Hi all, I've just realised I maxed out our thread by posting the 1000th post earlier so I thought I should start a new one!

Hoping you all find me here...

Glad you had a good run sarah, will also be thinking of you tomorrow.

Spooky must be extra motivation knowing hols on horizon!

Purpleraindeer · 09/08/2015 19:26

Good run Sarah! It's good to go fast sometimes. I hope tomorrow gives you some peace. Flowers

Yes I finished gamma week spooky and I enjoyed it so much I invested in heavier weights so I can do it again and get a bit more benefit from it hopefully. I figured after all of the body weight exercises I was dying so it must be doing me good! Am thinking about doing a hybrid gamma/max30. Not sure when I'll start. We've had a sickness bug here so I've not exercised (or really eaten) over the weekend. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow!

19 days till holiday! Yay. Why don't you set up a hybrid on that workout scheduler site and just do the first 2 weeks of it?

Have a good evening all.

Boobz · 10/08/2015 07:54

Glad to hear you are doing ok (or as ok as you can be) Sarah. I hope it's as good a day as it can be today.

I use the 8kg (both!) for the P90X moves where I can then only do 8-10 reps (e.g. Swimmer's Press or Bicep Curls). I really struggle on the last 2 reps - like Tony does - I grunt and it hurts and I sweat. When I was just using the 4kg weights, I could do 8-10 reps without it really making me sweat, IYSWIM. So DH took it upon himself to order me some 8kg ones last year and I have been using them ever since! I use the 4kg for moves like tricep kickbacks (smaller muscle groups). Having said all that I only use 5 or 6kg when at Barry's Bootcamp, but then I find that workout harder as you have to go way beyond 8-10 reps during the floor section for each muscle group.

So am a full week of P90X down, I would say I have followed the Zone about 85% of the time (just the damn wine getting in the way!). I was away camping over the weekend with friends so I could have fallen off the wagon completely, but I made my friend do an Insanity work out (don't have any P90X ones on my phone) and we both nearly passed out as it was about 40 degrees in the Italian hills with no shade! She has NOT been converted into a Shaun T fan (she does Zumba - I hate Zumba).

Yay for holidays coming up. Where is everyone going/gone?

Weigh in update:
#1 (Mon 3rd Aug) 59.5kg
#2 (Mon 10 Aug) 58.2kg (1.3kg down week on week)

Fly to London today, chemo tomorrow, and then Sienna with the family and some friend Weds - Sun. MUST NOT DRINK VATS OF WINE.

About to do P90X Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X.

BRING IT.

EleanorAbernathy · 11/08/2015 12:12

Hello everyone - I am 8 STONE 9!!!!!! I haven't been 8 stone 9 for years!
(It might sound low but I am a shortarse with a tendency to look chunky at anything over a BMI of 23!)

Boobz - I did take before pictures, I might post them if I'm brave and I don't have any pizza or Kit Kat Chunkies (my weakness!) before the after pics!
I keep trying to get DP to try Insanity - he's never believed in workout DVDs and had some idea they were just like watching the telly - he's changed his mind a bit after seeing the sweaty mess I am in after a workout. Not been able to persuade him to try it yet though!

Sarah - hope yesterday went as well as could be Flowers

It was the killer Insanity day for me yesterday, with the fit test AND an hour long workout - I was quite proud and managed to kick my own arse in eery single fit test exercise - and Tania's in a couple too (ha!) Grin
Just getting hydrated now ready to do Max Interval Plyo. I think I'll replace Max Recovery (all kinds of stretchy sweary hell) with Core Cardio and Balance again this week - just noticed it's like that in the final week anyway.

Oh and my cat is STUPID. He joined me on the treadmill again last week at 12km/h - thankfully he got on behind me instead of in front of me this time! He spent the rest of my run (after flying off the back again) glaring at the treadmill with a funny arched back. I'd like to think he's learned now, but I thought that the last time........

spookyskeleton · 11/08/2015 17:12

Sarah how are you doing?

