Hi all, I've just realised I maxed out our thread by posting the 1000th post earlier so I thought I should start a new one!

Hoping you all find me here...

I didn't do the double. I totally played the cancer card and said chemo-brain meant I had double booked so they gave me my credit back and I did just the 7:10am class (nice people, them Barry's lot). And I did rather well at it, given I was expecting it to be hard having not worked out all last week.

My Hb levels are getting low again - really low. They let me have chemo but said I might need a blood transfusion again to boost the Hb. Which is ace as last time I felt AMAZING and was flying on the treadmills! So have booked myself into a half marathon trail run in Siena a week on Saturday, which will be a couple of days after the transfusion... I have done quite a few half marathons and they've been fine, but the one half marathon TRAIL run I did was pretty epic for a lot of reasons. Am hoping this one isn't as hard! Am I mad for contemplating doing 22km up and down hill on chemo? I'm hoping the fresh blood gives me the super powers I need like it did last time!

Sorry to hear it wasn't as much fun the second time purple. I thought our instructor Olly was particularly good - I worked hard in that session (probably mainly just in case you looked over as saw me ;) but also because I think he was good at his job and I liked the routine he set. My favourite is Faisal I think, for the work out content, and Taylor for the motivational quotes: "TRY HARDER: IF GIVE WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS GIVE, you'll GET WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS GOT" etc. Cheesy, but surprisingly motivating when it's being screamed at you on the spring section of treading... awww, make sure you aren't put off Purple and come again! Any chance you can come to a lunchtime session next Wednesday (23rd)? I happen to be in town again for an extra day post chemo... we could do the 12:30 with Sonja - try a lady? Let me know and I can book for us both (there is space and I have credits...)

Interesting to hear that about being better than the rest Edmund - I was just so very pleased to beat Tanya on the fit test but beating real other people would probably be even better...

Jackster - well done on spinning - I have never done that - am not much of a cyclist...

Let me know purple!

Boobz · 16/09/2015 21:54

*sprint, not spring!

Purpleraindeer · 17/09/2015 08:27

Don't worry boobz I'm not put off, but prob won't go to a jay class again. As DH pointed out, he can laugh at me being unable to do exercises for free! I really would love to do a lunchtime class but my work is such that it's not really practical. And from my past experience I'd be too knackered afterwards to get thru the afternoon!
Trail half mara sounds lovely. I love trail runs and the good thing about them is they're never pb courses so I find it easier not to obsess about my time. are you going to do some long runs over the next week to make sure your legs have the stamina? I'm assuming your super transfusion will mean your cardio vascular system will be up to the job!

Was quite sore in my legs after Barry's and then did tabata strength last night. this has evened things up and now I'm sore in my arms and shoulders too!

Boobz · 17/09/2015 08:47

Awww - gutted I can't convince you along to a lunch time session!

I will go for a long run weekend I think - 15km or so, just to remind myself how to do it. The girl who I have signed up with is only aiming to finish in 2hr 30mins so I think I will be ok not to feel rushed! Dh running it too and will do it in 1.45 or so I think, maybe quicker (ex marine). I would be happy with under 2.15 given it's trail and I am on chemo (and out of long distance running practice - if I was fit I would be aiming for 1:45).

Glad to hear you ache all over! I was supposed to do an Insanity this morning but I couldn't get to sleep until 3am last night so have given up on that idea.

Purpleraindeer · 18/09/2015 19:35

It's quiet on here!
Had lent t25 to a friend and got it back today. Did beta dynamic core as I'd forgotten what that one was. Those b@stard bicycle legs/v hold are still impossible!

Sarahlouboo · 18/09/2015 19:58

Well hello there! Been avoiding exercise this week and consequently the thread but back to it tonight with a little Gamma Rip't up. Ow ow ow! Can tell I haven't been properly working put for a while! What with one thing and another and holidays, haven't been regularly exercising for at least a month and a half. Ready to get back to it now and loving reading the thread, especially motivational pep talk from Ed and Purple! Needed that, thank you!

Boobz - hope the trail run goes well you nutter! ??

Eleanor - is Body Coach working out for you?

Hi to everyone else. Only - we will get back on it in no time!

onlywhenyouleave · 18/09/2015 21:36

Evening Smile

purple omg, the bicycle legs/v hold is one of the hardest exercises! Can do 2 sets and then have to have a break (and that is with modifying Blush) I am doing dynamic core tomorrow.

sarah we can help each other get back into it...I seem to have the right mindset now but work is seriously getting in the way at the moment

Boobz · 19/09/2015 08:26

So it seems I should not go below 55kg or else my new boobs will not fit very well. Surgeon has advised NOT dieting like mad and getting down to 50kg as I have been trying to before November.

So I had a massive pizza yesterday.

Am going to to Insanity Pure Cardio to try and make up for it a little.

No more weigh ins.

