This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

I had an awful run this morning - how is it possible to be 2 and a half minutes slower than two weeks ago? I felt terrible, I am classing it as 1 run closer to my 50 t shirt which I've set the objective of achieving before the end of 2016 Grin

Hope everyone else's runs were better

HalleLouja · 05/09/2015 14:45

Did Tring today. That is all. I thought it would be undulating after the big hill but was definitely hilly all the way round. Gorgeous. Not in a rush to go back.

BlackCat we have all had runs like that. I ran 6 minutes slower than Wednesday night. But then Wednesday was flat and tarmac and this was hilly and muddy.... Still even at SA I differ in times by quite a bit if I am shattered.

HalleLouja · 05/09/2015 14:47

Ohhh that was parkrun 45. Depending on how it works out am thinking a trip somewhere when I get to my 50th. Maybe Luton.... maybe somewhere else.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/09/2015 15:05

BlackCat as Halle says we all have bad runs sometimes. Factors that can affect me include how busy I have been at work; how much sleep I've had (cumulatively and the night before parkrun); how much wine I had the night before; if I forgot to have a final wee before I left the house; if I've run much during the week; time of the month...the possibilities are endless. Today I was faster than last week, despite having had too much wine and a mega stressy week at work and home.

Halle well done. I haven't been to Tring yet but I remember feet saying it was a bit of a killer. Keep me posted on your 50th plans - if you decide on Luton I will come and eat Cake with you Grin

Blackcat, the others have already said it, but I concur - things that affect my run time include what I've eaten, and drunk, how stressed I've been, how well I slept, how well hydrated I am, how much running or other exercise I've done recently...and the weather.

But the good thing is, when it comes to earning your 50 T shirt, your times make no odds!

MyBlackCat · 05/09/2015 19:15

Thanks everyone. In the past few weeks I have made such big improvements that I was bound to have a slow one at some point and even though I was disappointed it was probably still in my top 8 fastest times so not terrible terrible. I have also had a stressful few days and it is my time of the month although that has not really effected me too much before. Had a fairly light week but my legs just felt very heavy.

At least with Parkrun there is always next week! Only 31 more runs until I get my t-shirt Wink

ThursdayLastWeek · 05/09/2015 20:03

Yes that's my motivation -clocking up the numbers!
I found the endless pursuit of a PB at parkrun made me not enjoy it as much.

I got my first over 30 minute time today! I'm so happy that next week all my buds will have seen a scan pic (all being well of course) and they can make allowances for me!

Oh and I can just give up and let the belly hang out Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 05/09/2015 21:17

Missed your midweek pb hallelouja, sorry and well done.

I felt exactly the same ThursdayLastWeek, although I didn't really show until 18 weeks+.

Our new rd did very well, very much his own style though Grin

steppemum · 05/09/2015 21:32

hi all,
our parkrun was cancelled again today, but I did a 5k anyway.

and next week it is dd1s 11+ so I won't be running again!

Blatherskite · 06/09/2015 21:32

I've just ordered my 100 shirt! Finally!! Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/09/2015 21:44

Hooray Blathers I ordered my 50 shirt yesterday, am on 90+ runs so I thought I should get a move on or I'd never wear it once I got my 100 shirt.

DS1 (all 6 foot 2 of him) still isn't able to order his 10 shirt Grin

A bit late for the roll call but Telford is my home run. My DSis lives in Nottingham so have managed a few near her, but a couple more have appeared so I will need to pop over to see her Grin

We have parkrun bigwigs on tour Tom Williams and Joanne Sinton-Hewitt over this weekend. There is a Q and A session with them on Friday and I was hoping to look intelligent by asking lots of intelligent questions but can't think of any - so if you have anything you want to know or wondered about parkrun that would make me look thoughtful and insightful, please share!!

I'm hoping to do parkrun this week, as it's a special one, although the logistics of two kids is a bit of a headache - the little one will hopefully be asleep, and Will be left at the finish line with a friend - DH will be finished in around 24 mins, and I'll have big one in the pushchair!

ThursdayLastWeek · 10/09/2015 10:57

Hi parkrunners, thought you might like to know that I had my scan yesterday and BabyThurs is looking just right Smile

I've been put forward a few days 13+4 which will make me 15 weeks when I run the HM

MelanieCheeks · 10/09/2015 18:20

Good news on teh scan, Thurs!

I'm hoping to run the last of the NI ones this week, in my native Derry City. However, there's a huge storm on the way. Hopefully not bad enough to cancel, but I'll be packing my wet gear.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 10/09/2015 20:04

Congrats Thursday glad all is looking good Smile

I'm on tour to Cambridge this weekend.

Well done on your full house Melanie

Now, who was talking about Bushey next month?

Great news on the scan ThursdayLast!!

Wow running with a buggy so soon karatekimmi!!!! I think I'd get dh to do the pushing first week back. Enjoy your q&a and your first parkrun in a while.

Have fun in Cambridge OhOneOhTwoOhThree!!

I'm at home and have to dash back as ds2's party starts at 11! It was the only slot available when I booked in July but should be doable without too much stress!

steppemum · 11/09/2015 13:11

no parkrun for me tomorrow AGAIN, as I have to take dd1 to her 11+.
I did debate dropping her off, going to parkrun and then picking up. But no nearby parkrun, and no shower at hand. Didn't want to embarrass her picking up all sweaty and smelly!

Ran today though and finally feel like I am back on track, was doing 5k, but was having a nice run, so did an extra loop so it was 6.5, and even sprinted the end. Feel like I am a runner again.

ThursdayLastWeek · 11/09/2015 14:14

Love that feeling steppe Smile

chutneypig · 11/09/2015 20:04

Wonderful news Thursday. I am phenomenally impressed that was your first over 30 minute time at that parkrun. Awesome!

Great to hear about all the t shirts coming in, blathers and ohone.

How exciting to complete the set Melanie. Enjoy it!

Hope everything goes well tomorrow steppe. Getting a sprint in at the end is something I aspire to!

cinnamon hope the party goes well.

Which ones have you done around Nottingham karatekimmi? My friend said one of the new ones, at Gedling, is more hilly than the undulating course description suggests!

ThursdayLastWeek · 12/09/2015 07:07

Well it is absolutely tipping it down here today, it's gonna be a slippy one!

chutneypig · 12/09/2015 07:21

Take it easy! At least it's quieter after the holidays. I couldn't believe how many tourists there were with us.

MyBlackCat · 12/09/2015 09:58

Hope everyone had good runs - I had another one that I will classify as 'one closer to a t-shirt'

My time was ok it's just at somepoint a few weeks ago I hit a purple patch and had three very quick runs that I now can't anywhere near Confused

Fortunately thursday the rain stopped just before 9 with me, congratulations on the scan news and I hope you took it easy this morning.

chutneypig · 12/09/2015 10:39

Same here MyBlackCat. It started off well but DD was flagging and it got very humid on the second lap so I was more than happy to slow down. Think it was my fastest start so just need to keep it going.

Hope it wasn't too wet for everyone this morning.

TwatByName · 12/09/2015 11:04

Hello can I join you all?

I've just done 3rd parkrun , I love atm

TwatByName · 12/09/2015 11:07

Sorry my phone is playing up, I might have to post late. When it stops randomly hiding the keyboard and kicking of MN!
