Hi all, I've just realised I maxed out our thread by posting the 1000th post earlier so I thought I should start a new one!

Hoping you all find me here...

lol @shaunT being too happy

spookyskeleton · 01/08/2015 16:49

yumyum you don't need to order gamma - that is what VK is for Wink

purple no idea about order of workouts as I don't have the program, wonder if it is on the internet??

Managed 7k this morning - furthest I have run for ages Smile

Purpleraindeer · 01/08/2015 18:09

Apparently this is week 1 of gamma

Day 71 Monday: Focus T25 Speed 3.0
Day 72 Tuesday: Focus T25 Rip’T Up
Day 73 Wednesday: Focus T25 Extreme Circuit
Day 74 Thursday: Focus T25 The Pyramid
Day 75 Friday: Focus T25 Speed 3.0

So that's what I'm going to do. I'll start tomorrow with my fave - speed 3.0! Burpee heaven......

I think my goal was to get thru Friday fight 2 without maxing. Clearly that is impossible..... Hmmm. Will try to at least manage Friday fight 1 for now. From memory I can get to c20mins so technically only 10mins to go!

Have a good eve all. I'm off out to drink cocktails and have fun! Grin

EleanorAbernathy · 01/08/2015 18:34

Shaun T IS too happy - especiallly when he says "I'm smiling cos I love it!" Grin

Well done everyone - high fives all round!

I've now finished the first week of scary Insanity month and still appear to be in one piece - and if I sort of wiggle from side to side I can almost see my abs!

I've also bitten the bullet and ordered Max 30 for when I finish. Still not sure about The Body Coach but it looks good from that thread, I've signed up for the free 14 day emails :)

Boobz · 02/08/2015 09:17

Hello all! I am going to be posting a lot more on here after a bit of a hiatus - not sure if y'all will think that is a good or a bad thing..

Edmond - a belated welcome from me. You asked a question about diet. It is MASSIVELY important - much more important than working out. I am a classic example - I have still been working out this past month (probably 3-5 Insanity/Barry's classes a week) and yet I have let the diet go totally to pot as my dad is visiting and we are eating out all the time, and we went to France for a week, and then I eat after a chemo session thinking "well I've just had chemo and a load of steroids put in there so I DESERVE a McDonalds etc. etc." - and the net result (after finally replacing the battery in my scales) is that I am the heaviest I have been for over a year. Yes, I am 59kg today and IT STOPS TODAY (hence me coming back on here with some vengeance!) So in short, yes diet is super important - about 80% of weight loss results most experts say.

Talking of diets - how is 5:2 going Spooky? I am tempted to combine The Zone and AND 5:2 for max results as quickly as possible...

Eleanor - not sure if I have said welcome yet. I am an Insanity fan, and have doing it for over a year (although have slacked off since BC diagnosis in March this year) and love it.

Sarahlou I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Randomly an old school teacher of mine died on Friday evening in a car crash which has rocked my old school friends and families.

Yum - I know I have said I was going to order Max 30 a few times and never did, but in my head maxing out is going at it HARD until you are SICK kind of thing, and therefore you shouldn't be able to finish a whole 30 min DVD... If you can finish it, then you aren't maxing out.... For example you get into a routine which you think you are maxing out at, but really you are just maintaining a rhythm to get to the end - I do that on my Insanity work outs... but when I do the Insanity Fit Test (esp when doing it against my DH) I really am trying to do as many as humanly possible and therefore really am maxing it - not only do I nearly throw up on those fit tests, I ache like buggery the next day which I don't with my current Insanity work outs... and more importantly I know that if I was asked to do 30 mins without stopping at the intensity I do in those fit tests, I know I would have to stop - I would max out - probably well before 30 mins is up! But I haven't tried it, so I might be talking out of my arse. I will order it.

Purple - I see you are starting a new regime today - me too!

So my laptop died and took our goals spreadsheet with it. My goal of 50kg by Aug 1st now feels like a terrible joke what with being 59 as of this morning... I blame my dad being here and eating out all the time with this lovely Roman food. I also blame Fullsteam for abandoning me and our hybrid. But it ends today! And no more chemo-eating excuses!