Purpleraindeer · 19/09/2015 09:44

Only - I didn't even manage one set of the bicycles/v sit!! Blush

Welcome back Sarah - felt like a while since you posted. I think ripd up is the hardest gamma for us girls as its so arm focussed.

Boobz - I like the fact that your response to being told not to diet was to have a pizza. I'd have done the same!

Don't think I'll be working out today what with one thing and another. Might try a double tomorrow....or might wimp out. We'll see

Boobz · 19/09/2015 10:07

I felt bad straight afterwards though - it wasn't even good pizza. I am so conditioned not to eat carbs, that a whole pizza feels more poisonous than chemotherapy (I know, I have ishoos).

Anyway, Pure Cardio done, and a half of cardio abs. My Hb level is probably somewhere in the red zone now, so I didn't push myself too hard as don't want to collapse from lack of O2!

I miss my abs. Can't wait for this cancer shit to be over and I can get back to where I left off in March, aiming for 15% body fat and generally working out like a beast!

EleanorAbernathy · 19/09/2015 14:34

Hi everyone - not been on much, as I've not done much Max:30 - I did one of Joe Wicks' sessions yesterday and felt a bit guilty, like I was cheating on Shaun T! I think I prefer Max:30 anyway, I've been doing a lot of HIIT sessions on the treadmill as my exercise and finally managed to get my 5k time down to under 30 minutes! Grin

Boobz good look with the run - I would not even be able to THINK about a 1:45 time, however healthy I am! I was aiming for 02:30 on my first half marathon (flat city course) so was really pleased with my 02:10 despite a toilet break on the way round.

Sarah - I LOVE the body coach so far. I'm avoiding the scales now until I've done the first cycle so not sure how effective - I do love the food though, and have been doing a mega batch cook on my days off so I have enough meals to easily take to work and heat up.

I am being bad tonight - it's DP's birthday so we are going out for a curry. Don't tell Joe or Shaun! I am also planning a drink or 3 - I've just done my treadill HIIT though and we're going on a 7 mile walk first so I'm not too worried.

swampytiggaa · 19/09/2015 17:32

Hi everyone! Did day one week four of t25 alpha today. Most of alpha is OK but really struggling with the abs workouts :( considering getting hiphop abs to go along with t25 instead.

I feel like a right slacker compared to you all tho!

Sarahlouboo · 20/09/2015 08:40

Hi Swampy - you are not a slacker, we are all working at the edge of our fitness and I still find some of the so called easier workouts really tough, partly because I can do more than I used to but also partly because there is no such thing as an easy Shaun T workout! I did T25 Alpha Cardio yesterday and really enjoyed it (well maybe that is a slight exaggeration, I enjoyed feeling as though I was back in the groove though. I hate those b***d high knee jogs/high switch kicks though and always will Grin). I haven't done the abs ones for a while but I remember feeling as though I wasn't really getting a workout because I couldn't do most of it! Must give it a whirl again.

Been co-opted into a game of Top Trumps, back in a bit...!

Sarahlouboo · 20/09/2015 12:43

Hi again.

Boobz you will have to find something else to indulge in if you have been told not to lose too much weight - my dream scenario! I have no doubt you will be exercising like a beast in the not too distant future (you already are from my perspective!)

Eleanor glad that you are enjoying the Body Coach and intrigued to find out your 1 month results when you get them. Did you tell them you would be doing T25 alongside it? Hope you enjoyed the curry.

Only is work physically getting in the way of exercise or just sapping your motivation? Both are hard to deal with. I keep intending to exercise first thing as I find that such a boost for the rest of the day but I am hardwired to exercise later on in the day now. Going for a run later. Shoulders are aching like mad. Purple Ikwym about Gamma R'ipt Up but it is one of my favourites and I credit it with giving me half decent shoulders for the summer. Shame about my tummy area. That is the goal for next summer...

Hi everyone else and hope you are all feeling good and looking fine Grin; you should be with all this effort!

onlywhenyouleave · 20/09/2015 19:22

Evening

boobz I dream of the day I get told to put weight on Grin although I realise my mindset is totally different to yours. Guess you have to trust the professionals Smile

swampy you are not a slacker (or if you are, I am too!) You are still exercising more than most people but I often feel inferior to the hardcore people on this thread but I am not built to be hardcore Wink

sarah it is actual work getting in the way as I am on a project at the mo which involves evening work on top of my day job Hmm plus I am trying to slot in high school open evenings for DS1!

I haven't Shaun T'd this weekend but did do a 4k run last night and an 8k walk today. Dynamic core tomorrow.

have decided to do 1 x cardio workout, 1x circuit workout, 1x abs workout and then 1x arms workout and just repeat this pattern mixing up the workouts - does that sound ok? Which category do you think Pyramid falls into?

Purpleraindeer · 20/09/2015 21:06

Hello!
Eleanor - what is joe wicks? I'm looking for new workouts to give me some variety. Glad you're enjoying body coach. I like the idea in theory but I know I'd find the practicalities around the cooking difficult.

