This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

Oh I missed the centurions - that is fantastic!!!

MyBlackCat · 09/01/2016 14:29

I've missed parkrun for last two Saturday's as I've been on holiday, it was my home runs 1st birthday today so v poor planning on the holiday front Shock looking forward to getting back running this week and next Saturday.

Well done to everyone that ran today Grin

Misty9 · 09/01/2016 14:37

I ran my first parkrun in over 5 years this morning, having had an operation, two dc and horrible spd in the interim. Different location and proud I got round, even if I was most definitely bringing up the rear! My goal is to run all the way :)

sweetvparsley · 09/01/2016 14:55

Did a spot of Marshalling today and really enjoyed it. There was a record breaking turnout as two local courses were out of action because of the wet weather.

The weather forecast had been for cold and gloom but the sun managed to breakthrough and there was a wonderful atmostphere.

Well done to those that ran - especially the pbpb cinners.

Hope the knee is better soon steppemum

Let us know what happens about your age category thing Melanie not that its going to affect me!

HalleLouja · 09/01/2016 17:40

Well done Misty.

Today I sacrificed my parkrun. The DH ran with DS. DH was so inspired with DS running it last week he wanted to run it with DS. It went well and I think they want to do it next week too.

In bad news DD might start going swimming on Saturday mornings so my weekly parkrun days are numbered.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/01/2016 21:51

Well done Misty9!

Oh no disaster HalleLouja!!! Just tell her swimming is rubbish, running is much better Shock

HalleLouja · 10/01/2016 04:57

She's 4. Plus the DH wants to do parkrun with DS and I have spent years trying to encourage him to run again. He said we could alternate.

FiftyNineOhEight · 10/01/2016 17:56

Hello parkrunners!

Got completely drenched yesterday marshaling (but I did have some nice comments about how my clapping and cheering helped people along Smile). I also got to shout at people to keep left when the front runners were lapping the slower runners Grin

Our poor chap from last week has a broken femur Sad

And my work is almost done. DS2 complained that I didn't wake him up to go with me; and DS1 took himself off to his Uni parkrun (and complained that it took him longer to cycle there and back than it did to run it Smile)

Halle great that DS enjoyed it enough to want to go back, and that you have got DH back into running. But make sure you get to have your turn too!

Misty welcome back to parkrun Star

Melanie how lovely for DH to find his old teacher Smile

cinners well done on the PBPB Star Star

steppe how's the knee?

Well done chutney Star next week you will do it!

really did you get inspired?

fist bump for sweet for volunteering Star

I'm on 15 volunteer stints now, and am planning to volunteer once a month now that I'm not chasing my 100 shirt - the next milestone is 250, so it will take forever Smile. Although we did have someone doing his 200th run yesterday. I remember him getting his 100 shirt, which makes me realise how long I've been a parkrunner Smile

MelanieCheeks · 10/01/2016 21:28

Yes, I can empathise, 59! I was delighted to be credited with volunteering yesterday even though I was just lending a hand -if I volunteer once a month I should get that lovely purple shirt this year. I'm aiming to have my 250 before I'm 60!

But...official t shirts or not, I shall be marking the 100th time I run at my home event, which, given the amount of tourism I do, might well coincide with my 150th run. Might get that in before the end of 2016. Though I've just entered my first 10k of the year which is next Saturday......

chutneypig · 11/01/2016 07:06

Excellent job with the DSs fiftynine

I'm glad your DS is enjoying it Halle but that'll be a pain with the swimming lessons. I know it's out a few of my friends off parkrun because of swimming clashes.

Well done Misty

Hopeful lots of volunteer T shirts for us all this year Smile

jchocchip · 11/01/2016 07:26

Hi everyone. I haven't been around on mumsnet for a while. I started the year by doing new years parkrun then the firsr two Saturday runs, so was doing OK. But this week it was raining so hard I only did two of the three laps as the marshalls were getting very wet, and I would have been 10 minutes behind the runner in front of me. I am trying to be more active, fitting in swimming but I can't seem to get my running mojo back.

