irritated all over again with English flower sellers, and longed for a Dutch flower market.

sigh.

steppemum · 04/02/2016 10:13

whoops, wrong thread.

Morning everyone!
dh away this saturday, ds wants to run, dd2 (aged 8) has to come, and is thinking of running one loop with me, we will see!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/02/2016 13:11

We are possibly going away to ilfracombe for half term and Barnstaple is the nearest parkrun, anyone run it?

Blatherskite · 04/02/2016 21:40

My first ever attempt at parkrun tourism was Barnstaple.

Left load of time to get there, found the car park finally (the postcode given on the course page took you somewhere completely random and not whrre you needed to be....then was told that the start was a 10 minute run through the park and I had only just enough time to get there! Being less fit than I am now meant that the thought of a 10 minute run through a park I'd never been to before with my sense of direction felt like too much of a risk so I cut my losses and went back to the apartment Sad The locals were all parked closer or had already gone so there was no one to follow either.

Still need to go back and put that demon to bed by running that course!

FiftyNineOhEight · 05/02/2016 09:05

[blathers] that sounds a bit like me the first time I went to Northampton to see lego. I couldn't park, had to leg it across the racecourse to the start and then accost women fitting her description all the way round the course. One of them said "I'm not lego, but you must be 59", because lego had already asked her if she was me Grin. Fingers crossed for me tomorrow, our last Norfolk attempts over the summer failed - cancellation one week, and marooned the one after Grin

Please can someone keep an eye on this thread and start a new one over the weekend, we're nearly full Grin

Blatherskite · 05/02/2016 11:48

Anyone else endlessly refreshing the Tribesports website?

MelanieCheeks · 05/02/2016 15:14

No. But I did go to the Sweatshop place at lunchtime, and bought myself the new lightweight Adidas Pure Boost beauties! Purple and red so they will match tomorrow's Dick Dastardly costume Grin

In other news, I have an interview next week, and a quick Google reveals that one of my interviewers is a parkrunner.....

Blatherskite · 05/02/2016 18:23

My refreshing worked :)

Today at 12 they launched the first in the range of the "parkrun range" which is kit that you can buy rather than just earn. There were 500 parkrun branded Tribesports t-shirts which you could have personalised with your home run on. I can't wait for mine to arrive :)

They're sold out now but there will be more in a few weeks - tribesports.com/products/parkrun-women-performance-short-sleeve-t-shirt-uk

chutneypig · 06/02/2016 06:43

Are you having a family parkrun trip steppe?

It's tipping down here and doesn't look like it's going to improve. Grump. It's been a long week and I'm in dire need of running it off.

It's fated Melanie, just need to engineer parkrun in in a subtle way and job done!

I love the colour of the shirts but was far too slow off the mark. Well done Blathers

Hope Norfolk pans out fiftynine

Hackedabove · 06/02/2016 06:59

I had good intentions to join DH, DS1 (10) and DS2 (7) a few weeks ago, but it was cancelled due to ice.

DH and DS1 did it last week in 28mins which I thought I would struggle to do...

If I do it with DS2 at least I have an excuse to walk (not a good or practised runner).

Have fun!

lastqueenofscotland · 06/02/2016 08:03

Taking my mum to her first ever parkrun today Grin

cheapandcheerful · 06/02/2016 08:03

Hi everyone,

A bit of advice needed please! There is a park run starting up in the field behind my house today and I was hope to make it this morning for their first one.

However I just looked at the park run website and it recommends trail shoes at all times as it can be muddy when wet.

It's wet today. Am I completely daft for thinking I can just do it in my normal trainers?

MyBlackCat · 06/02/2016 08:10

It's going to be a wet one this morning Shock

Go for it cheap just take it steady and I'm sure you will be fine in trainers.

lastqueenofscotland · 06/02/2016 10:13

Hope you went and enjoyed cheap?

Mum had a nice time at hers. I was happy enough with 24 mins on a v congested course. Mum did about 33/35 and got chatting to a lovely old man who came back and hi-fives and congratulated her on her first parkrun. I love park runners