So have decided the following - shit or bust:

  1. P90X (yes, am going old school - it worked amazingly last time, and now I have a bit more time as have reduced my work hours
  2. The Zone (and maybe a couple of fast days thrown in for good measure
  3. Weekly weigh ins.
  4. Goal of 50kg by Oct 31 (which will be about 5 days pre surgery - want to be super fit to maximise recovery time)

Bye bye Shuan T - hello Tony!

spookyskeleton · 02/08/2015 13:53

boobz yay, you sound like a woman on mission! Am going to hang onto your coat tails and hope it rubs off on me Smile

The 5:2 diet is working well! No idea how much weight I have lost as I do not own scales so I can only go on clothes and the mirror Grin I am about 5 weeks in and can fit in clothes that wouldn't do up before, my double chin has definitely reduced and everything feels looser and more comfortable. It isn't the fastest diet in the world but I do pig out sometimes on my non-fast days but that suits me as I dont feel at all deprived.

That is all the positive stuff! However, I have been trying all my holiday clothes on from last year which all fit again (which is obviously great) but I have now realized that I am back to the same size I was last year on holiday which isn't great as firstly I felt very fat last year on holiday and secondly, it has made me realize just how much weight I have put on over the last 12 months Sad

Anyway I have 4 more weeks to go before my holiday so with a bit more effort on my non-fast ddays and consistent t25 action, I can shed a bit more weight and then refocus in September to get near my target size of a 12 - at least I know that I have found a diet that works and that I can do.

Sorry for the rambling Blush

spookyskeleton · 03/08/2015 09:14

I have started my gamma week - did core speed yesterday and am going to do Ript Up shortly Smile

Boobz · 03/08/2015 10:35

All sounds like a plan Spooky - make sure you concentrate on those 4 weeks! I totally let my diet go over the last 4 weeks and am playing major catch up to get back to where I was now.

How did Ript Up go?

I did P90X Chest and Back yesterday (which is a zillion press ups) and my arm pits are in agony today. Just did P90X Plyometrics which a the cardio routine (the other cardio one is Kempo which is a bit boring) and to be honest I didn't sweat as much as I do with Insanity. Am going to keep at it for a month but might switch to Insanity work outs for my cardio section of the week in month 2. I also need to do Ab Ripper X today to keep on schedule.

Am also now posting on MFP again - had 2 glasses or red wine last night and one square of dark chocolate, but then didn't eat dinner really, so just about balanced out!

Flying to London later today, and then Barry's bootcamp at 7am followed by chemo at 10am. And then don't get home until midnight, joy!

Where is everyone else?

Jacksterbear · 03/08/2015 15:32

Hey all. I'm still here, busy busy keeping the DCs entertained! Hope you're all surviving the school hols ok. Just to mix things up, I had a non-BB week last week - did a random mix of DVDs and YouTube stuff, including some Jillian Michaels.

This week I think I'll have a T25 beta week; then away on hols for 2 weeks so will probably take T25 alpha as no need for weights.

Will just post this and be back in a mo...

Sorry keep getting interrupted so posting as I go to avoid losing my half-typed posts!

Boobz, loving your focus! Eleanor bloody well done for getting started on Month 2. Keep going!

poppy I am v tempted by Gamma too! Think it will be in my autumn schedule - maybe we can start it together?

spooky it sounds like you are making such great progress - slow and steady and sustainable = definitely best!

Jacksterbear · 03/08/2015 15:48

Purple I hadn't realised how much weight you'd lost since Jan - do we get to see before and after pics? Flowers

Sarah how are you doing? Are you doing Max 30 this week?

Newrule · 03/08/2015 15:54

Marking place until I have a chance to comment.

EleanorAbernathy · 03/08/2015 18:12

I've been bad - was on a night shift last night and someone brought birthday food it - so I succumbed to the 3am sugary carb cravings and overindulged Blush

So I've just done Max Cardio Conditioning - which has become my new favourite workout, am about to go for a 5 mile walk, and I'm only allowed a protein shake for tea - should be enough damage limitation!

Sarahlouboo · 03/08/2015 18:42

Hey everyone. I am lurking. Unfortunately my Dad died suddenly at the weekend. Coming so shortly after my other bad news I can hardly believe it. I'll be travelling home to Scotland tomorrow but I am taking my running kit with me. Having

Sarahlouboo · 03/08/2015 18:44

Whoops premature post caused by DS launching himself at me! I was going to say that reading about your various endeavours is a pleasant distraction but I probably won't be posting much for a while. Xx

Jacksterbear · 03/08/2015 18:56

Omg Sarah I am so very sorry. SadFlowersFlowers

Purpleraindeer · 03/08/2015 19:04

Hello all!
Busy few days. Combination of a bit of a hangover on Sunday plus a poorly ds meant I didn't get to do speed 3.0 on Sunday Blush. But I did it today. Burpees felt endless! Am hoping to get the kids to bed then do ripd up too so I'm back on track with gamma week. Spooky - you're making me accountable!

