Hi everyone, new thread started! Grin

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 28/05/2015 15:04

Maybe my maths is wrong aggressivebunting but 4.2min km would be a 21min parkrun which would be First Lady most weeks at ours.

I'd run with a sore throat holmessweetholmes but you have to make the judgement.

Sounds perfect familygermsareok Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 28/05/2015 15:05

Sorry very slow post so crossed holmessweetholmes!

suzannecanthecan · 28/05/2015 15:08

I do some biking and walking but most of my mileage is running, biking is great for getting about but I find impossible to make it as intense as running, maybe I should just give it more wellyBlush

previous total -1504.53

  • 11.72 from me new total 1516.25
Anglaise1 · 28/05/2015 15:11

If that's the first time in your life you've done intervals that is excellent Aggressive no shame there at all. They take a bit of getting used to but sometimes I even enjoy them. It makes a change but unfortunately my coach is more pro them than long slower runs so we do perhaps too many at the club. My 5k time is 22m25, I definitely prefer longer races, it takes me 5kms to warm up!

Anglaise1 · 28/05/2015 16:05

I might be wrong but I don't think you can compare a 5k race with interval times because you don't have the rest time that you do between the intervals.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/05/2015 19:37

That is true Anglaise1 but if that's 90% effort it must be close. 22:25 is impressive Grin

4 doggy miles from me. My little dog actually went in the river Shock and my big dog went after a rabbit and lifted me off the ground much to my surprise!!!!!

1520.25

lastqueenofscotland · 28/05/2015 19:50

5.66 from me last night 10.1 today
However I've got a very sharp pain just below my knee cap, like something's stuck under the skin, stabbing pain when I move it a dull ache now while sitting on the sofa... Any ideas? Came up this mornings run. Was agony this evening and I had to stop a mile too soon :(
1536.01 I think?! My record for maths on here isn't great.

Anglaise1 · 28/05/2015 20:13

Lastqueen Not sure, but when I was marathon training I had a sudden pain it turned out to be tendonitis. 10 days rest plus several sessions with the physio with shock wave treatment sorted it out quite quickly. Of course it maybe something completely different!
Cinnamon yes, maybe 90% effort but I don't know what that is or how you measure it, maybe cardio? We only train by time, so when we do 200m in 45s it is because the coach says so, we can go faster but don't....

Deliaskis · 28/05/2015 20:25

Couldn't really run last week as DH away so had to stay home with dd and also got a bit of a cold, but back on it this week, and 2x3.4 miles = 6.8 added to total 1536.01 is 1542.81 I think?

SocksRock · 28/05/2015 20:48

Thanks for all the advice! I'm on holiday at the moment, but will get a GP appointment for next week and see if I can get a referral. One of DD1's friends Mum is a physio as well, might collar her after school and see if she had any generic advice...

Went out this evening and did intervals on grass - 0.5km run and 0.5km walk 5 times. So 5km, no real pain but a bit niggly. Have iced and ibuprofen and we'll see how it feels in the morning...

Are the figures in bold a cumulative total?

cinnamongreyhound · 28/05/2015 21:26

Yes I'm sure you're right Angalise1, I always used to guess what pace I could manage to survive at for the given time Wink

Yes SocksRock we add all of our miles together and get a total for each month Smile

AggressiveBunting · 29/05/2015 05:13

louey Basically, yes, so 200m at 90%, 200m rest (x2) then 400m at 90% up to 1km (which you only do once) and then back down again. The rests between each interval are either 200m or 400m depending on where you end up because you always start at the same point on a 400m track. Therefore the whole thing ends up being c.10km.

I'm going to try to do them once a week once I get back from holiday. It's a public track so I can use it free anytime I want, which is great.

Cinnamon yes, I think Anglaise is right that a straight 5k would be slower because no breaks. When I do my 8km run I usually try to do the last 2km at 4.30mins/km and I'm always happy when it's over, so I think I'm just not cut out for these very short races.

Anglaise Good luck at Mont St Michel this weekend

Queen Sounds painful. I'd definitely get it looked at if it persists and doesnt respond to a bit of rest and icing. Might just be a case of building up mileage a bit quickly (Are you doing 10 miles a day every day?)

PoppyShakespeare · 29/05/2015 12:30

1542.81 + 4 = 1546.82

Smile
emummy · 29/05/2015 13:03

2.4 from me, easy run then strides, last one before the hm. Dh is feeling under the weather today, so I'm spraying first defence up my nose constantly and washing my hands every time he looks at me! Can't get sick now!

1549.22

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 29/05/2015 15:27

Hello all.

3.6 hilly ones from me today

1552.82

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 29/05/2015 15:31

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend Smile

familygermsareok · 29/05/2015 15:39

Good luck for your hm emummy. Stay well away from your DH Grin. In fact, in the interests of infection control do you not need to book into a nice hotel for the next couple of days just to make sure? Wink

7.1 gentle meandering miles from me today.
1549.22 + 7.1 = 1556.32

familygermsareok · 29/05/2015 15:41

Oops x post with squeezyweasel.
1552.82 + 7.1= 1559.82

familygermsareok · 29/05/2015 15:44

Or even 1552.92.
That 0.1 of a mile can make all the difference! Grin

familygermsareok · 29/05/2015 15:53

Aaargh!
1559.92
Please can someone who has a functioning brain check this as I'm clearly not working properly today!

SocksRock · 29/05/2015 16:05

Ice and ibuprofen post run seems to be helping a lot - no pain or niggles today. Will run again tomorrow, same intervals, and see if it feels better or worse. Have taken ibuprofen again today a couple of times to try and keep any inflammation down.

And here I was thinking that just new shoes would be the answer!

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 29/05/2015 16:06

You are correct, family

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 29/05/2015 16:37

That's good news, socks. Sounds like you're on the mend.

Anglaise1 · 29/05/2015 17:50

Good luck for you HM this weekend emummy and anyone else who is racing.
5.3 from me this evening, last run before the marathon duo on Sunday (I'm running the second 'half' which is slightly longer than the first 'half' and have the benefit of all the cheering crowds at the end which gives a real boost! Weather forecast = pants, sadly.
