Hi everyone, new thread started! Grin

OP posts:
emummy · 21/05/2015 12:44

Well at least you know you'll have something nice to look at! It will probably be fine anyway, the extra adrenaline on race days and the whole experience is a lot different from solo training runs. Enjoy!

AggressiveBunting · 21/05/2015 13:23

Adding 6.3 from a treadmill 10k this evening to make 1168.46. Probably should have gone out but it looked like rain and I wasn't feeling myself after having some fairly major dentistry today- now have a steel band holding my back molar together until my dentist can make a crown for it. I did avoid the predicted root canal though so that's something.

Wont do much now till next week as we're away for the weekend- going to be torrential rain though so not sure we'll see much pool time.

alleypalley · 21/05/2015 17:43

A 6.24mi from me this morning in the lovely sunshine. Nearly got knocked into the canal though by some stupid cyclist coming far to fast round a blind corner, coming out from under the bridge into the sunshine. Actually she's lucky she didn't go into the water, I had to grab her handle bars to stop her ramming right into me.

Alley so glad your encounter with the cyclist was a near miss and not a hit. I nearly hit a runner on the way home tonight, he came shooting out of a footpath onto the road (the wrong side for pedestrians) and was very lucky I didn't take him out.
Saw the doctor tonight and he is sending me to a sports specialist after a scan of my bum. He thinks my PITA is something to do with the sciatic nerve (the periformis sits on top of this....I think). Painkillers in the meantime but he didn't bother prescribing rest he knows me too well
I've also got a prescription to see a podologist ?? for my 'interesting' bunion and toe deformity foot problem.
Despite this I still managed 13,5 miles today, a long run with a couple of running girlfriends and a dog run.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/05/2015 20:23

Hope you feel better soon stilllearning!

Yay for no root canal AggressiveBunting!

We have a lot of cyclist round here alleypalley some very friendly others do not like runners on cycle routes even if they're he with walking routes! Hope you're ok. I had a run in with a car door (swerved around as the bloke opened it) a year ago and ended up with a horrible injury right in my groin.

Good news on the referral Anglaise1!

4.8 miles from me. I tried a new route I've been on once with my club mates all on my own so I'm doubly proud as my friend let me down again and I still went. Hope to find a buddy bank holiday Monday as I'm rd at parkrun Saturday so no running then.

lastqueenofscotland · 21/05/2015 20:41

Alley I had a close encounter or tuesday with one who came zooming up behind me on a blind turn, missed me by about an inch!!!

Dottymum2 · 21/05/2015 21:24

Not sure why but I'm slightly addicted to reading about everyone's runs!!! Just love being part of the running community, genuinely think it has made me a happier person, thought I'd share that Smile

HalleLouja · 21/05/2015 21:31

About 3.5 miles of chatty run. Managed to miss some of my run on Garmin. Makes 1202.8

Managed to explore a part of my local area I hadn't really been too very much. Will be going back and will trying to go that way. Managed to get stuck in some mud. Was fun.

stilllearnin · 21/05/2015 22:19

Thank you cinnamon and that is v sweet dotty

I am ok and really did enjoy the walking bit. I have 3 festivals this weekend in different parts of the country and 2 next weekend - again miles apart. I just cannot hack that this weekend and so my heroic dp is going without me to the first 2 and then picking me up on his way through for festival 3 this weekend. He has not been well for the last 6 months and I wonder if when he picks me up he will slink into bed and I will be doing the 3rd one solo!

My run today was back from dropping the van for its MOT realised I could get all the way home by following the river until it joined one of my usual routes Grin - great option if we get a decent summer as there is usually a breeze by the water.

Neeko · 22/05/2015 07:12

3.2 from me this morning 1206

Sorry to just post and run Wink. Will catch up on everyone's news tonight.

emummy · 22/05/2015 13:19

4.8 from me, mixed pace run, hilly route, hot & sunny!