It's def possible to lose a lot of weight in 4wks spooky. I just checked mfp and I lost c4kg in that time and that was enough to get down a full dress size.

Good to see you boobz. I like the new plan! Are you sure that some of your weight gain isn't just the steriods? It might go away on its own once they stop?

And random question - I've stopped doing the stretch bit post DVD to save time. Does that actually matter?

Purpleraindeer · 03/08/2015 19:07

oh Sarah, I've just seen your post. I'm so sorry. Look after yourself. Flowers.

spookyskeleton · 03/08/2015 21:47

Sarah I am so sorry for your losses Flowers take care of yourself.

purple did you do ript up? Dreading extreme circuit tomorrow Confused thanks for the advice about the weight but I have to lose at least a stone to drop a dress size due to my height and build.

Really struggled to fast today. Thought it would be easier to do at home as the kids and jobs around the house would distract me but instead I just found myself getting grumpy and snappy with them. Anyway, nearly bedtime and tomorrow I can eat breakfast again and treat myself to some popcorn at the cinema Wink

Eleanor wow, just reading about what you have done today following a night shift makes me tired Grin

EleanorAbernathy · 04/08/2015 00:14

Sarah so sorry to hear of your loss Flowers

I don't think I could cope with 5:2 - I get too ratty when I'm hungry! It was a sort of fast day for me today, most of it wasn't too bad due to the sheer amount of carbs I ate in the early hours but I felt quite weak and wobbly by the end! I had a Weightwatchers meal instead of a protein shake as I managed to burn off more calories than I was expecting (going by my Fitbit heartrate monitor!)

I actually had every intention to do Insanity when I got home at 7.30am this morning, but I sat on the bed to take my work shoes off, and bed just felt so NICE.... so I went to bed and did it when I got up instead!

Boobz · 04/08/2015 06:15

Sarah - I have no words. I'm so sorry - please look after yourself. If there is anything I can do - not sure what, but just say (am in the UK every week now).

Take care.

Purpleraindeer · 04/08/2015 07:55

I did do ripd up spooky. Was my first double, but I did have a 6hr break between the 2 workouts so doesn't really count.
Was alternately extremely difficult (omg - press ups!!) and then much too easy as my weights are too light. Am v sore this am. Won't be lifting my arms above my head today that's for sure. I really enjoyed it tho. Christina on the DVD is super annoying tho. What a show off with her 'perfect form'!

Eleanor you are now on a par with boobz for hardcore willpower. I weighed myself this am and seem to be a kg heavier than I was last week. Let's hope it's water retention?!

Sarah - I'm sure we'll all be thinking of you. Lurk away and do post when you feel like it. Flowers

spookyskeleton · 04/08/2015 10:40

purple what weights do you use? I vary between 2.2kgs and 4.5kgs depending on the exercise. However, I used 2.2kgs all the way through Ript up yesterday as there is far too much chopping and changing as it is - they were definitely too light for some exercises but too heavy for some (well 1, that 90° shimmy and hold - ouch!) I am not aching today so I could probably go heavier.

One of my fitness goals is to be able to do proper press ups rather than modified ones ...one day Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 04/08/2015 12:56

Sorry not a proper check in, but I wanted to say I am so sorry Sarah xx Flowers

EdmondDantes · 04/08/2015 22:20

Hello everyone. Congratulations to all those kicking arse on the workouts.

Sarah - sorry to hear your news. Hope you are doing the best you can

Eleanor - tell me what you think of Max 30: I love it. Just completed the M2 fitness test and to use a quote " this shit is banana" it destroyed me as I have only done 2 exercise in 2 weeks.

Boobz - diet is crucial. I am astonished about the hidden sugar. when I am training am good , when I am not I am bad so I understand where you are coming from.

What are people goals on here? Fitness level, specified weight? For me the max 30 is a tool to shift the 3-5kg excess weight that I carry so that the gains i make are in gym are more visible. Or succinctly put vanity. Approaching forty and I don't want a beer belly or moobs.
