Hello all! I am going to be posting a lot more on here after a bit of a hiatus - not sure if y'all will think that is a good or a bad thing..
Edmond - a belated welcome from me. You asked a question about diet. It is MASSIVELY important - much more important than working out. I am a classic example - I have still been working out this past month (probably 3-5 Insanity/Barry's classes a week) and yet I have let the diet go totally to pot as my dad is visiting and we are eating out all the time, and we went to France for a week, and then I eat after a chemo session thinking "well I've just had chemo and a load of steroids put in there so I DESERVE a McDonalds etc. etc." - and the net result (after finally replacing the battery in my scales) is that I am the heaviest I have been for over a year. Yes, I am 59kg today and IT STOPS TODAY (hence me coming back on here with some vengeance!) So in short, yes diet is super important - about 80% of weight loss results most experts say.
Talking of diets - how is 5:2 going Spooky? I am tempted to combine The Zone and AND 5:2 for max results as quickly as possible...
Eleanor - not sure if I have said welcome yet. I am an Insanity fan, and have doing it for over a year (although have slacked off since BC diagnosis in March this year) and love it.
Sarahlou I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Randomly an old school teacher of mine died on Friday evening in a car crash which has rocked my old school friends and families.
Yum - I know I have said I was going to order Max 30 a few times and never did, but in my head maxing out is going at it HARD until you are SICK kind of thing, and therefore you shouldn't be able to finish a whole 30 min DVD... If you can finish it, then you aren't maxing out.... For example you get into a routine which you think you are maxing out at, but really you are just maintaining a rhythm to get to the end - I do that on my Insanity work outs... but when I do the Insanity Fit Test (esp when doing it against my DH) I really am trying to do as many as humanly possible and therefore really am maxing it - not only do I nearly throw up on those fit tests, I ache like buggery the next day which I don't with my current Insanity work outs... and more importantly I know that if I was asked to do 30 mins without stopping at the intensity I do in those fit tests, I know I would have to stop - I would max out - probably well before 30 mins is up! But I haven't tried it, so I might be talking out of my arse. I will order it.
Purple - I see you are starting a new regime today - me too!
So my laptop died and took our goals spreadsheet with it. My goal of 50kg by Aug 1st now feels like a terrible joke what with being 59 as of this morning... I blame my dad being here and eating out all the time with this lovely Roman food. I also blame Fullsteam for abandoning me and our hybrid. But it ends today! And no more chemo-eating excuses!
So have decided the following - shit or bust:
- P90X (yes, am going old school - it worked amazingly last time, and now I have a bit more time as have reduced my work hours
- The Zone (and maybe a couple of fast days thrown in for good measure
- Weekly weigh ins.
- Goal of 50kg by Oct 31 (which will be about 5 days pre surgery - want to be super fit to maximise recovery time)
Bye bye Shuan T - hello Tony!
