This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

It's all go on the media front! Fantastic. I looked and looked but couldn't see you on the FB page Melanie but will have another look. I'm clearly a bit challenged with FB. Exciting to hear about more runs starting.

An eight year old with 100? Wow! And there was DS so proud of his 10 T shirt which came this week!

I managed 8k before arriving at work in a sweaty heap yesterday. Three weeks before the 10k so feeling slightly less scared!

MelanieCheeks · 18/09/2015 07:38

There's a group of 3 red 50 shirts, I'm the short female in the middle. The background shows Foyle Marina, it was taken at Derry City parkrun.

I had a bad dream last night - I was running an unfamiliar parkrun, DH was with me doing his first, we missed the start, and I was running round in circles trying to catch up, going "I HAVE to do this one or I won't make my 100!"

8 year old with 100 is SERIOUSLY impressive!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/09/2015 07:48

Where is the showcase thingy? I can't find it Grin

Melanie I love your nightmare you poor thing! I still haven't got over my bar code not scanning early on in my parkrun career, meaning I have run one more than parkrun tells me I have Grin

I agree about the 8YO. We have a family of young runners and they all have their 50 or 100 shirts. I try to run near them some weeks just to hear the Mum coaching the little boys - she is absolutely brilliant at keeping them going Smile

Well done chutney, you'll do a great 10K.

I have a bonus run at home tomorrow - DS thought he was moving into his university halls, which meant an early start, but it turns out he isn't moving in until Sunday Smile

I also meant to say that our super-running family (Dad is one of our EDs, he popped up volunteering at another event I did over the summer as he's a member of the running club that organised it) also have a little dog who runs in what I guess must be one of the boys' outgrown 10 shirts Grin

Am doing Aldenham tomorrow. Am looking forwards to it. Think it might be my sixth different one.

MelanieCheeks · 18/09/2015 18:13

Here's the milestone T shirt showcase

on the parkrun UK Facebook page.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/09/2015 20:42

Thank you Melanie (and cinners who also sent me the link)

My time tomorrow will be horrendous thanks to wine, curry and rugby, but there's always next week Smile

I'm volunteering tomorrow (resting before the half marathon on Sunday)

I'll be doing a "Your parkrun needs you!" selfie to encourage volunteering.

Maybe there should be a rule that you have to have volunteered at least once before you can claim a 50 shirt.....

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/09/2015 22:39

Yes Melanie, excellent idea Smile

What a lovely morning for a parkrun. More speedy than I expected Smile

Have a great weekend everyone - I'm off out with DS1 now to kit him out for University tomorrow. The good news is that his new city has several parkruns within striking distance for when I visit (if he lets me) Grin

Lovely sunny morning for me and I was more speedy than I expected too ohOne

I've had an easier week running/exercise wise although it's not been stress free, so I'm really pleased with this mornings run Smile

chutneypig · 19/09/2015 14:43

I didn't recognise it in the sunshine Thursday Smile.

Beautiful day here too, really enjoyed my run and had some lovely chats with people. DS was very happy sporting his 10 top and now has his sights firmly on 50. He got a PB and smashed another minute barrier so he was buzzing for most of the morning.

HalleLouja · 19/09/2015 16:17

Aldenham was a fab parkrun. It was a beautiful route with fab volunteers. That was actually my 7th. Think the next club one we do will be Oak Hill.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/09/2015 21:14

Good luck tomorrow MelanieCheeks and ThursdayLastweek!

Is he going to UEA in the end OhOneOhTwoOhThree? Have fun shopping hope it's not too expensive Wink

Well done miniChutneyPig!

I was late today so official time was 30:16 but I started at least 1.5mins after the timers started! We had token issues so rd needed my help sorting results and after trying to thrash it out together I took laptop home and ended up working on results until 12.30 Sad and that's with onl 81 runners! So that's 81 runs and 44 volunteering for me since March 2013, not bad.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/09/2015 23:12

Hi cinnamon DS didn't get the grades for UEA so is off to Sheffield Hallam instead. Shopping went well, and most of his stuff was in the sale thank goodness size 11 hiking boots anyone? From what I can tell he will be spending lots of time out in the Peak District Smile

I am apparently allowed to visit from time to time, as long as we meet in a neutral venue off campus Grin

OP posts:
chutneypig · 20/09/2015 07:13

That's dedication cinnamon - massively appreciated I'm sure. And another run towards 100!

Do parkruns count as neutral venues 0hone?! Good stuff with the sales, it must be shudderingly expensive.

Which has been your favourite Halle? Or anyone actually? I'm trying to have a rough list of tourism opportunities. Two men running behind us yesterday covered a few, I was trying to be subtle in my eavesdropping!

karatekimmi · 20/09/2015 12:05

Did my first parkrun in a few months!! I walked the first mile, then DH took the pram and I ran the rest of the way!! I finished last in a time of 43 mins!! I was pleased with my speed over the last mile!

MelanieCheeks · 20/09/2015 16:16

A true parkrun heroine, cinners.

Well done karate, always feels good to finish well!

Runtoyou · 20/09/2015 19:33

Hi can I join your thread? I'm a regular runner but did my first park run yesterday. I have been thinking about it for a while but glad I finally took the plunge. Looking forward to doing more??

Runtoyou · 20/09/2015 19:35

That should be ?? not ??

Runtoyou · 20/09/2015 19:36

Can't seem to type smiley faces blxxdy iPad!

MelanieCheeks · 20/09/2015 20:48

ThursdayLastWeek · 20/09/2015 21:20

chutneypig · 21/09/2015 06:42