Only - your schedule sounds good. I like the idea of a structure but with some flexibility. I think pyramid is a circuit workout. Don't they say 3 weeks makes a habit? It's so difficult when work gets in the way of things isn't it - sounds like you're pretty busy at the mo so don't beat yourself up about not working out enough, you'll get back into it again when you have more time.

I'm back at work full time next week. Am dreading it. It feels like the end of maternity leave forever as I know we're not going to have more. Just retirement to look forward to now.....Shock. I didn't do my double today as I ran out of time. I did do sweat intervals which I find hard, so I count that as 1.5x workout....

EleanorAbernathy · 21/09/2015 14:28

Purple - Joe Wicks is the Body Coach dude, he has quite a few workouts on his YouTube channel. I just did his "Get Lean HIIT Workout" - but it didn't feel long enough so I did some pushups and tricep dips after (I don't want to lose my ability to do full pushups as it took long enough to get there!) then 10 minutes of intervals on the treadmill to get me up to 30 minutes.
Here's the Youtube link :)

I just measured myself and I'm exactly the same - but that's OK as I've still been eating more and working out less (and went out for a curry and a few drinks on Saturday!)

yumyumpoppycat · 22/09/2015 08:19

Hello lovelies .. sorry I have been awol. I have done a workout this am, non BB kettlebell core one, only 25 mins and no need for bra or trainers etc to ease myself back in! Def found it harder than usual. Lots on at mo but will do a proper reply later hopefully.

Boobz · 22/09/2015 10:58

Hello all. In the chemo chain so must be chemo day again. Only 3 more fuckers to go though!

Missed Barry's this morning - the first one I have just bailed out on - was too tired this morning and think my HB levels must be at an all time low - am about to get my bloods back now so will know soon whether I need a transfusion tomorrow (thinking and hoping I will, as it really pepped me up last time!)

Getting fatter. Trying not to let it bother me. I really really can't wait until the surgery is over and I can start getting back to the old me - I am so over this cancer rubbish.

Welcome back yumyum.

Jacksterbear · 22/09/2015 13:16

Boobz hope chemo goes ok today. Are there other goals you can focus on in the meantime (other than weight, I mean) - maybe strength-related ones?

Poppy well done for getting back on it.

Purple good luck with the return to work.

Have been mixing it up exercise-wise. Combo of JM DVDs, PiYo, and gym classes (spin, combat, pump). Have done a double gym class this morning (spin & pump) and think I will ache tomorrow!

Life is tough at the moment, crap time with DS & school. Exercise is keeping me sane - just!!

High fives to you all. Smile

Boobz · 22/09/2015 14:11

I am jealous of your double class Jackster! I think all goals are out of the window at the moment, as I am not exercising that much either, as well as eating badly. Piss and moan!

Chemo cancelled today as both HB and platelets too low (boo!) but this means I will have blood transfusion tomorrow (yay!) so I am booking into Barry's next Tuesday as I am hoping I feel as amazing as I did last time I did a bit of blood doping. There are spots in the 8:20am class - I am about to book for me and a friend (who is my gay BFF - I love him to pieces) - does anyone else want to join? Purple, Yumyum perhaps?

Hope things get better for your DS jackster - do you want to talk about it?

Purpleraindeer · 22/09/2015 21:44

Hello all
Couldn't get on here yesterday. Was mumsnet down again?
Boobz you sound fed up. Are there other things you could do to fill the time you were exercising? You strike me as someone who needs a focus. What about some other type of physical activity you haven't done before. Swimming? yoga?
Jackster - am glad exercising is helping. I've had a few horrendous days at work and I have to say it's only cuddles from the kids plus some energetic work outs that have prevented me turning to cake/drinks!
I've gone old school and am doing some t25 again. Lower focus tonight. I kid myself that t25 is easy and then remember that it is not after about 5mins. My legs were burning tonight. Am worried about stairs tomorrow!
I'm trying to think of a new challenge. My current thought is some sort of adventure/obstacle race. I've done them before and the muddier the better!

Purpleraindeer · 23/09/2015 06:29

Boobz - sorry I wasn't ignoring re Barry's. I can't do next tues as I'm out of London that day. Shame tho. I'm not doing a Barry's this week as DH can't get back for the kids and I think next week might be the same.

yumyumpoppycat · 23/09/2015 08:17

Sorry Boobz i do the school run on both work and non work days, and actually work in zone 6. Would take me an hour prob door to door from home so its logistics! I have my pass for one lesson though so will defo try to come at some point if times work out.

yumyumpoppycat · 23/09/2015 10:18

Still need to properly say well done to everyone! Just a quick update that I have just done Turbofire HIIT 15 and stretch 10 and they were quite different and fun but HIIT was too jumpy for me to properly go all out as worried for my pelvic floor Blush I found speed 2.0 got better on that front so fingers crossed for next time

Hope transfusion goes well Boobz. What about trying to cook/eat really delicious (and healthy if you can be bothered) food as a focus as you can't lose weight?
