Hi all, I've just realised I maxed out our thread by posting the 1000th post earlier so I thought I should start a new one!

Hoping you all find me here...

Hello! Just started T25 and really enjoying it. No weight loss goals as I have a history of an ED, and DH is completing it with me to keep an eye on me.

I've loved reading this thread and already excited about working out tonight!

yumyumpoppycat · 05/08/2015 11:20

Welcome Scary Grin

Edmond my main goal is to lose about another 20 lbs - quite a lot really. argh. Like you guys have said that's mainly diet though. Would be nice to be able to do proper push-ups - I guess that is a fitness goal.

Overall I just want to incorporate exercise long term for health and fitness generally, apparently exercise is good for preventing illnesses like Alzheimers too - my memory is rubbish so anything that can waken up some of my befuddled grey matter is worth a shot!

Spooky I tried to do a 500 cal fast yesterday - I turned into a monster! - dd was saying I was mean and ds said 'mummy are you stressed?'... maybe I should try again after the holidays.

Boobz · 05/08/2015 13:48

Fitness goals are further up the thread - I did collate them into a spreadsheet (geek) but my laptop died and I lost it!

Er, did anyone else realise that Edmund was a boy? I know it should have been obvious and all, what with the name! Nice to have a guy on the journey!

spookyskeleton · 05/08/2015 14:49

Scary welcome to the T25 journey - what are you up to so far? Which is your favourite workout?

Edmund my goal is to get down to a size 12 (I am currently a size 16) so I think I need to lose about 3 stone to get there (I don't own any scales so I am doing it all by how my clothes feel!). I am totally rubbish at controlling my diet so I am doing it with the 5:2 diet as I only need to watch what I eat twice a week (and yes, I know this is not the best way as it is not actually educating me but it is working Grin)

Purple how is gamma going? I have not done anything since Monday morning due to plans with the children - my aim is to do Extreme Circuit tonight but this is dependent on DH getting home in time to take DS1 to football otherwise I will have to do it and then it will be too late Hmm

On the plus side, I had promised the DC KFC for lunch today but DS2 threw up at about 11 so I cancelled the trip and had spaghetti hoops on toast instead...probably saved zillions of calories Grin

Yumyum I would say the fast days get easier but I have good ones where I breeze through it and bad ones where I have to use every ounce of willpower (and even then I cave into a chocolate bar Blush). I have also discovered it is easier to do fast days at work as I have no patience with the kids and their demands and it isn't fair on them.

Purpleraindeer · 05/08/2015 21:02

Hi scary - hope you enjoyed t25 tonight. How far through it are you?

Spooky - I did extreme circuit this eve. I enjoyed it but I just don't feel like I worked out hard enough if there isn't loads of cardio. I can see that doing some strength stuff like this is really beneficial tho. I think I should do a hybrid of max30 and gamma maybe? I thought of you when I did the burpees on weights. Also wtf was that walking ski abs thing? I couldn't work it out.

Poppy - ha ha re your kids comments on the fast day. I'd be the same. I could only fast if totally removed from all other members of the human race!

Scarydinosaurs · 05/08/2015 21:10

Hello back at you! Very strange as I feel I know all of you from staying up and reading the thread.

Well, day three done tonight after a long day at the cricket and I am done in. About half way through I declared "I'm not nailing this".

However, I'm really excited about being able to one day do it properly. spooky my favourite one of the three has to be the first one, but obviously not a lot to choose from yet! I did have a serious gym addiction that I've had to go cold turkey on, but back when I did gym my favourite was spin and weights class. I like the absolutely shattered and muscle aching feeling!

spookyskeleton · 05/08/2015 21:46

scary by my calculations, you would have done total body circuit today?? If so, I don't think any of us nailed it first time and in my case, never Grin

purple I know exactly what you mean about the lack of cardio in extreme circuit but I did enjoy it tonight. Didn't realize how hard it would be to hold my weights at shoulder height for a whole minute - it bloody hurt! I didn't get the walking ski abs either - couldn't get my knees anywhere near my elbow and Tanya helpfully didn't modify that exercise Hmm

Pyramid tomorrow - love love love that one. Probably my fave out of all of T25 Smile

Scarydinosaurs · 05/08/2015 21:53

Yup- total body circuit. Bugger me, it's tough!

