Hi everyone, new thread started! Grin

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 02/05/2015 11:10

3.1 miles of parkrun pb to add 60.8 total now . Maybe the run technique training helped. Plus the lovely intervals.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 02/05/2015 11:29

germs I went in PJs and a dressing gown over my running gear. Was fine when there were plenty of other people in fancy dress, but I did get some funny looks on my way home (which takes me past past the local hospital) Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 02/05/2015 11:30

Oh and 3.1 takes us to 63.9

phlebasconsidered · 02/05/2015 12:17

7.9 from me this morning. Took a ton of beconase and inhaler before I left, and it worked because I got a quadruple whammy of PB: fastest mile, 5K, 10K, and distance!

71.8

holmessweetholmes · 02/05/2015 13:13

And a Parkrun 3.1 from me makes 74.9 . I beat 30 mins today for the first time in aaages, so am really chuffed! That Half Marathon training must be doing something!

LastGleaming · 02/05/2015 13:43

Oh my goodness lots of talk here.

Well done cinnamon on your first run.

Lovely to have the Rome Marathon to look forward to karate, it's one place I haven't visited but I'm hoping to go next year as I'm a bit of an ancient history geek.

I've had exactly the same germs only the fella wasn't drunk. Oh and the loud group 'yeeoo' once as I ran past a bunch of drunk men outside a pub one day. Yes, somehow cos you're a woman you seem to be fair game Hmm

I'm up along the north coast actiongirl, where the rain and wind never seems to stop at times Grin

3.1 to add from yesterday as I knew the weather was due to be foul today. I refuse to move out of the house from in front of the fire! I love my garmin I have to say as I hate lugging my phone about, it's the basic 110 but does the job for me rightly.

Nice round 78

cinnamongreyhound · 02/05/2015 14:21

We have one (dss) who became a teenager last summer familygermsareok it wasn't an overnight transformation but it did happen over a period of time Sad he has his good moments though!

Well done HalleLouja, plebasconsidered and holmessweetholmes!

I made it to parkrun this morning so will there and back and parkrun 4 miles to add from me. Not sure when I will get out again but will try to do a bit, my legs felt it today!

82

lastqueenofscotland · 02/05/2015 15:50

6.46 from me today. Longest for the year by over two miles so a bit slow but delighted with it.
88.46

suzannecanthecan · 02/05/2015 16:51

12.15 from me
100.61

I have a garmin 210, I like it but it'd be good to get something a bit fancier, all my running budget has gone on shoes Blush lately so updating the gadget side of things has taken a back seat

phlebasconsidered · 02/05/2015 18:23

Can I ask about chafing? Now my runs are getting longer, I have found my bum cheeks chafe together somewhat! I would really like this not to happen. I seem to have a red and sore bum now. My sports bra is excellent, and doesn't rub ( shock absorber for big boobs, 32 G), and my running tights are seamless, but i can't do much about my butt cheeks! They are always going to touch! (I ran commando today, too!)

Maybe I should vaseline my bum?

Seriously, what has running reduced me to.

suzannecanthecan · 02/05/2015 18:59

there are products Im sure Phleb, isnt there something called bodyglide?

phlebasconsidered · 02/05/2015 19:48

It's literally only the bit between my butt cheeks! I am able to lose half a stone, true, but I'm just under 9 stone and 5.3, so I am not exactly huge. I really wasn't expecting it! It's sore. Maybe my running rights are squishing my cheeks together too much. I need loose butt cheeks! I shall google bodyglide.

suzannecanthecan · 02/05/2015 20:15

another one of the many and various issues generated by running Confused
something rubs here, something hurts there
this feels too cold, that feels too hot.
Whatever it is if it is having a negative impact on running it must be dealt with so that you can put it behind you and focus on 'being in the running moment' undisturbed by pain and discomfort Wink

I think it's just a case of needing to reduce the friction where skin happens to rub on something?

familygermsareok · 02/05/2015 22:27

I will be sure to make the most of the good moments following the TeenTransformation, and hope for the best!

I do get Angry at the way some people think it's funny to try and humiliate women out running/cycling or doing whatever. Thankfully it has been rare in my own experience. Ignoring does seem to be the best strategy although I would secretly love to have superpowers and karate chop them into submission

phlebas vaseline pre-run is supposed to be very effective for chafing. Lots of runners use it wherever needed.

Well done for all the good runs and PBs, and great parkrun cinnamon . Love your PJ fancy dress OhOne, especially going back past the hospital. Did any kindly soul try to guide you back in there? Smile

Good luck for tomorrow Sazor. I hope you are feeling better now and can just enjoy the running and not worry about the racing.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/05/2015 03:35

Good luck Sazorchard31!

Vaseline should work fine phlebasconsidered, you could try changing leggings but it's cheaper to try the Vaseline or other slippery material first Wink. I get a sore bit on my bum sometimes but I put it down to sweat more than chaffing as it doesn't annoy me while running, more after.

Neeko · 03/05/2015 07:54

Good luck Sazor

Well done on your park run, Cinnamon.

Lagoonablue · 03/05/2015 10:19

A paltry 2.5 miles from me. I have a sore thigh and ankle. I am still new to this and haven't quite got my running style sorted. My ankles is sore so overcompensate and put too much pressure on the other thigh I think. It's not terrible but a bit sore. I am doing 3 5k ish runs a week and don't really want to lose momentum. Maybe I should have a rest for 3 or 4 days?

Lagoonablue · 03/05/2015 10:21

103.11 I think.

Runrunrun1 · 03/05/2015 11:59

Woo hoo 3.51 from me today, in the absolute pouring rain. I couldn't have been wetter if I'd got in the bath in all my clothes, but it was great. Furthest I've ever run - I used the NHS 5k+ stamina podcast today. Someone on here said it was good re running form (sorry, can't remember who), and I totally agree. Lots of reminders about not looking at your feet etc, which I realize that I do all the time.

cinnamon, can't believe that you did a park run! What a star!

106.62

Sazorchard31 · 03/05/2015 12:54

Adding my 6.1 from this morning's 10k...back running yey!!
112.72

Thanks for good luck messages!
Run was good, the rain stopped about half an hrs before and by the end it was warm and sunny. I managed 1.02 I think which was what I deserved really having done no training for it. Would have loved under an hr but I need to work for that.

Sazorchard31 · 03/05/2015 12:55

Amazing cinnamon to be running so soon...you're amazing! Hope it went ok.

EdithDickie · 03/05/2015 12:56

I have just discovered Body Glide for chafy bits, not as greasy as Vaseline.

I am hopeful of a run tomorrow, not been out for over a week. Blister healed pretty well. And..... less than a week until the 24 hour endurance thing!!! Bought my supplies and freaking out intermittently! I mostly just want to get on with it now!

HalleLouja · 03/05/2015 13:20

Edith sounds exciting. Am half tempted to do one with my club mates in the summer but the whole thought of camping and not getting much sleep between laps is not selling the experience to me.

3.1 more miles in my Every Day in May challenge. Makes 115.82.

EdithDickie · 03/05/2015 14:50

I am a bit worried about the lack of sleep Halle, I'm not a great camper at the best of times! I am on a team of 3, 5 mile laps (woodland trails, and HILLS, oh so hilly!) and my team mates are two very speedy and fit guys (I am soooo the weakest link!) and I'm looking at about 90 minutes between laps potentially Shock

I actually can't believe I thought this was a good idea!

Sazorchard31 · 03/05/2015 16:08

Edith that sounds mammoth when you think about only 90min gaps. I'm sure you'll do great though. One x 5miles is enough for me. How many laps do you have to do?
