Anyone up up for a June walking challenge?

Had one going for April and I think it helped a bit.

Basically anything you like once it gets you walking more than you are currently doing!

I have a Fitbit and am aiming for 10,000 steps a day.

I also use MapMyWalk and have a loop I do that is 4km. For the first week I am aiming to do that every day. After that I will increase.

I read on another thread that 15,000 steps a day is needed for weight loss so I'm aiming to get to that by the end of the month.

Hoping for some company again!

I did it! Walked home. I actually walked from work to House of Fraser near Victoria, then walked home. 12km walk. Total steps for the day 20,292 and 155 active minutes

don't think I'll get a chance to do much tomorrow as it's supposed to be rainy plus my house is a tip so cleaning instead of walking will have to do

Howlongtillbedtime · 19/06/2015 22:51

I am impressed London especially after a full day at work.

I have managed 13582 today and 58 a.m I am pleased with that but slightly gutted I cba to get it up to 15k

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/06/2015 23:50

15901 and 61 AMs today, and I feel as though I've had quite a lazy day! It was all spread out, school run then into town, another school run, went to the allotment later, then into town and back again tonight for a show, just got back.

CiderwithBuda · 20/06/2015 00:34

12,548 and 46 active minutes for me today.

Leg held up well!

Night out tonight and I wore sandals with a block heel. Not very high. Was a bit worried for so far so good. No pain.

Walking down to Tonacise again tomorrow.

LondonHuffyPuffy - impressive walking! The toning place is called Tonacise - it's non impact but does work at toning up. You can let the machines do the work or put as much effort in as you like. I did it a few years ago and found it good. Then joined a gym instead but never used it so at least I know I will use this. And I can walk there and back.

Toning thing sounds interesting. I shall investigate. Glad your leg held up. I only managed 7875 yesterday but I did do 2.5 hours non-stop cleaning so not completely lazy

Today is a different story. I am excruciatingly hungover and it took all my energy to do a short walk to Sainsburys earlier! Trying to summon the energy to go for a walk soon.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 21/06/2015 21:07

Well, I dragged my carcass off the sofa and did a 12km walk. Not too shabby.

Total for today 20,399 steps, 148 active minutes. 4,000 or so of those were from dancing in the wee small hours of this morning Grin

We went to a party at our friends' house. Apparently we got home at 4am Blush

CiderwithBuda · 21/06/2015 22:07

Sounds like a good night London! Grin

I walked to TOnacise on Saturday but even with that I didn't hit 10'000 steps.

And today I dd nothing. Impressed with your 12km!!!

OP posts:
LondonHuffyPuffy · 21/06/2015 22:36

Ummm... I think it was a good night!

The Mumsnet Fitbit Group is motivating me to move, along with my need not to be so fat!

Is Tonacise the name of a chain or your local place? Google not being helpful

Howlongtillbedtime · 22/06/2015 07:15

Morning all , weekends are always a tricky time for me . Too much wine , food and sitting on my ample backside . All good fun but not exactly helpful to the flab fight Grin Hope the hangover has dissapeared London

Fingers crossed your foot is holding up well cider

Saturday I managed 9600 and 40 active minutes and an awful lot of calories , we went to a friends for dinner and she is an amazing cook so it would have been rude and foolish to refuse .

Yesterday was a bit better I forced myself out for a walk to help with the hangover and I did 13920 and 76 active minutes .

I am going to make a real effort this week to aim more for the 15000 a day .

CiderwithBuda · 22/06/2015 13:05

London - Tone-a-Cise is my local one. It's not a chain. Not sure if there are many around.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 22/06/2015 21:58

Thanks Howlong. I've just about recovered! My friend who hosted the party is a chef and she made some delicious yet healthy food for me... then I ruined it all by drinking way too much wine. Cross with myself for that.

Thanks, Cider. Will continue investigating because I'm intrigued.

16,930 steps today, 114 active minutes

Howlongtillbedtime · 23/06/2015 07:01

Morning all , a better day yesterday 17511 steps and 107 active mins . Not expecting anywhere near that today as I am back to work but I am going to try and get out for a walk at lunch time .

Good luck to everyone !