I did the modify for about 80% instead of my previous 40/50%. I've actually done days one and two twice as I begun and then got a terrible d&V virus for a week, so started again. I'm so pleased I did, as if I had gone cold into that, I don't think I would have made it to the end.

I'm not following the diet strictly, as I have a pretty low calorie intake anyway, but I am trying out a few of the recipes and have the blueberries with porridge oats and nut butter for tomorrow's breakfast. I'm stupidly excited about it!

Jacksterbear · 05/08/2015 22:03

Scary, welcome. TBC is hideous and I have to say, like spooky, I have never nailed it in 18 months of on-off T25-ing! In fact I think that was one of my goals - yet to be achieved!

Belated welcome to Ed from me. You were asking about PiYo - I am a PiYo fan but seem to be in minority! Took a while for me to get into it though. Boobz - ha! - yes I did assume Ed was male. Having said that, my own username sounds like it could be too (but I'm not Grin).

I'm so with those of you who get irritable beyond belief when hungry - even doing 1200 calories on MFP. Can't imagine 500!

Have done T25 beta rip't circuit, speed 2.0 and upper focus so far this week. Off on hold at weekend so may not be around for a while but rest assured I will be taking DVDs and will be exercising!

x

spookyskeleton · 05/08/2015 22:08

jackster have a good holiday Smile

scary TBC is definitely one of the hardest ones along with beta core cardio so don't beat yourself up. Both of those make me swear at the TV on a regular basis Wink

yumyumpoppycat · 06/08/2015 10:52

I did speed 1.0 just now, unfortunately dp called from work midway through and we had a mini row (largely my fault) which meant I couldn't focus properly for the last 10 mins ....think we have made up now. I am feeling a bit stressed by all the mess in our house and decorating to do, kids on screens etc....small stuff in the scheme of things...

spookyskeleton · 06/08/2015 19:16

yumyum interesting about the fasting and totm - what is the science behind it? Funnily enough I really struggled on Monday and my period started that night.

Well today's fast day has been so easy...I am on zero calories so far Grin mainly because I have been laid up in bed with a stomach bug and the worst stomach cramps ever Sad I feel like I have been hit by a bus!

On the downside, no workout for me though and I can't do it tomorrow night as I am out. purple it could be Monday before I finish my gamma week Blush

EleanorAbernathy · 06/08/2015 19:46

Hello!
Welcome Scary, I need to try not to mix you up with spooky !

Ed - My main goal is to get fitter and more toned, ut if I can lose the stubborn 4-6ish pounds that just will not go away whatever I do, it's a bonus! I'm having to sit on my hands not to try Max 30, it's been sitting looking at me since yesterday moring - but I only have 2 and a half weeks left of Insanity and I want to finish that first.

I learned from my mistakes this week - I HATE Max Recovery, so I did Core Cardio and Balance today instead, and some treadmill sprints after - it was much better and I didn't swear! Grin

Scarydinosaurs · 06/08/2015 21:02

Well, thanks for the reassurance, but I worry that I was so overwhelmed at how shit my body is at balancing/moving/flexing that I didn't try my best. Next week, next week I shall do a better job at failing to nail it!

Today was the abs. Jesus wept. I also really struggled with where to put my laptop, started off on the table, then a chair and then the floor- so time wasted doing that and I was getting really cross at how poor my form was. The simplest things like the v shape hold, that I used to be able to do with nonchalance, now has my back hurting and me wobbling all over the place.

My baby is just six months, tell me I can put all this on pregnancy?? Please!!

On the plus side, I feel about a foot taller and stronger and less wobbly already.

Purpleraindeer · 06/08/2015 21:09

Spooky - poor you! Did gamma pyramid tonight. Quite enjoyed it. Am really missing cardio tho. Might sneak in a max30 tomorrow before I finish gamma week with core speed on sat/sun

Have a good hol jackster.

Eleanor - 2.5weeks of insanity to go! Wow. That will feel like a big achievement when it's done.

Have a good evening all!

Purpleraindeer · 06/08/2015 21:20

I've just ordered some 4kg Dumbbells. Gamma will be a lot harder once they arrive.....!

Scarydinosaurs · 06/08/2015 21:51

purple what is pyramid? I don't think I've done that yet, but they mentioned pyramids a lot in the work out tonight?

Boobz · 07/08/2015 09:59

I have 4kg and 8kg dumbbells for P90X. Did Shoulder and Arms on Wednesday and they are still hurting.

