Hi all, I've just realised I maxed out our thread by posting the 1000th post earlier so I thought I should start a new one!

Hoping you all find me here...

Onlywhen - the weather is cooling down here in Rome so I may wander out for a run later this week too..

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/10/2015 11:06

Can I join in? Smile. I started Insanity yesterday (have done it before on and off, not the whole programme, just intermittently, but that was over 2 years ago). God I'm struggling. Have had a rotten two years with a hideous divorce, have tried really hard to keep up training to an extent but it's been difficult. I used to be a very regular gym goer (11+ classes a week, Body Pump, Body Combat, Spinning) but haven't been able to go back to that being a LP. Was very lucky that one of my former instructors gave me a load of combat classes on a memory stick so have been working out at home, cycling, bit of running, weights/kettlebells, bought Davina DVD's (not challenging enough I found). So, with a very important wedding coming up in December, I thought I need to get arse in gear and do the Insanity programme again. Holy bloody hell. Day two, I really struggled to get through the routine, indeed on the last push, I had to sit out a whole four minutes and I was really slow. This is terrible!! I ache to buggery from yesterday. Tell me it'll be fine in a few weeks Grin...or grimace as the case may be! Sorry for long post!

Purpleraindeer · 20/10/2015 19:23

Hi mrsC. Poor you on the aches. It's the sitting down and stairs which are a killer isn't it? I bet the fitness comes back faster than you think - first week is the hardest for sure! You'll get lots of motivation and chat here.

Boobz - I'm sorry I'm flaking out tonight. I don't feel very well so am taking a night off as I really can't afford to get sick (i feel embarrassed saying that to you tbh Blush). Back on it tomorrow with extreme circuit. Re abs - if you want a change you could try t25beta abs work out - can't remember what it's called (cardio abs maybe?) but search on it on vk as it's definitely on there.

Boobz · 20/10/2015 20:27

Day 2 of the challenge and you're out! Only joking - rest up.

So I will do Ript tomorrow.

Welcome MrsC. I am an Insanity addict - I did it pretty much 5 or 6 x a week for nearly a year but then went and got cancer so have taken a week break. Am now doing some T25 to get back into it. I miss Insanity though - it's tough but it really isn't like anything else I've done - harder than P90X but I am a big fan of Tony as well as Shaun. Whose wedding is it?

Welcome Mrs C, I haven't done insanity but I have done T25 and a few of the Insanity max 30 workouts and they are killer! Sounds like you have had a really tough few years Flowers

Jackster really great to hear from you, and fab that you have still been managing to fit in some classes.

Well done Boobz!! I think shaun t would have an evil Grin right now, even T25 gets a bit crazy!

Purple hope you ward off the illness ... defo rest and put your feet up this eve Brew

I wonder how eleanor is doing with body coach ?

Hi fives or hugs to everyone as needed!

Ok I have been continuing to struggle with settling into a routine, I think I need to lay out my gear the night before and get dressed as soon as I get up then fit a workout in amongst making everyone bf and getting ready for work etc. But I did p90x 3 MMX martial arts workout today, I really liked it, I could feel my heart beating so although it wasn't an all out brink of collapse workout, I think it was def still doing something!

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/10/2015 22:57

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. Only my fingers work tonight which is a relief as I can at least type! Smile

Boobz, so sorry to read of your diagnosis. Sounds like you've kicked it's ugly butt. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery Flowers

Although I have tried to keep up with regular exercise, it's just not Insanity. So will keep at it (but probably not every day especially with half term). I don't know if anybody else has tried them but there is a good channel on YouTube called "Fitness Blender", they do some really good, short HIIT workouts that I do if I am really pushed for time but are very effective.

Hopefully full fitness will return forthwith! Smile

onlywhenyouleave · 21/10/2015 07:05

mrsc welcome Smile hope you get your fitness mojo back and I agree that it will come back quicker than you think! I have done some fitness blender workouts - I like the format but find it a bit hit and miss with the content (I like my workouts to have variety of moves but some of those workouts are quite repetitive).

purple hope you feel better soon Flowers

jackster great to hear from you, glad you are still working out.

yumyum I am really struggling with time at the moment but am doing what I can. Am going to do the 21 day fix lower workout this evening. First fast day for a while aswell - gonna be tough Grin

Boobz · 21/10/2015 08:03

I meant wee break, not week break!

Thanks Mrs C and Yum.

Right, going to get my gym kit on!

Boobz · 21/10/2015 09:16

Day 3 of Gamma challenge:

T25 Gamma Rip't.