LondonHuffyPuffy · 23/06/2015 23:47

17702 and 148 active mins. I have a new FitBit buddy, he's v competitive. Ha! So am I. He won't see me for dust Grin

How's your foot/ leg, Cider?

Hope you all had a good day

LondonHuffyPuffy · 24/06/2015 00:11

Blimey. I'm doing quite well in the MN Fitbit group Grin

CiderwithBuda · 24/06/2015 13:27

Hi all.

Leg doing well thanks London. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

11,949 steps and 56 active minutes yesterday.

First weigh in at Slimming World this morning and am 3.5 lbs down. Happy with that.

Did a longer route back from Tonacise yesterday which is 30 mins so will do that both ways in future. Drove to Tonacise today as went straight from Slimming World so still need to do my walk.

London - I would bet you are doing well! You do so many steps!

Not sure I'm up for joining. How many are on it? Maybe I should?

LondonHuffyPuffy · 24/06/2015 13:42

Glad to hear that and have fingers crossed for you. Well done on the loss, that's great news!

I am really not losing weight as quickly as I think I ought to be. In fact, it's extremely up and down Angry. I was back up to 92.2 yesterday morning. 91.7 this morning.

I am being scrupulous about checking portion size, logging all my food, keeping cals at sub-1,200 and walking like a bloody demon and yet I haven't lost a single gramme since last week. I don't get it. I don't even think it's because I am gaining muscle because I don't look or feel like I am. One single night of drinking - in which I stuck to very dry prosecco and didn-t drink more than a bottle (despite gopping hangover) - shouldn't stall it this much, should it?

I should be losing 3lb or more a week.

I am mid to end cycle so that might make a difference. I think it has in previous months. I might need to compare my MFP chart with my Period Tracker chart.

But it's so bloody demoralising

MN Fitbit group is v quiet. There are 117 members but no one really posts anything. I just look at the leaderboard

LondonHuffyPuffy · 24/06/2015 13:44

Oh bollocks I thought this was the weight loss thread I'm on not the Fitbit thread! Sorry Blush

Howlongtillbedtime · 24/06/2015 20:10

Grin London I don't know about anyone else but obviously I don't mind as I would have read it there anyway . I am also a bit up and down and I am studiously ignoring the fact . I am sticking to what I am doing because I know that in the long run (and this has to be a long run thing ) no body who walks every day and eats 1500 cals a day will put weight on .

It will come off , I am determined it will ! So it must be true .

LondonHuffyPuffy · 24/06/2015 20:47

Thanks, Howlong. I know you're right. I'm just impatient! I have to remember that it took a long time to get this fat, it will take a long time to get slim. Sigh. Sulk!

17429 and 116 AMs today. On a positive note.

Howlongtillbedtime · 24/06/2015 20:54

That is a really good amount London

It is tedious not losing the weight really quickly but it will stay off better if it comes of amount a steady pace . I know I tend to go up and down for aweek or so and tten two or three comes off almost overnight .

LondonHuffyPuffy · 24/06/2015 21:02

Thank you, I really do appreciate your support and encouragement.

How was your day?

Howlongtillbedtime · 24/06/2015 21:25

Not bad thanks . I have managed 12700 steps and if I could have been arsed to go and do another walk I would have done over 100 k in a week for the first time . That is my next goal .

hopefully tomorrow. ......

LondonHuffyPuffy · 24/06/2015 22:26

Anything over 10k is bloody good and 100k in a week is bloody hard work! It's a good goal to aim for. I'm getting most of my steps in walking home from work because if I get hone I know I would never be arsed to move again!

CiderwithBuda · 24/06/2015 23:12

I was sure I posted earlier!

London - done worry about posting here about weight. A lot of us are trying to lose.

The only thing I would say is that under 1,200 cals is very low. Are you eating enough?

I didn't end up walking today. Remembered I had some stuff to parcel up and post so planned to walk to post office but then had to wait for gas fitter. Then I was going to go around 5 but decided to take washing in first. Then realised one of the dogs had dug up part of flower bed we planted yesterday so had to sort that. Etc etc etc!

I will def walk tomorrow.

Evening all , hope your leg is still holding up cider

Today I have managed 16199 steps and 73 active minutes , I am pleased with that but the 100k in a week is still out of my reach . But I will get there !

Hope everyone is doing ok today .