MelanieCheeks · 11/01/2016 08:13

Welcome aboard, jchocchip, good start to the year! Hopefully as the weather improves your mojo might return.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/01/2016 09:18

Good to see you back jchocchip, how are things with you?

jchocchip · 11/01/2016 15:22

. Thanks for asking. I'm okish -have come out of counselling and am looking forward to going to 3 days a week at work later this year. I've put much of the weight back on so I'm 2 stone heavier than when I did c25k. I'm trying to do mfp again, and an activity every day. Well done on your post bump pb :). How are things with you?

FiftyNineOhEight · 11/01/2016 20:40

jchoc how lovely to see you posting again ((())) (I have name changed but you know me from this thread). How's everything? Flowers

chutneypig · 12/01/2016 06:24

Great to hear you got out so much in the new year jchocchip. I've found the weather conditions have meant it's felt like I've been grinding out the runs. Weather was much better Saturday and it made a world of difference, so hopefully your mojo isn't far away. The activity every day sounds great, what sort of thing are you doing?

cinnamongreyhound · 15/01/2016 14:16

Hello all! I'm sadly missing parkrun tomorrow as I'm running my first proper canicross race. I'm excited and nervous and sad to miss my parkrun. Happy parkrun eve everyone Smile

MelanieCheeks · 15/01/2016 15:38

Oooh, let me know how that goes! I'll be without my canine chum tomorrow, and am not parkrunning either, as I'm doing a 10k forest run. Ice permitting, of course.

feetheart · 16/01/2016 06:45

Our first proper cold spell so we have no idea how our course will react. We are mainly tarmac so ice could be a problem. No rain since Thursday so I'm hoping we are OK
Hope everyone else gets a run in.

chutneypig · 16/01/2016 07:12

Enjoy the canicross cinnamon.

A forest run sounds fabulous Melanie hopefully conditions won't be too bad unde trees with ice or saying but bit muddy I imagine. Is it trail like or really off between trees?

Fingers crossed for you feet. I saw on FB a couple weren't running because of ice.

At least me and the DC are thermal-enabled. DH teases me that I have running kit for every weather type but he won't be mocking today! I'll interested to see how many of our first timers from last week come back today. Hopefully they enjoyed it and aren't put off by the cold.

FiftyNineOhEight · 16/01/2016 08:34

Brrrr! Chilly here but the RD has posted on FB to say we are going ahead Smile

FiftyNineOhEight · 16/01/2016 12:14

Despite the cold I ended up having a lovely run - ran round with a fast friend who is marathon training and therefore taking it easy today (i.e. 30 mins instead of 27/28) Smile. We managed to chat quite a lot and do it in under 31 minutes, so we were both pleased Grin

chutney hope the thermals worked Grin

feetheart did everything go OK today? We were icy in a couple of places, and there were some frozen puddles to avoid.

Hope the forest 10K went well Melanie and the chancres cinners (I can't believe this was your first proper canicross event!)

chutney I am back in thermals, as we're off to watch DS2 play rugby this afternoon Smile.

ThursdayLastWeek · 16/01/2016 12:45

Hello everyone.

I'm a guilty feeling pregnancy person today - I slept v badly last night, and running is beyond me now really so I didn't go to parkrun this am even though it was out second birthday.

And I missed out on a prize! hopefully they'll save it for me
That'll teach me!
I must have still been high up enough in the points despite my declining times since the summer!

I hope you all had a good morning and didn't get too cold bbrrrrrrrr

I went for a walk a bit later than 9 and it was frosty and frozen even down here

ThursdayLastWeek · 16/01/2016 12:46

Good luck with the canicross race cinners!
Nd your 10k Melanie!

standingonlego · 16/01/2016 14:08

Frosty one here, but gorgeous clear skies and sunshine. Ran with a friend today and it was great, we are well matched pace wise and helped push each along. Next target for us both is to break the sub-27 minute barrier :)

Thank you to all volunteers braving the cold, it is harder to stand than run!

Good luck to all of you running and racing (and enjoy chilling in the warm everyone else - sensible folk!)