Hmm, not sure I enjoyed that. It was such a mix of easy stuff and impossible stuff, I don't know if I could really get into it. I'm not really that sweaty compared to the 2 previous days. It's almost like a cross between Insanity and P90X but without really getting into either. I think I would prefer to do a Insanity/P90X hybrid like Full Steam and I started (where has Full Steam gone again?)

And those Superman flies! I literally burst out laughing on my first attempt. DH came over to see what was so ridiculous and then he pointed out Shaun was using tiny weights and I was still using my 3kg ones (I don't have anything lighter!) and so had to do it weightless. And the arm push up jacks at the end?! C'mon, who can do those without going to their knees?

Or maybe I could do them if I hadn't lost all my fitness! I am really enjoying doing something else, but I am a bit resistant to change so am finding it quite hard vs. what I am used to with Insanity (which gets me drenched in sweat). I guess it's really proving to me I need to change things up as you do get used to a certain set of exercises and then plateau, fitness wise.

So, tomorrow is The Pyramid - anything I should know? Are you doing the double purple, to keep up with me?!

onlywhenyouleave · 21/10/2015 12:28

Boobz I can't do arm jack push ups even on my knees Grin Pyramid is my fave - it is based on increasing repetitions of various moves (so, for example, you start with one hook and one squat and then 2 hooks and 2 squats and so on). There is one set of pike-ups and downward dogs which is impossible (even the modified version!!) but I bet you will be able to do it. You do 1 pike-up and then downward dog, 2 pike-ups and downward dog all the way up to about 11 or 12 pike-ups - unfortunately the downward dogs don't get longer between each set of reps though!

Can't wait to see what you think of it Smile

Purpleraindeer · 21/10/2015 20:59

Hi all!
I efficiently just was ill between about 4pm yesterday and 10am this morning so was fine to work out tonight!

I did ript up to keep pace with boobz. I agree - def not my favourite. You don't get sweaty at all as it's just arms which are hard. I did do the press up jacks without resorting to knees tho Grin. Looking forward to pyramid tomorrow.

Boobz - if it's sweaty and knackered you're after I recommend max30 either sweat intervals or max out sweat. Both are evil but brilliant

Jackster - glad you're ok. Hope your ds is doing better at school.

Poppy - hope you get the routine sorted soon. Habit and routine are a big thing for me too. I am finding it much easier now to work out after work. It has taken me 4mths to get the habit tho

Have a good evening all!

Sarahlouboo · 22/10/2015 19:55

Yumyum and Only another person struggling with routine here! Have had a couple of days where I was busy after work. When I am in the zone I plan ahead and work out in the morning. Not this week! I had forgotten how hard it is to motivate yourself when it is dark driving home.

Purple glad you are feeling better! I thought I was coming down with a cold but it hasn't amounted to anything. I was almost willing myself to have an excuse to have a couple of duvet days. Damned immune system! I have finally joined in with the Gamma challenge - better late than never. Went for rip't - I love it but yes it is not very sweat inducing. Aiming to do pyramid tomorrow then others at the weekend. We'll see!

Boobz well done on the weight loss and you sound as though you are back in the groove exercise wise.

Welcome Mrs C Smile**

Glad you still out there and working out Jacksterbear Thanks

Hope I haven't missed anyone out. Am a little bored of T25 at the moment but not fit enough for Max 30. Thinking of doing Jillian Ripped in 30 for the next month.

Purpleraindeer · 22/10/2015 20:40

Sarah - go on - do max30 you know you want to......

I did pyramid tonight. Urgh. Arms were sore after ripd. Collapsed to knees when it got to the 7 press up set. Surely it's impossible to do them at the speed they do???

Off to see the inlaws for a week so not sure what work outs I'll manage. Taking trainers tho so hopefully will do something. Maybe even some running depending on the weather. Mind you, it is Scotland so the weather is bound to be rubbish!

TheFormidableMrsC · 23/10/2015 09:34

Morning all. I hate Insanity. That is all. ...

Sarahlouboo · 23/10/2015 10:34

Grin MrsC!

Well done on pyramid Purple. I just find that one boring. But not easy. What did you think Boobz? Regarding Insanity Max 30, I found it really hard a couple of months ago when I would say I was fitter than I am now. Not just hard as in a bit challenging, hard as in I wanted to puke afterwards. And I have a funny thing about my heart since my Dad died, have become hyper aware of palpitations which probably always had but I do worry about doing anything ridiculous or my heart rate. I know it is silly and probably all in my head. But I thought if I do JM Ripped for a month which is fairly cardio then I could have another go at Max 30 in time for Xmas [santa]

Sarahlouboo · 23/10/2015 10:35

Oh for heavens sake why does my phone do that?!