1210.8

lastqueenofscotland · 22/05/2015 13:36

My email re my charity London marathon place came through today! That should spur me on through a very early 9 miler tomorrow.

suzannecanthecan · 22/05/2015 14:59

Congrats on your London marathon place Lastqueen :o

11.5 from me
1222.32

sunny but breezy, it seems so much harder running in warmer weather and it's not even in any way hot yet.
I'm not sure what my summer fitness strategy is going to be but yet I think I may have to modify the running part of it!

Anglaise1 · 22/05/2015 18:58

5.7 dog running miles today
1228.02

runtothehills · 22/05/2015 19:18

7 miles up hill behind my house in the lovely evening sunshine, one of those happy runs Grin.Nearly got run over at the end by local kids playing on quad bikes on the track.

Well done on charity place lastqueen which charity are you running for?

1235.02

lastqueenofscotland · 23/05/2015 10:31

Runtothehills I'm running for Anthony Nolan. A good friends wife was saved by a bone marrow transplant so very happy to run for them.

9.24 early miles today, got a bit lost, got chased by a dog and hit a massive flat spot at mile 6 but kept going and flew up the big hill at the end I nearly died running up after a 6 mile run three weeks ago. Very happy to actually be able to tell I'm getting stronger :)

1244.26 if my infamously bad maths hasn't let me down

holmessweetholmes · 23/05/2015 10:35

Bloody Nora! Either trying Parkrun on an empty stomach for the first time was a seriously bad idea or I'm still recovering from my hellish 16k on Wednesday because that was utterly pants! I had to walk several times and actually considered giving up! On a 5k! Have just inhaled a bacon roll at the café Grin.

stilllearnin · 23/05/2015 11:42

bacon roll should do it. Do not panic Holmes - i think the expectation of a training program can play havoc sometimes. Perhaps you need to go out for your next run with no expectation as to distance or speed. Go out joyful and see how you get on. Flowers

stilllearnin · 23/05/2015 11:44

oh and we'll take that 3.1 walks included Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 23/05/2015 13:43

Well done for everyone running. I was rd today at parkrun so no miles from me. Struggling to find a running buddy Monday but we've planned our day around a morning run so that will get me to go Smile. Off to the greyhound Extravagant tomorrow followed by lunch at my mums so no chance of a run then.

familygermsareok · 23/05/2015 20:20

Adding on 3.85 intervals from Fri morning, have only had time to skim read thread.
Impressive running from everyone in the hot sunshine, up the hills, despite homicidal cyclists, feet deformities or dental issues and on spaghetti legs/empty stomachs Wink
I have done nothing today but have another 10k tomorrow so am trying to ignore the bottle of wine whispering seductively to me from the fridge Grin

1244.26 + 3.1 from holmes + 3.85 from me = 1251.21

Anglaise1 · 23/05/2015 21:03

(((Holmes))) don't worry, its normal to have bad days, there is so much that can affect your running performance, you'll be fine (hope the bacon roll was good!)
family good luck for your 10k tomorrow.
A lot of gite cleaning today so just a little dog run from me of 5 miles (off camping tomorrow but hope to run at the coast at some stage 'cos the forecast is good and the footpaths are beautiful).
1256.21

cinnamongreyhound · 23/05/2015 21:19

Are the gites fully booked at this time of year Anglaise1? I think may half term is a popular time for holidays.

holmessweetholmes · 24/05/2015 07:29

Aww thanks Anglaise Smile! At least I finished, I suppose. Not sure when I'm going to fit my long run in this week, as we've got guests staying for much of half term.

I think one of the things I'm going to have to get my head around for the HM is running even more slooowly than usual. My pace is remaining pretty constant as I increase my distance (and actually there is never that much difference in my pace between my shortest and longest runs).

But if I don't take it really easy and possibly even walk up the hillier bits, I think I'm unlikely to actually complete the course. Ultimately, I really don't care what my time is - I just want to finish.