Eleanor you are doing so well - you can sit on the hardcore bench with Boobz Grin

Boobz well done on the weight loss Smile

Has anyone done the 21 day fix series? I came across it whilst browsing on VK - some of the workouts seem very hardcore but I did like the look of the yoga one. Am after a different 'stretch' workout as, although I love Shaun T's one, I could do with some variation. What are the other workouts like - the ones I watched didn't have any modifications Hmm

Have decided I am going to aim to do one speed cardio, one circuit, one upper strength and one abs workout each week until my holidays. However, I am not going to do TBC as I watched it the other night and it just looked really uninspiring - I had forgotten how boring it was as well as being extremely difficult so am going to stick with Rip'T circuit and Extreme Circuit.

Bit of a NSV today - wore a skirt to work that I could not do up 3 months ago. It was a bit tight round the waist so got a bit uncomfortable as the day wore on but nonetheless, I wore it and it zipped up Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 11/08/2015 18:48

Spooky and Eleanor well done Star Star

No experience of 12 day fix but I have ordered a cheapo copy of slim in 6!

Rest day today and dc having a sleepover with grandparents woop!

yumyumpoppycat · 11/08/2015 18:51

Oh and seriously impressed about 8kg dumbells boobz. Dp is vetoing 6kg one so I am going to have to keep dipping into the 8kg kettlebell but it is heavvvvvvy!

Purpleraindeer · 11/08/2015 20:56

You must be pleased re the weight loss boobz. Hope the chemo is ok. How is your hair?

Eleanor - yay re the weight! Well done for kicking annoying Tanias butt too.

and spooky good work on the nsv! That 5:2 is really working for you.

I've started my max30/gamma hybrid. Today was supposed to be sweat intervals but I thought I'd substitute for the mth 2 version - max out sweat. OHMIGOD!!!! It was HORIFFIC. I was tired after about 2mins and by 18mins I was regularly stopping. I did get thru it but am broken now. I think I may have been kidding myself that running and gamma would keep me at the same fitness level as max30. On the bright side I guess that means this schedule will be v good for me?
My new weights have arrived but are now marooned at the post office until I can get them on thurs. I'm impatient. I want them now!

yumyumpoppycat · 11/08/2015 22:00

What weights did you get purple? Gamma and insanity max 30 should be an epic schedule - Max shaunT!!! Ps hows work going.

Purpleraindeer · 12/08/2015 11:18

Argh - replied earlier then stupid website went down and lost my post Angry

I have got 4kg weights. I'm not (yetWink) ready for 8kg

Work is fine. I love 3dpw. I just wish I didn't have to go back to 5......Sad

Boobz · 12/08/2015 11:35

Eleanor - post the pics! And I hope your cat is ok.

Spooky - I am so far away from being able to do up my favourite skirt - real motivation though for me to get it done by end of Oct!

Yum - my DH is into kettlebells - I will post a pic though of what I would have to swing if I borrowed his (you can't read the weight on the photo but it is 24kg - I have tried to give a sense of scale!) I can't lift it let alone swing it.

Purple yes am pleased with weight loss so far - but need to keep it up! Am about to do P90X Legs and Back today (and Ab Ripper X) before heading to Siena for a few days with the fam. Chemo has been ok, and I still have hair although it is thinning a bit :(

Boobz · 12/08/2015 11:49

EdmondDantes · 12/08/2015 14:01

Hello everyone. General applause to everyone.

Purple - I hope you have recovered. I did the month 2 fit test a week ago and it simply blew me away. I presume you have already completed the straight program if you are doing hybrid workouts now.

Boobz - great work seriously impressed by your efforts/results. Is that your husbands biggest KB? I went on a course with a body weight specialist ( I was only not PT there) and he was doing single leg pistol squats with 2 48kg KBs. I can't even do one with out the weight as being a boy I have not worked on hip flexor flexibility. It's one of my goals post finishing max30 along with doing a flag.

Purpleraindeer · 13/08/2015 14:41

Ed - you sound like you're an experienced weights person. What is a pistol squat? And what is a flag?