I just ordered some new scales as mine have finally given up the ghost - hope they are half decent. I still think I will buy that Skulpt fat measurer eventually but am so far away from goal of 15% body fat at the moment I don't think it's worth it yet!

So on Day 6 of P90X so far and am aching in all the right places. Weigh in on Sunday! Going camping with the kids and another family today - will take my phone with me so I can still do a work out (probably Insanity though as only have P90X on DVD).

Am all over MFP as well. Too much wine on there, I'm sure peeps will notice who I am friends with - but Dad is leaving today so hopefully that will go down now! Must try not to get sloshed with friends during camping weekend.

Elinor did you do before photos for Insanity?

Hope you are coping Sarah.

Purpleraindeer · 07/08/2015 19:37

8kg boobz??!! That's the weight of my 9mo ds! I find him really heavy, but now I come to think of it, he would provide good resistance for shoulder presses! Am kidding obv.

So, I finished gamma week. I cheated/introduced some variety by doing core speed not speed 3.0 and I think core speed was harder anyway. I did it using a video from VK. The video was a bit distorted and I wondered whether it was also speeded up as they were moving so fast. That may be wishful thinking tho.

Scary - the pyramid is one of the work outs in gamma so you'll get on to it after 2mths.

yumyumpoppycat · 07/08/2015 19:47

Purple is your inspiration for losing baby weight Eleanor her before and after pics might be on the old thread. 6 months defo counts - my baby is nearly 5!

Boobz 8 kg dumbells Shock do you use two at once ? I have been contemplating moving from my 4 kg to 8kg kettlebell but the 8 seems so heavy!!

Spooky this is the book but don't spend that much on it, ok for a £1 or £2 and the cover price on the version i have is £6.99 fast ... actually I can't find the paragraph it probably doesn't exist

''in the first half of your cycle the levels of estradiol, a type of oestrogen, slowly rise. Studies suggest that when oestrogen levels are high, appetite tends to be lower...a few days after your period could be the best time to begin fasting. In contrast the appetite increases after ovulation, Researchers...looked at ten different studies of energy intake across the menstrual cycle. They found women ate 87-500 extra calories a day on average in the second half of their menstrual cycle! However this didn't have a significant effect on their weight because metabolic rate is thought to increase." and later "If your fasting and find your appetite becomes insatiable consider limiting your fasts to days 1- 15 or incorporating some jucies to keep your leptin levels up". I guess another day would be to increase cals a bit on fasts in the week before your period?

spookyskeleton · 08/08/2015 08:38

scary the pyramid is a Gamma workout which is the third phase of T25. I love it!

yumyum that is really interesting and probably does explain why I really struggle on some fast days. However as my cycle is literally all over the place (tis my age Blush) that it is impossible to predict!

8kg weights?? I use 2.2kgs for the majority of the workouts but can use 4kgs for some moves.

Well the last 2 days have been great for the diet but pretty rubbish for me. Was supposed to be going out with friends last night for food and cocktails and I was really looking forward to it - got ready, got to the pub, had a few sips of wine and stomach cramps started again so I had to come home Sad

On the plus side, I don't have a hangover today so I can do a workout... pyramid here I come.

yumyumpoppycat · 08/08/2015 12:59

Ok so 8kg kettlebell is ok for swings with 2 hands but I will stick with 4kg for the one handed moves and the move where I rotate one around my head Grin Planning on TBC or kettlebell dvd using both kettlebells later.

Hope you got on ok with pyramid spooky, shame about your night out.

Hope everyone else doing ok, thinking of you sarah x

Sarahlouboo · 09/08/2015 09:13

Hello everyone, thank you ever so much for your kind words. We are OK. Funeral is tomorrow which I am dreading but it needs to happen sometime!

Have just had a quick read of your chat. Can't wait to get properly stuck into Max 30 when I get back home. Went for a run yesterday with DH and did 8 min miles - a PB for me. Really enjoyed it. Will catch up properly soon xx

spookyskeleton · 09/08/2015 11:37

Sarah thinking of you tomorrow Flowers

Finished my gamma week this morning with core speed - have really enjoyed this week Smile purple are you done?

I need some advice. I have 19 days before I go away so realistically about 12 t25 workout slots (I want to do some running as well). What do I do? Random selection? Start at the beginning of alpha and just work through them? Focus on the 'circuit' type ones?? I really dont know what is best to fill in this gap Confused Confused