Boobz · 23/10/2015 17:45

Sorry - children and guests stopping me getting to Pyramid - will defo do it tomorrow.

Sarahlouboo · 23/10/2015 17:58

Did gamma rip't circuit as didn't fancy pyramid. Now for Thai and wine! Wine

Jacksterbear · 23/10/2015 20:59

Hey all. Are you doing Gamma just this week or for longer? I will join you after half term of you're still doing it then. Have done t25 alpha cardio today and enjoyed it. Off away for the Half term week tmrw. Have lacked exercise wear and 2 DVDs: t25 speed 1.0 / TBC, and the PiYo disc with core, legs, and strength intervals. So 5 workouts total which I hope to get through while on hols!

MrsC well done on hanging in there. Much as I hate to be defeatist, I personally find Insanity too much for me to do regularly - I do it occasionally when I am feeling up to it. Could you maybe do some other slightly less hideous workouts to build your fitness back up to Insanity levels, if you're really struggling with it?

Sarah I love a bit of JM Ripped so may join you on occasion after HT, alongside some Gamma action!

Purple have a good week at the ILs and do try to do some exercise if poss - what could be lovelier than running in the fresh Scottish air?!

poppy, only, Boobz and anyone else I've missed: waves and high 5s. Have a good HT. Smile

Jacksterbear · 23/10/2015 21:01

I have packed exercise wear not lacked it - important distinction! Grin

Boobz · 24/10/2015 07:32

I am doing Gamma pyramid today. I might do gamma again next week but skipping ript as didn't really like that one - anyone suggest another T25 one to do instead of ript? How many T25s are there (am guessing alpha, beta and Gamma and there are 4 of each?) Is gamma supposed to be the hardest or are they just different?

I have been doing the fasting every other day but feel like I may have undone all the week's good work in one day yesterday, as DH, my friend visiting and I went on a food tasting tour of Rome! It was amazing finding these tucked away (un-touristy) places in Trastevere but god it didn't help my waistline! Back on the fast today - will weight myself tomorrow to see if I have kept that kilo off!

Will report back after pyramid.

Boobz · 24/10/2015 09:17

Ok so Pyramid done. I think it was quite good - but it put me off that it wasn't the same amount in each pyramid, and also all the counting. SHUT UP!

Tanya looks hotter in T25 than Insanity

I quite liked it - I got to 7 press ups and then had to go to my knees.

I can see how this one would be a really good measure of your fitness improving - how far you get up the pyramid before modifying/breaking etc. And then doing the whole thing perfectly. I might make that a goal.

So yeah, I liked it.

What weights do y'all use?

So is that the Gamma challenge done? Do I get to set one now?

The Boobz challenge:
1 week: 5 work outs, 1 rest, 1 yoga and 1 fast day (max 500 calories)

  • The work outs can be any of Insanity month 1 or 2, or Gamma Speed 2.0 (but not including Insanity cardio recovery or max recovery) AND must include 1 x Insanity Pure cardio
  • Yoga can be anything (not even Beach body related) but bonus points for doing Tony's mega P90X yoga video (1.5 hours!)

I will start tomorrow with Insanity Cardio Power and Resistance and a fasting day to kick off the week.

Who's in?

EleanorAbernathy · 25/10/2015 01:18

creeping in softly so no-one notices I was gone.....

I'm now about 6 weeks into the Body Coach, I'm avoiding the scales but have a 26 inch waist :) (It was 29" before Insanity, 27.5" afterwards)I've not been doing any Beachbody stuff as it's a bit hard to fit in at the moment - month 2 is shorter cardio sessions with weights in between, so part of me hurts to buggery all the time right now! I'll be going back to Max:30 when I've finished this I think.

I've been bad this week - 2 night shifts and people brought in cakes on BOTH - at the wrong time of month for me so I succumbed. Then we had a bit of good news - DP has been off work sick for a while but he's finally feeling well enough to go back and been given the OK - plus they're giving him full pay from the week before! So we went out to celebrate. I don't think that amount of gin is on the plan - but never mind, I made up for it in the gym today Grin

I have finally mastered the art of making protein pancakes that don't look like gooey blobs, the food on the Body Coach plan is amazing and I feel like I should have doubled in size with the amount I'm having :)

And finally - if anyone's using weights, Argos have a great deal on adjustable dumbbells at the moment - 2 for £40. :)