Picked up my weights today! Had to do a work out at lunchtime today whilst kids are napping as they were both doing my head in so needed to work off some frustration! Turns out gamma extreme circuit is a lot harder with 4kg weights!! I doubt I'll be lifting anything heavier than my own arm tomorrow as I'm already feeling sore. It must be doing me good tho.

Boobz - your dh's kettle bell is mental. That is 2 toddlers!

spookyskeleton · 13/08/2015 17:26

Purple maybe I will also try Extreme Circuit with 4kg weights...not sure I am brave enough though Grin

Ed I know what a pistol squat is (although I have never attempted one) but what is a 'flag'?

Hi everyone else - how are the workouts going? I am having a day off today Smile

EdmondDantes · 13/08/2015 17:29

Purple

If this works. Pistol squat with KB. This was the bloke I did training with where I was the only non PT. Finally flag.

Purple - iff it doesn't hurt then your body is not changing. Or so I tell myself.

The flag - OMG Shock Shock

EdmondDantes · 13/08/2015 21:09

Spooky - I know but am a long way off. It's going to be a lot of strength and core work.

Purpleraindeer · 14/08/2015 12:08

Flag?? Omg. that doesn't even look possible!

Sarahlouboo · 14/08/2015 13:32

Hey everyone, am back home. I have read through your posts with interest and I will join in with conversation from here. I did Max 30 Tabata Power with DH yesterday. Can't say for sure when maxed out as had to keep pausing with various interruptions but found it very challenging and aching today! Ran 3 miles today. Good to be exercising again. Dad died of massive heart attack. Wasn't massively unhealthy and gave up smoking years ago but damage already been done obviously. He was only 69. So...even more reason to stay fit and healthy!

yumyumpoppycat · 14/08/2015 17:48

{{hugs}} sarah,so sad about your dad and and also that it was sudden and that there were no warning signs.

I am hoping to lose 10lbs then get back to IM30 - there should be quite a few of us doing it by then.

Boobz yikes that is one big kettlebell, my dp is well impressed your dh lifts that!!

Does anyone use a fit bit or calorie/HR monitor..I have been thinking about getting one to help me focus and work harder where necc. Might wait for this one to go down in price www.amazon.co.uk/Polar-A300-Heart-Activity-Tracker/dp/B00VRYOP8Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439570776&sr=8-1&keywords=polar+watch

Purpleraindeer · 15/08/2015 08:07

Hi Sarah. Nice to see you back. That's awful about your dad. It is scary how suddenly it can happen

Poppy I was going to get one of the fit bits which clip to a bra. I don't like those ones on the wrist as they feel a bit obvious.

Did max 30 cardio challenge last night. After all of the chat we had about what maxing out is I concentrated on doing the moves absolutely as fast as I could and not stopping and I got to the end without maxing out so I was pleased with that. Mind you, I needed to - ate a million biscuits, chocolate and cake yesterday Grin

Fun that so many of us are going to be doing max30 soon!

Jacksterbear · 15/08/2015 08:35

Hey all. Just checking in from half way through my holiday. Have worked out x5 this first week which I'm pretty pleased with myself about. T25 x1, PiYo x2, tabata circuits using phone timer app x2.

Am seriously impressed by all the heavy weights you guys are using! I use 3kgs mostly - have to drop down to 2kgs for some stuff. Am an upper body weakling! I could probably manage 3.5 kgs but it seems a waste buying more weights with such a small increase. Maybe I will take the plunge and get some 4s like Purple!!

Eleanor and Boobz well done on your weightloss, and spooky on the skirt NSV. Star

Sarah what a shock re your dad. Flowers

Ed Shock re those pics!!

poppy how are you doing?

EdmondDantes · 15/08/2015 10:09

purple- you must be seriously fit as even Shaun t needs a break. We have our own inspiration on here. When do you release your video?

Purpleraindeer · 15/08/2015 18:37

Glad you're having a good hol jacksster. That's a lot of workouts!

Ed - max30 is designed so that you can finish cardio challenge by the time you have finished 2mths I think? I reckon being able to finish Friday fight without maxing is a real achievement - that's one of my goals. I'm a way off that yet. Did max out strength today. Holy crap - that's a lot of press ups!

Have a good evening all Grin
